Cute neighborhood coffee shop serving teas, coffee of course, and pastries and food. I ordered a London fog, tasted great but I would have preferred it to be hotter. My husband tried golden monkey hot tea which he liked. It's a good strong black tea. We parked in the street but there is a parking lot in the back as well as outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating inside and gender neutral restrooms. I could totally work remotely here for a day! I would like to come back and order food from the menu. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to while we waited for our drinks.

Since new owners took over, Plate 21 has completely turned around. Not only are the beverages A++, but the staff, the ambience, the food! Everything has elevated dramatically. I come here at least once a week, if not multiple times. I'm the one with the soot sprite hat that orders the chocolate croissant as an afternoon treat haha. Most of all, I LOVE their assortment of pastries and baked goods from their bakery plus local specialties (like the croissants from Madeline's Patisserie and donuts from Holy Toledough). To the new owners, well done and thank you!

Wanted to get a cup of Joe from the locals and here we have it!!! Plate 21 it is!!! Just did a search for coffee in the area and this is where we landed. Love the outdoor seating and the clean look and feel to the place. Going indoors, the lime green walls give it a bright, welcoming feeling... the hard wood floors are a plus; helps to open the floor for a spacious look. Look at me being all HGTVish, you go girl!!! Anywho, I totally love the modern look and feel of the place. The staff were super duper patient, as they took time to explain and answer a few of my questions; espresso this & HOMEMADE brown sugar that. Love that the brown sugar flavor is HOMEMADE, did you catch that in the previous sentence, if not, know you did. Lol. I'd definitely return, but I'd make sure to come earlIER as they ran out is scrumptious pastries... to his credit one of the staff members open & honestly took responsibility for the lack of pastries... lol, too cute.

After my middle child passed her driver's test, we wanted to get schmancy coffees to celebrate. Skipping over the various chains, we quickly used Yelp and zeroed in on Plate 21. On entering, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff, who patiently answered all our questions. Ultimately we ordered seasonal fall space lattes and split a pistachio muffin. After a short wait, our drinks were ready, and both of us agreed that they were excellent! My daughter also commented that she really liked the aesthetic of the shop, with its crisp, clean lines and understated décor. PROS: friendly staff and great flavours CONS: a little on the pricey side Overall, I rate Plate 21 as being as being Very Good, and look forward to returning the next time we are in the area.

Well this is really cool place but they got 2 dings against because large size cup is actually a small and no real honey. But I'm testing a coffee drink, the usual, but honey syrup. A breakfast sandwich being prepared also. And it's excellent!!

The coffee I had was delicious and I also love how aesthetic the actual coffee design was. My friend got the a brown sugar latte with cashew milk and loved it a lot as well. The staff was very nice as well.

I met a friend here on my way to Cleveland and had a really nice experience! The staff was very friendly and gave me great recommendations about some of the drinks on their menu! With me telling the Barista what I liked, she made me something that I throughly enjoyed and then brought right to my table! I will definitely be back for more! read more

Right now the weather perfect to take one's coffee at one of the outdoor sidewalk tables. When it's less temperate, the ambience of the interior is simply inviting. The owner and her staff are very helpful and most welcoming, without intruding. Fair trade coffees and teas brewed to order and that certainly beat the taste of the franchise chains. The menu is a bit limited, but well-thought out and has never disappointed. Buy Local. read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Toledo! The thing that makes this coffee shop different for me is that they have a few great food options for a very reasonable price! I can get a coffee mocha and a breakfast wrap that has egg, cheese, spinach and sausage and spend approximately $10. It is always very clean and the staff is very friendly! Any time that my order has been messed up (were all human and make mistakes) they make an effort to fix it right away. read more

Inza Colombian Brew was SO good. But...I know one of my biggest pet peeves is when I go into a coffee shop that sells soup and sandwiches then I ask them for a panini at 437p and they tell me their grill is already off and they close at 7? I know if I were the owner I wouldn't be impressed by this - You're missing out on such EASY money and returning customers by you hiring lazy employees. I have an organic coffee shop at my hometown with high school students working there that do the same thing and now I simply just don't go there. read more

