I've live in San Leandro for over 30 years and this is the 1st time trying Makiyaki. Always wanted to try, now that I have, I'm not impressed. 1st the salad that came with the meal were old and turning brown. Sashimi were inconsistently sliced, some were very thin and some were regular. Nigiri's had very thin slice of sashimi with lot of rice. California roll had a very sweet taste to the imitation crab. Handrolls were huge and tasted okay. Miso Soup had good flavor. Ordered for pick up, and was ready within about 25 mins as promised.

Makiyaki is a win, especially for the price. I had the bento box, and it was really filling and delish. The California rolls were thick, fresh, and way better than expected--clean flavors, no shortcuts. The salmon was Soft, buttery, and cooked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, nothing felt rushed or cut corners. Service was excellent--attentive, fast, and friendly. For the quality of food and service at this price point, it's a standout spot. Definitely worth coming back.

I think we found our new favorite Japanese spot close to home! We moved to San Leandro this year and tried a lot of Japanese places in the area. We came here on a Monday night at 6:45pm and it wasn't that busy. There's only few tables inside so this place is probably packed on the weekends. I ordered the Hamachi Kama dinner entree. I love Hamachi Kama, and was surprised to see it as a dinner entree. A lot of places that have Hamachi Kama serve it as an appetizer and it's usually around $13-16. So I was surprised to see it for $14. My meal included miso soup, salad, and rice. I also ordered spicy tuna roll for my side. The Hamachi Kama was cooked perfectly and the skin was crispy. It also came with a vinegar based sweet soy dipping sauce which I liked a lot. My spicy tuna was delicious as well and not dry and stringy like some places. The customer service was excellent and they kept checking on us and refilling our water. I can't wait to come back.

Chicken udon: Very hot, lots of veggies, chicken is super tender and juicy, although it kinda lacks flavor. Soup is the usual light flavorful soup. My only other problem is it feels like 10% udon and 90% everything else. Very little noodles. Good quality everything otherwise Overall, its good, the chicken makes up for the lack of udon. But every ingredient was tasty and tender. Udon came with salad I'd say its worth for the price, I also got very full from it Extra Nice atmosphere, very decorated, feels japanese Small ish interior Slightly busy on 12pm on friday. Around 3-4 parties currently Was very hot inside, was there no AC? 4/5

Came here on a fluke. It was late, they were close, and they were open. I'm glad I stopped in. The food was really good and the service was just as nice. Definitely coming here again

Okay, I love it here. I work nearby and haven't tried many restaurants in the area. My husband and I were gonna get boba and decided to try it out here. Everything is delicious. The salad dressing is light, and the teriyaki sauce was so good. The fish was really fresh and the chicken I ordered was not chewy at all. We ordered a few sushi rolls and they were also delicious! I love that the tempura doesn't have too much batter on it. You know what I mean lol. Everything was so good we came back again for lunch the next day with the kids. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Refilling tea and cleaning off empty plates as needed. I feel like it's really affordable too compared to other sushi places near by. It's a cute little restaurant and I'll be coming here often!

A great place for Sushi! Everyone here is always welcoming. We usually dine in for lunch. Easy parking. Ordered the Yummy Roll and salad. Both were great! Very inviting place. We will continue to visit!

The sushi was relatively fresh but not a lot of diversity in their selection. It's great for a quick fix, the service was decent. The location is great given its proximity to many other restaurants but parking is difficult.

Both were so good, but my tonkatsu ramen completely stole the show. This might be the best one I've ever had, and I've had a lot. The fish was fresh, clean, and cut well. No funky smell, no weird texture. Just straightforward sashimi done right. They were generous with the ginger, which I appreciated. I wouldn't have minded a little more wasabi, but that's a minor gripe and easy to ask for next time. What really stood out was the to go presentation. The platter was laid out nicely, not thrown together, and the packaging was actually cute. Little details like that matter, especially when you're taking food home. This place sits right on the East Oakland San Leandro border, easy to miss if you're not looking, but definitely worth stopping for. For the price, quality, and portion, I'll absolutely be back. This is one of those spots you keep in rotation when you want sashimi without getting robbed.

Portions on the boxes were plentiful and the rolls were decent sized. Spent about 200 (including tip) on 8 people (each getting an item) not bad. Only problem was that I did put instructions on a couple items and they were overlooked (make spicy) so I went inside to get spicy mayo on the side. I could tell why they didn't answer - it was packed! The staff was doing a great job at pumping out orders for to-go and dine-in. Food was good. Service was food. The added .5 stars definitely has to be that they didn't forget an item.

Since it was a birthday celebration we ordered agedashi tofu, gyoza, chirashi sushi, sake don, salmon lover roll, unagi hand roll, salmon skin hand roll, 2 - three item bento boxes (one with salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and short ribs and the other with salmon teriyaki, sashimi and beef teriyaki. The service was attentive and everything was tasty and fresh. I enjoyed my salmon skin hand roll, my 3 item bento box with salmon teriyaki, 4 piece sashimi (2 tuna 2 salmon) and beef teriyaki. I really wouldn't call this place a Japanese restaurant, but rather a Japanese-Chinese fusion…read morerestaurant. If you go in with tempered expectations, you may have a better experience than I did going in assuming this was standard Japanese fare. We went with the black garlic ramen (spicy), the lamb, beef, and black pork skewers (three skewers each), potato skewers, green onion skewers, tuna nigiri, tamago nigiri, chicken karaage, and gyoza. The skewers all tasted the same due to the HEAVY amount of dry seasoning rubbed onto every skewer, which is the same spice rub regardless of the meat. The layer of spice is so thick that it falls off everywhere as you're eating it. They also used the same spice mix on the potatoes and in the ramen, making the entire meal incredibly one note in terms of flavor profile. The flavors also clashed with the garlic ramen. The spices tasted like what I've had before in the broth at malatang restaurants and was a poor match for Japanese food. The chicken karaage was actually super delicious, but was more like popcorn chicken than karaage. It was also served with honey mustard, which made it feel like a different dish entirely. The gyoza were fine, nothing to write home about, and the sushi was good. The tuna was fresh and the tamago had a bit of caramelization going on, which was different than other examples I've had of it and I liked it. If you ignore for a moment that you're in a Japanese restaurant and came for Japanese food, you might have a good time here. The meat skewers were cooked perfectly and delicious, the ramen was prepared very well (and pretty generous in size), and the fish was fresh. But the one-note Chinese flavors took me out of this meal entirely and it ultimately fell flat for me, though my husband really enjoyed his meal. While I'm not keen on returning, it at least made a fan out of him. Important thing to note about the menu, specifically the skewers: be careful about the pricing. The wording on the menu is, frankly, nonsensical, but what it's trying to say is that the skewers are one price if you order less than a particular number of them, and a different price if you order more than a certain number of them. We didn't figure this out until after we'd already placed our order and they'd started grilling the meat, but we ended up with a slightly bigger bill than we intended. We of course didn't argue -- as Judge Judy always says, we ate the steak -- but the vague, terrible language of that part of the menu left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended).
