Everyone always raves about this place, and I have yet to try it. We got seated right away, and there was not a lot of people on a Friday. The margaritas were good, was not too heavy. The salsa was good and they make the guacamole right in front of you which is nice. It was not very loud in there, it was actually nice. I ordered the chimichangas. They were smothered in cheese, you couldn't even see where it was at. The rice and beans were okay, nothing crazy. Everything was just a little bland. I was not impressed. Food was delicious. Our waitress was the sweetest person ever. Just one complaint. I think it was a guy that worked back in the kitchen who came out to ask me what I wanted in my enchiladas. When I told him, he asked me three more times and looked at me as if I was dumb. He then was getting mad at our waitress claiming they "didn't have that on the menu" which they most certainly did. It just seemed like he talks down to women a lot and I wasn't having it at all. He was also completely in the wrong. Plaza Mexico is a great place to celebrate a birthday with friends and family. We went midweek about 6 pm. We were seated immediately by the friendly server at a table that has a long cushioned bench along one side and chairs along the other side. Drink orders were promptly delivered, the margaritas were perfectly mixed and refreshing. Big baskets of chips with salsa as well as freshly made guac helped to stave off our hunger pangs since all of the food being carried to other diners looked and smelled delicious! The entree choices abound: we chose Texas fajitas to split and they did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly seasoned. Everyone at the table enjoyed their selections. All areas of the restaurant were very clean. The decor is appealing without being too cliche. Can't forget to mention that all of the servers/staff were friendly and ready to please. Popped in for dinner on a Thursday evening with my brother and fiancé. We were seated right away but the restaurant was pretty busy. We started off with the cheese dip, which was way too small to be $6. Other local Mexican restaurants serve the same thing for half the price. Our dinner portions were a lot better. For entrees, we ordered a steak quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, and el macho. Everything was good- we agreed that the steak had a lot more flavor than the chicken. Service was great, they kept the chips and salsa coming as we devoured basket after basket. oh, and if you're a Coca Cola girly like me, know that this is a Pepsi establishment! read more

I am not a big fan of Mexican food, but we were celebrating mother's day and it was their choice of where we went to eat. The food was good for me not really liking it, but our service wasn't the best. We found that our drinks were empty a lot and our waiter was not arriving very often. The food is good and the service also. I come often, and usually the seating is unbiased. However, twice now they've tried to seat me in very undesirable locations. I assume that's because I'm eating by myself, but I'm respectable if elderly and tip well. The second time I was taken to a dark location at the very end fully four tables away from any other people. It was very cold in that area, too. I refused it and was seated in a more lighted area nearer other people that I chose; it was still cold, however, and people near me were complaining to the waitress and each other; she didn't do anything. I put a coat on. I won't let them seat me in anymore bad areas --- I'll leave if they insist --- but I'd love to know why they do this strange thing! Is it bias against solo diners? read more

At first, our server was very attentive and the food was good, but I was catching up with a friend and we had paid our bill and we were asked to leave the restaurant because our waiter needed the table for other people. I understand because it was a Friday night, but there was no one waiting for a table so I just felt like it was very rude to ask us to leave the restaurant when it wasn't even necessary. I would deceive the food here as "meh." It's not bad, but it's not great. It's your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant with cheesy decor and non authentic food. I got the mixed fajitas (chicken and steak) and it was pretty bland, although the meats were cooked well. The service was good and quick. Went on taco night for a light dinner. Chicken tacos were $2 each and beef were $1.50 each. Seemed like a very good deal, comes with cheese and lettuce. My girlfriend asked for tomatoes, onions and some jalapeños (jalapeños were on the side), I had mine as they came. We were charged $8 for onions, tomatoes and jalapeños almost as much as the darn tacos. Talk about gouging for extras not too mention $4 for each soda! So if you like to pay $16 for 2 sodas and a few small pieces of tomato and onion on 2 tacos with a side of jalapeños...this is your place! read more

Absolutely terrible service, we ordered 3 kids meals and it says on the menu free refills for soda and we got 2 refills and were changed $8 for the refills. When we asked the server why we were changed he said you don't get free refills. Also my daughter ordered a salad and it doesn't come with dressing. When she asked they brought out store bought containers of Italian and thousand island dressing. They were left on our table for a while outside and I'm sure they took them back in after and will use them for other customers. Definitely will not be returning. read more

