Literally love this place! I go in all the time and come out with a handful of things. My closet is basically all from Platos that's how obsessed I am! I always find really nice things! Plus employees also help me find things I'm looking for. My designer purses are from this Platos and got them all for $45 or less. And my outfits are so cute and in style that nobody knows I thrifted it. And when I tell them they never believe it. I recommend highly ! Property of mine that I had brought in intending to sell was stolen by an employee or employees of this establishment. This store is nothing but a bunch of thiefs, liars, cheats, who show nothing but disrespect, all the way up to the top of the chain. I will be filling a police report for my stolen property, I will be posting this review everywhere. The gal that went through my clothes name was kaitlynn, she works at the clackamas/happy valley platos, do not trust these people with your belongings. I talked to the manager, who didn't seem to care whether or not my stuff was stolen, I then got directed to the owner who also doesn't seem to care that my stuff was stolen. I really like shopping here, and I've found a lot of nice clothing that actually fit me! I have found some clothing that is overpriced just for the brand, though. Their employees are very friendly in my experiences. There is loud *VERY* obnoxious music, hence the three stars. Multiple times I have left due to this. I've been shopping at Platos closet for years now. I've never had any issues with them. The girls that work there are always nice and friendly. I went to try and sell a few items and was given a time that the buy back would be ready. So I walked around for a little bit and came back, and my name still wasn't on the board. I always love coming here and I understand that it gets busy. But an over two hour wait when you were told something different, is kind of frustrating to me. read more

Before I go in to details I'd like to say, this location seems to be intended for teenage girls who favor forever 21. I wish they knew more about clothing. They turned away Elizabeth and James crop tops with tags from this season, baby blue Justin boots, new unworn paloma boots, wildfox tees(nwt and used), alice and olivia and haute hippie. 50% nwt, all current. I called ahead and they said to bring in "shirts and boots!!" Again, I didn't know they don't understand brand's and don't care so much for quality. There's nothing wrong with this. Teens buy clothes too! Now I know. My problem is the absurd rudeness of the staff. I cannot believe how snotty and unnecessary this attitude was. I would like to invite the owner and/or manager of this location to please get in touch. I can prove the truthfulness of my clothing up for offer and can provide more details about the repulsive behaviour of staff. Ladies with high end items, don't bother. read more

You'll have a better chance at Plato's closet buying from you if your not BLACK. I been going to them for 5yrs straight and they never brought not one item from me. The employees gave me and my items dirty looks all of the customers are mainly Caucasian so when I walk in they also give dirty looks. As if I'm not even suppose to be there Its so uncomfortable in that place and if they do buy the items they'll 20 bucks for 60 different items or say it's not in style when all of their clothing is dim grungy looking smell like someone's old basement shoes be extra worn and dirty strings hanging off clothes and they make it seem like they take everything brand new i recommend anyone who is African American to never ever enter that place they will not buy non what so ever and if they do be expected to get paid 20dollars or less. I'm a huge fan of this location. It's a fun scavenger hunt and I always manage to find a few items that I can't live without. I find the selection to be fantastic as there are so many different brands and styles to choose from. And you really can't beat the prices. I find organizing the shirts by color to be a bit strange instead of by size but I'm sure it works for some people. read more

Only my second time here first time wasn't completely a bad experience but today made me think it was not worth to comeback again. I was selling clothes today and so were many other people. They didn't take long at all to put my name on the board and I had a full laundry basket. They said my stuff was out of date which wasn't true at all, a good amount of the stuff I brought in were brand new without tags and they said my stuff had obvious signs of wear again not true. The stuff they had on the racks was worse than what I and other people were bringing in. I would of bought a pair of pants but they had a pinks stain on them which ruined them. My boyfriend would of bought a couple things as well but again stains on items huge amount of hair on items. I say the employees were more focused on conversing among themselves and not really put any effort into their work or the way the store looked. I've been to platoes closet for years in the state I just moved from and they were the best experience ever I'm just so amazed at both locations I've been to in Oregon compare nothing to customer service or organization. I only come in here when I need fast cash on the spot and don't feel like selling my clothes elsewhere. They will ONLY buy name brand. And even then they're extremely picky and barely give you any money for your product worth. They've only ever taken my Nike products, American Eagle Outfitters, and Hollister products. That's all I'll ever bring in. They give you barely any money for the clothes you bring in. And their selection is absolute trash. Worn out clothing with holes and rips and tears, stains, just absolute garbage. I dread ever going in here, but getting a few dollars for a pair of jeans I won't ever fit into ever again is a little better than donating them to a for-profit organization like goodwill. I'll never shop here, and I only go in once in a blue moon. I'd rather let the clothes sit in my closet for eons than come in here. There not worth one star. I was expecting somthing different I was expecting these girls to be nice and work with style they work with one thing " slutty clothes" they don't want your stuff unless it's half cut clothes and trashy stuff that's worn out. I brought them Armani and guess etc very expensive brands and they handed it back to me none of the items were worn, I tend to buy things and forget about them so I thought I would bring all these very stylish trendy clothes to them and apparently my style was too dressy for them terms for it wasn't slutty enough. They make you feel like your clothes are worth nothing and your style is out dated. Not everyone likes showing ass or half there stomach. I may be there age but I'm a mom and I find it very disturbing that they only look for one trend. I think this place should go. I definitely will never go there again.! It's not worth anybody's time nor to buy stuff from there I was looking around while they were looking at my clothing and I mean stuff were missing tags or it was so worn it's fading or shoes are really worn out i thought oh for sure they should take my things because crying out loud nothing has been worn I was just extremely disappointed and disgusted. read more

