I visited on a Monday where there wasn't a line and we were able to order immediately. Staff were very friendly and helpful. By their website they source local and organic ingredients which is a big plus. I had the Benedict which was flavorful but the hollandaise was little more tart than I'm used to, however it was good. Coffee was delicious and fresh and my wife had the huevos rancheros which was really delicious, I would definitely recommend that dish for a first choice. The hot chocolate was only a little too light, tasted more milk or water than chocolate, maybe a darker chocolate or more chocolate would've been good, but overall the food was good. The potatoes were fresh and delicious as well. Outside seating is very comfortable and spacious, but when it is busy it may be a long wait. The prices are a little higher than your normal restaurant, but they seem to be sourcing fresh and local ingredients with no nitrates or GMOs and you can really tell the difference. Prices are only slightly more than your standard restaurant breakfast, which at other restaurants are almost always sourced from a low quality trillion dollar mega corporation food supplier. I look forward to returning to try other dishes in the future. read more

Today, we visited a restaurant with our dog. We ordered our food and paid, then sat inside the restaurant. When our food arrived, a woman with short black hair asked, "Is it a service dog?" We replied that it was, and we even asked if we could sit outside. She said, "No, I was just asking." Then, she went to her coworker, an Asian woman, and they started laughing, saying, "No, it's not." I immediately felt uncomfortable and ate our food quickly to leave. It was our first time ever at this restaurant, and these young and unprofessional ladies made it a bad experience! read more

I highly recommend getting a dulce de leche latte or peppermint latte if you come here!! The lattes by the barista there are always so cute and there's quite a few different designs I've received on my lattes. I make sure to get one every time I'm here and it's just such a nice, smooth and warm, homey feeling when I drink it (I get it less sweet per my preference). What makes the whole experience even better is the staff is so welcoming and always willing to help. Also a big thanks to the barista, Misha, for having such a pleasant chat with me yesterday and making my morning feel a little more bright and fresh. read more

I come down to visit my mom who lives in Whittier often for breakfast and we always struggle trying to find a solid breakfast spot. This spot was great! We really enjoyed it. The breakfast burritos were delicious and the service was great. Delicious cappuccinos! Really excited that a good breakfast joint finally opened up in Whittier. read more

So I've been to the Downey location years ago and loved it, so did go in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately this location fell a bit short. First the layout is very odd. Parking and doors are in the back but they put the main entrance in the front which makes for an odd flow/walk around. Could also see how this is a concern for ADA as handicap parking is literally the furthest spot in the lot from the entrance. Food is order at the counter up front then sit down with a number. Not ideal but also not a deal breaker for us. Prices are STEEP, and I mean extremely expensive. For 2 meals (chilaquiles & egg sandwich) and 2 coffees we were around $50 plus tip. For this style quick service restaurant set up, I can't justify that price range and unfortunately the food quality itself didn't justify it either. Coffee was simple but very good. Chilaquiles use chips (not tortillas) but salsa was flavorful and over all good. Feels like it needs a protein in addition to the egg. Overall good but pretty basic/average. The beans were odd. Black beans in a cup and very watery/soupy. The egg sandwich was not great. The bread was good but the eggs tasted extremely buttery and the chipotle on it just didn't mesh well with the sandwich. I took 2 bites and unfortunately didn't finish any more. The potato's were basic but not bad. Overall just not impressed in terms of the food, ambiance, service structure, pricing or layout. read more

Great service and tasty food! A little bit pricey, but worth it. I will go back again.

Service was great and the food was amazing . The area was nice plus the ambiance is nice.

Had such a great experience at Poached Kitchen! I ordered the chilaquiles and they were absolutely delicious, perfectly balanced, flavorful, and comforting without being heavy. You can really taste how fresh everything is. I paired it with a vanilla latte that was smooth, not overly sweet, and the perfect complement to the meal. Huge shout-out to Veronica for the amazing service. She was so kind, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everything from start to finish was wonderful. Definitely a new favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Whittier. Can't wait to come back! read more

Loves: The service is impeccable; the ambiance is new/clean/ well kept; the food brought quickly; the verde chilaquiles were amazing! A must try! I ordered mine with sunny side up eggs and no protein. The flavors explode in your mouth. Hubby ordered the short rib omelette. It was good, but the hash browns stole the show! Don't judge their appearance, the way we did. If you are into textures, you will love them. They are crispy on the outside and super soft and mushy inside, with great flavor! I tried the Dolce De Leche Latte with macadamia milk and it was so yummy, if you don't like it too sweet. Overall, a great breakfast spot. Dislikes: having to walk all the way around the enter. Not suitable for a disabled person. We were confused where to enter. There is an entrance for pick ups as well. The sign that said no saving seats or not to stay longer than 90 minutes. read more

I think newer location opened and closer to my house I got birria Benedict sounds interesting but the meat was so dry and flavorless. I think they forgot to put the sauce or this Benedict doesn't come with hollandaise maybe? The hash browns I got look like they just reheated in a steamer maybe they were like mash potatoes, been here at the other locations a couple times and always a flop, never again ! read more

The poached kitchen here is way better than the Downey location. The portion wasn't the best but still good.

