Plate 21 came under new ownership some time ago and they added a lot of vegan options to the menu! Today I had the vegan breakfast burrito, a vegan potato and cheddar galette, and the vegan blast. The food and service was incredible! The atmosphere is cozy and full of life all at the same time! read more

This was a nice little find. I had been looking for a vegan breakfast spot for a while and this kept coming up. It is not totally vegan, however, it has real vegan options. When you walk in you go to the counter and place your order. The food is brought to your table. It gives the crunchy granola vibe when you walk in. Yet, it is still a good find. I will be back and try another vegan option. read more

This place was small and cute. You order at the front, and the servers are friendly and helpful. They have lots of vegan options, which is great and appreciated. I also appreciated the portion size! I didn't feel like I was stuffing myself like a fat burrito, so that was great. read more

Very cute place! A little smaller inside, but they provide sufficient seating along with an outdoor patio. Very aesthetically pleasing ambiance, pleasant service experience, adequate menu pricing from what I saw. I tried an iced matcha latte with their house made honey and ginger syrup. The matcha itself was alright, but I unfortunately could not taste the syrup. I will have to be back to try their coffee and order something from the food menu. Driving up to the shop/parking experience was a little confusing, but I just ended up parking down the street and walked. read more

Holy Toledo. Well, this is not in Toledo -- but close. Ambiance. My pace -- lots of light and PLANTS! Bright, open; modern decor. Very cozy. Inside and outside seating. Seemed like the coffee shop hot spot. Service. Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and happy. F & B. What we ordered were tasty, filling, and fresh. The buffalo style chips were top notch. Captions say more about everything. Of note. Street parking. Loo was clean and stocked. Overall, will come back. Nice job. read more

Cute neighborhood coffee shop serving teas, coffee of course, and pastries and food. I ordered a London fog, tasted great but I would have preferred it to be hotter. My husband tried golden monkey hot tea which he liked. It's a good strong black tea. We parked in the street but there is a parking lot in the back as well as outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating inside and gender neutral restrooms. I could totally work remotely here for a day! I would like to come back and order food from the menu. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to while we waited for our drinks. read more

Since new owners took over, Plate 21 has completely turned around. Not only are the beverages A++, but the staff, the ambience, the food! Everything has elevated dramatically. I come here at least once a week, if not multiple times. I'm the one with the soot sprite hat that orders the chocolate croissant as an afternoon treat haha. Most of all, I LOVE their assortment of pastries and baked goods from their bakery plus local specialties (like the croissants from Madeline's Patisserie and donuts from Holy Toledough). To the new owners, well done and thank you! read more

Wanted to get a cup of Joe from the locals and here we have it!!! Plate 21 it is!!! Just did a search for coffee in the area and this is where we landed. Love the outdoor seating and the clean look and feel to the place. Going indoors, the lime green walls give it a bright, welcoming feeling... the hard wood floors are a plus; helps to open the floor for a spacious look. Look at me being all HGTVish, you go girl!!! Anywho, I totally love the modern look and feel of the place. The staff were super duper patient, as they took time to explain and answer a few of my questions; espresso this & HOMEMADE brown sugar that. Love that the brown sugar flavor is HOMEMADE, did you catch that in the previous sentence, if not, know you did. Lol. I'd definitely return, but I'd make sure to come earlIER as they ran out is scrumptious pastries... to his credit one of the staff members open & honestly took responsibility for the lack of pastries... lol, too cute. read more

Bustling on a Sunday morning for breakfast and brunch. Great atmosphere and a lot of natural light. Nice cozy corner in the back with some games, perfect for our little family. Allowed our 4 year old room to move around and kept him entertained. Food came quicker than we expected with how busy they were! We got a vegan breakfast sandwich, vegan breakfast burrito, strawberry smoothie, matcha latte, iced coffee, and a vegan cosmic brownie. Everything was great! I really like the vegan breakfast sandwich, which comes on a soft everything bagel with tofu scramble, sausage patty, herbed cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. The vegan breakfast burrito had tofu scramble, sausage crumble, cheese, and beans and was grilled. It came with a great salsa and creamy sauce on the side as well as tortilla chips. We would gladly revisit! read more

