    Chicken chop suey

We have been here several times. It is a very clean place. Great serene, quiet atmosphere. The service is courteous and friendly. Today we ordered from the dinner deals on the back if the menu. I think is the best unless to like large portions of one thing. The dinner deals come with soup and appetizers. We ordered Mongolian beef, this style of preparing it is my favorite! We also had chicken chop suey, wonton soup and the appetizers were delicious, but my fried rice was not good. Very affordable prices.

TLDR: Lunch special 11am-3pm under $15 is such a great deal for so much food! Highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp and Mongolian beef! This place is a 5 minute drive from City of Hope and located in a huge parking lot due to it being next to a grocery store! When I walked inside, I was greeted very warmly- the employees were so very kind and loved to recommend me what was popular. I ordered takeout during their lunch special, and the prices were amazing! A main entree with a choice of crab Rangoon/egg roll and choice of steamed or fried rice was a great amount of food! Here's what we got: FOOD: -mongolian beef entree with egg roll side and fried rice -honey walnut shrimp entree with crab Rangoon and fried rice Everything was so, so delicious! Definitely coming back!

The portions were good size! We got 4 plates and the only reason we finished every last gram was because I can eat for 3 people when I skip a meal. Good ratio with sauces, oil and seasoning. Compared to panda express where most of it tastes like they pour cups of sugar and feels heavy in the stomach, this place is one of the top Chinese spots in Duarte. The staff was so friendly and got our food out quick. The place was clean and has a lot of space.

My wife, grandson, and I were on a road trip and had a craving for some Chinese food. I looked at several different locations along the interstate and found this GEM. Chinese food is either good or bad and I can tell you this food is GREAT! The restaurant was spotless in the dining area and the bathroom. The waiter was so nice to me and my family and made us feel at home. The portion size is large enough for two people to share and when it comes to flavor the food is loaded with flavor and cooked to perfection. The pictures don't show the true size of the meals.I would advise anyone in the area looking for good, quality Chinese food to try this restaurant.

I been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and full of flavor and the service is great. Yes, the place is outdated but who cares when the food is delicious.

I was craving fast food Chinese, but I didn't want the restaurant fast food chain Panda Express because they're stingy with their serving sizes. I looked up fast food Chinese near where my hotel was located and found Hong Kong Express. These mom and pop Chinese food spots are always generous with their portions and Hong Kong Express was no exception. Not sure if it was because I didn't eat what I ordered at the restaurant and ate it at my hotel, but the food wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. It still hit the spot and filled me up, but I give this Hong Kong Express 3.5 stars based on their generosity with their food and the professional demeanor of the lady who served me. There are multiple Hong Kong Express locations in Los Angeles, but the one I stopped by at is located in Duarte. It can be found in the busy Target shopping center. The restaurant is located across from Sonic and Denny's, it's a few steps away from an Italian restaurant, and it's next to Koki + Ku and Crumbl. There is plenty of parking at this shopping center. Hong Kong Express is similar to Panda Express where you can order by selecting items from several choices of Chinese food and then pay at the register. As you enter the restaurant, it is well lit, clean, and there is plenty of seating. There isn't much ambience and the decor is limited to a few Chinese hanging decorations and stringed lights. There are some machines where you can get cheap toys after feeding the machine some coins. The Asian lady I interacted with was professional and took care of my order expediently. I'll always choose to stop by a mom and pop Chinese fast food restaurant over Panda Express if I can find one primarily because of their portion sizes and value for your money. Hong Kong Express checked both those boxes like a champ. I ordered their two item Combo B, which comes with your choice of two Chinese food items with fried rice and chow mein. For my food choices, I selected their orange chicken and kung pao chicken. I also ordered two fried egg rolls. I happily watched them heap on generous amounts of food into my styro container. After my exhausting day helping my daughter, I was looking forward to stuffing my face with Hong Kong Express' food. When I ate my meal at our hotel, I cleaned off my container because the food was good and I was very hungry. The food wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. The egg rolls tasted like they had been on the serving line too long. I wished the orange chicken was more tender, but I enjoyed the kung pao chicken. Make sure to ask for their hot sauce if you like spicy because I made sure to dip my food into their hot sauce to make it more flavorful. I thought their fried rice and chow mein were tasty and complemented the two dishes I ordered. My daughter and I had a productive Day 1 moving her from her home rental to her apartment. Eating a stuffed styro of Chinese food from Hong Kong Express energized me for our Day 2.

The duck is around $28 for the whole duck, which is amazing in this economy. It's a small store so seating is limited. I've never personally dined in and always ordered takeout. And the boss lady that runs the front of the house? She is cool, sassy and a multi-tasking queen. You can tell she puts heart and pride into serving the customers and food. When placing the phone order, she will try to make sure that the food is ready when you arrive. And she will always say in mandarin in an almost scolding tone: "hurry up and go home and eat the food. It won't be as good if you wait to long to eat it! " Honestly...the scolding makes the food taste better.

