We LOVE Elliott's Hardware!!! They usually have exactly what we need and their salespeople are extremely knowledgeable about hardware and very helpful! They cannot be compared to Home Depot or Lowe's. You might pay a little bit more for some things but I'm usually not going there looking for a bargain. They have an amazing selection of Big Green Egg grills and accessories. We've been able to get plumbing supplies to fix a running toilet or shower valve. Hubby has a great outdoor hat that he loves from here! Today we were looking for a bearing to fix a wheel in my 90 year old neighbor's rolater. That's one of those seats with handles that you can walk behind. Due to Medicare restrictions he can't get a new one until this one is 5 years old. Hubby brought along the old bearing and a very knowledgeable sales guy walked right up to where the hardware is and found exactly what we needed in like 2 minutes time. Lowe's or Home Depot wouldn't even carry such a thing! We highly recommend Elliott's for any general hardware needs and you are also sure to receive service with a smile. I have shopped at Elliott's Hardware since they opened the first store in Plano many years ago. Today my dad, very much a senior citizen, bought potting soil from this place. Four young men were working but were not busy; when dad asked them where to find the potting soil, they told him. No one offered to get the heavy bags for him or take them to his car. Customer service is dead at Elliott's--we will never buy anything from them again. read more

Three Stars, and ONLY because of variety of selection! The staff at this Elliot's, with the exception of the tall, long-haired man who works bulk hardware. ARE THE ABSOLUTE RUDEST, I've ever encountered!! I mean, seriously folks! Despite my best efforts to be friendly on multiple occasions shopping at this store and, spending hard-earned money here, not even a simple "hello," or "thank you," or "have a nice day" or even, a "kiss my foot!" Nothing! NADA! Zip! It's bad enough this chain doesn't honor military veterans with even the slightest discount, but to be treated as though one is being done a favor, by letting one shop in this wonderful store, well that just about grinds my gears! And, were it not for the drive to the Casa Linda, East Dallas Elliot's store, I wouldn't spend my money here any longer! Sheesh! So, if you're in the market for hardware and can't find it at boltdepot .com or one of the big box stores, you can probably find what you're looking for at this Elliot's, but by golly, I would certainly skip the "experience" if I could. It is great to see that some things in life can remain year after year, that is the service at Elliot's. We used them 50 ears ago at the Maple Ave store, and I have seen customers come in with hand full parts and employee not only could refer him to the repair parts, but hep the customer assemble it. We are moving to Plano from east Texas after many years away and my wife's walker needed a silly little lock nut. I couldn't tell what thread it was, but Nickolas promptly put it back to new. I don't know how they seem to have anything you need here but usually, they do. Today I was looking for a particular shower valve and head and it was a special order. We needed new drawer pulls for a dresser we are refinishing. The dresser is older (but not quite an antique) so the existing drawer pulls are not a standard size. We had heard about Elliott's but had never been, so we thought this would be a good opportunity to see what they have available. First, the selection of drawer pulls and knobs is outstanding! They have a great selection available in the store, and even more available for special order. Second, since we didn't have a standard size, we asked the sales associate for support. He was extremely helpful and supportive of our needs. He offered several suggestions and checked in on us a few times to make sure we were still doing okay. He also offered helpful hints for the refinishing project. We found a suitable replacement to the existing pulls. Great experience at Elliott's! read more

To be perfectly fair and honest, this is the first time I've had an unpleasant experience at Elliotts hardware. The return of the grate for the grill that did not fit was easy. No hassles. Then I went into the electrical area to pick up a few light switch covers and electrical covers. I found most of what I wanted on my own but there was a particular type of cover that I had purchased here before that wasn't where I remembered. I walked around and found 2 store associates. They were both helping a customer and it sounded like shooting the breeze. I stood there and waited for four or five minutes (was not even acknowledged, and I am not a little guy) and then went back to look for the cover again. Finally, out of frustration I interrupted and asked the two if one of them could possibly assist me. Note that for a full four or five minutes I was completely ignored. Anyway, the person was not able to find the item I was looking for and indicated that even though he remembered seeing the cover too, the person that would need to help was off today. REALLY? No other options to look in the computer or other inventory lookup? Guess we are in 1945. Left without the item(s) and had to go to one of the local big box stores (which I hate). Always prefer to support locally owned and operated businesses. PLEASE try harder ELLIOTTS so that I can return and revise this review. read more