After exploring all the coffee that Toledo has to offer, Plate 21 is my number one choice, hence the 5 stars. The interior is spacious, vibrant, and comfortable. The bathrooms are very clean. The traffic wasn't too busy, but not too empty either. It was basically perfect. The coffee is also top-notch. They brew a few options each day, which is nice. I will be sure to try some of the food as well, but this right here is my go-to coffee shop in Toledo. Nothing compares! read more

I loved this place. I went to eat and study on a week night. I got the Medditeranean Veggie Wrap after the lady working helped me order (something vegan) and she grilled it for me too. It was so delicious. I loved the feel of the place and was great for studying until a group of high school girls came in. Can we set an age restriction for this place please? Oh and they closed at 5, which basically was a deal breaker for me. I loved this place but probably won't go back because of the hours. I will stick to Grounds for Thought in BG. They close at midnight, every night. read more

I went here on an open mic night, so it was a bit noisy for talking a lot of the time if you sat close to the front. The food is AMAZING! I wish I had more than just a bit of my husband's grilled turkey wrap with cranberry relish. I had a bagel with cream cheese and it was very good too. I enjoyed my chai tea so much that I forgot to put sugar in it and drank the whole pot anyway, it was so good! Worth a try and a nice little spot for meeting friends or listening to local music. read more

Incredible mom and pop coffee shop. Pour overs are great. Lattes are hand-crafted cups of wonder. Steel cut oats satisfy. Not sure about the food menu, as I haven't tried anything just yet. Ambiance is clean and simple. read more

Wife and I always go walking in the area and decided to stop on the way. We ordered 2 espresso at 2.00 apiece. When they came out we took a sip and we both were thoroughly disappointed. First, they were luke warm. Second the flavor was odd and bitter; almost as if they put lemon to add sourness to them. Third, espresso cups are already small and these were only half filled. I'm sorry but my first impression has not started right for the establishment that seems to be doing well. I hope the coffee is better. The wife and I will stop by to try the coffee. read more

This place is ok. I meet here with a friend. We swap from my favorite coffee shop to hers every other coffee date. The coffee and atmosphere are pretty typical. My least favorite thing about coming here is the staff. I hardly ever see smiles,small talk or even interest in the fact that I'm standing right there. I've been here several times and it's always the same. They almost seem annoyed that I'm even requesting a drink or muffin. Not friendly at all. read more

Meh. I've never come here and been wowed. Really, I'd just assume go to one of the nearby Biggbys but this place has the only consistent wi-fi nearby. My biggest complaint is that if you want a coffee, you have to get a pour over. There is no drip coffee option. I love me a good pour over, but that's a special treat. If I plan on hanging out for a couple hours and doing some work, I don't want to drop $2.75 for each cup of coffee. I also think a pour over should pick up the naturally sweet notes of the coffee without the need of sweeteners, and I've never had a pour over from here that isn't bitter and needing sugar. I'll also add the staff here is never very friendly. read more

Clean inside, courteous staff. EXCELLENT latte. The espresso is a little weak for my personal preference, but it was smooth, not too sweet, perfect microfoam. I really enjoyed probably the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. Worth a stop. read more

There isn't many, if any, places like this in the Toledo area; Fair trade, organic, healthy, and down to Earth service. The people are friendly and the place look and feels awesome. The design of the logo and interior is refreshing for a locally owned coffee place. read more

Start with the positive. Coffee is good. I had one of their pour-overs. The atmosphere is nice. Very clean. Lots of power outlets. Critiques: Service was slow and not particularly friendly. I read a review where someone said the food was organic. Not so. I got a breakfast wrap... The egg and sausage were most definitely not organic... Unless the frozen circular egg patties they use are organic. Too cool for school hipster barista didn't smile the whole time I was in there with anyone. Lots of places make good coffee... Customer service is what brings people back. I like to eat and shop local. Hopefully they tighten their game and make it a place people want to come back to. read more

