I 've had this place bookmarked for a long time. We had the limu poke and the siracha mayo. They were both okay but the spicy poke was my favorite. At Poke ETC. you will get poke that is more similar to actual Hawaiian style poke rather than that fusion stuff that is so trendy right now. It is pure fish and rice which I personally prefer. So the taste and quality of the fish has to be on point. Quality was good but the limu poke was lacking an ingredient I could not pin point. Also, the musubi was alright...I liked how they add furikake to the rice but the rice ratio to the spam is too much. It is a very small place with only a few seats so be prepared to eat in your car or to go it. I would come back here to get my Hawaiian style poke. read more

my absolute favorite poke spot! i drive 30 minutes because no other poke will suffice. this is served in a traditional hawaiian style. you get more protein here than other places that mix your poke with toppings. my favorite is the spicy mayo and kimchi! i do wish they had salmon poke ready like they do with the tuna. i don't get the salmon poke because i do not want to wait for the employees to make it (extra work for them, awkward) and it won't be marinated like the tuna is. so i only get the tuna poke. that's the only thing i would change. read more

Had my first poke here and it was a pretty good experience! I picked the salmon poke bowl (I felt like that was pretty standard) and picked the limu flavor. It was pretty flavorful! I had no problem with the taste at all. It came with some white rice. I thought it was delicious but I did end up paying about $10 for something that wasn't super big. I wish I had gotten a little more. The store is also super tiny but that had no effect on my review. Just a heads up. Otherwise, it was a good first poke experience! read more

Most Poke places in the Southbay are located deep in Torrance, which is fine but this place is easily accessible right off the freeway and there's always parking. It's not your typical "poke" with your choice of seaweed and/or ginger and/or avocado. It's literally just fish, your choice of sauce and rice. Apparently Poke Etc has been deemed to have the top 10 best poke in LA(?) I do occasionally miss having my plethora of options though. Minus one star simply for the inconsistency in fish portion. Yum, yum freakin' yum! If you're in the area & craving fresh authentic Hawaiian Poké this is the place to hit up! This gem is hidden in a small plaza off the 405 freeway. It's a block or so away from the Carson city hall! The portions and price points are pretty spot on. I believe the poke bowl which includes rice & generous amount of poke was only $8. My favorite poke is the spicy & spicy mayo flavors. I find that the spicy isn't overbearing and it's just right! The spicy mayo is good if you want a more mild & creamy version of the spicy poke. I live in Gardena and have access to some pretty delish poke, but I will say this place takes the cake! Soooooo, I'm from Hawaii; born and raised. I know "legit" poke and plate lunch spots when I see them. I wanted to give these guys a better rating but I just can't...the local girl in me won't let me, lol. I'll start off by saying, the poke is good, better than most actually. However, this review is primarily about the other food items I ordered. Additionally, I ordered via Yelp (Grub Hub took the order) because I was next door at the doctor's office and in a complete rush that day. My goal was to swoop in, pick up my food, and hit the road again. When I walked in, I told the guy behind the counter that I was there to pick up my order. He said "What order?" and I was like..."Wait, are you asking me WHAT I ordered or literally as if you have no idea that an order was even placed?" He proceeded to tell me that they no longer do business with Grub Hub because they don't get their money. While that's all sad to hear, I was already charged the full amount by Grub Hub so I informed him of that. All he kept saying was "Well, we've told them to stop using us...yada, yada, yada...." Long story short, by that time I was irritated because I wanted my food that I already paid for and now he's telling me to cancel the order on Yelp and reorder with him. Ultimately because I was so crunched on time and starving because I had not eaten all day, I paid for my food AGAIN with him and left (disputing the Grub Hub charge with my bank). OK so fine...that was done with and whatever. At least I had my food, right? WRONG. I ordered the plate with kalua pig, ahi, and shoyu chicken. What can I say other than the flavors were just off. Shoyu chicken in Hawaii is a super simple recipe...shoyu, water, sugar combination...ginger and green onion to flavor. IDK what that was but it was almost sour like an adobo taste. The kalua pig was better than the chicken but not necessarily "good." It was dry and missing the smokey flavor that makes kalua pig what it is. After trying multiple bites, I gave up and just ate my poke by itself, which again was good. I am not lying when I say that because I paid almost $50 for my damn food, I wasn't going to throw it away. So, I went home and fed it to my dog. For real...no joke. Bottom line...no can with this place. Maybe I'll grab poke every now and then but no more with the other food items. Sorry Poke Etc. but you need to cut off that Grub Hub relationship! read more

Love this place. It's pretty much a tie for here and jus poke for south bay poke places for me. Poke etc has far more options for poke as well as other Hawaiian dishes like kalua pork, katsu, etc. They're also super reasonably priced imo. My favorites are the spicy poke and the basic spicy or kimchi. If you get the poke + kalua pork combo be prepared for a generous serving of the pork (which is a tad salty, but still delicious). I probably end up going here for lunch at least once a week unless I alternate with Jus Poke. They are leagues better than any of those build your own poke places. read more

