How is it I have store credit but I can't use it? I sell clothes, put it into store credit and now the employees don't have access to allow me to redeem it? *** My 3 year old stepped on a 1 inch tack that went completely through his Nike shoe sole and into his foot. His shoes are almost brand new aka the sole is thick/the thickness is not worn down and the tack went ALL the way through and then some. We were told there was no one in charge of the store so the best they could do is provide the owners phone number. I brought one bag to sell. We were there for 20+ minutes and not a single employee looked through or touched any bags from people selling. There were 6+ bags all from different people waiting for an employee to look at their items. When I asked for a time estimate on my bag the blonde employee, who stated she had seniority said she wasn't going to do it because she was off soon and that the next person to clock in would get to it (they weren't there yet) and it would take however long they take to do it. I've never had such a horrible experience at a Plato's. In fact, I've never had a bad experience at any of them including this one that I've been to many times before. The employees today were awful, didn't want to do their job and, in part, weren't even ABLE to do their job(finding my store credit). Also, the employees are usually nice and very helpful. The employees today hardly talked, didn't say a word when I needed a fitting room they just looked at me, opened the door and walked away. I set some things down to switch my baby into my other arm and an employee started going through the items I set down without saying anything and I had to stop her and tell her I wasn't ready. Communication was a 0/10 today and my son being stabbed in the foot with a 1 inch tack genuinely pisses me off, thanks for that read more

Service was HORRIBLE. We've been coming to this Plato's for a year and it's horrible all around. The clothes is never cute and they are over priced. The workers are always rude and never respect people's time. We walked in to sell our clothes and one lady told us we were first in line and it wouldn't take long. The queue said our items would be ready at 12:30 and we went up at 12:35 to check and they weren't. So we left and came back and once again they weren't done but they had just started, even after saying we were the first inline. Will NEVER come back here again. Fine I suppose if you genuinely do not care about what you get back but even going in with that mindset it's annoying to receive $5 shoes that retail for $70 that could very well be sold for $25 but they choose to sell for $15. Just came here today to try to sell some clothes. A majority of these clothes were never worn (some still had the tags!), in great condition, clean, from popular brands like Levi's and Calvin Klein. I had a huge bag of clothes, probably 50+ items of quality clothing. However, I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Plato's Closet. First of all, the Gresham store is extremely crowded, disorganized, and filthy. The workers are ALL rude and dismissive. I felt like they just wanted me to shut up and leave, which was sad. They told me to come back in 20-30 minutes. When I did, they said they would buy 3 items. THREE!!! And offered me $10 bucks. The girl claimed that this location is "extremely selective" and not looking to buy much right now... isn't that the whole point of a store like Plato's Closet?!? Between their horrible employees, the dirty and dysfunctional store, and just plain bad business practices, I'm truly shocked this location is still open! It says they're "under new management" but hopefully they'll undergo a different management soon, because I will NEVER come back here until they do. read more

Employee who hates her job and lets customer know it. Wow! 5 days ago I purchased a pair of pants for my husband, I asked if I could return/exchange and still use my $5 coupon or do I loose it with exchange if they don't fit, she assured me I'd get the full amount towards exchange able use points coupon. Of course when I went to do the exchange, this was not the case. I told the cashier (ESF) and she asked do you know who your cashier was? No, because you don't wear name badges but it's on the receipt. She continued to insist on I pay the difference of five dollars then looked at the receipt, rolled her eyes at the initials, which was apparently "Gracie"and asked if I wanted buy a bag, wow! Such bad service, I will not return. Ironically, before we started, I asked her how she was doing and if the 50% sale was making it busy? She said with much attitude it's busy but with "buys" people come in wanna sell their stuff and nobody is shopping. I wonder why? At the checkout I mentioned I had followed their site in IG and the gentlemen gave me $5 off. Come to find he was part owner of this location and designed/built this place. I am so pissed off at this place I've been shopping here for years! And I'm talking years like 12 years and I have found some things that needed to be fixed and what not but not anything big. But the other day I found this really cute crop top that was literally like crocheted all the way together And the strap was completely hanging off by a thread and I asked her if she could give it to me for like five dollars because it's going cost me probably $15 to get the strap fixed because it was crocheted and she said no I can't and I said you can't do anything about it? And she said the most I will do is 10% off! In a very very rude manner. So I simply asked her if she could please let me talk to the manager and she said I am the manager and laughed at me! I was just absolutely appalled!!! They were customers behind me laughing at me and as I was walking out I could hear them saying things about me it was so unprofessional and so rude!!!! She refused to give me any kind of number to call as far as any management above her. This happened in Gresham on the Burnside location. And for being a manager I couldn't believe the way she dresses!!!!! Had a greasy hair up in a bun some holy black big T-shirt and some dirty pair of shoes and a worn out para jeans. I'm not judging on luxe by any means but if she is a manager what is going on here?? I almost didn't believe her because of how unprofessional and how she looked. I will never be going to this location ever again. I wouldn't have been so upset if they would've treated me differently and if they would've taken their job seriously. I wish I could say I still like this place, but after recent encounters with employees, it's sad to say that Plato's closet isn't a nice place to shop anymore. From the rude attitude from all the girls who work there, to the lack of plus size clothing is honestly disappointing. Every time I come in, I'm never greeted kindly, it's always just a brief "welcome" as the girls go back to whatever they were gossiping about. I understand wanting to have fun at work with your friends, but when it comes in the way of helping people who need help, it's honestly rude and disrespectful. Following posts on Instagram is disappointing too, when every Jean size posted is either a size 2-5, up to the extreme of a size 18. There is nothing in between, it's just not realistic. It's really frustrating to walk through and find a very small inventory of plus size, while sizes such as small and medium have a surplus. And then it doesn't make it any better when the employees are rude. read more

