Right when we got in, no one was in the front, but we heard chatter in the kitchen. They said they would be right there. We saw some paper & pencil to fill in what we wanted so we did that. The prices are definitely cheaper than other poke places so I see the appeal. It took a little longer than I expected. We both got the poke sauce (spicy), a regular and signature bowl. For proteins, I got hamachi, spicy tuna & shrimp and the spicy crab as a base with brown rice and salad, Anyway, the sauce was way too salty and overwhelming, especially at the bottom. We've been passing by this place ever since they opened. The timing was just never quite right for us. We are definitely particular about our poke. There are only a couple of places on the mainland that we really enjoy getting poke from. There were other customers when we walked in close to 1pm on a Friday. The two employees that we saw looked like they were doing prep work to get ready for the dinner rush. We were greeted when we walked in, and we were directed to where the menu was posted. There are order sheets for those who plan on ordering poke bowls. Just place checkmarks next to whatever you want and hand it over when you're ready. They'll verify what you want, ring you up, take your money and then make your order. Service was friendly and all of our questions answered. Once we ordered, she paid and waited inside while I went outside to walk the dog. We didn't time it, but it seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time for our order to be ready. Once we got our orders, we took them home for lunch. California Rolls - 3 - By appearance only, this was a 5. However, once bit into it, the score dropped. Why? There was no seasoning on the rice. It was quite literally, seaweed, rice, crab, minimal mayo, and black sesame seeds. The seasoning mix for the rice usually consists of unseasoned rice vinegar, sugar, sea salt, and kombu (dried kelp). When my wife makes sushi rice, she uses a wooden bowl and sprinkles the seasoning liquid onto the rice while turning the rice and I'm standing there waving a fan to cool the hot rice. Yes, it is labor intensive, and I've replaced my labor efforts with an electric fan. Every brand of mayonnaise has its own distinctive flavor. Fans of Best Foods usually don't seem to care for Kraft. Kewpie, Japanese mayo is very different from American mayo. Her Signature Poke Bowl - 5 - She absolutely loved her bowl. All of her flavors were on point, and she really liked the ponzu sauce that she had chosen. My Signature Poke Bowl - 4 - I wasn't in love with my bowl. I found the crab mix and some of the fish to be too cold. For food safety reasons, refrigerated foods need to be kept below 40-degrees Fahrenheit. For maximum flavor, the fish should be a bit warmer, some say just below body temp, some say just below room temp. I did really like the fruit that came with the signature bowls, avocado, mango and pineapple (at no additional charge). Would I try them again? Yes, I would get another poke bowl there. Then I would force myself to wait a half hour before diving in so the fish could warm up a bit. On the California Roll, I'd probably pass. read more

They have smoothies as well, which are just milk and flavoring but quite tasty if you want something sweet with your meal. The establishment itself is not much to look at, so I'd recommend take out. They have a electronic screen you can order on when you walk in but you can also just order with a traditional paper poke bowl form. There are 3 tables in the establishment, so you could eat in in a pinch. The service is just fine. They take your order and it comes out quick. They have weird hours and I think are closed one day of the work week (Tuesday?) And closed on Sundays as well. But, don't quote me on that! Just look at the hours before you go. read more

I love visiting this restaurant because of the convenient location, fair-priced sushi and poke, and how there's never anyone in line. I've been here multiple times usually getting the same rolls so it's always easy to decide on what to get. My go-to rolls have either been a Dragon Roll, Lion King Roll, or Crunchy California Roll. I ordered my usual Lion King Roll ($12), but today I decided to try a Baked Scallop Roll ($13) instead of my usual Dragon or Crunchy. Everything about these rolls was delicious and I loved every bite. What's convenient about this location is that every time I get rolls it's always to-go, so the packaging is nice for taking home. My only gripe that's extremely nit-picky is how the service can sometimes be slow. It's completely understandable though for this type of restaurant because every time I've been here it's only two workers and I can understand they want to put quality into every meal. Regardless, I'll still come here regularly whenever I want good sushi instantly