Fish here is great and very fresh. Tastes great as well. I got a half and half bowl, and the salad is simply just put on the side, not mixed, and completely dry. Customer service, at least for when I went in was terrible. I walked in, there was nobody in there. I got no greeting. The two employees were acting like I didn't exist n were busy making a bowl (either to go for someone or for themselves). It took them about 4 min until the girl acknowledged me and asked me what I would like. Overall, poke here is great. Just not a fan of how they mix in the salads, and customer service was not great at all. Poke Bar is hands down my favorite poke place! They offer quality ingredients and quality service! As with many other poke places, you build your own poke bowl here. You get to choose the size, the base (salad, white rice, or brown rice), type of fish, sauce, and lastly, the toppings. I love that the fish here is always fresh, and I also love the taste & variety of their sauces! I usually order a small bowl, and that's usually plenty of food for me! If you're coming here for the first time, I would recommend trying out the dynamite sauce (that's my personal favorite). Also, note that you can get your bowl with half salad and half rice to get the best of both worlds ;) Lastly, I just want to comment about the exemplary service. All the employees are so friendly and patient! One of my friends has a pretty strict diet, and whenever he comes, the employees are always happy to help him weigh his fish and rice portions. Don't come here if you're expecting superb food because it is not here. Adding avocado is free but it's not good tasting avocado. They taste like the avocados you would steal from your neighbors; the neighbors who never water their plants, hence the crappy fruit. Portion size is very micro-scaled. You get 2 scoops of fish if you order small, 3 scoops if you order medium, and 5 scoops if you order large. Don't come here if you're picturing a scoop to be like the scoops from your school cafeteria. These "scoops" are FAR smaller and closer to the size of a teaspoon, which equalled to about 5 half inch squares of fish per "scoop". I've attached some images of my fish cubes with this review. Saying a 4 to a Poke place is my way of saying its AOK. The reason is because I love poke and it would be hard to justify not giving it higher than a 3. Plus, I am on the search to find the best Poke place in Socal and this is just another notch on my belt. With the rise of poke places, there are many copy cats of the Pokinometry craze. This is one of them. Everyone likes the Chipotle style Poke Bowl and this one is no different. It would be hard to tell the difference of Uroko Cafe, Oke Poke, and this place. They all have the same format and the same offerings. They don't exactly have the Pokinometry standard taste that I think is primed to stand out. They don't have the originality like North Shore or Poke District. They also don't have the Outside the box like Poke N Roll. This place is AOK in the Poke world because it offers the rice, flavors seaweed, and all the fish options like everyone else. The good thing about this place is that the food is fresh and since I love poke, I would go here again if I was nearby. That's what makes it a 4 to me. I asked one of the guys which sauce is closest to a vinaigrette since I don't like creamy dressings, and he mixed a little of this & that with some spicy concoction, along with my toppings and SHAZAM lunch is served! I usually get the medium with octopus (great choice for reducing blood pressure, btw), shrimp, and salmon. This place is like a hole in the wall, not super easy to find because sometimes you just want to go straight to Rita's Ice Cream. Anyway, It is still good. Going inside is a very small place, basically for you to grab your bowl and go. It is very bright inside and the menu is just right on top on you. As I walked in I was welcomed in an OK manner by a male, he just said "welcome" and that was it, without a smile. I have to admit, the steps to getting the poke bowl you want could be pretty confusing because it does not tell you how many toppings you could get or what not because some poke places charge you for avocado, from what my friend said that was the case. Even though I knew right away how to order because I go to a lot of poke places a lot it was a breeze for me. I ordered the medium bowl half and half (half brown rice half greens which is 9.8 after tax) which comes with three scoops of fish. First was the salmon, spicy tuna then yellowtail. The fish looked really nice and appetizing to look at. I really wanted to have everything especially the shrimp even though I do not usually eat shrimp. However, the portions for fish looked really small. Next came the sauces, I got the dynamite because you know...spicy, with sweet unagi sauce, miso sauce and the template sauce that it always comes with. With the sauces, they mix the fishes in with the sauces. Next came the toppings, to be honest I just got everything on there except the wasabi and ginger because I just prefer it not in my bowl. Every topping they gave was pretty good and I did not need to ask for more. I really liked how everything was a breeze for me but however, the workers never smiled one bit even if I said "thank you" or tipped them a dollar. Service should always be with a smile. Even though they did not smile, they at least got their job done without complication and the food still tasted good. Taking bites into the bowl, I really enjoyed it. The salmon was really soft along with the yellowtail. The sauces really do good with the fishes. Along with the spicy tuna, it was pretty spicy to my liking. Each topping also complemented the bowl which made it really enjoyable for me. The bowl that is served here is a bowl that says "I want to have more". As I took the last bite, I wanted to get another one and savor it but I had to tell myself no because I do not want to eat a lot. Overall I really enjoy coming here to get a quick bowl because it is really good! However I am irked that they do not smile when taking customers order but as long as the bowl is good, I am good! read more