After my middle child passed her driver's test, we wanted to get schmancy coffees to celebrate. Skipping over the various chains, we quickly used Yelp and zeroed in on Plate 21. On entering, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff, who patiently answered all our questions. Ultimately we ordered seasonal fall space lattes and split a pistachio muffin. After a short wait, our drinks were ready, and both of us agreed that they were excellent! My daughter also commented that she really liked the aesthetic of the shop, with its crisp, clean lines and understated décor. PROS: friendly staff and great flavours CONS: a little on the pricey side Overall, I rate Plate 21 as being as being Very Good, and look forward to returning the next time we are in the area. read more

Amazing coffee shop!! The staff is always attentive and friendly and their coffee and tea tastes amazing as well. I like all the community events they do to help raise awareness for different causes. Plenty of indoor seating with some outdoor seating both out front and in the back. They have a running group on Saturdays and a yoga group on Sundays. Try one of the chocolate chip cookies, they taste as good if not better than Chik-fil-A a cookies! read more

It's coffee... Coffee is life. But apparently life is SLOW and forgetful. I stood there like a moron waiting for my last drink (we ordered 3) before I realized they weren't making it... but they didn't forget to charge me for it. It a tad pricy for the neighborhood. The coffee itself was good, the smoothies lacked flavor. It's not a bad spot, but I won't be a regular. read more

Ordered an iced coconut latte with oat milk. $6.50, fiat competitive pricing. Nice, quiet shop with quite a few tables. Staff were nice; service was quick. Espresso was delicious, smooth, flavorful. Didn't get a change to try the food, It looked good from what i saw ! read more

Prices have increased significantly - $8 for a 12oz almond milk latte with a flavor. No other size is offered. Customer service also gone way down - last visit the barista stopped making my drink 3 different times to check his phone and eat a muffin. Also, this used to be a place I could bring my young kids. Recently a staff member had the word F#%K on the back of his shirt in huge letters...great family convo over breakfast. Sadly I won't be coming back as this used to be my favorite coffee spot in town. Reached out to the business via their social media platforms to share my feedback but no response. read more

This is my favorite place to go in Toledo for tea, both for the selection and knowledge of how to brew it. My fave is Happy Tea, similar to Jasmine and really does make me happy! Plate 21 is also great for food like homemade cookies and muffins, edamame salad, and panini sandwiches. The baristas are always friendly and will go out of their way to serve their customers. I also love the atmosphere, which is bright and cheerful without being loud and overstimulating. Finally, check out the live acoustic music on special nights when you can order local beer and kombucha. Enjoy your visit! read more

Excellent kale salad! Lots of finely chopped veggies and nuts with a light dressing. Also LOVE the whole grain croissants - I was told they come unbaked and frozen from France . (Too bad they are usually out of them by the time we stop by after golf for a late lunch.) My friends also love the three cheese panini, their vegetable soup and the café mocha. Laid back, airy and modern atmosphere. No pressure to leave when we stay awhile after lunch to catch up. read more

Some of the best chai I've ever had and the food was great, too. Friendly staff that do a great job. Highly recommend!

A great coffee stop in Toledo. While Toledo seems to have exploded with craft breweries- it also has some great coffee! We stop by Plate 21 at least once a week. First, I always go for ice coffee, I recommend having it brewed and then poured over ice. Don't go for a standard ice coffee as those are super acidic. Plate 21 sells Madcap coffee which is delicious and out of Grand Rapids, MI. The other tasty drink offerings are their mochas and smoothies. I've had both and are great alternatives for those that don't like coffee. I've also had a chance to have one of the breakfast wraps, also tasty for a quick breakfast. As for dog friendliness- we've brought our Golden inside while carrying out coffee and they give us dog treats. So we'll say that it is well behaved dog friendly for those carrying out. read more

