We had short notice: I had 150 boxes in my brother's basement, and he needed to have his furnace replaced, and my boxes were blocking where the furnace sat. The cost is reasonable. The check in went fine. It took a bit of fiddling on the website to set up everything for my wife. That is user error and not the best user interface. The manager also kept calling me, not her, but that was due to my not having her listed as the emergency contact, due to the foregoing issue. It was all resolved soon enough. The interior common space was clean and tidy. I have no complaints.

I went back to my storage unit on November 2, 2023. I found the premise to be super clean. Not a single piece of trash. I happened to see the manager, Michael, using a broom and dust pan to sweep around the premise. He has been the manager since the first day I started my monthly rental of my storage unit there. He has done a superb job managing the Public Storage at the 807 South Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg location.

We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

The local manager, James, said there was nothing he could do, no pro rated price or anything. Unbelievable. This is no less than high way robbery. They even gave us some tips on packing. While it took a few outreaches to get formally on their calendar, after that, it was all very smooth. We did all the packing ourselves, but they did offer that as a service (note: we had a couple plates break, so next time, we'll probably pay a little extra to have them pack instead). On the day of the move, three very kind, competent staff showed up. They were quick, efficient, and wrapped all our furniture so carefully. They arrived a couple days ahead of schedule to our new apartment (and called us to let us know in advance), which ended up working out beautifully. The unloading was smooth, too. They made moving from the heart of Washington, D.C. to the heart of San Francisco far easier than we could've dreamed.
