You'll see by my other reviews that I'm not shy to be critical of a place. The fact that this doesn't have at least 4.5 stars is laughable. Been here for lunch twice. On a Sunday and on a Wednesday. Service, ambiance both fine. Their food options aren't necessarily exciting but everything is always great and large servings. Wonton app is fantastic and love the bacon jam. Peach salad is exccccelent. Gumbo was the best I've ever had. The shrimp salad - get it. The blt shrimp sandwhich specifically is ridiculous. Go here. read more

Ate here again and I remember what I got the first time because I got it again. The shrimp po boy is really good. My mom was in and thats her favorite type of poboy. We both got it and she said it was one of the best she's had. The sauce makes it. The smoked Mac n cheese is some of the better Mac and cheeses you'll get. My wife got the grilled turkey sandwich. It was really good the first time she had it, but the waitress failed to tell her that they didn't have the usual rye bread for it, and had to use regular. So it wasn't near as good and wasn't cooked long enough this time. We heard the manager tell her that they were out of the bread, but she didn't inform us. That kinda sucked. Haha. My dad got one of the salads, (I didn't pay attention which one because that's rabbit food) it looked good. My middle child got the tenders and they were really good for restaurant kids tenders. My only complaints I have and the two everyone else had at the table was; the fries are some of the most bland fries known to man and the dill dip is almost tasteless. I love the location of the restaurant as it's a great place to take kids. While waiting on food you can go out back and explore along the river and make your way to the playground. Not a wheelchair and child friendly place. I had to change my son's diaper, so I took him to the restroom. No changing table. I had to put him on the floor. And most of the tables can be reached only by a big step down. Certainly too steep for someone in a wheelchair to handle without assistance. I guess there are worse things to greet you upon entering a restaurant than a server man-handling a hamburger. But that is what we got..a server standing at the table in front of the hostess stand putting down a burger, before her shift, I guess. And the servers seemed more focused on what was in front of them. The server who seated us missed the toddler I was holding in my arms. I had to go fetch a seat for him. These issues are not the foundation of the business. It's the food, atmosphere and table service. They are easy to fix "surface" issues (for lack of a better word right now) that shouldn't take away the multiple stars that others seem to want to do. The food was worth it. I had the oysters, which were fresh and delicious. I also tasted the peeled shrimp and low-country boil shrimp and sausage. Some of peeled shrimp were a bit dry and tough. I buy fresh shrimp from my farmer's market and take it home to cook it on the grill. It's fresh and juicy and tender. But the low-country boil shrimp was great. Once peeled, it hit the spot. The gentleman serving us was fabulous. Noted is the way he treated our toddler like the whole person that he is. Most folk will engage with "baby talk". But this gentleman engaged in conversation and activity with our son as the (little) man that he is. read more

Wanted to try this place and got a seat, but after 10 minutes with no water, not even a "hi I'll be right with you," we walked out. They obviously were busy and we were being patient, but had to leave about 4 minutes after a table seated after us got a server, drinks, and ordered. Another table next to us had a server (we guessed was supposed to be ours) go back 4 times. Staff weren't going slowly, they just have some management organizational problems. And 10 minutes may be low. Once we got to a restaurant a few doors down we looked at when we got the text from Plum that our table was ready, and it was 29 minutes earlier. read more

Over Memorial Day weekend we decided to go over to Beaufort to do a little shopping and walk around the historic district. It was lunch time & everyone was hungry so we decided to try Plums. It was pretty busy so there was about a 20-30 minute wait for a table of 6. After a long wait, and quite a bit of confusion between the hostess and other staff members. One guy takes us back to a large table and was getting ready to seat us and another staff member comes back & tells him that they were holding that table for a larger party who made a reservation. So they usher us to another section & tried to jam us in a small table that would be better suited for a party of 4. We didn't want to be crammed in like sardines so we asked if they could find another place to seat us. Finally they take us to the big table again. Sheesh. What a pain! After more waiting we finally placed our orders. The service and execution here needs a LOT of improvement but the food is delicious. One person ordered oysters on the half shell...another person in our part also ordered an appetizer and they brought both of these AFTER bringing out their entrees. The other sucky thing was they brought food to everyone except one person...and there was a lengthy delay before his food arrived. I hate when they do that...its awkward because you don't want to be rude and eat before they get their dish so your food just sits there getting cold. So 2 stars for service and 5 stars for the actual food. I would be willing to give them another try. read more

