I'm a licensed clinical therapist. I look at reviews religiously and trust the experiences of others. I can honestly say that I don't believe many of the reviews posted for this company. Let me share my experience and the price I was charged. I contacted this company (based on the reviews) several weeks before the removal job was scheduled to be done. I needed to meet a deadline with having the home cleared. I spoke with Julius. I explained that I needed removal services and that I had several high quality furniture items still in the home. I was concerned about how expensive it may be to remove a sectional, large entertainment center, clear the garage and basement and two rooms upstairs. I explained that I would try to give the heavy items away, as I had already used movers a month earlier to relocate my things to my home at the national harbor. Julius ensured me that even if the items weren't given away, that the price would be fair. He said, constantly that " I"ll give you a fair price. I'm not trying to rip you off. You don't have to worry about that". ( side note: as a therapist, the one thing I can assure you is if any person you're doing business with constantly says this, you're about to get ripped off). Anyway, we set a date and he agreed to bring "his team" and clear the home. We met on this past Sunday. He came to the home with one other guy. I gave him a walk through. I explained that I sold the heavy furniture and that the movers for the buyers would be at the home as well. When Julius got to my home, the buyers movers were taking a load to her home and coming back for a second load. Their large truck was packed to the max ( I'll explain why this is relevant later). Anyway, after doing the walk through, I was certain that Julius and his partner were ready to clear my home. When speaking with them about pricing on the phone, Julius hold me that a full load was $625. I agreed. Julius informed me that they would start by moving the two bedroom sets first which consisted of one kiddie bed and short dresser and a queen bed and one dresser. They also moved a small dresser from My daughters room and a short dresser from my room. Several pieces to the beds were left upstairs as well as the railings to the beds. They also placed bed railings in the garage. Once they loaded the few items on the truck, Julius came to me and said he had other appts and had to come back tomorrow to do the rest. Wait..WHAT? I was speechless. He said he had 3 other jobs scheduled. I asked him how that was possible when I scheduled with him weeks ago. He stuttered and gave me no real reason besides saying he didn't want to miss out on the money. I was speechless. He then told me that he could bring a dumpster back tomorrow and that the base price was $500. He said that's minus the labor and time. I was so confused because I only wanted him to take the beds, large military trunks and lawn equipment. He tried to persuade me to let them do a full cleaning of the home that would have cost me over $2000 according to their pricing. I was disappointed and hurt because as a single mom I didn't want to feel cheated but that's exactly what was happening. Things only got worse. I went outside to look at the truck and their was so much space left on the trailer. I asked if he could please take the military trunks and lawn mowers. He declined, stating that he had other appts. He then told me that it was $360 for the beds that he moved. I was in total shock and angry. I let them follow me to the atm and paid them. I vowed to never use them again. It just so happened that the buyer asked her moving guys if they could help me. They were two Jamaican guys who were fast and awesome. They agreed to clear the entire home for me, including the garage for $150!! I paid them extra because my three level home was clear and cleaned by them in 3 hours!!!! They didn't even break a sweat!! They packed their truck to the max, cleaned my floors, the garage floor, the basement floor. I had never seen anything like it. This review is long overdue... First experience was last year. Reached out to Beltway Disposal to remove debris from my garage during ongoing remodeling. Not only did I get an immediate response from Julius, the owner, but he was able to put me on his schedule immediately, and at a time that best suited my schedule. When he arrived, I showed him what I wanted him to remove, and he got to work. I even attempted to help, and he wouldn't allow me to lift a finger, lol. He cleared everything out (even suggested I keep the copper plumbing I was planning to get rid of... $$$), and swept the garage after! A great guy he is. Have used beltway disposal a couple times and they have always been quick, courteous, and professional. This past pick up, they were in and out in less than 30 min with hauling a large dresser from my second floor, large piece of drywall, and some other miscellaneous pieces from my garage. Wow! He returned my call when I called while he was driving and couldn't answer the phone right away. He said he would come out today (it is Sunday) if we needed it. I know it had to be a bit of a drive for him to come all the way out just to remove a king bed and frame, but he came right away. Not only was this a Sunday, but he actually called me back immediately. NO other business I have called or requested quotes from online contacted me back this week. Great man, very nice, very professional, and very accommodating all the way around, even considering it was the same day, a Sunday, I failed to tell him about the frame until he was here (he took it anyway), and it was raining. 2 minutes ago The owner Julius Lastrap took payment from me for a job, but then returned later and dumped the stuff in my driveway. He has put me and my family in a financial bind. I now have to hire a second company to come and get the stuff that he brought back. He tried to get more than double the money that he originally quoted. I've never experienced anything like this before. He is not a man of integrity, he didn't think twice about embarrassing me and lying to me. I'm just grateful that I can let my bad experience be documented so that others will be able to avoid this situation. Please DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. He is the worst of the worst. Beltway Disposal did an absolute great job removing all the tree branches and shrubbery in my front yard. After doing a lot of tree and bush pruning within one weekend and carrying one load of this massive mountain of tree branches and shrubbery to the landfill myself...I knew I did not want to do it myself again. Amazing! We've had a couch in our storage unit for over 2 years, and were too lazy/daunted to look into the process of renting a moving truck and taking it to a dump or figuring out what our other options were in terms of donations/removal. I finally found Beltway Disposal this morning thanks to Yelp, and I'm so glad I did! Julius and his colleague were able to meet me and my spouse at our storage unit in Landover Hills, MD the same morning. We agreed on a time and they showed up on time, which was also nice.
