I will send this to the BBB as well. They could care less about customer service. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am renting a 20x10 at this location. My payment ran late and rather than letting make one payment I am being forced to make 2 payments even though the second month payment isn't even past its grace period. The site manager says she cannot accept less than 2 months payments now. So I asked for a few more days to pay the 2 months and now they add $200 charge. This company makes money off the fees they force onto customers. It is a scam. The manager did say they would remove the $200 fee if I paid the two months and moved out in 24 hours. So she wanted me to pay for a month I wouldn't be there? Rude. This person does not understand her job only exists from customers. Customer service should be the goal of this company. I will start making arrangements to find another company to work with. Cubesmart does not add additional fees past the late fee. I requested for a district manager to respond and no one responds.

I picked Public Storage, this specific location, based on Yelp. We had short notice: I had 150 boxes in my brother's basement, and he needed to have his furnace replaced, and my boxes were blocking where the furnace sat. The cost is reasonable. The check in went fine. It took a bit of fiddling on the website to set up everything for my wife. That is user error and not the best user interface. The manager also kept calling me, not her, but that was due to my not having her listed as the emergency contact, due to the foregoing issue. It was all resolved soon enough. The interior common space was clean and tidy. I have no complaints.

I happened to see the manager, Michael, using a broom and dust pan to sweep around the premise. He has been the manager since the first day I started my monthly rental of my storage unit there. He has done a superb job managing the Public Storage at the 807 South Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg location.

We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

This was not an issue of "budget," but rather of expectations set by your company not being met. Customers should be able to rely on a moving service to honor the scheduled time, come prepared, and communicate honestly. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. What's more telling is that several other reviews describe the same experience I had--so this isn't an isolated issue. Instead of addressing that pattern, your assumption is that I "couldn't afford the move"... interesting.