This place had such a cute atmosphere and we felt lucky to find a spot with a water view. However, the food and service could use a little upgrade. Parking: There's plenty of street parking in downtown Beaufort, it's free on Sundays! Atmosphere: The decor is really cute and coastal. You can tell the building has seen its fair share of wear and tear but they've done a nice job with the updated paint and decorative elements. Service: Our waitress was really sweet, but she really had no knowledge of the menu. My husband asked if they had any local beers, she said she wasn't sure but most beers are from Charleston, except the Holy City Beer, which she said that was from Georgia. Even as a new Southerner, I know that Charleston is considered the Holy City, so we both thought it was funny that was the particular beer she decided to highlight. Food: The food wasn't expensive here so we definitely got what we paid for. I ordered a crab cake, it was incredibly soggy. My husband ordered a burger and fries. Initially, the waitress brought out chips as a side but recognized her mistake as she was serving, so she brought out the "fries" which were paper white and nearly translucent. I think all of our food could have benefitted from being cooked more thoroughly, but hey, we didn't get food poisoning! read more

The view from this restaurant is beautiful, overlooking a downtown park and river. If it's a beautiful day and not too hot or humid I would suggest sitting outside on their outside deck. During the time of day I went, it was slow and not crowded, which was between 3 and 4. Even though it was slow I felt it took a little too long to get my drink. I ordered an appetizer and a salad. I added chicken to my Greek salad which was three pieces and cost $4. The food is good but I feel a little overpriced for what you get. I will say the appetizer I had was delicious and yummy though. Just for me my bill was nearly $30. I may give them a couple more chances of business, but there are several restaurants in this small area to choose from so do your research and pick wisely. This might not be a first pick if I was visiting. ****Edited to add second experience at Plums. During this second visit my friend and I sat inside. It was moderately crowded and our food took a little time to get but we were enjoying our conversation and time. Our server was attentive and checked on us several times. What an amazing meal! The view on the back patio was absolutely ideal! Food, view, service and was spectacular. I wish this spot was open for dinner and we would've eaten here for dinner as well! As a visitor, we had a very nice lunch at Plums. It's right on the river front so the view is amazing. The hubby had a BLT sandwich and I had the curry chicken salad and a cider beer. The patio was full with a waitlist so we chose to eat inside. The staff wore masks and the occupancy provided social distancing among tables but it's so beautiful outside, next time I think I would slow down and get on the waitlist for outdoor seating. read more

I've been coming here since I was a little girl and absolutely love it!! I made a point to come here this trip especially since I miss southern food so much. The staff is always so so nice and they employ a ton of young people for the summer to help them out between school which I think is great. The oyster poboy is to die for!! We were accommodated nicely at a booth by the hostess since we had our 3 month baby. We ordered some local favorites from the menu, which were complimented nicely by some refreshing drinks by the bartender. However, our waitress was not up to par with the overall experience of this restaurant. I asked a question in regard to one of the menu items, in which resulted to being laughed at by the waitress as a joke of my intellectual capability regarding a common food question. Also, we also witnessed her sipping wine/ drink from a glass at the bar top, which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. I've never left any negative reviews about restaurants or business, since I'm a support local restaurants and shops type of guy, but this type of behavior and attitude had to be addressed. In case anyone was wondering who our waitress was her name was Metzi or something of that sort, she's average height and has short black hair with tattoos. If you have her as a waitress, my strong recommendation is to ask for another or be prepared for the same experience. read more

I happened upon this little gem as I was exploring the beautiful town of Beaufort. It's a long & relatively narrow Storefront but then opens up at the back as you face the water. It's so cute in here, has a coastal vibe & casual feel. I decided to sit on the back porch for lunch as it was a beautiful day. The place was packed with local people on lunch break eating outside. The staff & my server were super efficient & friendly. I enjoyed a fabulous Fit Turkey Wrap with Fruit. A bonus on both fronts, it was healthy eating & delicious to boot. They have a great selection of shellfish also. I spent quite a while here because it was so relaxing & the view fantastic. So if you are in Beaufort for a day, definitely stop in here for lunch. My wife and I decided to try a Resturant in Beaufort for lunch. We traveled from Walterboro to Beaufort (apparently 35 miles). The only thing positive was there is a handicap parking spot directly in front of the front door of the resturant. Service was terrible, they served the entree before the appetizers. We returned the Mac and cheese (cold from the refrigerator and was told by the waitress that this was the second one she had to return . The gumbo was bland and did not have any okra in it. How can you make gumbo without okra? The building and the tables and chairs are old. We will not be returning to this establishment . read more

A quick trip to Beaufort for the day, meant meeting friends at Plums. What a great meal! The crab cakes are the BEST I have ever had, and I'm super picky about crab cakes. The are loaded with lump crab and flavored exceptionally, topped with a sriracha aioli. They're perfection! Served with wonderfully creamy grits and a salad with peach vinaigrette dressing and a cornbread crouton. I recommend getting the order of two, I promise you won't regret it! Pair them with a warren's margarita and you have a superb coastal delight! You have the choice of sitting inside or out. We would have loved to dine outside but the dark clouds approaching advised us otherwise. We will definitely return to Beaufort for another visit and to Plums for some fabulous crab cakes. read more