Teenage blonde chick with purple hair was so rude and snippy. I took my mom in to trade in her clothes. My mom didn't accept the clothes that they wanted because we felt we were given too little with how much my mom paid for her clothes (unworn and with tags). I caught the girl rolling her eyes and being rude, even though my mom apologized and was thankful that they took the time to go through her things. I do not recommend this place. I love consignment!! I was so happy to find out this location was moving to Gresham! I always seem to find great deals here. The sales associates are kind of rude. When it comes to selling stuff to them, if you don't wanna sell it because they offer you very little money for your items, they get snippy. I also dropped an item once outside and got home and realized I didn't have it, I called and the lady on the phone told me I was on my own and had a really bad attitude. I worked retail, I would have at least told the customer I was sorry about the situation haha. They also had better brands when they were in clackmas. First off, I never write reviews, but this one I had to. I didn't want to believe the reviews when I read them, so I went in and experienced every bad review I read. They didn't take a single item, and I had really nice clothes and a pair of brand new boots. When I went to pick up, they told me my clothes had stains on them. 'Stains?' I asked, 'can you show me where?' She replied, ever so snotty, 'They're there.' I took my bags and left. Got home and looked at the clothes and guess what I found, not a single stain, on anything! I would NOT do business with this location.  My daughter came in to that store and dropped off clothing to be assessed for their value.  We got a text from the store that they had completed the valuation.  When she went in, they offered her 8 dollars for a pair of shoes and a shirt.  She declined the offer and asked for her shoes and shirt back.  They told her that they had already taken possession of the items and that she had to buy them back.  Being 15, she did not know that this was a violation of the store policy and the law, but I DO.  That was tantamount to theft. It does NOT become their property until you have accepted their offer for it.  The amount that she lost was not significant, but the principal is. If they try this with you, I would advise calling the police right away and have them assist you to get your property back.  I will be investigating the relevant city, county or state agencies charged with regulating this business and filing a complaint.  The city, county or state's AG  office may want to hear about this as well.  I'm starting with he city of Gresham's office of business licenses and the better business bureau If you are the owner and are reading this, you need to update your employees. read more

The staff at this location were all pretty young but very attentive and respectful. I came around 11 AM on a Monday morning and had my buy processed in about 20 minutes or so. Which is great in my opinion, especially considering that there were only two staff members working at that time. Prices were fair and Daniel explained the store pricing policy quickly and clearly. I would definitely recommend this location. It is clean, the staff are friendly, and they have a wide ranging and trendy selection. They even had a plus size feature wall and a designated area for their items that had been posted on Instagram! JP took me here yesterday so that I could buy some jeans. I was surprised that Plato's Closet smelled clean, not like that one exchange just off Hawthorne that smells like grandma's attic. The abundant staff was helpful and friendly. I didn't check out the other clothes, but the jeans inventory for guys was hefty. The big selling point is that you can get near new jeans for $25 here that would otherwise cost $200+ retail. I bought two pair. read more

