I have visited several times when the company name was still "The Eldest Geek." His business was forced to move when the building caught fire. I still use a laptop that was rebuilt when there were issues with my old one. Craig knows a lot about computers. He has a few employees who help. There doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency with finishing projects. The location isn't convenient to visit. The office seems unorganized, but repairs still get completed. Craig thinks outside the box and can solve issues that places like Best Buy could miss. read more

If you need tech repair, TopTech is the place to go. Craig (the Eldest Geek) has been extremely helpful and his confidence in his abilities is comforting during a stressful time! While I was on a trip, my camera SD card corrupted and I lost many precious memories. After calling many different places, TopTech was the best option to help me out and retrieve the data from the corrupted SD card. I cannot wait to see the pictures and truly appreciate this team! read more

Over the years I have lost count of the times Craig and staff have repaired what I was afraid was unrepairable, salvaged what I was afraid was unsalvageable. Trust them with your computer problems, you won't be disappointed. read more

Excellence repeats! Craig and his staff have once again come through with a stellar performance. When my 15 year old iMac finally became more pain than gain, I turned to Craig for help. We knew from past experience that he would have a solution and he once again came through with not only expert counsel, he had just the system I needed to actually replace two aging desktops. Within a day, he transferred all my "stuff" and sent me home with a new (to me) Mac Book Pro, a terrific machine at a most affordable price point. Personable, professional and most knowledgeable, Craig is the absolute Go To guy for any and/or all of your computer issues. read more

when you look for computer repair firms you think you will get a 30 something geek that thinks he knows it all. Well, Craig is certainly not a 30 something but he may know it all. I had reached near memory capacity on my hard drive and was getting a disturbing message when I booted up saying that I had a problem that couldn't be resolved. Craig came out, installed a program that showed that my hard drive was 81% bad. He took my computer with him, installed a new hard drive with 1TB capacity, told me that my Seagrave hard plate exterior was not a good solution and sold me a SanDisk SSD drive to replace it. He brought the computer back the same afternoon. Everything is now great: plenty of storage capacity and a backup drive that holds 2TB of data. He solved all my issues and left me very satisfied. Thanks, Craig. read more

The only computer repair place in the area I trust. Craig and Aleks are very knowledgable and their repairs are reasonably priced. Repairs are also guaranteed. Yes, the facility looks a bit disorganized, but they always find stuff. They really can solve a multitude of problems--software, hardware, drivers--you name it. Quality of the repairs is excellent. read more

TopTech was able to repair a faulty motherboard that was killing my SSDs (two died in three years!), rather than having to replace the entire machine! Only about a quarter of the original price of the laptop too. Very grateful it was repairable, even if it did take a month+, but the staff were very thorough in running tests to be sure the issues were fixed - which was how they discovered it was the motherboard in the first place. Thankfully I have a backup so I can restore my data - thanks so much TopTech! read more

The problem: my older Dell laptop had stopped receiving wifi from the router. None of the fixes I tried worked, so I just hooked up an ethernet cable to span the 3-foot distance from router to desk. However, the day arrived when I needed to take my laptop with me on a trip. Oops. My search for help brought me to TopTech (Craig, "Oldest Geek"). The reviews sounded great; my initial contact with him (email and phone) sounded like he could help me. Made an appointment to go in. I had concluded the internal wifi adapter had stopped working, and Oldest Geek concurred after testing. After being in his shop for 4 hours (a number of interruptions for other customers, etc.), he sent me home ($120 fee) with a temporary fix: several software apps installed. Shortly after returning home and before I needed to leave on the trip, wifi went out again. He installed a remote software that allowed him get back into my laptop and get wifi back again. He then explained to me how to do it myself. He promised to keep researching the problem and let me know how to permanently repair. I got back in touch several times (email and phone messages). He has yet to return my messages. The wifi still goes out about every 5-6 days, but I have learned how to use the app he installed to repair and get wifi running again. Craig seems to know his stuff, but my problem baffled him (and he said as much); but it was his lack of follow-through that was the annoyance. read more

Overall excellent service from Alex and Derick. They were able to fix my issue on the MacBook pro. I initially taken my laptop to the apple store in woodbridge and they wanted me to buy a new laptop. They both are very knowledgeable, and I highly recommend this repair shop. read more

I made a critical error when I attempted to partition my hard drive, subsequently deleting the recovery drive. Lucky for me, I stumbled across TopTech and had my issue resolved before I needed my laptop for the following day. Special thanks to Craig and his staff. Thanks, guys! read more

Craig is fun and easy to work with. Fixes my tech problems. Great service.

