Great little Taiwanese "fast food" or "snack" joint. We first encountered their little stand in the heart of downtown flushing inside one of them "mini malls" with small individual food stalls. This full restaurant on Bell Blvd took a while to open but the flavors are the same as what we loved in Flushing. Plus, they now some typical Taiwanese rice and noodle dishes as well. All super flavorful.

Legend Chicken's 2nd location recently opened in Bayside. I've been (many times) to their Flushing location which is a teeny tiny stall inside Foody Town food court and was happy to see they have expanded to a bigger space. They are still currently in their soft opening stage and are offering an (abbreviated) Tasting menu all this month. They have also teamed up with Fortune Tea and have an expanded boba tea menu. We ordered: Legend Pops ($8): one of their most popular items is their fried chicken pops so I was glad to see it on the tasting menu. The chicken was lovely; was breaded nicely, seasoned well, and the meat was moist and tasty. Curly Fries ($7): perfectly fried, crunchy exterior and nicely seasoned. While I did enjoy this, I don't really know why I got it! You can get fries anywhere; I really should have gotten their Blood Rice Cake instead. Lo Ba Bun ($8): this Taiwanese Pork and Rice Bowl was a deal at eight bucks. It consisted of braised minced pork over white rice with a hardboiled egg and thinly sliced pickled radish. The minced pork was very tasty and not too fatty. My only complaint about this dish was that they were a bit stingy with the meat. Lots of fluffy rice but not enough meat. They currently only accept cash so plan ahead. Also, they are running two soft opening promos: get a free Jasmine Green tea with any $15 purchase or purchase a Snackbowl for $18.88 (Legend Pops, Fries, Jasmine Green Tea and Mochi Donut) Will definitely be back once they are out of their soft opening stage to try their expanded menu.

Yay! So happy to see the legendary Legend Chicken come to the Bayside area! Taiwanese Fried Chicken snacks are a special little corner of the food world and whenever we miss our beloved trip to Taiwan, we think of Legend Chicken. But now we don't have to trek all the way to busy Flushing! It seems like they're still in the process of working out some menu and operational kinks - service was a bit slow and awkward but the food was just as we'd expected. Their signature Legend (Chicken) Pops were fresh and crispy and great. They also have other items like the Braised Pork over Rice (Lo Ba Bun), along with snacks such as Curly Fries, Blood Cakes etc. I couldn't get a photo of the Menu and can't recall if they had quite everything that's at the Flushing location but we'll be going back again soon! PS - They also have Fortune Tea drinks.

When we come as a family, we always get the soy milk, salted tofu (personal favorite), pan fried dumplings, steamed veggie dumplings, scallion, pancake with beef, you tiao and stinky tofu. The stinky tofu isn't that pungent, but the accompanying pickle vege is just perfect and the fry tofu is suitable for the entire family to enjoy.

Got the Taiwanese pork chop rice, I appreciate that they are smaller medallions which is easy to give to my toddler but it's a bit greasy and flavorless. Interestingly enough soup dumplings are pretty good, but the fried wonton are meh. Not really a fan of the open ends, which means all the juice is already leaked out. The eggplant lunch special was pretty good but there's absolutely no meat. For a Friday where there was only 2 other tables the entire time we were there the service was crap. I thought it was bad last time I was there when it was packed but I guess it doesn't matter. I usually expect bad service at Chinese places but they didn't even give my toddler a fork which is a whole new level of bad. And of course the service is super slow, the lady that is there just can't do it all herself. My biggest gripe about this place is the Taiwanese food just isn't great.

It's before Yelp and even before internet time). I could not imagine I can have this noodle in Bayside now. Comparing to the famous beef noodles I had, this is pretty good but still a way to go. Let's start with the noodle. It is al dente and carry the soup really well. The braised beef made well too. The tenderness is just fine. However, I missed the big piece of meat instead of bite size chopped cube. It is easy to eat but could be more satisfying. The Shanghainese Pok Choy is a must in order to complete this dish authentically. However, it's overly chopped. I missed the couple halved Shanghainese Pok Choy placed nicely on the side. For the soup, the fave is fine and the balance of the sour and savory is just to the point. However, I wish I could have more pickled veggie that added more sourness to the soup. It would be much better to place a container of pickled veggie on each table for the customer to add it freely. That would be perfect. This place is cozy, clean and neat. Thanks for the ambiance. I think I would still come back when I crave for Taiwanese noodles. Lap Yin Calvin Kwok

The chef is formerly from Ku Shain Taiwanese Restaurant from Flushing back in the days. I am in love with their Taiwanese Style Fried Rice Noodle. This dish alone keeps me coming back. Their Fried Popcorn Chicken is also quite yummy. Mince Pork Over Rice is hot or miss for some reason. With that said, I feel that their stir fry dishes falls a bit short compared to some of their competitors. Two of my favorite dishes, Fly Heads (too greasy) and Sautéed Kidney (overcooked), are somewhat underwhelming. I am also not a fan of their Beef Noodle Soup and Thread Noodle Soup. Anyway, I do like enough dishes here that I would come back to keep trying more of the menu. I'm always glad that we have more options for Taiwanese food, and I hope this restaurant stays around.

Coming to Bayside for dining is always enjoyable for its calming environment. Parking is also very easy around here.