This poke place is located inside Angelito's Market. First visit: Aloha combo ($8.50): poke, kalua pork, and rice. My ahi limu poke was fresh but pretty mediocre. It had generous amount of red seaweed though.. Guava juice ($1.25): your typical Hawaiian canned juice. This is a take out place with only one table and two chairs inside the market. I ended up eating in my car because I was so hungry. I went back for the second visit because I remember sampling oyster sauce poke and it was kinda good. Oyster poke: I got a small container for $10.50. It was not that fresh and kinda slimy :( My friend and her mom liked it though. Ginger ($3.95): I got this for my friend's mom and she liked it too. Poke choices: ahi tuna, salmon, octopus and mussel. Flavors: limu (seaweed), oyster sauce, spicy (with or without mayo), oka (coconut milk & lemon), fresh ginger, kimchee, wasabi, sweet & spicy or shoyu. What a pleasant surprise.. The people that work at the Poke Etc on Willow in Long Beach, also work at the Carson location. I've been on a poke addiction for a long ass time, so I decided to give this Poke Etc a try. And I may need to come back to the plaza for my Filipino food fix. Tons of Filipino restaurants here to satisfy my craving. First thing you notice about this location is that its pretty damn small in here. Probably seats only 6 to 7 people. Andddd to the Poke. I usually get the sweet and spicy salmon Poke bowl. Lately I've been hooked on the spicy mayo salmon poke bowl. Taste great! Price: about $11 with a coke. I think they charge a bit extra for the salmon Parking: Tons of parking. Service: Always really friendly. The worker recognized me because I go to the Long Beach location a lot for lunch. I'd give this place 3 stars, but the portions are great for the price! Poke etc is located at the back of the plaza, closest to Bonita street/across the school. There's plenty of parking, but just make sure you don't come around 3PM! Lots of school traffic and kids walking in the plaza and across the street. Definitely a to-go place. The inside seats like 5 people against the window. The menu is pretty straight forward. I would recommend getting the chef special on the small chalkboard menu since you get a bit of everything. This is a small mom and pop place and I don't think they get much business since they're always in the back of the kitchen. there's no bell or anything on the door but there's a bell on top of the poke fridge that you should ring if you're not greeted by the employee. I got the chicken Katsu chef special with the spicy mayo which was really good! I wish they gave more rice though. I really liked the poke I chose. I could tell they don't use high quality bc you can feel the "fat" on the tuna as you chew. and since the spicy mayo sauce is like orange it's a lot easier to hide it. My boyfriend got the chicken adobo with the kimchee poke. He thought his food was ok. the adobo got really oily towards the end and preferred the spicy mayo poke over the kimchee poke. He agreed that there wasn't enough rice either. Don't expect high quality poke though. I like this place because of the quantity they give you and the different choices they have! read more

I am rating the restaurant soley on the the Poke and not the other food or rather the "Etc." I would have given the place a 4 stars, but from comparing the Poke from all the other competition, I had to give their poke a 3 based on a key factor. The flavors I ordered were optimal. I ordered, the Oyster sauce, Classic, and Spicy Mayo. I expected the Spicy Mayo to be my favorite, but actually the Oyster Sauce was the flavor that illuminated my taste buds. The Oyster sauce reminded me of home in the sense of a home Filipino dish I've had before, which would be the Beef with Oyster Sauce. It tasted almost exactly the same thing with Poke instead of a hot dish. It was very good. The Classic and the Spicy Mayo did stand well, and the flavors remain standard to the rest of the competition. The one underlying problem I saw with the Poke is the main reason I gave the place a 3 instead of a 4, which is the quality of cutting the Poke. If you know sushi history , there is an art to cutting fish for sushi and sashimi. Poke is generally the same way. If you do not cut it correctly, you can notice it from texture and taste. What I noticed in many pieces of the poke was incomplete skinning of the fish. The pieces were left with a grey layer, which is the layer under the skin. In all the Poke restaurants I have gone to, they skin out this layer as well because it leaves a different taste, which can taste a little "fishier" or saltier. Depending on the customer, this can either make a little or huge difference. In my case, they are competing with a standard I compare in all other restaurants. Overall, this place isn't all that bad. I just found a little inconsistency in standard. It wouldn't stop me if I ever passed them again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it either, which would exclaim the 3 stars perfectly. read more

We went with the spicy tuna with mayo bowl and half pound of spicy tuna without mayo. I really liked the spicy tuna without mayo. The tuna seemed fresh and had a really nice spicy kick to it. The spicy tuna with mayo was too creamy for me. The quality of the fish is better than Pokinometry, IMO. Th shop is pretty run down. There's no AC and only 1 tiny table. Not since my time visiting Hawaii have I had Ahi Poke this delicious. I love poke! and I love the time I spend in Hawaii but there is always a great sadness when I return to California and realize that I can't have anymore delicious Ahi Poke. So began my mission to find a place nearby in Souther California that would have something at least somewhat as good as I've had in Hawaii. I've tried Poke Poke in Venice and I found it to be just to basic. I've tried the ahi poke appetizer at BJ's! I was desperate people! and it was by far the worst poke I've had here. My hopes where lost, until I decided to search for Poke on Yelp. I found Poke Etc and decided to drive out to Carson to give it a try. It was easy enough to find inside a small market thanks to previous reviewers. Located toward the back of the store was Poke Etc. The very nice lady behind the counter gave me samples of all their items and I instantly knew I had found my favorite Poke spot in California. I ordered a Poke Bowl which came with two scoops of steamed rice, and a good portion of Limu Poke. I also ordered a half pound of their Spicy Ahi, and half a pound of the Kimchi Poke. I have to say that there Kimchi Poke is out of this world! By far my favorite and some of the best Poke I've had here or in Hawaii. I very much look forward to introducing this wonderful little place to all my friends and family. I can't wait to go back and buy a pound of Kimchi and Limu Poke and going into a Ahi Poke comma. Poke Etc. is better than Jus' Poke. I haven't been to Pokinometry yet, but my friend has and she said Poke Etc. is better than Pokinometry. This place is legit. The owner is from Hawaii and they have a delicious variety of poke available for you. The lady who was working asked if it was our first time there, and since it was, she let us sample three different flavors. It was all very delicious. We ended up getting three different flavors of poke, and they were all very worth it. If you're looking for poke near this area, do yourself a favor and don't give in to the hype of Pokinometry and stop here first. Delish. I'll be going back to try their lau lau and spam dishes.