Well my first visit in at least 10 years proved well worth the drive. I even turned into what I think was the old parking lot across the street and it moved at some point. I usually try to frequent Home Depot for hardware needs because it's close to my house. Lowes can go out of business for all I care. I needed a cabinet hinge that I could not find anywhere, in person or online. Thought "haven't been to Elliott's in SO LONG I'll give them a shot". Walked in and a very nice gentleman, Chuck, asked if I needed help. Showed him what I needed and he directed me to a counter with a pile of the hinges I needed. Apparently they are the only store that carry them and they just keep them in bulk because they sell so many. Thank goodness. Took one minute. Anyway, perused the store and I forgot how cool this store is. Lots of neat stuff and a superb collection of Traeger and Big Green Eggs for sale. Plus a ton of great lump charcoal at a great price. Lastly, wow what a selection of cabinet hardware and plumbing options. Chuck and I struck up another conversation in the grill section. Like I said, super nice guy. In fact, the other employees were very delightful as well. Glad I stopped by, saved me from hiring a cabinet company to repair my kitchen cabinets. read more

By far my favorite place! I come here for all my repair needs, even if it's out of the way. After a move and needing some basic things fixed in our house I made my list and drove the extra mileage to Elliot's. I grabbed a bag of complimentary popcorn and strolled the isles. (I do this because it's oddly calming for me and reminds me of all the times I visited the hardware store with my grandpa.) I was greeted by friendly workers as I strolled the isles. Asking if I needed assistance. I did, but wasn't admitting defeat just yet and said no. I figured if I couldn't find it I'd ask later. Turns out I needed help and I ran into Steve. He is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help. I always find what I need when I come here. I love their employees and how friendly and helpful they all are. I also love their kitschy items. Sauces, spices, pots, pans. Cook books..you name it. I'll always choose to shop here over a big box store like Home Depot or Lowe's. Based upon reviews of others and the Plano Elliott's reputation, I was looking forward to some helpful/excellent customer service in terms of assistance in choosing the 2 bathroom faucets, 3 exterior door locks, 11 interior door handles, and scads of cabinet knobs and pulls I needed. I was there to spend some money and planned to ask for help right off the bat. OMG, the 2 mature men at the cabinet hardware counter were absolutely incapable of a smile or greeting until I looked them right in the eyes and initiated the greeting myself. But before I did that, I looked at them both with a friendly smile and received absolutely nothing but 2 stony faces. If we'd had a staring contest, I would have lost because neither of these 2 men were going to return my smile or offer a greeting. After they both returned my greeting (still no pleasant smile or any degree of interest), I asked a question, and went to the back to look at the very limited in-stock inventory. I had to ask a manager a question, and then told him about my experience, and let him know I was going back home and ordering everything I needed from Amazon. He mumbled an apology, but did not bother to ask any follow-up questions. I dropped by Home Depot on the way home and was offered assistance by 3 associates in fewer than 10 minutes. I have been in the neighborhood for over 20 years and have watched the demise of the ""local" hardware store, Elliotts is next! For the last 2 years: lack of knowledge, professionalism and ambition to help here is in the toilet- they never have what you need ( terribly low stock), outages, and nobody there knows half of what they think they do- they freely tell customers " not really sure" or " maybe go to this specialty house" etc. -- just LAZY. Front of house changes weekly and everyone just working a "job", zero pride- . On a recent visit, 3 guys tried to help me - I ended up going straight to Home Depot and in five minutes, I found the part I was looking for and resolved my issue (after going back three times to Elliott). I exclaimed that I am done going back here, and my wife laughed and said You say that every time you go there-- well, Im done with lazy locals and Elliotts. This is the place you need for every nut, bolt, snap ring and obscure pluming/electrical part. Once again Elliot's saved me from buying a whole new appliance by having the right parts! In this case it's a $500 Dewalt Mitre saw. The grey haired guys (like me) that know what they are doing had a better Irwin screw extractor than Home Depot's Ryobi enabling me to get the broken bolt out and salvage a gear for the saw that Dewalt no longer makes.
