Every once in a while, I crave American Chinese food, especially the non authentic kind. I came across Amy 's I Chinese Restaurant and saw a lot of good reviews and ratings, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the lunch special, which came with fried chicken wings, young chow fried rice, a shrimp roll and a small side of fries. It was decently priced for the amount of food you get. The wings were crispy, but unfortunately, they just weren't that good. The fried rice and fries were both really bland and lacked flavor. The fries didn't even seem to have any salt on them. I was looking for a different Chinese restaurant to get delivered by Grubhub and so I tried this establishment. The soup was excellent and the ribs very good. The shrimp dish was very enjoyable. That said, the egg foo young was not up to par and the sauce it came with (crucial) was garbage. The shrimp toast came burnt. Aside from the way it was cooked, it looked like triangles of Texas toast with something on top. Not what I am accustomed to. My search continues to find an alternative to Fortune Garden 8. I was looking for a place that was convenient and served decent Chinese food, so I stumbled across this place. I ordered sesame chicken and noodles, and the delivery process was insanely slow--a 45-minute wait--and it was only a mile away from where I was. When I finally got my food, the driver was very disrespectful and kept asking for tips, even telling us that if we didn't tip him, he'd make us pick up the food downstairs (I live in an apartment). Best Chinese Takeout spot in Flushing/Bayside. I order from here often and the prices are great, food is really good. Have tried a variety of dishes and all of them have been delicious. I crave their General Tso's Chicken. If I could I would eat it almost everyday. Their Egg Foo Young is very good and the sauce is not made of that thick corn starch gravy. Tried some classics. Food tasted interesting, little different from the norm take out I am used to. The pork dumplings were very bready and thick with bread flavor which I didn't like. It's not always about what happened, it's about how you make up for it. The restaurant sent us one wrong meal out of 4. I called to notify them and the owner, Katie, answered. I explained what happened and she not only apologized but offered to pay for the correct order personally, so that I wouldn't have to pay again. The issue was that I ordered the food through door dash because the restaurant is over the delivery distance limit. So, her personal driver was not able to bring me the order. All I did was reorder the food on door dash and I sent her the bill and she reimbursed me in full. This type of customer service is rarely displayed and needs to not only be recognized, but celebrated regularly. Personal shout out to Katie and the entire staff. Not only is their customer service amazing, they are very polite, and the food is always fresh and delicious. We have plenty of Chinese restaurants in our local neighborhood but we pay the extra fee just for Amy's. We've even eaten at the site once or twice and are always dealt with legit. Placed an order at 5:30pm. Was given a delivery time of 6:10pm. Giving them a 10 minute windows, I called the restaurant at 6:20pm. After ringing for a couple of minutes, a woman answered and when I inquired about my order I was told that they didn't even start to make cook it. Told maybe 20-30 minutes more. No apologies no nothing. The food maybe good but in my neighborhood (Bayside) there are plenty of Chinese takeouts just as good.
