I walked in 15 minutes before they closed. I didn't know they closed at 1pm on Saturdays. By the time I was helped, I was told they were closing, I'd have to leave and come back when they open on Monday. The absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! I will make sure I do not come back! You obviously don't want a new customer and/or business! What business is more worries about leaving at 1pm than to take care of a customer?? All I wanted to do was drop my mower off to get serviced. Looking for some chain saws and they're expensive. Specifically, I want Stihl and they sell only thru dealers that service them. Plano Power is one of those. They have been around forever and Ive driven past them for years. Now I need some help with key decisions on buying the right saws, for the job. This is a small shop. Organized but cramped and not as well lit as Richardson Saw. I was in the store looking around for about 10 minutes and never approached by an associate to help. I finally left. I came to this place looking for a mower deck belt the guy attended me and quoted me for $210-$220 didn't have options he said genuine toro belt took a week to get the part. At First use the belt broke called them they said your mower is bad, and we don't have warranty so i looked online the part number that was on the ticket. I found the same part in Amazon for $51.00 they charged me $200 for the same part I'm not complaining business is business but at least if they said genuine part has to be genuine or have competitive prices i understand a business needs to be profitable. I went to this place looking the best genuine part they sold me the same product I bought from Amazon. Be aware you might look in Amazon possibly you will save some $ for the same product they sell. Always an easy in and out at Plano Power. They have 6-8 counter guys ready to help. I just needed my mower blades sharpened, $7.50 a blade and took about 5 minutes. They have been here since the 70's. I bring my mower in for service every other year - same thing bring it in, give them a day or two and it's about $30-50 depending on what you want done. They sell and service more than I can list; if you have a question about your machine they take the time to come out and look at it. Always honest and knowledgeable. Great shop! I purchased a few items from them in the past and had no issues with those transactions.  However, it's completely a different and very disappointing experience when it comes to service and repair.  .  My last experience with the repair work they did for me was the final nail in the coffin and will certainly be the last time I do business with them.   . I took a push line trimmer in for a Carb job, which they repaired for $215.50. However, they unfortunately broke the electric motor/starter in the process and wanted to charge me an additional $238.75 to fix it.  The electric starter was working 100% when they took possession of it and it was non-functional when they returned it to me.  They refused to own up and fix it, and they wanted me to pay for what they broke.  . I would not recommend dealing with them when it comes to service and repair. read more

Have tried returning their calls twice about a pending repair on a trimmer I left with them. Hung up after being on hold for 10 minutes each time. Even tried to chat on their website but that has been fruitless as well. May have to go in person to either tell them to proceed with repair or give it back because if they can't run a phone, how can I expect them to competently fix a trimmer? I have not made a major purchase here but I do stop in for parts and to put my eyes on equipment that interests me. They carry the brands that are popular and the market is pushing. I own a Honda HRX and a Toro Time-master for my mowers and Makita MM4 gas blower, power head and several attachments. I personally find the Makita superior to any other 4 cycle lawn equipment and it fits my needs perfectly. My mowers are high end residential and are excellent for my side business( one man & fully insured). Honda and Toro are main brands that this shop sells and services as well as others. Plano P.E. has always treated me with respect and honesty. The counter is busy but they have plenty of help. They do not approach me when browsing and do the hard sell. I really appreciate this. When I have had interest and questions they have always answered them. This shop is busy so take that into consideration when reviewing. The pricing is competitive with online so depending on circumstances I may buy here. read more

I come here to get my power generator maintained on a yearly basis for tailgating but they are very friendly. The customer service is crap. The owner Brad is the one with the worst service, had no intention of having any dealings with me. He asked me what I needed and I explained, then he walked away without saying a word and no response when a salesman finally helped me, I had to explained him again, he tells me that he has to talk to the owner who makes the final decision. Who is BRAD. My question is, if he knew my case, why could not he tell me immediately, very upset with the situation I asked him why he made me wait 30 minutes if he knew what I was looking for, According to him he was very busy, doing absolutely nothing, just hanging around in the local and seeing a potential client lose. I am really annoyed by Mr. BRAD's attention and attitude. This place is a waste of time and Brad's service which is the owner of the business is the Worst of all. I had all my intentions of spending about $ 1,700 in a generator but from what I see my money is not worth in this business so I decided to leave. The customer service is terrible I just bought a lawnmower 3 three weeks ago. And I used it two times to cut my grass using the electric starter . When I was going to use it for the third time my battery was dead so I have the option to do it manually after five times I pulled the cord the motor was not running I took it in for service on April 21 and today is April 25 and they told me they're not going to get it ready until May 1. Bought a $400 echo chainsaw. Asked for a new one out the back but they just gave me the one on display with no box, no manual, and no tool (that is supposed to come with chainsaw). This chainsaw bogged down pretty bad and when I came in to get it looked at they said it would be a few days and that I couldn't return it. Maybe this was just a one off experience but it was a bad experience and I regret spending so much money with them. I've been shopping at Plano Power Equipment for over 15 years. I have always been treated very well. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. The prices of parts or equipment I need are always competitive. I recently wanted some work performed on a distributor and the technician who helped me was very patient as I explained what was wrong and was very capable of doing what needed to be done so I could get my equipment up and running again. By having Plano Power Equipment repair my distributor I was able to save over $500.00 on the purchase of a new one. I appreciate the quality of service I receive every time I call or visit in person. I've dealt with them several times now. Each time there has been a problem. 1. I bought a used Scag mower and took it to them to completely go through and fix anything wrong. When I got it back, I looked it over myself and found several things wrong including a completely corroded battery cable. I was charged a lot of money but they claimed nothing was wrong when I picked it up. I doubt they ever looked at it. 2. Shortly after getting it home, sure enough the battery cable was eaten completely through and could no longer make contact with the battery. Rather than take the mower back to them, I went to the store to pick up a new battery cable and fix it myself. A guy behind the counter handed me a 12" cable and said, "This will work". When I got home and took apart the rear guard to replace the cable, I found the old cable to be 36" long. So I had to go back again and order the right cable (hopefully). 3. When I ordered the new cable, a different guy behind the counter said it would be available in 3 days. At the end of 3 days I called to see if it was in yet. The guy I spoke with said, "Its not here yet, it takes longer than 3 days to get here". Ironically enough, it was the same guy who sold it to me to begin with. I've made multiple trips (several hours in driving time) for an issue that should have been repaired on my first trip. This is not the way you keep customers coming back. I've used Ed's Lawn Equipment in the past with good results and even though its an additional 30 minute drive, in the long run it will cost me less time and money. read more

This place is great! They have a very knowledgeable staff who have many years of experience working with landscaping equipment. They perform excellent service at a reasonable price. I think the fact that many contractors bring their equipment here for maintenance is a good indicator of the value they provide the community. I highly recommend coming here if you need help making decisions about what kind of equipment to buy or even how best to maintain equipment you already own. I very much regret all my equipment purchases at Home Depot over the years.
