Great poke! They give large portions for about $16 regular (2 protein) or $18 large (3 protein). I love stopping by for a quick bite. The service is insanely fast and they never skim on the toppings. The ingredients are also very fresh, never had a bad experience. I high recommend building your own bowl and selecting everything you love! Some toppings are a few dollars extra but most are unlimited and included in the price. I also had the dole soft serve. Very good, but not good enough for the $4 price tag. I often also order on Grubhub or Ubereats. I noticed that those delivery orders tend to be a bit smaller portion and the prices are more on the apps than in store. Definitely recommend ordering in person and eating in the restaurant. They pack your bowl when you eat there (without a lid). The service is also very friendly. And they couldn't have picked a better location, right in the Fresh Meadows Shopping Center, where there is plenty of foot traffic to ensure they are never lacking for customers. The times I've visited were all unplanned and spontaneous - directly before/after a trip to the movie theatre, running errands at Kohl's, or shopping at Michael's. So convenience is definitely a huge plus! As for the food, they've got poke counter service down to a science. All the ingredients are fresh, the quality of the fish is pretty good (though not comparable to real Hawaiian poke), and it makes for a relatively healthy and quick meal. We've been fans of Pokeworks since they first opened in Manhattan to long lines and wait times. Once the Poke wave spawned wannabes all over the place, the lines disappeared and getting a poke bowl was no big deal. Then they expanded out to Queens and we drooled in anticipation. Though the fish cannot be as fresh as what we had in Hawaii, this is still pretty good. Choose your bowl or burrito in 3 sizes with 1,2 or 3 proteins. But start with your choice of base (Kale Noodles, Sushi Rice, Brown Rice, Quinoa or Salad). Then top that with your choice(s) of protein (Ahi Tuna (reg & spicy), Salmon (reg & spicy), Scallops, Shrimp or Tofu). Next are the sauces called flavors and you can get them light, medium & heavy (Classic, Umami Shoyu, Ponzu Fresh, Sriracha Aioli or Wasabi Aioli) or combine them as you like. If those choices aren't enough then thetoppings will really roll you. Mix-ins are Cilantro, Cucumber, Jalapeno, Orange slices and Sweet Onions. Additional toppings are Green Onion, Surimi Salad, Masago, Wasabi and Seaweed Salad, followed by the Crunchy toppings, Garlic Crisps, Onion Crisps, Toasted Rice Puffs, Macadamia Nuts, Shredded Nori and the new Szechuan Peanuts. If that didn't fill up your bowl, you can get extra of any thing though extra protein comes at an added charge. I could eat a bowl of those garlic and onion crisps myself, but then everybody would stay away from me for a few days. These bowls are a lot larger than I remembered them because this time I couldn't finish mine. The rice was also surprisingly warm when we got them home. My son polished off his in nothing flat and was looking at mine, smacking his lips. I quickly stuffed it in the fridge to finish off the next day. We also got two Spam Musubis and Miso Soups, so he lived with that. I really liked that they put a lot of extras in the miso soup, like tofu chunks, shredded nori and puffed rice balls. But I'm really disappointed in my recent order as the bowl was half empty, some rice undercooked, and the tuna and salmon was basically cooked instead of "torched". I thoroughly enjoy having tuna nigiri torched with a flame in sushi/omakase settings so I was extremely disappointed to have a cooked salmon and tuna poke bowl. When this place first opened they were knows for their poke burrito which is pretty much a giant sushi roll. It was a fun concept but now I stick to the bowls. I was pleasantly surprise how good this place was! We went in just to check it out but the place look so nice, we decided to stay and try it. Its kind of set up like Chipotle. You pick the kind of bowl you want and you fill it with different choice as you walk down the line. They also have signature works that you can choose from also. I picked the spicy ahi works and my daughter had the shiso salmon works. They let you add other toppings as you like when you walk down the line and also ask how much sauce you want. I ordered a pokebowl (white rice) that only comes in one size but a choice of 2 or 3 meats. The protein are all very fresh. Since it was BOGO 50% till Sept 22 for their soft opening, I decided to order two. One with salmon and tuna with the Pokeworks classic sauce and another one with shrimp and chicken with the Sriracha aioli sauce. I was very happy that they had edamame, Mandarin oranges, and mango slices as toppings as well as Kani salad (but they call it something else). I remember the first time I ever tried poke, I fell in love, and I remember the location I had it at was Pokeworks (but in the city). The Pokeworks in the newly Fresh Meadows location is clean and very good. I came in around a week ago during their soft opening and the staff was very attentive and nice. Anyway, it's a little messy when eating because it doesn't necessarily hold the best shape when it's covered in sauce, but still good. There were a good selection of proteins, mix-ins, and toppings that I enjoyed. They had a fun array of different drinks, definitely something for everyone. And they added spam masubi, so if I wasn't full I would've definitely tried it. Although the fish tasted fresh, I will say it didn't have much bite to it. Normally fish, especially getting sashimi is a little less mushy than what's there. I mean, the fish is precut so I got what I was expecting but I understand some people's problems with very soft small bits of fish. been coming to pokeworks for years, and will continue to return because i love their poke bowls. their food tastes fresh, they have a variety of options and can satisfy just about anybody. they have protein choices from spicy tuna and spicy salmon to regular tuna or salmon, or you can go vegan with tofu, or if you don't like raw they even have cooked shrimp or chicken. they have a selection of bases as well such as brown rice, sushi rice, edamame noodles or salads. for toppings there's a huge selection of things like pineapple, orange, edamame, jalapeño, seaweed, avocado, surimi salad and much much more. you can also get side dishes like miso soup, spicy edamame, garlic spam musubi pineapple dole whip and more. i'm always happy with flavors, and freshness whenever i visit. the interior is bright. the store is narrow and have some bar/window seating and a few tables they also have a bunch of outdoor seating as well. the service there is fast and the staff is attentive. you'll never go into this place and be ignored or left waiting. they are quick and patient and get the job done fast and with care. the only downside and the reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because of portion sizes depending on the person working. working at a restaurant where we weigh proteins and have specific numbered measuring scoops i understand they have rules they need to follow when giving a customer their toppings/proteins however there have been times where occasionally i'll get a solid scoop of edamame on my bowl and another time when the person is trying to be so accurate with the scoop that i only end up getting 4 little edamame beans or like 6 kernels of sweet corn. obviously you don't want to overdo it and give customers too much because then inventory will be off and the restaurant needs to make money but sometimes the scoops are lacking. but for the most part this place is A+ and i've been more times than i can count and will continue to come back! if you're looking for a good poke place that you can trust to get good poke all the time, this is the place read more