I love this place! I received a latte with sugar free vanilla flavor in a clear glass-it was amazing! Perfect amount of foam, vanilla, and espresso. My friend received a cappuccino with sugar free caramel flavor in a mug smaller than mine. Hers was also very good! I forgot to mention that they do beautiful latte art! The atmosphere is nice, mostly people working on laptops. The baristas were also pretty nice. I definitely enjoyed my trip. read more

Baristas are highly trained and qualified. They brew MadCap coffee out of Grand Rapids, MI is the only brand of coffee they serve, which is fine by me because MadCap has a wide variety of both blends and single origin offerings. Very good stuff. I have been going here for many many years and have not ever been dissapointed. The best coffee shop in Toledo hands down. read more

If you are in the mood for the very best grilled cheese there is, stop in to Plate 21. The way tea is served is unique and the variety is wonderful and they serve excellent coffee. The soups and salads are unique, fresh and delicious, as well. Just as an aside, they never have any infractions with the Restaurant Inspectors. It is just big enough to hold your family or friends for lunch or a snack, but small enough to be deemed cozy. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the decor is attractive. I love Plate 21! I have been an avid customer since they opened, with a 3 year hiatus due to me not living in Toledo anymore. This place introduced me to matcha and I will be forever grateful. Stumbled into this place on a rainy day and that's when I saw the most beautiful girl in the world. Reading a book. I ordered a cuppacino and it was really great! I loved this cute coffee shop. The coffees and muffins were delicious, and it was a great place to sit in a corner and study, or to meet up with friends. Absolute best place in Toledo to get a caffeinated beverage. I enjoy the cozy atmosphere especially the servers and cool spots to sit and study. I highly recommend their soups...this last week they had Tomato Bisque and Brazilian Black Beans, both of which were excellent. My favorite drinks here are: cappuccino, espresso and starry night hot tea. I wish they were open later...but they have pretty standard hours of operation for Toledo. read more

After moving to Toledo several months ago I began to visit all of local coffee shops hoping to find one that I loved and felt at home in. After making the rounds, I have definitely settled on Plate 21. I love the bright decor, very friendly and knowledgeable baristas and, of course, the delicious coffee! I have yet to try a coffee here that I didn't love. At one point when chatting with the owner, I mentioned a type of coffee (flat white) that I learned to love in Europe but had been thus disappointed by in the US and she immediately had a barista make one for me while she explained their method of making them. It was delicious!! I can definitely recommend Plate 21 for all of your coffee wants and needs. read more

Absolutely my favorite place to stop for breakfast or lunch! The best food around town, I recommend it to all my family and friends. A great place to study (they have free wifi) or hang out with friends. I really recommend the chai tea frappe, it's to die for! Also, they have the absolute best muffins, definitely recommend everyone should try one. My personal favorites are the pistachio and butter rum! Their coffee is also delicious! read more

They upped their price to about $15, but when they did that they increased the portion size and included a drink and a bag of chips for free, so I think it's still a pretty good deal. Often they'll mix in some fries with the platter, too. As well as lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions and peppers. And they have Vernors, which you can't usually get at NYC halal trucks. So it's almost like NYC-Detroit fusion, the best of both worlds LOL! I haven't tried the rest of their menu much. I tried a lemon chicken sandwich once, and it was not on par with the ones that I've from the better delis in Harlem and The Bronx. It was kind of soggy and salty. I might try more of the subs at some point, but I really think of this as a one dish place for now, in spite of their long menu. I think it's hard to express just how happy I am to have this place a short drive from me. The cost to obtain one of my favorite foods from my home in Toledo went down from about $500 and several hours of travel (the price of a round-trip flight to LaGuardia plus one night in a hotel in Queens) down to about $15 and a 10 minute drive.
