Great responsive personal service. Although this is a physically small store, from hardware standpoint you will find all the essential accessories and when you need a new CPU or laptop, they will listen to you exact needs and build to recommended specs while future proofing. As a small business owner with many computers, whenever there is an issue with equipment failure, they have always provided a fast response. read more

Dell could not fix a problem with one of their laptops even though it was sent to India for repair. They fixed it in a day. Software issue. In another case they repaired a screen. A third time they repaired a laptop case that he warped due to an overheated battery. We have used them for years. read more

So thankful that my friend recommended to check out this shop to buy my next computer. I first went to Microcenter and bought a computer that was more than I needed but a great deal. Had problems with it from day one and they were of no help. I had to fix every issue myself. I ended up returning because it became too much. Matt asked me what I wanted and my budget. He delivered on everything. Now I have a PC that meets all my work and gaming needs and paid less than I would have elsewhere unless I built it myself. Great customer service. Highly recommend checking out Platinum before you buy online or a big box store. read more

I am an IT engineer with 29 years of experience. I have been using Platimium for 15 years. They Rock. If you live or work in the Manassas, Gainesville, or Centreville area in Virginia, use Platinium. If I need something now, I use Platimium. It is a lot better than driving 15 miles to Microcenter! --Tarek Hamdy read more

These guys look out for you. Great service and value. Glad I found this place, would recommend for your computer needs.

I dropped off my desktop pc for Matt to repair because I wasn't sure if what parts were damaged due to a liquid spill. Matt was able to diagnosis the computer within a few hours, installed a new motherboard and got me back up in running in no time. read more

Competent, professional and reasonable priced. That's all that expect from anyone I do business with and these guys deliver all three. This small business could teach much bigger, more high profile businesses how to succeed at delivering a win, win relationship. read more

The best kept secret for anything computer related. These guys have everything. Need hard drives or ram? They will have it for less than if you bought it at best buy! Need a new computer? Don't buy an off the shelf one, go in and tell these guys what you want to do with it and they will build it for you! Need repair work? They will come out to your home or office! I bought my most recent computer from here and got a high end device for $600! The same computer was going to cost me $900 on Dell and $1200 at Best Buy! read more

When you walk into Platinum Micro Electronics, you'll find a few PCs set up in a corner, a counter, and mostly boxes and boxes of equipment that crowd you out. That's the front. Then there's the back which is comprised of workbenches and lots of PCs in the process of being built or repaired. They clearly spend their time working on computers and not on decorating. :) It's not much to look at but that's not why you go there. You go there to get a good quality, reliable computer for a reasonable price. I am a repeat Platinum Micro Electronics customer, dating back to at least 2000. I learned about them when my husband's employer purchased a lab full of equipment from them. I have lost count of the number of PCs I've bought from them. I recommended them to two different employers who subsequently bought several racks of Supermicro servers from them, and in all that time, we had one and only one problem the equipment. When it came time to get a laptop for my son, they helped us out with that too. Why do I keep coming back to Platinum Micro Electronics? Here's a summary; 1) They're cost effective. From the get-go, they provided me with quality, personalized service for a very fair and reasonable price. 2) They're flexible. In addition to being a computer scientist, I am a photographer and dabble in video, I need good processing power, lots of physical memory, high quality graphics, and TONS of hard disk space that can be stored offline, so I have somewhat unique needs for my PC. The staff there has always listened to me and helped me spec out a PC that meets my (admittedly) out of the norm needs. 3) They're fast. You don't have to wait weeks for custom configurations. The longest it's ever taken me to get a new PC from them was 3-4 days, and that's with ordering custom parts. 4) They're honest. They've always stood behind their work. I have almost never had any issue with any PCs I've gotten from them, but when I have, they promptly fixed the issue at no cost. Whether you need a desktop PC, a laptop, or rack mount servers, Platinum Micro Electronics can help you out. Now if I could just find a local mechanic this good... ;) read more

AWESOME! These guys work with a quiet brilliance that will become Glaringly apparent to anyone in the Business. I worked as an IT guy with them for 3 years and they saved me and mine from disaster after disaster calmly and professionally. I once watched them restore a server for a body shop so covered with dust we could not tell what color it was...they detected BY SIGHT a failed capacitor...rebooted the server, recovered the RAID drive data and backed it up and returned it to the customer WITHIN 12 hours! I've seen them quickly recover drives, restore RAIDs of ALL LEVELS. I've seen them joke and laugh while restoring a NAS that lost its operating system..AFTER the drive controller reported ALL DATA LOST! They patiently and completely explain problems as they work to resolve them under less than IDEAL circumstances. My boss once threatened to fire me if I did not return to the office with a restored hard drive...and they DELIVERED! You got special needs? You got requirements? Tired of the disinterested Mooks at Microcenter and Best Buy? Want someone OVERQUALIFIED to advise you on setting up ANY kind of server? Don't waste your time! Don't risk your job! GO! SEE MATT! read more

The 5 stars say it all they were honest helpful and one of the best computer retailers I have had the pleasure of dealing with!

I use my PC for digital audio recording, and off-the-shelf computers are not an option. I put together my last 2 from barebones kits, but this time I was overwhelmed by motherboard choices, microprocessor choices and other things. So I called Matt. He patiently listened to my requirements, what I was using it for, and made a recommendation shortly. Within a few days a carefully packed brand new computer arrived, and after testing it with my programs, I found it fit my needs perfectly. I have learned over the years that it's a better use of my time to let experts do something that I do only slightly well. Matt's price was very close to what I would have paid to build my own, but not only was it built better, I was able to spend my time recording rather than building a PC. I highly recommend calling him for any computer needs. read more

Higher-priced than other independent computer shops in the area, also their inventory floor is rather disorganized. Advantage Computer Services/Ken's Hardware is better. read more

While they are extremely friendly when they sell you a product, that attitude changes in the event you come back for assistance with it. This is somewhat surprising, given the primitive, desktop boat anchors they sell are rapidly becoming obsolete with the rise of tablets. I've encountered this rudeness more than once, and will never again return to this disorganized dump of a store. read more

Used to make great computers that I used for me personally and my whole company. Now pass off the next generation of "great gaming computers" that can't handle even the simplest of games with specs that should easily allow it. If calling they blame it on too many programs running in the background or whatever else they can think of though they have been known to have been messing up over and over again lately. Will not admit to a mistake and has messed up the last 3 PC's bought from there and charges for fixing their own mistakes, treats customers with problems like idiots irregardless of your computer knowledge and their service is slow as they do not seem to care about the problems that they believe the consumer is always responsible for. Pass it up for pretty much ANY other small computer store or even buy directly from a manufacturer, these people have stopped caring about their field. read more
