Stopped by Maverick coffee this weekend and finally got to try it. My partner and I grabbed vanilla lattes (one with oat milk, one regular) and a few pastries -- banana bread, chocolate, pistachio, and chocolate chip cookies to share. Everything hit the spot and I'm glad I checked it out after having it on my list for a while while it was busy with a group of cyclist making a pitstop which gave this place a really cool lively vibe. The guy helping me with the coffee seems really friendly and they have a lot of great stuff if you are a cyclist or in need of a repair.
A True Hidden Gem! If you love bikes and great coffee, you have to check this place out. * The Drinks: The Espresso Tonic is super refreshing, and the Latte was smooth and delicious. They really know their espresso. * The Treat: Don't skip the Dabui Cookie! It's thick, soft, and amazing. * The Vibe: Modern interior with a cool bicycle theme. It's very clean (including the bathroom!) and perfect for a date or catching up with friends. * The Perks: Plenty of parking and the staff is incredibly polite.
I ordered the Dirty Thai Coffee ($7). It's homemade Thai tea combined with espresso. The experience is mindbogglingly magical. I screamed in sheer happiness as waves of caffeine pierced me. After wiping away my tears, I took another sip. I arrived at Maverick Coffee (Whittier) on Wednesday (around 10:13AM). Parking is horrible!! There's four parking spots... on a sliver of concrete. Thankfully, there's nearby street parking. I leisurely walked. Staff is professional, welcoming, and hardworking. Staff maintained a pleasant demeanor during my entire visit. Staff answered all my questions, and Staff maintained a cheery smile. My drink took one minute and 11 seconds. Fast!! As mentioned, I absolutely adored the Dirty Thai Coffee ($7). I felt awake and stress-free the entire day! Its first sip is chill, quality Thai Tea. However, after thoroughly swirled, this brew carries a clean, fresh coffee flavor. It's not too sweet nor too bitter. It flowed like silk. At the last sip, I felt a playful slap of acidity as if it tapped me across my cheek. I felt happy. Concerning ambiance, Maverick Coffee (Whittier) is ugly. At first glance, it looks like a Car Repair Shop. I entered with extremely low expectations, and I hoped that the recommendations weren't manipulated lies. Fortunately, its interior was less gruesome. It looks like a bike shop... However, it's baffling how there's utility inside Maverick Coffee (Whittier). There's customer internet with password; customers must speak to staff for the details. There's also two electrical outlets with four plugs each. There's also an unlabeled gender neutral restroom. The location is also clean and well-maintained despite its rustic looking wooden tables. There's six small tables and one long wooden table. I also appreciated the very soft instrumental music playing from behind the counter. There's even a muted flat screen TV that shows bicyclists traveling across the landscape. Overall, Maverick Coffee (Whittier) is an extreme example of "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover." The Dirty Thai Coffee ($7) is functional and delicious. If you love coffee, this is a must-try. 4.9 out of 5. "GO!!"
Checking for a coffee place in the area and decided to visit this place. The sweet employee recommended an iced coffee with a cotton candy cold foam. I was skeptical but I was willing to try something new and I'm glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised. The taste of their great coffee went very well with the flavor of the cotton candy foam.
Before coming into this coffee shop, I didn't even realize there was such a thing as a Seoul latte, so I felt obligated to try it. I'm really glad I did because I think this just became my new go-to coffee order. I'd describe the Seoul latte as almost like a cousin to a Vietnamese iced coffee. It's lighter and slightly less sweet, which I personally really enjoy. Before trying this, my usual go-to was the Cubano con Leche from Tierra Mia. That drink is delicious, but it's very rich, creamy, and caffeine-heavy -- almost more of a dessert coffee to me. I usually only get it sparingly because it can feel a bit heavy, especially on busy days when I want something lighter. This Seoul latte feels like the perfect addition to the rotation: sweet and flavorful without being overpowering, and much lighter overall. The location itself is also really unique and stands out from the street. The interior has a cool aesthetic with a bunch of biking merchandise throughout the shop. My only wish is that there was a bit more patio covering outside and maybe some seating in the front, although there are plenty of places to sit inside.