I'd made a reservation the day prior since I'd been searching for businesses that stayed open during Thanksgiving. Parking is very easy. The private lot is spacious with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Staff mostly spoke Mandarin; however, there was one staff member that could fluently speak English. Staff is very helpful and professional, and staff answered all our questions. We ordered seven dishes; all the dishes arrived within 38 minutes and 16 seconds. Good pace. The Salt & Pepper Fish Filet ($14) arrived in nine minutes. Then, six minutes later, the Beef Chow Fun ($13) and String Bean with Minced Chicken ($14) arrived. Then, 10 minutes later, the Combination Fried Rice ($17) and Salt & Pepper Shrimp ($17) arrived. Lastly, around 14 more minutes later, the Scallion Oil Chicken (Half - $17) and Almond Tea ($7) came. We happily devoured these delicious dishes. The Salt & Pepper Fish Filet had a thin, crisp crust with hot fish. It's gently seasoned. The Beef Chow Fun had springy, bouncy noodles. Its beef came very tender but a little lukewarm. The String Bean with Minced Chicken tasted clean and fresh; its chicken came tender and juicy. The Combination Fried Rice had plump shrimp, tender beef, and moist chicken. I especially loved how the rice felt hot & fluffy. It was well-seasoned. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp tasted crisp, plump, and well-salted; these shrimp were fried perfectly. The Scallion Oil Chicken tasted very tender and juicy. And the Almond Tea felt hot, velvety with the fresh aftertaste of almonds. Every meal felt clean and fresh. All in all, we appreciated how every dish lacked that overpowering/masking flavor. "TASTY!" Concerning ambiance, Sands Chinese Restaurant (Irwindale) is clean, sleek, and minimalistic. The tables and floors are very shiny. There's about seven tables inside. There's also a customer restroom in the back. The location is also well-ventilated as soft music plays in the background. Overall, my family and I had a lovely experience at Sands Chinese Restaurant (Irwindale). The food is fresh, filling, affordable, and delicious. If curious, I definitely recommend. 5 out of 5

TK Cafe has thoroughly impressed me off first impression, and if I was closer, I'd probably be a regular here. For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

And their beverage menu is extensive as well, from your basic teas to milk tea boba and slushies. It's pretty impressive how these folks are able to squeeze all this food in this tiny little restaurant. Decided to go with the dish that everyone who has been to Hawaii has eaten at some point: the loco moco. I thought it might be a good way to gauge how authentic their food is. Ordered a side of Portuguese sausage musubi as well. Yeah, I'm a pig. Loco Moco - 5/10: so yeah. This definitely isn't your traditional loco moco, or at least the dish that I grew up eating (808 born and raised). Two patties, mounds of rice, eggs (unfortunately served over hard...should always be over easy so the yolk comes out) side mac salad - check, check, check and check. But then they bury on the bottom of this dish a bunch of stir-fried veggies, which threw me off a bit. This dish ain't supposed to be somewhat healthy. And then they throw a very light brown sauce on it that definitely isn't gravy. More like a brown sauce you'd mix in with pan-fried noodles. Yeah, just not the way this dish is supposed to made. But at least they give you a lot of it! - Portuguese Spam Musubi - 7.5/10: this one was much better. All the elements were there, and yes, they used Portuguese sausages. Hard to screw up musubi, but believe me, it can be done. Two pieces come in an order and they're on the larger side. So yeah, a little disappointed. I will say though that if I'm in the area again, I might order some dim sum. Happy feasting!

The claypot rice is ordered by the kilo so really is a big party dish but has nice succulent pieces of eel, really well cooked rice, and then of course the crispy rice at the bottom. The goose is very flavorful and not super gamey, it has more of a meaty texture and bite than the younger poultry an American pallette may be used to so word of warning. I really like the beansprout with pig intestine, again not really gamey but very savory with very tender, fatty pieces of intestine (highly recommend even if you're hesitant with intestine). The eggplant with salted fish is also intensely savory with a pungency from the salted fish that may seem like a lot but melds really well with the sauce and overall flavor of the dish. Though I haven't tried every dish on their menu, I've tried quite a bit and can confidently say they'll bring out some tasty Chinese dishes.

Honestly when you're craving Authentic Chinese food in the Baldwin Park area this is the spot! I…read morelove their House Special noodles with shrimp, beef, the works... it's filling thick noodles reminds me of Mongolian style noodles but enough to feed about 3-4 people in your family if you share. When walk in, there is enough tables on the side to sit down but the service is always warm and nice. I also like to order the house special (soup) style dumplings that are pork filled even though I generally don't eat pork, these dumplings are ground pork and delish and what you would want in a juicy dumpling. The dumpling soup 7/10 I'm not much of a Szechuan flavor girl. I do like it but I don't like it being drenched in it so much. Basically, watch out for the numbness and spiciness in this dish, although the lady taking my order did try to forewarn me by asking for my spice levels before hand. (: otherwise, great choices and great fix for Chinese cuisine! I always seem to order to go so I don't have any pics to attach to this review, but I hope to return soon to update my review.
