Craving poke after visiting Pasadena and I've tried the other spots except this one. Interesting cause the place doesn't really look like a poke place. Walked in and was greet and ordered the medium size with 3 proteins. Grab rice, salmon, tuna and spicy tuna. We had a hard time understanding each other since the glass guard was pretty dang high, I didn't get exactly what I wanted but wasn't too bother by it. Sucks that avocado was premium topping. Maybe i'm just a cheapo and other place it was complimentary. I asked for the spicy mayo and the person helping out kept on insisting to get the house sauce even though I didn't want it and eventually just caved in after going back and forth a few time and got both sauce. Quality of the fish seem to be okay wasn't the freshest, I felt like it was room temperature which aint a good thing. Spicy tuna was lacking flavor no heat more of a mush texture if anything. Portion size of the medium looked like it would fit in their small bowl. Won't be coming back :( read more

I had to throw away the seaweed salad as I found it sitting in lots of fluid-tasted super soggy. The lettuce in the bowl tasted old and looked wilted. I did love the salmon and tuna. I don't understand why they would throw that in with a wilted salad. It changed the taste of the bowl and not for the better. All the boba and drinks look good. Maybe I'll try that instead. POKE! POKE! Gotta eat 'em all! I was craving poke one day and found that this place recently opened in the area. This place is really chic and modern and I am very pleased with the quality of the food. My boyfriend and I ordered their medium size ($9.75) so you get 3 scoops of fish along with add-ons and toppings. They have masago, seaweed salad, cucumbers, etc but avocado costs extra money. I love the addition of garlic and seaweed flakes along with your choice of spicy mayo. Along with the fish, you can choose your base (white rice, greens, or 1/2 rice 1/2 greens). I opted for the half and half option and my medium bowl was very filling and delicious. One thing about the fish though is that their scoops are kind of "small" and the fish are mixed with some veggies (onions etc) so you don't really get that full scoop of fish. However, if you're willing to overlook that, then that's fine. When you visit, just be expected for street parking. I recommend coming during non-busy hours. =) read more