I noticed a lot of the negative reviews are from people who had a bad experience selling to Plato's. I've never personally sold there but I love shopping at this place! I would describe it like going to goodwill or salvo, but most everything is mall-brands and you don't have to dig through a bunch of trash before finding something cute. The prices are very competitive, most of the items are priced comparatively to goodwill, with more expensive brands (brandy, UA, hunter boots, etc) being obviously a little more expensive, but very reasonable in my opinion! They often have new with tags items for sale as well, and they put out new bins of stuff often so there's regularly new things to look at. The Plato's Closet Clackamas has an Instagram where they regularly post pictures of different outfits with the price and size of each item, and you can comment directly on the post to hold an item for the rest of the day/noon of the following day, which is super cool! A few cons/things to note: The staff is mostly young, high school aged girls and they are generally friendly but sometimes are on their phones/are busier chatting with each other than checking in with customers. From what I've been told, they have a TON of merchandise in the back as well as the merchandise on the floor. Keep in mind that they have bought everything they have, which is a lot of money they've spent sitting there, so they can't always buy something even if it's "barely worn and so cute!" if they already have a full inventory of items from that category. Overall I still love shopping there, and will continue going there for cheaper prices on cute clothes :) read more

So I've now been to this location -- next on my list is Vancouver but I probably won't ever have time lol 1. I like this location more than the Beaverton location purely because of size. There's a lot more clothing here to go through, I was here probably twice as long because it was easy to get around. The aisles are a bit small at the other location. But because it's big and has lots more clothing, there's more options. I found more brand names that I was looking for here. I will give the other location a better try but for now, this one is my preferred location. Unfortunately though, like most Plato's closets there's no real "clear" organization at all. I would really love to see "outwear" or "knit tee" signs so I can get an idea of how they organize things because each rack is very different. Also this store mixes clearance items with everything else, I'm sure it's not intentional, but at the Beaverton location they get their own isle. They also have a rack for certain brands while this store only cares about PINK. They have a whole wall for it. Which is kind of bizarre. Because PINK isn't that great.. but lol Also, the shoe selection is so small for how large the store is. I'm an 8.5, the average size for a woman in the US (statically) and I hardly saw any. At least any shoes that were worth purchasing.. as someone that does commercialization for a living, I just felt like there's so much work that can be done on Plato's to make it better for shoppers + make more profits. Anyway, it's a nice store but so far I don't know how I feel about it in comparison to the other locations. The girls were very nice -- cashier asked for my birthday so I could get a discount cone to my day of birth lol which the other store did not do. I'm at a loss with Plato's. I am a pretty frequent shopper and find myself with more clothes than I can handle at least twice a year. The last three times I have gathered my belongings (one big bag worth the first time, then two big bags the next two times) and made the trek to Plato's, guess how much they bought from me? Not. a. damn. thing. I have bought things from this Plato's location, wore them once or twice, and then tried to sell them back to this Plato's location a year later. No dice. Not to mention the large amounts of typical Plato's fare (H&M, Forever 21, Target, etc.) that I also brought in. Nothing. It's kind of hilarious. The last time I was in there a week or so ago, I spent about 15 minutes perusing the aisles. That's all the time it took for me to look at every piece of plus size clothing they had, unfortunately. I'm not sure what this place's deal is with buying plus sized clothes. I was so excited when they first started accepting them, but now it seems like they're back to everything being size 12 and under. It's really a shame, especially since girls like me still deserve to look fabulous on a budget. That being said, if you want fabulous, there are SO many other options in the area. Also within my 15 minutes of looking, I noticed so many clothes that were hole ridden and pilly. My barely worn clothes were too worn, but this nasty gray shirt with a huge hole on the boob is totally fine and worth $7.50? Yeah, okay. Buffalo Exchange is slightly more expensive and is a few extra miles away on Hawthorne, but you're going to get a lot more money for your gently used clothes, plus more bang for your buck. If you're looking to buy, Goodwill and Salvation Army are both within a mile or two--Goodwill has their half off color deals and Salvation Army has half off everything on Wednesdays, so you're much better off finding something you'll like there. read more

They moved from clackamas to gresham and so my sister and i decided to pay them a visit to check out their new location. Its very organized and they have a large selection of dresses which is the only pluses. Minuses- very tiny walkway, i was pushing a stroller and my sister was also and could barely make it without bumping into things. Their cashiers were very not friendly didnt even greet us when we walked in even though we were the only ones there and were giving us rude stares because of our strollers. When we checked out there was no communication no have a good day thanks for coming in, they just made me pay and thats it, made it seem like they were happy we were leaving. They don't really have a great selection in bigger sizes but I was able to find a really cute xl sweater that was on clearance for $4.99 because of a stain but i washed it and it came out and its super cute. But im not sure ill visit again, the customer service is a really big thing for me and it wasnt there. At all. read more

