Daryl Elliott (formerly of Mt. Vernon Computers) fixed my dead MacBook about 4 years ago, with a quick turnaround and at a great price. He even met me at Springfield Plaza for the drop-off, and when he drove off, I thought "I just gave my laptop to some guy off the internet in the Panda Express parking lot." No worries, because I went to his home for the pickup, and he hadn't left town with it. I've since upgraded to a Toshiba Chromebook as my primary laptop, but that 12-year-old Macbook is still alive. I called Daryl earlier this year when I was having problems with the Toshiba, and we talked over some options for bringing it in, or possibly fixing it myself. He gave me some good suggestions, and said he'd do the repair at a reasonable price if I ran into trouble. I ended up tracking down a very minor problem and taking care of it myself. I wish there were more people who are as pleasant and helpful as Daryl. I have complete confidence in him. read more

I gave dude an external hard drive full of thousands of travel photos into which he was to transfer photos from a failing thumb drive. First, apparently, he DELETED ALL OF THE PHOTOS I HAD ON THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. I hired him fix a thumb drive gone bad; lots of travel photos that I wanted to keep. I gave him an external hard drive to put recovered photos on. I already had a slew of travel photos on the external drive as well. Aside from accidentally charging more for the deposit and more for the remainder of the payment, I just realized that he deleted ALL of the photos I already had stored on my external drive. I had travel photos from Iceland, Greenland, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Italy, Greece, Colombia, Egypt, and Jordan. Gone. All gone. I'm trying to recover these files now on my own. Something I wish I did the first time. Why in the world would you just delete 10 folders holding thousands of photos? As far as I'm concerned, dude just walked into my house and set fire to all my photo albums. Worse, I have no "negatives" from which I can reprint them. Gone forever. Thanks a lot. read more

I would definitely use them again. Quality work, reasonable price, and transparent in work effort.

I should have written this a long time ago but I really like to get to know a company's track record so I can write a truly accurate review. I can't say enough good stuff about these folks. Mount Vernon Computers are the only people I trust with my family's 6 computers or my Boss's 5 computers, they are so awesome. I have used MANY computer repair services from the big companies to some other local smaller ones. I was so tired of less than adequate repairs or simply a problem that was not in the other repair services' "scope" of repairs and or wanted to upcharge me for a $1600.00 cleanroom to do the job!! When I went to Mount Vernon computers I was desperate to find someone who knew computers inside and out and took pride in their quality of work. I really lucked out finding Mount Vernon Computers. I have sent many a friend to them who would not use anyone else after using them. When I started using Mount Vernon for all our new computer setups and repairs to our existing computers it was a load off my shoulders. they do an excellent job diagnosing my computers and are quick to answer any questions and they even help me remotely when I could not take the computers to them. They have also delivered the computers I took to them back to me. It is a great feeling to get my computers back in better condition and working great. And they are quick to help remotely if any issues come up and get it fixed. They are friendly, professional, so knowledgeable and their prices are totally fair. Absolutely excellent service read more

Thank you Daryl for providing professional, friendly, an outstanding family service and for offering the best price and quickest turn around data retrieval in Alexandria, VA. Family pictures are irreplaceable and priceless memories, no one should afford to loose. Thank you Daryl for a quick, efficient and less cost effective data retrieval! Raul C. read more

If I could give more then 5 starts I would!! Mount Vernon Computers is the place to go!! I have reached out and worked with the owner Daryl Elliot several times now. He has helped with all my issues so far with my computer not only quickly but efficiently! I am not always the best with computers so it's nice to work with someone so knowledgeable who doesn't put me down for not knowing what I'm doing. I love this place, and highly recommend them! But hey, don't take my word for it... TRY THEM OUT!!! :) read more

Outstanding service! Daryl repaired my laptop in a day, plus add memory and useful programs to it. I was very impressed with his prompt repair. When I had a recent software update of my email software, I could no longer send or receive emails. I contacted Daryl at Mount Vernon Computers who fixed not only that problem remotely but also made some improvements he felt would be beneficial. He also made recommendations about other computer improvements I should consider. He was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Price was reasonable. I was thrilled to have found a quality, customer friendly service provider. read more

Daryl replaced the graphics card on my iMac back in 2016. The replacement part apparently came from China. It is 2018 and the iMac's graphics card is broken again. We looked it up and it is a faulty graphics card that Apple later recalled. So essentially Daryl charged me about $350 to replace my faulty original graphics card with the same faulty model that Apple recalled. I do not think that he knows that much about Apple computers or he would have known about the recall and purchased the right graphics card. I certainly do not feel happy about the work that was done for me. I'm down a computer again, and repairs to get the new graphics card will not be cheap. Hundreds of dollars down the drain. read more

I had a great experience with Mount Vernon Computers. I reached out via the web and Daryl was very responsive, provided a quote immediately, and took time to walk me through the problem, potential solutions, and helped me identify the best way forward. Daryl and technician Calvert were great to work with. They diagnosed problems and replaced my hard drive. I had my computer back within 48 hours--and working better than before! Highly recommend Mount Vernon Computers. I hope not to have computer troubles again, but if I do, my first call will be to Daryl and team. read more

This is the only shop that can fix anything. Pricing is super fair. Very good at troubleshooting. Spoke to 5 different shops before I found these guys that could fix a keyboard that wasn't designed to be replaced. Finding this kind of outstanding motivation and dedication to do a complex repair, at a fair price, is like finding a needle in a haystack. The norm is that the price goes up exponentially with increased skills. Daryl's son Calvert fixed it, so he gets the creds. I showed up early so I could see how I was defeated when I tried to fix it myself. These people just want to fix things. I'm very Grateful. read more