without the trouble of ordering through a large restaurant. I was extremely disappointed by this place unfortunately... This place is pretty close to me, so I wanted to give it a try. I've also been trying to eat healthier and change my diet a bit, so I figured this would be a good place to go in place of others in terms of dining out. I ordered a regular Poke Bowl - instead of rice, I ordered organic salad. I didn't realize it was going to be entirely jam packed with lettuce.. it really didn't leave any room for anything else. You're supposed to receive 3 scoops or protein. When I opened it, there was barely any fish in there! I was really disappointed. It was almost as if I got 3 half scoops or something. In addition to that, they barely put any crab in there. I ended up basically eating a miso salad. One thing that they did add a decent amount of in there was the miso dressing. There weren't much fried onion toppings either. So lame. My friend who ordered with me was not happy with this place either for a lot of the same reasons along with commenting that the fish did not taste fresh. I can attest that the fish tasted a lot more fishier than other poke places I've been to, which was off-putting.. A couple hours later, I start feeling like crap. Like really bad. My stomach was hurting and I felt like throwing up. I hadn't ingested anything prior or after that meal, so there's nothing else I could have questioned that reaction to. Anyway, it's unfortunate because I had high hopes for this place, but my experience was a really disappointing one. They made the hand rolls perfect as I like to have the salmon, skin and Unagi on the crunchy side, the poke bowl was made to my specific direction with no rice or salad. I asked what was in the squid salad and she offered me a sample to try! I wish it was just plain squid, but definitely was not expecting that offer. I ordered a simple bowl with just spicy crab salad, 3 scoops of salmon, and rice, with every single sauce except unagi and ponzu. I also asked for extra sauce on the side and they didn't forget it. The bowl itself was way bigger and filling than I expected. I was starving when I came in and ended up having a hard time finishing it. The fish tasted very fresh and the size of the cubes were cut perfectly. This is also one of the most affordable poke places I've been to, especially given how big the bowls are. We placed our orders by filling out a couple of laminated cards and choosing what we wanted in our bowls; additionally, there are rice plates, other dishes, sushi, and appetizers available to choose from on the menu boards behind the counter. I went with the bowl with three scoops of fish and got all spicy tuna. I also got steamed rice, edamame, seaweed salad, avocado ($1.00 extra), cucumber, jalapeño, house sauce, ponzu sauce, miso sauce, and shiso furikake. I was disappointed that there was no tamago as an option. Overall the flavors were good and worked well together, but something about the topping options seemed a little lacking. There was a lot of food in my bowl and definitely a lot of fish, but I didn't like that the spicy tuna wasn't cut into chunks like the ahi tuna. It was, instead, three scoops of ground tuna spooned onto the top of the bowl. It was at least pretty spicy, but the form factor wasn't great and not super appealing. While I didn't have any issues with the freshness of my fish, my fiancé claimed his fish wasn't very fresh, which seems to be a complaint other reviewers have had here. I thought all of the sauces I chose were good, but also felt like there wasn't a lot of sauce in the bowl despite having ordered three. Just overall, my bowl was fine but not great and I wasn't happy to hear the fish wasn't super fresh in my fiancé's bowl. An ok meal, but not sure how I feel about coming back. The spicy tuna had the perfect amount of spice! One of the best I've had in the area. We gobbled it up with no left overs and washed it down with a yummy thai iced tea. Poke Kitchen is located on a main street, but the quieter part. There is a parking lot here off to the side with plenty of parking. No service at all, no one really acknowledge you either. I ordered on the phone for to go, and they gave about 10 minutes estimate, so I gave them almost 15 minutes before walking in - they really did not start to make my order until a few minutes after I walked in the store. What is the point of ordering ahead on the phone then? As I was watching the employee make the order before mine, go do other stuff, then continue to make my sushi with the same gloves make me question how sanitary this place was. Unfortunately, I was hungry and felt bad to cancelled an order like that, I took the L. The salmon did not taste fresh at all, it tasted fishy and slimy, but I tried to mask the smell and taste by drenching my sushi in soy sauce.