I had an unfortunate issue with my Dell Laptop because somehow a type of ransomware messed up the system. The bootup partitin of the hard drive was no longer being recognized which caused the system to not bootup at all. The other partitins of the hard drive were wrecked as well. Craig implemented the first solution to change out the hard drive. Thankfully he was able to recover the files from the 1st hard drive by usong a soohisticated system. He then needed to re-nstall Windows 10. Once that was done a completely different system error resilted which was identified as a TPM error. Alex performed an additional scan and analysis which took some time to find out the cause of the TPM error. In order to test he needed to re-start the system more than ten times because the same error kept rrcurring. Alex was finally able to determine the error was cuased by Dell's firmware and removing this option solved the issue. I appreciate their help with this comolex issue. read more

Brought in a very loud laptop and Craig quickly diagnosed the problem (a broken fan). He searched for and found the part online while I was there, so I knew its cost and when it would arrive. Daryl quickly repaired my laptop and I can now use it for Zoom calls without the noise disturbing everyone else! Very fair price and they even helped speed the process along when I needed the laptop for a work event. read more

Good service and reliable. Recommend them for your mobile phone or Mac repair. The people are friendly, knowledgeable and skilled.

I will be returning to Top Tech for any future computer problems and recommending their services to anyone having issues. About a month ago, I woke up one morning unable to power on my 4-5 year old laptop. Having a Geek Squad service coverage, I first took it to Best Buy to have them take a look. A costly, risky solution was offered, but I wasn't fully convinced it was the only option. After doing some research, I found Top Tech/The Eldest Geek and, impressed by reviews, decided to give them a call. I spoke with Alex, and after describing my problem and giving him my model information, he immediately gave me 3 or 4 possible issues that could be preventing my computer to start. It was evident that this guy knew his "you know what," so I took a ride out to the Top Tech offices the next day for a free diagnostic. In about 5 minutes, Alex found what the issue was and gave me an estimate, which would be for the actual work only and not a part that needed to be replaced. A few days later, he called and said it was all ready to go. The computer is now running better than before and Alex even replaced some loose screws free of charge, so it feels sturdier as well. All of this was done at a fraction of what Geek Squad was suggesting, which I'm not even sure would have worked and kept my data intact - something I stressed the importance of to Alex. Since having this repair, I have also turned to Top Tech to complete a data transfer and replace a broken screen on my brother's laptop. If you're having a problem and feel like all hope is lost, give Top Tech a call. Their services helped me to avoid a major business and personal setback. read more

Craig was super prompt in answering my email queries, and Alex and team fixed my iMac quickly -- for way less money than I'd expected. So happy I reached out to TopTech for repair instead of junking my machine and paying a fortune for a replacement. Bottom line: I highly recommend TopTech and will make them my go-to outfit for all future repairs. read more

These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button (which wouldn't turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop. They are located in Mount Vernon but don't let that scare you if you are in Arlington - they also do house calls. They provide a six-month warranty on any repair. They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs. If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that. TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems. read more

I will never take my computer to another repair shop. I had a laptop that had a lot of water spilled on it and it would not turn on. I took it to Apple and they said it would be $1000 and that I would lose all my data. It would probably also take a month to repair. I then brought the laptop to a data recovery center and they told me it was lost. I then found Craig and TopTech/Eldest Geek on Yelp. They fixed it, saved all of my data, and brought it back to life in just over a week. They are the best and very reasonably priced. Thanks guys! read more

Can't thank them enough for fixing my 2011 MBP GPU. Apple would not touch it. And tons of scammers out there wanting you to send your machine in only to find out people never get them back... went here to their store front and they turned it around in a week saving me $2000 on a new one. Running great. Thanks a ton guys! Highly recommend. I'll be back. read more

Just had my MacBook Pro repaired at Top Tech. Unfortunately because my Mac is so old, Apple could not service it. I found Top Tech shortly after and was very pleased. They put in a week's worth of service and effort in finding the issue. My mind was put at ease knowing that they would take their time to resolve the issue and not just fix the first, most expensive thing they could find and then just return it to me. The price for repair and service was SO reasonable and inexpensive. These guys really know what they're doing and I will definitely be recommending them to others in the future. read more