I was in town for the weekend visiting family and I needed another pair of pants. Sister in law was gunna take me to another clothing store a few doors down. I noticed Plato's Closet and wanted to look in there first. Upon arrival it smelled clean. Not like other second hand stores. Some of the shoes in my opinion had no life left and price was pretty high. The clothing was pretty well organized which was convenient. Mostly in style trendy expensive name brand's. I didn't find any pants to my liking, however, I found a blouse! Didn't really NEED it but it was cute & great condition and decent price so I bought it. The prices seem to vary depending on name brand. A "VS Pink" t-shirt might be more than say a t-shirt from "Hollister". They have plenty of fitting rooms. Lots of folks bringing in clothes & shoes to sell. Men's and women's clothing and shoes. Handbags, dresses & gowns, jackets, fitness clothing. Saw a sign saying they were taking spring and summer clothes. read more

Been to this location a free times now and never have had much kick singing anything. The clothes tends to be of just a lower caliber than the Beaverton location or even the Vancouver one. And the prices here seem high for what they offer, again, just comparing to the other locations in your area. Ex. The daughter found a Pink sweatshirt. It was way worn, washed one too many times to be in a Plato's and not a Goodwill and they still wanted $20 for it. The men's section is not that big. Maybe 1/4 - 1/3 the store. The workers were nice and friendly. Music was decent, at least they had some. I can't stand when a store doesn't have music. Totally kills the shopping vibe. read more

I got a pair of sandles for a dollar, so I can't be too mad. I will say it was a pretty unwelcoming environment. The music was overwhelmingly loud. There were plenty of employees around but when it came time to check out they all seemed preoccupied with other things. There was one cashier ringing up a lady who was buying a giant stack of clothes and still picking stuff out at the register, wandering off and coming back with other things. Basically it was a never ending transaction and the line behind me grew and grew. Although there were a bunch of employees coming and going behind the cash wrap they waited until the line was 5 deep to ring up the other people. So far I haven't had any issues with rude staff here, as everyone has been very polite and helpful, although they are a bit on the slow side. The location isn't great, but for what you are getting I think it is well worth it. They have a good selection of reasonably priced clothes that are clean and in great condition. The prices for buy backs are decent, but they are very particular about what they will take, but I suppose that is why most of their clothing is in almost new condition. You will not find any ripped, stained or odd smelling (think that special Goodwill mothball/urine stench) clothes here. A great place anyone who wants to have a nice wardrobe, without getting bent over by paying full retail price. read more

Place to go for cute "teenagery" outfits! You can find anything from sexy heels to nice blouse, jeans, cardigans, dresses, sweaters, t-shirts and accessories for guys & girls, most are priced reasonably. I did, however, come to SELL my teenage outfits (not forever 21 anymore you know...). - They definitely like NEW or barely used items - Items from major brands (ex/ ON, H&M, XXI, Charlotte Russe, Gap, AE, Hollister) - Fashionable, popular designs that young people will buy I'm not sure how good their offers are compared to other exchange clothing stores. Don't expect too much return, perhaps a few bucks for that 1 or 2 pieces of item they pick from the two full bags you come in with, and you may be surprised. I had been selling and buying at Plato's for the last six years. Today was the last time I will ever go in there. They have been picky the last couple times I have been in there. One time my mother went in there with some of my clothes while I was at work and the person told her, "I can look through it but we don't usually take clothing of your generation". My mother reassured them if they would look they would find out it was my clothing. I'm 22 years old. I tried on a pair of MissMe jeans, they were super cute and comfy and I wanted to buy them until I found a huge rip in the butt of the jeans near the pocket. They were charging $45 for worn ripped jeans. I went up to tell the assistant manager named, "Ryan". He was very condescending and defensive. I told him I felt like that was overpriced and that he shouldn't be selling a damaged item. He marked them down from $45 to $22. I told him they were still damaged! They are still ripping the buyer off. He said some things under his breath, I don't know what and when I asked he said "nothing". The jeans were a stretch like fabric and the rip is near the pocket. It was not a fashion rip. It was someone split them while wearing them. There is no way to fix them that wouldn't make it noticeable. I told him I wasn't coming back. He didn't apologize or anything.
