I love spicy mayo, but I do feel like the sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the sushi burrito itself, making it harder to appreciate the other toppings. They've expanded their menu beyond drinks. The last time I visited, they had açaí bowls as an available option. My tried and true order includes a sushi burrito w/salmon, ponzu, crab meat, green onions, cucumbers, etc. and a Lavender Earl Grey Milk Tea (75% sweetness). With how much I've requested in my sushi burrito in the past, I'm impressed at how well it holds together. Each time I'm in, I've seen either 1 or 2 people working. They seem to work well together and work through orders in a timely fashion. Ambiance wise, there are a couple of tables. The boba came out nice and bouncy, and didn't feel like they just thawed it out on the counter like some places I've been to have done. I highly recommend trying the spicy sauce and spicy mayo--they add the perfect kick and are absolutely delicious. We also loved their taro smoothie & peach/mango tea! Was craving hand rolls and Thai tea and didn't want to go to different spots. It's great that this place has them all in one! Problems 1. Process issues. Last time I went was about 2 years ago, we used to order frequently, but we decided to go into the store, for 2 simple sushi burritos, we waited over an hour. The store wasn't too busy, there were delivery folks in and out, they continuously filled the delivery orders and ignored me sitting there. I asked about it numerous times but they were just following the flawed process. I was furious but there was not much they could do. 2. We finally decided to give them another try, and ordered it from their website as a to go order. I took pictures and really wanted to give them a good review. Unfortunately, I went to the store and found the online order prices (from their website) were higher than in store prices! I mentioned this to the nice lady at the counter, she could not do anything about it. I tried contacting the manager but s/he couldn't be reached. 3. I was still hopeful that at least the food would be good. The 3 orders were clearly marked and cleverly showed the differences, I was impressed. But it turned out they were incorrectly placed. (The vegetarian order and non-vegetarian order were switched) In addition, we had one order clearly noted sauces on the side, well, no sauces were used and nothing was on the side, so it was a very bland sushi burrito. I drove by this place about a month ago. Had to find a place to chill with my 5 yo daughter before a doctor's appointment. Ordered a sushi burrito, spam roll, red bean taiyaki, an assam milk tea with no boba and watermelon slushy. There was no one before or after me. The burrito was great. I think I ordered too many items that made the burrrito soggy, but flavor was spot on. My daughter enjoyed her spam roll and drink (which was on the sweet side and not made from real watermelon which was disclosed up front). I really enjoyed the fresh taiyaki, the red bean was not too sweet. Came by a second time just to get 5 taiyaki to go and a hit citrus ginger honey drink. Again, no other customers but it was disclosed I would have to wait 15 min prior to placing the order. No problem appreciate the honesty. At least I would get them fresh made!!! but if I came during a busy time, I think it would be pretty difficult to fill the orders promptly (so minus 1 star). Citrus ginger drink came out well. Just right for what I was feeling. Also, for some of the old reviews about it getting soggy after deliver- nothing a good reheat in the toaster/mini oven couldn't fix. There's currently 12 (give or take) boba shops in the city of Torrance, and I made it my mission to visit them all... for research purposes obviously! After doing extensive studies and tests, the conclusion that I came up with is that Kokoroll is ... eh. They're situated in a strip mall along Hawthorne Boulevard. Lots of parking spaces and it's usually never busy. We found a spot in front of the cafe. The inside had a decent amount of seats and tables, with a couple more outside. To build your own boba, choose a tea base (jasmine, assam, oolong, etc.), pick up to two flavors, select a topping (75 cents each), and adjust the Almond milk was the only dairy alternative I saw. There are also smoothies and slushies that you can customize as well. Rounding out the rest of the menu are specialty drinks, taiyaki, hand rolls, poke bowls, and sushi burritos. The Thai Tea and Jasmine Milk Tea were fine. But the Milk Tea had an odd sour aftertaste. Almost acidic. I didn't like the mushy boba either, it had no structural integrity whatsoever. Maybe I'll get the food instead if I ever return. Their have a great selection of hand rolls, all of which have been amazing so far. Im a big fan of the tempura shrimp and beef bulgogi rolls the most! So many nice customizable teas to choose from! I could make infinite combos! They have bobas, a few jellies, and lots of teas and flavors to mix in. Im personally a sucker for lychee jelly at the bottom of my tea so I seek out places with lychee jell Also digging the taikayi. You fill out their card with what you want and they put it together for you. I think it was a little heavy on the sauce but I still enjoyed it. Ingredients were fresh and again, a healthy portion. You pick up to 3 proteins. I got almost all the toppings with tuna and salmon. Solid bowl! Boba Milk Tea (5): i adjusted the sweetness to 50% and it was good. Boba was soft. Great to know that there's a solid poke bowl and boba joint in this area. Not sure I'd have found it if I wasn't going on a stroll. Not necessarily a 'strolling' area too. Good job. I was looking for some taro and found this this place here on yelp. There