I've only been here once to sell clothes, and it will be the last. They took my stuff and told me to come back 1 1/2 hrs later. I drove pretty far to get to the location, so that was not something I was expecting to hear when I got there. It sounded so quick and simple on the website. I brought in several things, all of which I purchased within the last 2 years, but never really wore, including shoes that I never wore once. After wasting my time around town, I came back only to find out that they didn't want anything. They said the brands were right, but they were too old. Doesn't the website say they take things that have been on the rack within the last 12-18 months? I'm confused. It was all pretty cute stuff too. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

I like the idea of this business, but they have some issues to figure out. 1) The stuff that you bring in that they DON'T take and then the quality and style of the things that you see on their racks that they HAVE taken- doesn't make any sense. 2) I also don't understand why they have such a limited to no selection of larger sized clothing. The average american girl is a size 14/16. Their racks are full of size small/medium clothes, yet every time I've been in there to shop there are bigger girls looking around. If you want a successful business you need to appeal to the general public- curvy girls make up a huge portion of the population these days! 3) I'm not expecting to be treated like a princess when I come in, but the staff has no sense of urgency and are always slow, unfriendly, and I always get the feeling I'm annoying them when trying to get a dressing room....doesn't really give me the "I wanna go back there again!" feeling. On the plus side their jean selection is usually great, prices are considerably lower than if you were to go buy it brand new, and the location is convenient if you're spending a day shopping around Clackamas Town Center/82nd area. As for their reimbursement rates for things they buy I think they're reasonable and are very upfront about what they are willing to pay. If you're that sentimentally attached to a specific item, sell it on craigslist or ebay. read more

Brought in a big bag of clothes and they literally would take none of it. Not even the clothes with tags still attached. I was told the colors weren't what they were looking for and there were some minor wear. Umm.. My clothes looked in much better condition compared to 70% of the stuff they had on their racks so I'm a bit confused. So, I went in and dropped off my clothes, which I wasn't too sure about to begin with. When I came back to pick up, what I assumed would be a little money, they told me they wouldn't buy anything because it was either too worn or out of date! OMG! That was the very last thing I expected. There were two items I bought there and never wore plus springtime items and shorts and shorter skirts. Not to mention name brand labels. I have been here a few times and have experienced friendly customer service. Two girls in particular have been very nice and helpful. One girl with red hair got me a dressing room and gave me her honest and friendly opinion and when she checked me out she wished me a happy Mother's Day and the other girl who was tall with brown hair helped me find a whole outfit that I wanted. it made my experience there better. Their selection is okay (some older stuff).They greeted me as I walked in which also created a great atmosphere. However,the way the purchase our clothes wasn't really explained to me well and I was confused, when I went to get my stuff back they passed on most of my stuff. Overall,not a great place to sell your clothes but a great place to shop. read more

I've sold clothes here a few times and only had one positive experience. I always take in clean new high quality (current style) clothes and they are always rude and tell you how out of style your clothes are or something like that. It's happened to me and I've seen it happen to other customers as well. And it takes forever for them to go through it because they're chatting each other up behind the counter. The one good experience I had was wish a guy working there. He was awesome. And the stuff they have on the racks is CRAP. Total crap. I read another reviewer said the employers sell they're old clothes so they don't buy anyone else's and I believe it. The Clackamas location is awful. Salem is worth the drive. They're fantastic. Night and day difference. I wouldn't recommend the Clackamas store at all. Rude staff and poor quality stuff. No more. read more

I don't even want to give this place one star. Every single time I come in it takes these girls way too long to look through the clothes. I've been told on multiple occasions that it will take a half hour and it ends up being longer. I see them just standing around and talking, which isn't professional at all. Today I went it again to see if I could sell the rest of my clothes. I get there and I see one girl in particular with my clothes. She dumps the bag out on the counter and doesn't even unfold them to look at them. While they're still folded on the counter she just stuffs them back into the bag (I was looking at what she was doing the whole time). She proceeds to tell me that there were signs of wear and not patterns they're taking. How could she possibly know this if she didn't even look at them?? And what patterns? None of my clothes had patterns on them. The clothes I brought in had no signs of wear because I don't bring in clothes like that ever. I also brought in a couple items that were brand new and never worn. I also had a brand new phone case in the bag, and I know they take phone cases all the time, and she didn't bother to look at it. After she tells me that they won't take my clothes she walks away. She was rude and didn't seem like she wanted to be doing her job. I hate coming here because of their crappy service and the fact that they don't actually take the time to look at the clothes. This place sucks. read more

