Original poke bowl with fresh cilantro, seaweed, jalapeño, etc etc!
    Andrew A.

I use to think Jus Poke in redondo beach had the best poke in the South Bay. Then I was introduced to King Poke and was blown away. The way the poke is prepared here is top notch. Super fresh fish in their original poke bowl (salmon, tuna, white fish) with the toppings of your choosing. So damn good! The portions are more than fair. The staff have always been kind and courteous willing to answer all of your questions to make sure you're getting exactly what you want. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place isn't very big inside, but there're a few tables if you want to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They make a simple and perfect spam masubi as well. The next time you're craving a poke bowl, and if you haven't tried King Poke, do yourself a favor and get in there!

Wrote them a great review the first time, but sadly the second time I paid $20 for a large bowl plus 20 miles each way in gas and was shocked. I ordered as soon as they opened so they were well stocked. Large bowl was mostly salad with no clear signs of avocado. Eventually I found one miserly piece that was so paper thin it dissolved inside the bowl! For $20 I've gotten poke bowls with 1/4 of an avocado elsewhere. The store tried to claim it was because I didn't order extra avocado. The first time I did not get extra avo and a respectable albeit modest slice was definitely there. This time I dug underneath the lettuce and still mostly salad. Store offered, "extra avocado next time." Also there was not much noticeable difference between a medium and large bowl (or at least what I thought I got was large?). I got tendon cuts of fish and maybe 5 garlic chips (you can buy a whole bag of the kind they use for like $3 at Trader Joe's BTW!). PS The girl working the cash register does not greet/acknowledge customers and is needlessly surly every time. Come to think of it, my first time here she was blatantly impatient when taking my order even though I told her it was my first time. Maybe she's family and can't get fired or something. Pretty over-the-top rude. I usually give second chances, but have lost my verve and will not be back. Huge disappointment. For comparison, you can get $12 worth of a bowl packed with tuna at Bristol Farms. Just add your own entire avocado for $1.50 . Service is also better.

    Feeling poke

I've ordered a few times and also picked up. The poke is very good considering we're not on the islands. They have three sizes, their choices for toppings aren't a lot but are the traditional for Poke. After choosing your size and the toppings, you can get it as spicy as you want. The rice is almost perfect like sushi rice and seasoned/flavored good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I noticed a lot of people order out and don't choose to dine in. We did, as it was great to chill alone and enjoy the meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are reasonable and not too expensive, as like other poke eateries further up PCH. Anyway, Enjoy! We did.

The best place for poke bowls! I've tried so many other places and none of them come close to what you get here. All the ingredients are fresh and there are what seem to be endless combinations you can create. Service is great, that staff is always friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is a little small but always clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend King Poke!

My boyfriend and I were in the area looking for a no frills lunch, and I dug through my bookmarks and we found King Poke. They are located in a small plaza with a private parking lot, but there is street parking if the lot gets full. Their Original Poke Bowl comes with tuna, salmon, albacore, white fish and masago so you don't pick your protein like at other places. It also has cucumber, imitation crab, onions, avocado, green onions and sesame seed unless you opt out. My boyfriend had a Medium ($13.75) and I had a Small ($11.75). I opted out of the onions and green onions. For my base I went with half brown rice half salad. I opted for the ponzu and spicy mayo sauces. You get 3 toppings, and I went with fried onion, fried garlic chips, and wonton chips. There was plenty of small tables in the restaurant, but not well maintained. They had AC on, but it was still a little not cool enough. Food came out with a reasonable wait time. The poke was good value. I would prefer to pick my own protein but for a bowl of similar size in my local area, it would cost significantly more. We agreed it was a decent no frills spot for lunch. I would consider it if I was already in the area, but not something I would go out of my way for.

Small poke bowl with all tuna. Rice and noodle salad base. Creamy sesame sauce and fried onion, cilantro and seaweed topping.

One of my absolute favorite Poke spots in the South Bay! There's no other poke establishment that allows you to completely customize your bowl from your base, toppings, sauce and fish! They have special sauces that I can't find anywhere else. Creamy sesame and Korean spicy bean paste being a couple of them! Love the options for the bases, sushi rice or noodle salad are my go to's! Can't go wrong with their fried salmon fish tacos too. This place needs more traction, truly a hidden gem here in the South Bay.

Supposed to be a large poke bowl but there's barely any poke and 3/4 full of rice. Center is where the rice came up to.
    D J.