Brought my unicycle in to get the tire fixed and they were so helpful, communicative and affordable! So happy I brought it here, also had an iced cortado the first visit and a Seol coffee and their recommendation the second time both amazing. Thank you so much you guys!
Coffee adventures continue! I was excited to try this cute coffee shop, located inside of a cycle shop. I enjoyed the open air concept and the thoughtful, precise, and minimal menu. What stood out to me was the Thai Charger. Two of my favorite drinks, espresso+Thai tea. The Thai tea is homemade, and I enjoyed my drink. I also ordered a matcha, and that was also enjoyable. My son ordered the seoul latte and enjoyed it. The customer service was lacking, and I'm thinking it was the owner at the counter, but didn't give us any guidance with his menu or drinks. He was polite, just not engaging with us. I did witness him engaging with his cycle shop customers though.
The place was super cute, I thought it had a really nice vibe. The Dirty Thai was so good! I enjoyed the sweetness of the Thai tea and the coffee taste of the espresso shot. But the Matcha latte was not the greatest...tasted like milk, light in color, and had barely any flavor of Matcha. I do hope in the future the Matcha gets better. Overall not too bad :)
Unique concept mixing bicycling and coffee creates a fun atmosphere to drink and enjoy the coffee/tea and goodies they have! Tried their strawberry matcha with oat milk and the matcha cookie. First of all the matcha cookie is so cute!!! 2 little teddy grahams swimming in the pool of cream, A+ presentation. As for taste, it's not actually that sweet so the cream is a good balance to add some of that sweetness to it. The texture is surprising, more like a soft cookie, but I don't mind that. The strawberry matcha was really pleasant! Creamy from the oat milk, you get the taste of matcha and strawberry without either being overpowering. Really enjoyed that!
Stopped by Maverick coffee with my family on Saturday afternoon and we were greeted my the super friendly employee. I had a Seoul latte abd my nephew had a thai tea. Both the drinks were very tasty and refreshing. The customer service is on point and the drinks and pastries are great. I recommend the mochi dubai chocolate.
Super cool coffee spot ! I've always been wanting to try and I'm glad I was finally able to. 10/10 coffee shop. Matcha with oatmilk was amazing and my boyfriend's espresso was a 10/10. Cookie was really good. I highly recommend this coffee spot if you haven't already.
So glad I was able to finally visit Maverick, I've drove past it several times but luckily was able to visit recently. It's such a cool vibe, with lots of seating both in and outdoors. I got the dirty thai and it was so goood! I'm definitely going back for that. Friendly staff & very fast with making our drinks!
Been driving passed this shop for a while and decided to stop in and give it a try. I had the Seoul Latte and the Ube and Cream / Match Cream cookies. All were delicious. Cookies were sweet but not too sweet and the coffee was perfect. Cool vibe in there. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Had a great experience. I will definitely come back.
FIRST THINGS FIRST! ORDER THE SEOUL LATTE, better than ANYOTHER latte in SOCAL, prove me wrong if you don't agree. I usually don't like sugar in my coffee but wow, I'm hooked on the SEOUL LATTE!!!!! What did we order: -Iced Seoul Latte 10/10 - Hot Seoul latte 10/10 - Cortado 7/10 (prefer Tierra Mia, she prefers sweeeter coffee) - regular Latte 10/10 Ok, ambiance is nice for a coffee shop. Relaxing and quiet.. although AC isn't great. The LATTE was too DIE FOR! Best latte best Seoul Latte! Go here and give them a try, you won't be disappointed! Best coffee shop in the area! This is a cool coffee shop in Whittier located in a bike shop. It's a pretty cool idea. However, I just came by for the coffee. I had the Seoul latte. I'm always interested to try places that have all five star reviews. They are correct. The coffee is good. I had the Seoul Latte. Kevin was patient and attentive as the server. There are a few tables inside if you want to relax and have a conversation with friends. They also service bikes, which is pretty cool. I'll be back again. read more