All im saying is if you're African American you are out of luck. You have to either be blond or black but look like u have some type of money. They absolutely do not buy from black people. They'll make u wait 3 hours before even giving your things a look. Then when they do look at it they look at it with disgust the employees are very rude even the shoppers look at black people like what are we doing here the feminine guys are the worst and so are some of the heavier weight women employees smh Soon as i walk in the door from the employees to the shoppers everyone has a mean mug of disgust on their faces. I have never found anything in that store that has suited me well. My boyfriend bought a pair of what looked like new work boots and they fell apart within a week of use. I also started my period there one time and they would not even let me use the bathroom so I had to run back to my car. The girls are always rude, but it is Clackamas so I do not expect less. I have tried to sell my clothes twice and I understand their recommendations, but apparently my clothes are from last year; and the way the cashier put it was that I am out of style but in so many tactful words. I could not believe it, I can not afford to keep up with Johnsons and nor do I care to. I do not shop at the mall anyways and that is where they want their clothes to be from, and where they should come from if you are selling clothes. It is ridiculous, I also bought a pair of cute anklet cow girl boots and they were so terribly uncomfortable I had to give them away, they should tell you the condition the clothes or what ever other product is in before you buy; although I understand it is a second hand shop or thrift clothing store. I have seen clothes in there that have holes in them or purses that are tattered, I also bought a big purse there and it looked fine, but after only four uses, the purse started falling apart. Worst service ever. I came in not too long ago to hopefully have plato's purchase some of my clothes. I brought in a bag of clean, un-ripped clothes that were not old styled at all. I also brought in a bag of brand new shoes that didn't fit and later on I had to remind the chatty staff about. Anyways, it took them over an hour to look through my bag and it wasn't even a busy day at all. They rushed through my clothes and didn't even take the time to look at all. She only decided to buy three pairs of new Hollister jeans for $15 :( I accepted the offer because otherwise they would've went to goodwill anyways. She gave me my full bag of clothes back and said some clothes don't fit their standards. I'm shocked because while they took so long I browsed around the store and found multiple shirts, jeans and even shoes that were worn out and/or ripped. It's so annoying how picky they're. At the very end I asked if they had looked at my brand new shoes and they looked puzzled. The staff didn't even take the time to look through all of my clothes! NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN! read more

My daughter has shopped here for years. On her last visit she purchased over $100 of merchandise, but one item was listed on the receipt, but didn't make it into the bag. She returned to the store and told them that the Nike sweatpants that she paid $14.00 for weren't in the bag. They asked the manager who had checked her out and he insisted he had put them in the bag, so there was nothing they could do. Apparently he felt he was incapable of making a mistake. Basically they were calling her a liar. I went back with her and asked if they could at least give her a store credit, or replace the sweat pants, but they said they couldn't do that without the item, which of course, she didn't have! So much for customer service, or the customer being right. I asked if I could speak to the manager, but he refused. I was being very pleasant and reasonable, so I don't know what that was about. This was my first time selling items at a Plato's Closet location. I have sold items at a few other places in the Portland area over the past few months and my experience here was fantastic. I was greeted immediately upon my arrival by a friendly associate that was in the middle of finishing up a buy for another customer. Another associate came over, greeted me, got me signed up and said I could leave my items with her and either hang out at ta he shop or come back in about 20 minutes and they would have answer for me regarding the items I was looking to sell. 15-20 minutes later I was called back up to the counter and was informed that they would be happy to offer me cash or store credit for 5 of the ten items brought in. I said I would like cash and she provided me with an itemized receipt complete with the cash value of each item. The amount they offered was exactly in line with the pricing I had received from other locations in the area. The cash amount was fair and I was happy to accept. Minutes later I walked out with cash in hand. In addition, the store had a great selection of styles in all sizes and the store was clean and organized. I will definitely be back to this location to sell items in the future and would gladly recommend it to my friends. Thank you from a very happy customer. read more

I live two hours away from Portland, and I wasn't going to goto Plato's closet because of their terrible reviews but I after wasting my time at Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads I decided to call Platos and make sure they took the brands of clothes I had. They told me that I would not be wasting my time so I made the trip there only to find out I was going to have to wait 2 hours which of course they did not mention on the phone. So I waited and when they were finished I left with 8 dollars!! I had FOUR boxes of worn once or still had tags Hollister, Abercrombie, Forever 21, Wetseal, I could go on and on. They were also really cute and in season!! Do not waste your time there!! They told me on the phone they give you 30% to 70%, it is a total LIE. They took a brand new Hollister skirt never worn, and 3 tops for 8 dollars. On top of that my barely worn BCBG zip-up jacket they wanted to give me 6 dollars. People, don't let this business rip you off!! You are better off selling your clothes at yard sales or sales on FB. read more