This place has much better teas than poke. I guess that's why it's PokeMix by Flour + Tea and not the other way around. There's another place nearby that's just Flour + Tea so my guess is this place started out as a tea and bakery shop and decided to add poke to the mix. You get to customize your poke bowl, just like Pokinometry in Anaheim. I'm not a fan of Pokinometry either but I think it still does a slightly better job than this place. You choose the size of your bowl (small, medium, or large); select a base (rice, seasonal greens, or half/half); select your protein (salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, albacore, shrimp, scallops, and imitation crab meat); and choose your add-ons like wasabi, ginger, various sauces, etc. I got a medium bowl, half/half, with salmon, tuna, and scallops. The tuna and salmon didn't have any seasoning so they were quite bland without the poke sauce. Since the sauce was just added at the end, the flavor didn't come through. I still prefer the traditional poke which is marinated ahead of time with sauce and onions. The scallops had some seasoning but they tasted really fishy. They definitely weren't sushi quality scallops. I did like the hibiscus tea and the green tea, and some of the mochi bread I got. The teas can be adjusted for sweetness and they seemed to take great pride and care with their teas. I would give this place 4 stars for its teas but 2 stars for poke. I was at the Arroyo location and after making my purchases, turned out the coffee shop was packed full on a week night. They suggested I come over here and when I showed up, the sweet girl behind the counter was actually expecting me. That is nice and attentive customer service! At the end of the day, it is those little touches that keeps me coming back. It doesn't matter if some highly acclaimed coffee shop had the BEST roasted coffee. If their attitude is to bash unsatisfied customers who take the time to give them feedback, instead of improving and express a simple "I'm so sorry for the bad experience and we will go better, thank you for the candid feedback"...... well, it is certainly not my problem. I've come across one too many of those "hippy" coffee shop, and stay away from those. This Flour+Tea location was perfect for my 1-hour wait that evening. Spacious and lots of comfortable seating. Free wifi. And Yelp checking gives you a discount on drinks! Parking lot is back around the building. USA little hard to find but I called and the girl was nice to explain what to look for. I ended up choosing take out. Upon arrival at home, I was reluctant to open my bowl. My bowl was a little work of art. The bowl after all was really good and I found that a small was more than enough for me. Anything bigger and I would've made two meals. For $10.89 it was a great Saturday afternoon lunch. Compared to some of the tiny eateries and store fronts that I've visited in Hawaii or LA, ambience and space is really ultra-modern for poke place. They're owned and operated by Flour + Tea because the familiar décor and pastries amplify everywhere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Order style has a bit of Chipotle theme where you pick your base (rice, salad, both), (main toppings - fish) and customized your bowl preferences. There's 3 sizes: small-2 scoops ($7.75), medium-3 scoops ($9.75), and large-4 scoops ($11.75). To maximize my poke experience, I ordered the large bowl and ended up choosing the ahi, spicy tuna, scallops, and albacore. The base consisted of white rice (no brown rice available yet), pickled cucumber, masago (fish roe) and seaweed. Poke was tasty! The marinade and seasoning were on point. Though they were good, quality and freshness wasn't Aloha standards in my opinion. I thought the fish cut into cubes were too small and I prefer my spicy ahi in chunks, not minced. Pretty decent poke place. The pros: fresh fish, good poke sauce, nice toppings. The cons: strange poke (scallops?? ), salad instead of rice?. I suppose my cons are mostly that it is very anti-traditional poke that I am used to, but I feel that the unusual flavors/combos just don't work. I stick to the classics of ahi, spicy ahi (wish it weren't crushed up kind), and salmon, over brown rice. As long as I do that, I am pretty satisfied with the place. Drinks are good here- loved the Taro smoothie. Also curious to try their packaged baked goods- including the Oreo brownie. Not a big fan of the place overall , but find myself coming here relatively often because it's a very healthy and decent tasting meal. read more

I've checked out a lot of tea and boba places, but nothing compares to the way they make their teas. If you want less/more sugar/ice; or if you dont like your drink at all, they will modify your drink or sometimes just make you a brand new one. I've tried their oolong peach green tea with aloe, their mango peach tea, their love potion tea and their jasmine milk tea, and everything is very delicious and refreshing. I'm definitely coming back again to try their famous Love Potion (passion fruit and strawberry green tea) blended with ice. Their poke bowls are really tasty! This place is a popular spot during lunch time. They always have plenty of customers and loyal fans, including my friends and I. First time we went in when we visited our son who is taking his PhD at Caltech based on reviews from Yelp and we're very disappointed as the salmon was not fresh at all. Bad part is we took it to go to dine at the Caltech grounds 2 minutes away from the restaurant. It couldn't have gotten bad in two minutes of driving to Caltech. We ordered three large bowls. The portions from the two gentlemen while they were scooping the fish was so small and they had to push the scooped fish towards the brim of the fish container to lessen the scoop. Up to a point when adding Ginger to the mix some fell on the table to where the bowls were being prepared and the gentleman put it back on the bowl. I had to ask him to take out that portion. So for my review for this restaurant is only one star due to that experience and also the "fishy" taste of the items we ordered. My wife even noticed that the fish doesn't look fresh at all as it did not have that "glow" coming out of the fish. Since it's now changed, we haven't had a change to go to this location which focuses less on the baked goods (they still have some good cookies) but on the poke! Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to try the poke but we ordered some drinks. My favorite part? They have soy milk! I ALWAYS want to get a milk tea and most places do not have diary free milk, so I end up getting a regular tea which is still good. But I saw they had a matcha pistachio milk tea and I knew I had to have it. I ordered that with soy milk and added boba. My boyfriend ordered their mango freeze with boba AND jelly.