Used to come to this place a lot but it seems the portion has gone down while the price went up. Ordered a large poke bowl but the amount of poke was like the size of a small. 3/4 rice with less than a scoop of poke is just not what you would expect for a large size. Time to find a new place

Spicy Tuna Bowl Sorry about the fuzzy picture

I would say it was delicious. I would recommend a medium to be satisfied. I would say they put a lot of flavors in there. It's preset so you don't choose what you want in it. I ordered through uber eats so I wouldn't be able to say how fast they prepped it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't go there either so I can't say if it was busy or if the location was small or big.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Second time trying this place, first time was last weekend lol That's how good it is! 10/10 on freshness and good flavors ! TBH can't beat the price either, also the customer service is amazing, &!they are fast! And can't beat a stamp card!!!

There is ramen sold on sundays and mondays -- it's a one man shop, but it's probably the best ramen I've had outside of Japan. Definitely the best ramen in LA.

If you are not a selective eater, I highly recommend trying every skewer they have! My friend and I ordered the pork belly, chicken meatball, quail egg, chicken thigh with green onion, fried tofu, zucchini, fried onigiri (grilled rice ball), and the potato (with butter). There were also specials off menu - we tried the chicken sasami which was incredibly tender. All the skewers were seasoned so well and the charcoal made a huge difference in the experience. We did pair our proteins with the onigiri and potato which filled us up. There were condiments to complement the skewers - Japanese spice powder, yuzu kosho, vinegar, and soy sauce. I pretty much had the yuzu kosho with everything. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with their AC, but it was quite hot in there! Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. The Food Library was an interesting experience, and one that left me a bit conflicted…read more The service was excellent from start to finish. The dining room is relatively small, with roughly 10 to 15 tables, and the two employees working the floor were hustling all evening and did a genuinely nice job taking care of everyone. The food itself was solid. The standout dish of the night was actually the grilled asparagus, which came with a soy-based preparation that was absolutely outstanding, perfectly tender and cooked just right. The wedge salad was also very good, and both the 16oz ribeye@$86, and the 8oz filet mignon @$76 were well prepared and enjoyable. Where things became more complicated for me was the overall value proposition. The prices are undeniably steep, especially for Lomita. Whenever I dine somewhere upscale, I inevitably ask myself whether, for the same money, I would have rather gone somewhere else. In this case, the answer was yes. I was also a bit disappointed to discover that there is no full bar. The restaurant seems to steer guests toward wine and sake, with only a handful of beer options available. Unfortunately, the first two beers I ordered, an IPA and then a Modelo, both on the menu, both out of stock, which certainly didn't help my overall impression. The dining room itself felt somewhat drab, all black walls, and lacked the refinement that I would expect at this price point. Dark walls and a crystal chandelier create an interesting contrast, but small details stood out for the wrong reasons. For example, I noticed exposed holes in the bar where a purse hook or latch had apparently been relocated. It may seem minor, but details like that matter when you're charging premium prices. At the end of the night, my wife and I walked out more than $300 lighter. While the food was undeniably good and the service was attentive, the experience simply didn't feel like a $300 evening to us. Overall, The Food Library delivers quality food and hardworking service, but for the price, I left wishing the atmosphere and overall experience matched the bill a bit more closely.

We walked in right on time for our reservation (because we're adults who respect the space-time continuum) and were ushered into a booth with "privatey" curtains. I'm not saying they'd hide you from the FBI, but they certainly provided enough cover for us to giggle and navigate stupidly through the menu. You can also order directly to a friendly human too. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, unstuffy, and private enough to enjoy good convo but not awko quiet. You order everything via an iPad, which is dangerous because when pictures of gyoza are staring you in the face, your impulse control vanishes. We ordered "a little bit of everything," which is code for "the table was structurally compromised by the weight of our dinner." * The Highlights: The pickled cucumbers (crisp enough to hear in the next county), the pork bowl, and sushi that actually tasted like it came from the ocean. The Fluids: Cold Asahi and Lemon Chu-His. Highly recommended if you enjoy being happy. The Verdict This spot is a unicorn--it works for kids, first dates, or "290th dates" where you both just want to stare at an iPad and eat kimchi in a tent. The Heartbreak They have a "10-Second Hit It" game at the front door where you can win a free meal. We were this close. We didn't win, but we're definitely going back to seek revenge.