Very happy with the compan! Everytime, I have a computer issues, they diagnose and work fast to resolve any problem(s) quickl. Highly recommend!!! read more

Can't thank Daryl enough for his prompt service and helpful advice. We had a couple of old computers that we needed to recover data from and ultimately have destroyed. Daryl was quick to respond to our initial inquiry, shared regular updates with us, and charged an extremely reasonable fee for everything. Thank you again for your time and your help. Will be back again should we need any repairs in the future. read more

I am so glad I went to Daryl to get my computer back up and running. He was very responsive, reliable and professional. He was flexible with my schedule as I was going out of town shortly after dropping my computer off with him to be repaired. When I returned to pick up my computer, he went through the process that I was having a problem with prior. His price was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend him to any of my family and friends for their computer repair needs. read more

I had put off getting my laptop repaired for months. Today, it finally just broke down so I got on Yelp to find a reliable place nearby. Wow! I was certainly amazed at the friendly and honest service I received from Daryl. Thank you for fixing my computer issue immediately. You have a customer for life! Make sure you call for directions first because you might get lost like I did. :) However, your trip will be well worth it. Trust me, this guy is the best! read more

Daryl is a phenomenal resource. He is competent and professional, but very personable. He has never shamed me for my occasional (ok, frequent) ignorant questions about my software nightmares. He just patiently explains the concept and informs me of my options. He then works with blazing speed and before I know it, I am back in business. You will not be sorry if you use his services. read more

If you need computer repair, Daryl should be your top choice. He took my 7 year old laptop that could barely run any programs and when he gave it back to me, it was like a new computer. He wiped everything, making sure to save all of my files, and reinstalled Windows 10. Not only did the fix my computer up, but he did it with outstanding customer service (I felt very comfortable around him and was able to ask him any questions I needed). Also, his work on my laptop was highly efficient and timely. On top of all of this,, he did it at an affordable price!! Reallllly thankful for his services...I can tell he really knows his stuff. read more

Daryl is very professional and proficient in his service. Although he was unable to repair our PC, he did transfer all the information to an external hard drive for us. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to let him repair any computer. Thank you Daryl for a job well done! read more

My wife and I had both our computers lock up at the same time (go figure) and were desperate for help. We found Mt. Vernon Computer Repair and Daryl was able to get both of them back in service in just a couple of days. He restored mine to Window 7 after my horrible decision to upgrade to Windows 10 (DON'T DO IT!). In the process Daryl had to restore Outlook which I use for my gmail. This wasn't has easy as it should be since I use both my computer and iPhone for email. It took two phone calls with Daryl to get it working like it did previously but he was able to fix it remotely and was great about helping me after business hours to accommodate my work schedule. Both our computers are back in service and working better than they did before - thanks, Daryl! read more

Daryl received my laptop at 3:30pm on a Saturday. By 7:30pm that night he had diagnosed and had a very reasonable/fair quote ready for me. i really like how he gave me 3 options, one was to not fix the computer at all, so he certainly is not trying to make loads of money off of his customers. I am happy to say that my computer is running fast and there are no problems. :) read more

I'm not very tech savvy - I really just know enough to get myself into trouble. So having a reliable tech service is just as important as finding an honest auto mechanic. I looked aroun, and I felt that using a small local company would likely provide better service and accountability than I've come to expect from "big box" service providers. Daryl definitely delivered - he was responsive to my questions, prompt, and reasonably priced. I am satisfied and happy to have found someone I can call when my technology inevitably stymies me. read more

Daryl was great. Friendly and fast. Rates were reasonable. He retrieved my beloved itunes library and replaced my DVD drive in no time at all. Definitely recommended. read more

Darryl was very good. He was responsive and his pricing was straightforward and very reasonable. And the price is what it is; he does not up-charge or up-sell you. Plus he was nice, which is hard to find nowadays. I am definitely done with the rude computer techs at the large computer chains. I will go to Darryl for my future computer needs. read more

So happy I found out about Daryl at Mount Vernon Computer Repair through Yelp. Few things are more stressful than potentially losing all of your business and personal data. I was certain that my laptop was dead after dropping it, but he was able to put all my data on an external hard drive and fix the computer, all within 24 hours, and for an extremely reasonable price. I have used the big box stores in the past for computer repairs, but they take forever causing huge interruptions to my business,. Daryl immediately understood the critical nature of my situation, being an independent business owner, and had me up and running very quickly. read more

My experience with Daryl, was not at all, a good one. I took my laptop to him to recover and get my laptop working again, only for him to bring it back a day later, with what he said, was "a brand new hard drive." He told me that the hard drive had crashed and all my data could not be recovered. It didn't work, it was not new nor was the second hard drive he put in, when I took it back to him, again. My suspicion, had me call cox tech solutions, to check what he had put in my laptop, after having to sign into chrome, to use it. What he said was a new hard drive was a 2007 80gb hard drive. One would not believe the explanation given when I confronted him. I got my money back and ended the nightmare by taking my laptop to, Pro Computer, where all the data was recovered, from the original hard drive and put in a brand new hard drive. My laptop is like brand new. I was given my original hard drive to use as back up. I know, say it isn't so. . read more