was plenty of parking, then when entering the owner said hello and was friendly. Inside was quiet and empty. We ordered two taro drinks and a black tea drink. After looking at the receipt saw that we got charged wrong and felt there was false advertisement. We mentioned that to the owner the owner was not happy and she said you should have asked. My mom saw the picture with boba and thought it was included. the strawberry matcha is AWFUL!!! so thick and syrupy and sweet, i asked if they could make it again and it was slightly less thick (still pretty thick) but just sickeningly sweet. the poke bowl while good is much much smaller than it looks on the site and is NOT worth $18. the taiyaki machine took 20 minutes to heat up which is fine but i wish they would've told me it would be that long. The mozzarella teriyaki is also terrible, which is not contributing to this rating, I knew it was a risk trying it, but just to let anyone know who's thinking about it. would not revisit this place. read more

I went with my hubby and my daughter. We ordered a Thai tea with boba, a signature milk tea with boba, and a mango smoothie. We also ordered some Nori Maki Hand-rolls. Everything was really yummy! The facility was clean and played good music. I'll be coming back for sure! * The one thing I thought was interesting is that they charge .30 cents for ice. This is one of my top favorite restaurants to go to for lunch. If you are looking for a place that has really good sushi burritos you need to check this place out! It's really hard to find a place that has really good sushi burritos. I also love that you can customize your sushi burrito. I usually get mine with bulgogi beef, shrimp tempura, Sweet Shoyu (Eel Sauce), Green Onion, Red Onion, Cucumber, Fried Onion, Tempura Flakes, Sesame Seeds, and I'll add Avocado. The shrimp tempura is crispy. It's delicious and oh so flavorful! The only thing I wish is that give more rice. They also offer a variety of other lunch items, drinks, and desserts. If you love takiyaki you should try it here! I enjoy the fillings they have. The mozzarella cheese and Nutella is my favorite filling to order. They also offer red bean filling or custard filling. I'd been meaning to try a sushirrito for some time, and I was happy to find a place close to home that sold it, plus taiyakis! That said, I placed my order for a sushirrito, two taiyakis (red bean and custard), and an Earl Grey milk tea with boba. Total came out to $30, including delivery. The sushirrito was a bit on the small side (especially for being $12.95), but it sure was tasty. I customized it with two types of ahi tuna, masago, fried garlic, tempura flakes, wasabi AND wasabi-mayo drizzle, and avocado. Yes, it was somewhat messy to eat, but the flavors packed a punch, especially the double hit of wasabi. Didn't get much crunch from the fried garlic and tempura, but that's forgivable. Unfortunately, the taiyaki were soggy by the time they arrived at my doorstep. That's the downside to delivery, so I won't count it against Kokoroll. I'll definitely have to go in to pickup for better freshness. The boba drink wasn't my thing: the balls themselves were plentiful and fine, but the drink came with too much ice; I don't recall there was an option to have less/no ice. As a result, it watered down the Earl Grey flavor, and I ended up dumping out the ice. Overall, Kokoroll really delivers on the sushirrito, but the other items pale in comparison. And for the portion size of the sushirrito and taiyakis, the prices don't quite match up. But it was a good experience, and I can say that I'm a fan of the sushirrito! read more

I dropped by Kokoroll Cafe yesterday after the rain and it was pretty empty with mostly customers ordering take out, myself included. I ordered 3 bowls, 1 burrito, and a taro milk tea without boba. The young man working the register is really pleasant and there are two others behind the counter preparing the dishes. I did have a bit of a wait but I can see they were meticulously working on all the orders. It was nice, though, for them to give me two red bean taiyakis on the house to make up for the wait. The bowls - I ordered a combo of beef, salmon, shrimp tempura, and chicken over sticky rice amongst the three bowls for the fam. You can also choose mixed greens as the base. I ordered a burrito with spicy tuna and salmon. The portions are huge!! I was starving and still only ate only 1/2 the burrito. The taro milk tea 25% sweet was more on the thicker consistency from other milk teas I've had. I appreciate that they didn't fill 1/2 the cup with ice like some other businesses. The taiyakis- they were delicious even though I didn't eat them right away. I can't wait to try the other flavors. We really enjoyed the food and each order can satisfy you for both lunch and dinner. Kokoroll Cafe recently opened up in the plaza that Mikuni Buffet and Torrance Tavern is at. It took over the spot that a previous boba spot was at. Kokoroll similarly offers boba but they also offer a variety of different sushi burritos, rolls and bowls. The cafe is cute and small. I can definitely see this is a nice, quiet spot to hang out and have a boba drink or snack. There are a couple tables and the cashier is up front where they have these mini white boards in which you can write down your customized order. On my visit here I chose to get a Nori maki beef bulgogi handroll for $3.75. The rolls is not that large and so the price is a tad on the high side. However I definitely did see the quality in the beef that they put in. It was lean, tender and flavorful. Overall I did think it was quite tasty. The cafe is promising and I do like that they offer different items versus what would you find in a normal boba cafe. read more