Food was good! I ordered the chilaquiles and I love that it came with avocado. The micro greens and radish gave the meal a weird taste though (I just picked them off). The service was quick. Honestly pretty pricey considering you order at a counter. read more

The food was delicious and savory. We have the avocado toast. It was very light and filling. You can modify your orders as well which we appreciate as Weight Watcher participants. The drip coffee is top notch and strong (in a good way). We arrived around 9:45am and the morning breakfast crowd began to leave. This place can get very packed and parking can be tight. Overall it is worth and a welcomed addition to the social food ecology of breakfast spots. read more

First time visiting for my friend and I. Didn't realize we must order at the counter. The cashier was absolutely of no help and seemed annoyed at the fact that we didn't know what to order. I believe her name is Oni?. Not sure how to spell that. All other employees we encountered were wonderful. One young man always made sure we had fresh coffee and the young girl that brought us our meal was very kind and helpful. The food was delicious. The tables however are a bit small and the one we got needs to be tightened at the legs. It was awful holding on to our coffees. read more

First time here. Love the large outdoor seating, service is great besides having to get up and order yourself. Steak and eggs not a favorite, it was buttery and thin for the price . Chilaquiles were good ! Was excited to order the mimosa package it's listed on the menu and yet they stated they cannot serve alcohol until they get their license ! Huge inconvenience. Remove it off the menu if it's not available. read more

Very smart business model. Customer places order when walking in and then chooses their own seating with a number for the table. There was confusion, however, because it was unclear that customer has to order first. A simple 'order here' sign would solve that problem. Food was excellent with first quality ingredients and innovative dishes. I ordered a delicious 'omelet a la greque' with fresh feta, dill, and sautéed mushrooms. Service fast, customer turnover also good. Clean, modern restaurant. read more

This restaurant just recently opened up within walking distance from my home. Excited, I visited yesterday with my daughter during the downpour. We waiting for only a few minutes and asked to be seated at counter. When you walk in, you are directed to the cashier area to place your order then you sit down and wait. The restaurant floors and counter had an egg smell which makes me nauseous, maybe because of all the rain? Nonetheless, clean with dissenfected rags/mops maybe add bleach. The smell will go away. The restaurant is nice looking, great setup for a small/long space. Now, let's talk about the food. My daughter ordered regular pancakes and a hot chocolate. The pancakes had no taste, no matter how much syrup she put on them. How do you mess up pancakes? We returned them and the lady at the counter just took them and said nothing when it was obvious she only took a few bites. I had to actually say to the lady, please ask your manager to refund the pancakes. By the way for two meals with coffee it was almost $70.00. So, this place is not cheap! I ordered the chile verde eggs benedict with hash browns. The chile verde was cold upon arrival but the taste was good. I suspect the benedictd were waiting for the hashbrowns then got cold. I considered returning them but didn't want to wait for a new batch. Now, the hash browns... yuck, they tasted like old oil. How are you cooking these? They tasted horrible, I put tons of ketchup and that still didn't help. I might come back to taste more of their menu but for now I was disappointed. I need to check to confirm I was refunded... read more

Atmosphere and staff were really good and I have no complaints. The side of bacon wasn't crispy but rather it was rubbery and chewy. Amazing, the quality and taste is one of my best experiences in a long time. As a Whittier local that grew up here they seem to bring that family experience that we been missing as the food is fresh and feels as if you made it in your own home while the vibe of the place is up beat and hip. I had the seasonal brunch burrito, my wife had the chilaquiles with pork protein on top and let me say as a Mexican growing up only enjoying my own mother cooking, this definitely came close that's how good it was. 100 recommend coming and trying it because I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since they've opened and had a chance to order pick up today. Unfortunately there were problems with my online order and they never received it. When I arrived I found out it did not go through but the staff were so helpful. They immediately apologized and accepted my take out order even though they had closed by this point. They took really good care of me and I was so grateful they went above the expected to help me when they really did not have to. I ordered the chili verde Benedict and it was amazing! Coffee was hot and well brewed. Breakfast burrito was 10/10 in size, taste, & assemblage. Only drawback would be cost but that is debatable.

I finally tried this for the first time, it was decent.....i Ordered green chilaquiles and was asked if I wanted to add chicken for $12 dollars more!!! $12!!!!! This is not even high end fancy restaurant to charge 12 just for adding chicken. The food tasted ok, i definetly expected more for the price. read more

It was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I just think the seating situation is kind of awkward. We wanted to move seats because our table was right where the wind was blowing through the open door and she said she already assigned the seats even though it's just numbers at empty tables. We got moved only because there was an empty space at the bar stools but if not we were basically going to have to be forced to sit somewhere we weren't comfortable. The food is over priced for what it is. read more