Plate 21 is a great little coffee shop. Finally there is a coffee house that deserves praise for its uniqueness and great product that it provides. Simply put, the coffee is the best around with great espresso concoctions that are all just as tasty as the next. The roast of the espresso bean truly shines through and is not diminished by over brewing each shot that many other chain coffee shops often do. The desserts/various pastries are also well above par. The ginger snap cookies were fresh out of the oven and were some of the best that I've ever had. The contemporary furniture is a direct contrast to the antique wood floors. Surprisingly, this dynamic offers a cozy environment that is conducive to studying or meeting up with friends. I'm happy that Plate 21 is nearby and I highly recommend it to any coffee enthusiast. read more

This was my first time at plate 21, and I'm kicking myself for not getting here sooner! A lot of my friends have been coming all year, and I finally decided to try it. There was parking in the back of the store and the front, and you walk in and the atmosphere is cozy, yet modern. Lots of light was able to come through the windows, and their was plenty of room. I got a large matcha, and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and talking with the customers, and it was a great place to study. Vanilla latte. Oh my word. Super cutesy spot to get lost in your thoughts. Chai latte. Came for a couple of hours on a Monday afternoon 'til close. Nearly all the tables were full and couch area at the time taken (knitting club)? But I liked it! Clearly a lot of regulars. It helped that there were a lot of outlets all around to keep my laptop charged! And big windows to keep the light in. Great place to people-watch and find inspiration but also to get work done. Loved the indie playlist that was playing in the background. Baristas also very friendly. I definitely plan to return! There's a parking lot in the back! I didn't realize that's what the back door led to. I thought it was some secret passageway when I would observe peripherally. I was wrong. read more

I've been here a few times to study on a weekend. It's a very chic, trendy coffee house and we definitely need more of these in Toledo. What I love: THE COFFEE. A thousand times better than Biggby or Starbucks. The coffee tastes great, and if you order a latte, you'll get latte art. And I'm a sucker for latte art. I mean, who doesn't love latte art?! If you are a health nut, you must try the kale edamame salad. Even if you're not a health nut, it's delicious. I also tried the breakfast burrito once and it was just okay. What I didn't love: it's definitely on the pricier side, but I think you can tell walking in that it's not going to be cheap. The hours also aren't as flexible as some of the other lesser coffee houses. Bottom line: this is my favorite place for GOOD COFFEE in Toledo, and it's not a bad place to study if you need to get work done. Not a huge selection of food, but the salad is phenomenal. read more

I'm a fella with distant-ties to the green-logo'd corporate giant, but there is something about small coffee houses that makes me go distances to visit. Maybe it is my understanding of the malpractices of fair-trade and the tough nature of big-business, but whatever it is - small business is the way to go. Plate 21 is a place that I discovered quite sometime ago and I've been going back ever since. When you walk in, there is a local and small shop kind of feel. It's clean, the people who are working are friendly, and they're willing to work with you on making a drink for you. I like my coffee and espressos in a certain way - my coffee bold and my espressos a little on the sweeter end. The baristas who work there work with you to give you a sold cup o' joe - what more can you ask for? Sadly, like Chick-Fil-A, they are not open on Sunday. [Why is it that when you really want something - they're closed?!] Regardless, a great place to be. Do it! read more

Plate 21 - Plate 21 saving me from a rough [very] early morning lecture... - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

In an unexpectedly perfect location, Plate 21 fills a void this south Toledo neighborhood didn't even know it had. I am saved. I came here after reading a few yelp reviews. I have found a place with really good coffee that you can sit down and relax. I am basing my rating off of one review, but I always update up or down if required on places I visit multiple. I only had a cup of coffee but it was excellent. The person that waited on me explained the choices enthusiastically and genuine seemed to enjoy it and discussing coffee, she was not the typically overworked Starbucks or Other chain employees that just sees the customer as an obstacle to cleaning up. Again, based on only one visit so time will tell, but a great first impression. I went at lunch and the group of people was eclectic which I like. My impression of the environment was good, its a nice place with a modern feel. The location is south Toledo so its not in the outer suburbs, so it has a bit of an urban feel, but the place is worth a visit. We need more places like this in the Toledo area. read more
