Loved this place, been coming here since opening 4 years ago under a different name. Now I'm not quite sure. Today was especially bad. Horrible customer service, all new people that didn't know what they were doing. Portion sizes also shrunk significantly. Rewards system is a scam also. Several times when I was close to a freebie my points disappear. Happened this time also when I knew I was close to a large one it said I have no points available. When I asked for two scoop of albacore, the container barely had any and the guy had scraped it up claiming it was two scoops when you can tell it can only fit as one scoop. Furthermore, asked if they had any avocado left, they didn't even check they just said no. Lastly the pineapple dole whip float. The guy hesitated when we asked if we can have one, and this is what comes out of it. A float is supposed to be in a cup, we got served this in a bowl. Went in again and asked if this was right since we can't even drink out of it. The guy remakes it in another bowl! It takes us some time to decide what protein, what add on, and sauces we want. - they had new employees and they were all generally nice and awesome. Good job to their management team on their staff. He gave us a quick intro on what was available and how to order. You pick your choice & amount/type of protein. The cost varies and for extra protein, it's $2 more. There's a good variety of toppings and sauces. Everything tasted fresh and the crunchy onion gave it a nice texture. They were very good sized portions and I left in a food coma. Tried out oke poke for the first time cause we were craving some poke and it was tasty! Food: -got salmon and tuna as my fish with rice as the base. It was pretty full of all the toppings which was yuuuummmy! I think next time I'll ask for extra ginger and wasabi on the side- just a personal preference. The fish was pretty good, but the salmon didn't taste as fresh (it could be a fluke or maybe just the drive home too, we to-go-ed the food) but it wasn't anything alarming so we ate it all up! In my opinion, it beats the poke I've tried in Hawaii and around LA, I believe the seasoning & sauce is what makes this place amazing!! As well as the quality of fish being so fresh all the time. as I have a keen smell for the ocean and I can't eat anything too fishy. For marinade oils, I always order "Spicy garlic ponzu" and for topping sauces it's always "Dynamite" -- FIRE!! To top it off, avocado is free of charge. This is by far the worse poke place I have ever dined at. Ingredients are not fresh at all. I'm actually surprised we didn't get food poisoning. It was a hot day and we were craving something healthy, so we decided to try the only poke place in Monrovia on Saturday. Unfortunately, that was a bad decision because there was nothing good about dining here at Oke Poke. The ingredients didn't look fresh and the flies flying around and landing on the ingredients made it even less appetizing. However, we decided to still give it a shot by sharing a bowl. When we brought the food home, the lid of our miso soup came right off. Apparently, they don't even order lids that fit the bowls correctly so it easily comes off and soup spills everywhere. The poke itself also tasted fishy and not very fresh. The texture was definitely off. They also premixed the ingredients but it turned into a giant goop mess of food. Ingredients completely unrecognizable. The rice underneath was hard and it was just chunks of rice stuck together, almost like days old rice. I'm not sure how they manage to get 4 stars, but there's some serious quality control issues that needs to be addressed before customers get sick. read more