Let me start off by saying, we all work in the restaurant industry so we came in being very patient and considerate on the fact that they were very busy because of the holiday. Took us about an hour to be seated then about another 20 minutes to be greeted once we sat down, which wasn't an issue to us. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. The table next to us who were seated AFTER us got their drinks, appetizers and entrees before us. Which again, we weren't super mad about. Our appetizer ended up coming along with our meals. My friend and I ordered the mixed fajitas and my other friend ordered a shrimp entree. Her entree was disgusting, she couldn't even take two bites of it. Our waiter never came to check on us so we had to ask a waitress nearby to get our waiter. Once he came, my friend explained to him how she didn't like her meal and would like to order something else, to which he seemed very annoyed about and stated that she would have to pay for the meal she didn't like as well. How can they make you pay for a meal you didn't like??? That didn't make any sense so we asked for a manager. The manager came over and said the same thing, and also tried to make my friend feel stupid by stating how she got what ordered and asking her if she read the description of the meal. Regardless of what the description says, if it tastes disgusting, WHY SHOULD SHE STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? Anyways we asked for our checks and boxes because we were ready to leave. Once I received my check I noticed an extra charge of beans on my tab. When brought to the waiter's attention, he lied and told me my meal didn't come with beans so he added it on as extra. Like I said earlier, my friend and I ordered the same thing and she got beans with hers. When I told the waiter that, he again looked very annoyed and asked ME if I can just take the charge out of his tip. HOW DOES THAT EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE? So I'm being forced to pay for something that was supposed to come with my meal??? Safe to say, this place is VERY unprofessional. It's like they threw all their common sense and customer service out the window because they were busy. We usually love this place but we ordered delivery today and had some issues with the food. First we ordered a taco salad with shrimp. The shrimp were good, but there was hardly anything else in the "salad". For $13 we expected more than just a little bit of lettuce and tomatoes (we had to ask for tomatoes) Second we got a chicken quesadilla which was tasty but quite soggy. And Third we ordered the Mexican Enchiladas. The meat was kind of dry and to top things off I pulled a hair out of it. Very dissatisfied for a place we go to quite frequently. read more

All I can say is wow! How does a Mexican restaurant server let alone the manager not know how much a margarita is? A group of ladies just left this establishment astonished by the lack of service. Our server didn't know what we ordered, couldn't read the receipt and two servers and the manager took 20 minutes to figure out what it seemed like they felt like for a margarita tonight. They also charged $20 for a small cereal bowl of queso...ridiculous! The Special dinner platter might have been one of the best spreads I could have gotten! The tamale was well flavored, the enchilada was saucy and soft, the beans were creamy, and the fried and breaded chile relleno was so savory and melty. The chips and salsa here are free, which is a huge plus! Warm, fresh chips, and thin red sauce with a lot of spice to it. The quesadilla was delicious as well, and even the hard shell taco was made of pretty delicious meat, toppings, and to top it off, the platter had a dollop of guacamole. Other than the dinner platters and the combinations, the specific chicken, fish, and beef dishes are priced a little more highly than I'd usually spring for, but from the quality of my special, I'd be happy to try a few other things on the menu. read more

The atmosphere is always lively and the staff are a lot of fun. They staff are always dancing and they allow you to choose a song from the iPod if you like. My husband, friend and I had just finished our food and were in the process of finishing the pitcher of Margaritas we had ordered when the check appeared on our table before we were even given the option of dessert or coffee. We paid the check and within minutes the manager came to our table and started clearing the remaining items including our unfinished drinks telling us that he had a reservation for the table in 15 minutes and he was sorry but we had to leave. This is a good Mexican restaurant without having to leave Fallston. They've stepped up their interior restaurant area and it's quite comfortable now. The margaritas are good and I like the table-side guacamole although it's a LOT and you need more than 2 people to finish it. I also have to say that you have to ask for at least double the extras otherwise it's very bland and they're kinda scared about adding too much. Our favorite local Mexican restaurant in Harford County. Service is always good, the food is fresh and reasonably priced. We especially like the Soupa Azteca (chicken tortilla soup). It is delicious and satisfying. My go to dish is enchiladas poblanos.. We eat here very regularly and the food is always good, the prices are very affordable, and the service even when busy is always friendly. It is loud but enjoyable. 05/14/19...Taco Tuesday...what a mistake. Overly crowded, lack of servers, poor prepared staff. Generally we love this place...I'll never make the mistake of Taco Tues again. 70 mins in and only managed to get chips, salsa, and a couple sodas. Only 2 servers working the floor. Ridiculous...also saw "preferred" seating for friends. There are numerous choices for this type of food in and around Belair. Will have to try one of the other places next time. read more

Visited here last Thursday and didn't realize that I had been at this restaurant once before until I arrived. It was busier than I expected for a Thursday evening. I ended up sitting at the bar since I had come alone and the person at the front seemed that he was hoping I'd choose the bar over a table. It wasn't a bad choice and prevented me from having to wait for a table. The bar tenders were quite busy and so weren't as attentive but considering that I was seated at the bar it really wasn't a big deal. A band was singing and playing music which was very nice. My food was very tasty. I ordered the quesadilla that had shrimp, scallops and crab. I would order it again. It came with a flavorful rice. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa that I was given before my food arrived. Everything tasted very fresh. The last time I visited I believe I ordered a tamale that had crab in it. That tasted good but I didn't really taste the crab as much as I wanted. With that being said, I definitely liked the dish I had this time even better.