Decent and practical stop for cyclists and coffee enthusiasts alike! They cater to folks who I imagine bike to the shop or stop along their route, however, coffee fond folks will also be pleased by their signature coffees, like the Seoul Latte which has this very surprisingly sweet but not too sweet milk flavor which just makes the coffee so delightful. I also got a Vanilla Latte but was for sure envious of my partner's Seoul Latte drink haha. They have some great seating from an outpost which feels like a garage but that only lends itself to the chill atmosphere of an unassuming shop that also happens to deliver warm service, bespoke coffee, and some gear and spokes for your bike. read more

Who doesn't love a good tea? I tried a new coffee shop in Whittier and I was not disappointed at all. Not only was the this a coffee shop, but it doubled as a bike shop as well! How cool is that! I got a Thai Tea & a Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie! This was by far the best Thai Tea I've had and the cookie!? Oh the cookie was magical perfect blend of sweet & salty! The cashier was so nice, he recommended the Starberry Matcha, but I'm not a matcha girly.. I'll have to give it another try someday! I would definitely recommend! read more

From the moment you walk in, the vibe is so welcoming -- friendly barista, upbeat atmosphere, and he really take care with every cup they make. The espresso-based drinks are rich and smooth, and their specialty cold brews are perfect for a warm afternoon. The menu has a great variety too -- lattes, matcha, and even refreshing fruit-infused drinks. I also appreciated that he remembered my order after just a couple visits, which speaks volumes about their customer service. Amazing cold brew! One of the best in the city. We got cold brew with oatmilk and vanilla. Smooth, delicious and not bitter. The service is also very friendly, a lot more welcoming than other well known shops in area. Second time a here and I will be back! read more
Great iced matcha here! Walked right in and ordered, drinks were made quickly and taste good quality. The shop offers some bicycle parts and supplies. They have a few bakery items as well as a cold fridge for grab and go drink options. Pretty cool spot! read more

Randomly went in here because I saw the coffee sign. I got Thai tea with oat milk and a pistachio chocolate cookie that caught my eye. Cookie was delicious perfectly balance flavors and great texture. The drink was also very good! I had a very pleasant conversation with who I think was the owner! this is a family Business I would love to continue to support! I'll be back! read more

Super cute shop! Doubles as a bike shop and coffee bar. They had a nice little sitting area outside. Love the vibe! The drinks were amazing! We had a Vanilla Latte (bf said: "it's exactly as sweet as you want it to be, tasty without being a sugar bomb. You can taste the quality of the coffee"). I had the Strawberry Matcha w/Oat Milk it was so creamy, subtly sweet, and smooth. No graininess or bitterness, and not overly sweet. Tastes like quality matcha. I'm on a mission to try all the small, local coffee shops in Whittier to find new go-tos on my days off, and Maverick Coffee did not disappoint. I pulled up on a rainy Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by how rich and tasty the coffee is. I ordered a Dirty Thai and my sister got an Americano; both were great. The vibe inside the shop was super chill, and the barista who rang us up and made our drinks was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back again to try the other drinks! read more

Been passing by this spot so many times, but it worth for coffee. Had a SEOUL COFFEE, super good and creamy, kinda like a more flavorful viet coffee Then I also wanted to to try there ORANGSPRESSO, I always wanted to try orange juice and espresso as well as espresso and tonic, so I killed two birds with one stone, orange soda and espresso. At first didn't like it but I didn't mix it properly then it was actually pretty good. Also tried a Banana Nut loaf, def good pair read more

Finally got to stop by Maverick and was not disappointed! The reviews were spot on, this place is so great. Cool little rustic shop with an awesome vibe. Parking lot is small but plenty of close by street parking. The owner was so sweet and friendly. Me and my husband both got the Seoul Latte (iced of course) and it was phenomenal. Perfect balance of sweet, creamy, toasty... 10/10 recommend. My husband is hoping they stock merch/hats so we'll be patiently keeping an eye out and hoping for that as their logo and brand is awesome. In the meantime we'll definitely be adding Maverick to our regular coffee rotation. read more

It was my first time and omgoodness the latte's are amazing!! The espresso was so balanced and flavorful ! I think everyone should try the Dirty Thai Latte you will not regret it! So lucky to have found this by chance. Or actually by yelp, but delicious coffee. I got the Seoul coffee, and my husband got the dirty Thai. Our new favorite drinks! Subtly, sweet and great flavor. The inside is super cute as well and it's also a cycling shop, which is cool. read more
