I am pretty laid back and understanding, but my experience here was terrible. My food was not as described on the menu, and the servers were far from knowledgeable about the menu. I met friends for lunch recently at one's recommendation that the "food was wonderful". This was a quiet day, not overly crowded & the service was very slow and careless. My choice was the Enchiladas Suizas which arrived right from the kitchen, but the food was cold suggesting our waitress was elsewhere & our food had been sitting for awhile. The tortillas were filled with all dark meat chicken that was previously cooked and then warmed.. the chicken was very overcooked; much like a left over leg which was dry as opposed to a thigh which may be more tender. The rice was pretty tasteless. My friends were going to split an entree but had to wait for an additional plate to arrive even though the waitress was made aware of the sharing at the time of order. So, long wait, very marginal food.. the location is good and the prices very affordable but I'd rather pay more and have a quality meal.. Wont' be going back! read more

Please do not order take out from this establishment. For starters they will get the order wrong. Second, the food will be served cold and everything will be served in aluminum foil instead of the expected restaurant container, leaving the food tasting like metal. Then when you complain everyone that works there all of sudden doesn't know how to speak English. read more

We LOVE this place and both the service and the food are always good. NO, this isn't "authentic Mexican" but its delicious!

My husband & I were so excited when we saw that they were opening a Plaza Azteca near our home. We had been to the one in Plymouth Meeting and the one in Kennett Square a few times and had always had a good experience and good food. Unfortunately our luck ran out this time. It took about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. The room was very warm, my husband saw people behind me fanning themselves with their menus, and what little ice that was in my iced tea melted before I even received my entrée. Somehow the salsa that was brought to the table had no flavor. I think they might have watered it down to make it stretch through the night. We were there around 9pm so it was an hour and a half before they closed. Our food came fairly quickly and was good, I had the shrimp potato enchilada and my husband had the burrito de la ruleta with chicken, both were served with rice which was a little too salty. Our server was very nice when he was around but I ran out of iced tea long before he came to check on us again but he had gone past our table 3 or 4 times without glancing our way. I'm not sure if we will try it again after they've been open a little longer (from other reviews it seems like they've been open 3-4 weeks already) but I won't be rushing back any time soon. read more

Ever hear the saying "good food isn't fast and fast food isn't good?" That pretty much sums up this place. Good food. Really good - so good after our first time we ate here twice in one week. The downside is we had to wait for a table for at least 20 minutes each time (on a Tuesday too!) and the service was majorly lacking - we never got drink refills, we saw our server once each time - and had to look for people to help us everytime we needed something. They seem busy all the time and there isn't enough servers working in there. They could use more help! This would usually be a deal breaker for going back to a restaurant, but... now about the food - delicious! I'm not even a huge fan of Mexican but everything seems fresh - get the table side guacamole - the best! My husband got the ENCHILADAS NORTEÑAS and OMG - they were so good! They melt in your mouth like butter. We left with boxes each time, they definitely give you your moneys worth! read more

I was excited to see a Plaza Azteca open closer to home. I had eaten at the Kennett Square location and was very pleased. After a long morning of shopping, I decided to stop as a lone diner to enjoy a quick lunch. The hostess and waiter were both friendly. I ordered the two taco combo worth rice and beans. I forgot to specify that I wanted soft tacos. The waiter didn't ask. When they came out, a food runner had delivered them. They were hard shell, which I HATE. I ate the rice and waited for my server to come back. Waited, waited , and waited. When he finally returned, I explained that I don't like hard shells. If he could just bring me the soft shells tortillas. Well, another runner came with a whole new meal. I was confused. I just wanted the tortillas, not a whole new lunch. He dropped off the check without a word. Not, how is it, do you need a box, would you like dessert, nada. I looked at my check and was charged for two meals! I waited and waited. Oh, he left. Another server stopped my table to tell me he went on break and left the restaurant. That server said he would get a manager and the manager never came over. The sever said "just leave what you think you owe." Good thing I wasn't paying by credit card because the server closed my check in the computer system. i usually go to plymouth meeting location as it was the first in the region. however i attended a mens group dinner at the exton location and found it to be as wonderful as the plymouth meeting. excellent food and service, economical prices, and an honest staff! my last trip i carelessly dropped $73.00! while standing at the bar. i did not discover this until it was time to pay the bill an hour and a half later.! disapointed in my stupidity, i wrote it off, and as my other guests offered to cover my portion, one encouraged me to ask a staff member if anyone had found some loose cash. the bartender asked all of the other employees if they had found anything and a server immediately came forward and said she had indeed found it on the floor and turned it over with a smile! what a surprise! i will aways remember my experience there and plan return often. it was clear that every member of the staff was concerned about tring to find the cash. i have no doubt that a culture of great honest service is encouraged in this company. read more

I ate here last Friday night. We used to go often, and back then (last spring/early summer 2016) it was a totally different experience and really good. The service now is worse than terrible. The bartenders had no sense of urgency, had no attentiveness to empty drinks, no sense of urgency, did not provide eating utensils or plates, food came out cold, they never checked if food was OK, we waited almost 5 minutes for forks while food got cold in front of us. No request from them to get us fresh hot food, staff was not on top of their clients even a little bit. I have never in my life not left a tip, but this was it. When we asked for a receipt (they had just printed out a receipt for another bar guest), we were told the machine was not working and they had to print from another terminal. 10 minutes later, the receipt came. The cash drawer at bar was not operable, they were using their cell phone calculator to calculate change due back (they owed us back $ .10 (a dime). These folks behind the bar are not bartenders. They had no idea what they were doing and had horrible customer service skills. They should immediately be removed and put behind the dishwasher, as they had no personal skills to work with the public. We will not be back. Do not be tempted with the ValPak coupons as even with this discount, it's not worth even walking in the door. If I could give it zero stars, I would. read more

We had a lame dining experience at this restaurant, beginning with the poorly trained server, who didn't know much about anything. My wife's burrito was stuffed mostly with rice and onions -- the cheap stuff. Not too much meat. My enchiladas had chicken in the middle but the tortillas were hollow at the ends. Everything gets covered in sour cream here unless you request otherwise. My wife's house margarita tasted nothing like a margarita. The more expensive margarita she tried next was more up to snuff. What made me vow never to return to Plaza Azteca was when I got charged $1.25 for extra lettuce that was requested on the burrito, which consisted of a few skimpy shreds. Note to management: When you nickle-and-dime your customers over a reasonable request like some extra lettuce, don't expect them to become repeat customers. The one commendable part of the meal was the table-side quacamole for $7,99 (tip can in prominent view). It was generous and well prepared. read more
