Very cute place! A little smaller inside, but they provide sufficient seating along with an outdoor patio. Very aesthetically pleasing ambiance, pleasant service experience, adequate menu pricing from what I saw. I tried an iced matcha latte with their house made honey and ginger syrup. The matcha itself was alright, but I unfortunately could not taste the syrup. I will have to be back to try their coffee and order something from the food menu. Cute neighborhood coffee shop serving teas, coffee of course, and pastries and food. I ordered a London fog, tasted great but I would have preferred it to be hotter. My husband tried golden monkey hot tea which he liked. It's a good strong black tea. We parked in the street but there is a parking lot in the back as well as outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating inside and gender neutral restrooms. I could totally work remotely here for a day! I would like to come back and order food from the menu. Since new owners took over, Plate 21 has completely turned around. Not only are the beverages A++, but the staff, the ambience, the food! Everything has elevated dramatically. I come here at least once a week, if not multiple times. I'm the one with the soot sprite hat that orders the chocolate croissant as an afternoon treat haha. Most of all, I LOVE their assortment of pastries and baked goods from their bakery plus local specialties (like the croissants from Madeline's Patisserie and donuts from Holy Toledough). Love the outdoor seating and the clean look and feel to the place. Going indoors, the lime green walls give it a bright, welcoming feeling... the hard wood floors are a plus; helps to open the floor for a spacious look. Look at me being all HGTVish, you go girl!!! Bustling on a Sunday morning for breakfast and brunch. Great atmosphere and a lot of natural light. Nice cozy corner in the back with some games, perfect for our little family. Allowed our 4 year old room to move around and kept him entertained. Food came quicker than we expected with how busy they were! We got a vegan breakfast sandwich, vegan breakfast burrito, strawberry smoothie, matcha latte, iced coffee, and a vegan cosmic brownie. Everything was great! After my middle child passed her driver's test, we wanted to get schmancy coffees to celebrate. Skipping over the various chains, we quickly used Yelp and zeroed in on Plate 21. On entering, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff, who patiently answered all our questions. Ultimately we ordered seasonal fall space lattes and split a pistachio muffin. After a short wait, our drinks were ready, and both of us agreed that they were excellent! My daughter also commented that she really liked the aesthetic of the shop, with its crisp, clean lines and understated décor. Prices have increased significantly - $8 for a 12oz almond milk latte with a flavor. No other size is offered. Customer service also gone way down - last visit the barista stopped making my drink 3 different times to check his phone and eat a muffin. Also, this used to be a place I could bring my young kids. Recently a staff member had the word F#%K on the back of his shirt in huge letters...great family convo over breakfast. This is my favorite place to go in Toledo for tea, both for the selection and knowledge of how to brew it. My fave is Happy Tea, similar to Jasmine and really does make me happy! Plate 21 is also great for food like homemade cookies and muffins, edamame salad, and panini sandwiches. The baristas are always friendly and will go out of their way to serve their customers. I also love the atmosphere, which is bright and cheerful without being loud and overstimulating. A great coffee stop in Toledo. While Toledo seems to have exploded with craft breweries- it also has some great coffee! We stop by Plate 21 at least once a week. First, I always go for ice coffee, I recommend having it brewed and then poured over ice. Don't go for a standard ice coffee as those are super acidic. Plate 21 sells Madcap coffee which is delicious and out of Grand Rapids, MI. The other tasty drink offerings are their mochas and smoothies. I've had both and are great alternatives for those that don't like coffee. I've also had a chance to have one of the breakfast wraps, also tasty for a quick breakfast. As for dog friendliness- we've brought our Golden inside while carrying out coffee and they give us dog treats. So we'll say that it is well behaved dog friendly for those carrying out. read more

Simply put, the coffee is the best around with great espresso concoctions that are all just as tasty as the next. The roast of the espresso bean truly shines through and is not diminished by over brewing each shot that many other chain coffee shops often do. The desserts/various pastries are also well above par. The ginger snap cookies were fresh out of the oven and were some of the best that I've ever had. The contemporary furniture is a direct contrast to the antique wood floors. Surprisingly, this dynamic offers a cozy environment that is conducive to studying or meeting up with friends. It's clean, the people who are working are friendly, and they're willing to work with you on making a drink for you.
