I cannot say enough about this Ace Hardware! Davis greeted us at the door, walked us over to the paint section, talk to us through various options and eventually call a specialist over. When in the gardening section the gentleman there was giving great advice, but mentioned he wished that someone else was there. He stepped away to call the person whose day off it was, who agreed with his advice, and then came back and followed up with us to ensure that we were doing the best thing for our new landscaping. We've been to this location for hardware stuff but never bought any plants here. I saw they sold tomatoes so bought a 4 pack of burpee slicing tomatoes and that was one of my best buys in a long time. The 4 plants produced more tomatoes than I can remember ever getting from only 4 (we've grown tomatoes for 35 years or so) I will definately check out other plants they carry and will buy my tomatoes from them next year. read more

I have to say this place is about customer service. Right when you walk in the door there is a helpful person greeting you and asking you can they help you with anything today. When I come to a hardware store though I am typically a browser. So I politely declined and they told me if they needed to give me any assistance to just let them know but otherwise they would leave me alone. My visit today consisted of me looking for a cord pole for my lawnmower. I was amazed to see all of the lawnmower parts that they had and happy to find that they had just the part I was looking for for the same price that I could buy it on Amazon. I happily Took the part to the register where I was greeted very warmly by the cashier. She asked me if I had ever done that type of a repair before and when I told her that I had not she told me that if I had any problems to come back up and she was sure that there was someone around that could help me. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised as you do notGet that kind of service at the big box stores. read more

I'm from out of town and am staying in south Irving. I needed a small nut and a key made. I went to the nearby Home Depot to match a nut to the machine screw I brought with me. I couldn't find what I needed, so I got help from an employee. He verified that Home Depot doesn't carry what I wanted. (Strike one.) Which is just as well, I suppose, because I would have had to buy a whole packet (strike two) instead just the one nut I needed. Lowe's is the same type of big-box store so I didn't waste my time visiting them. And having had bad keys made by Home Depot and not liking Lowe's method of making keys, uh-uh, not going down that Frustration Road again. (Strike three.) So I went on the Internet and found Ace Hardware listings. But they are clear the heck up in Farmers Branch or way the heck down in Arlington. Bummer. But I REALLY needed that nut and a new key. So I called 972-243-4329 to ask about hours and whether they thought they could help me. A real human, not an automated telephone menu voice, answered. (Base hit!) She was a most pleasant lady and assured me she would be most surprised if they did NOT have what I need. (A walk.) So I thought I'd give them a try, risking getting lost on the freeways. But I found 12895 Josey Lane easily enough, brought in my screw, looked around and couldn't find the nut section, and asked for help. The friendliest guy in the world took a look at the screw, walked right over to a nut bin in the next aisle, and picked out exactly what I needed on the first try. (Double!) The cherry on this sundae was the cost: a whole dime. (Triple!) Another clerk made me my duplicate key, though I dreaded a return trip up to Farmers Branch in case it didn't work. But while I waited, I was invited to have a free bag of popcorn. Which I did. Who does that? Talk about smart service! Back home I tried the key. It worked just as well as the original master key, no bumps, no friction, no jiggling required. Smooth as greased glass on ice. (Home freakin' run!) And no, I'm not some friend of anyone at Ace Hardware, cajoled into writing a good review. On the not-so-frequent occasion when everything works out fantastically better than expected, the people who make my life so much easier deserve a shout-out. Kudos to you, Ace Hardware! You guys are the best. When I need hardware help again, the trip will be well worth it. read more

This place is SO poorly run. Website says they have the item in stock that I want. Order placed online for curbside and get the email that it's ready for pickup. I drive 30 min there only to find out that they never had the item but picked a similar item and tried to fulfil that. the employee knew they didn't have it in stock and even asked the manager about it but they still fulfilled it even though it didn't match what I ordered period when I asked the manager why it was even fulfilled when clearly the skus don't match he just said I don't know and sorry and didn't offer to do anything to make it right. Really disappointed in the disorganization as well as the response to the manager admitting they royally messed up. read more

What an awesome store ! I am THAT female who needs all the help she can get when it comes to needing something of a fix-it nature, such as nuts, bolts, dimmer switches, pop up drain cover, etc.; going to a hardware store would be a painful experience, like being dropped into a foreign country, EXCEPT @ Turner Hardware. You walk in the door, greeted by a friendly smiling staffer asking "what can I do for you today?" I simply hand over the broken thingamajig that I need replaced, and aside from taking my hand like a child, they walk me or point me to "Aisle 14, left side, toward the back". As I wander down the aisle to find the replacement for this strange thing in my hand, there is again a nice knowledgeable intelligent gentleman who knows exactly what I need. Takes the object from my hand, goes directly to the shelf, and hands me the new item, exactly what I need. Of course, I then have to ask "how do I replace this on the switch or drain or whatever it is I need to do". MY gosh, these folks know everything and can explain in terms my non-handyman mental aptitude can understand, without making me feel like a complete imbecile. Turner, I LUV you !! You have saved my life so many times, Yes, I know I am paying more for your help, than at Home Depot or Lowe's, but your service is worth ten times the amount, not to mention the time saved over wandering for hours through those large warehouses, just praying to find someone lurking in a corner in their orange or blue vests to ask for help. Turner Hardware has been around for many moons, in a strip center where businesses have come and gone, but they remain, supported by the community because of not only a place "where you can find anything", but because of their outstanding customer service. KUDOS to this locally owned business. NEVER go away, please !! On a sidenote. Turner's will also provide a list of contractors, handymen, etc if you are in need of some professional help. The first thing you see when you enter this strip mall store is a sign that reads "Welcome to Turner's, A Real Hardware Store." If you are 35 years or older, you'll know exactly what that means. Before the days of Lowes and Home Depot there were real hardware stores. They weren't warehouses but privately owned mom and pop type stores that handled everything from keychains to toys. If you needed a screw, they had it. If you needed a washer, they had it. If you needed a pocket knife, they had about 100 to choose from. As far as I can tell, this type of store still exists at Valley View and Josey Lane in Carrolton. While in the store I was approached three different times by men not in uniforms but shirts, dockers and ties, and they were serious about their hardware. And why was I there? Charley's Guitars recommended that I try them for the thumbscrews on the tailpiece of my 5 string banjo. It seems that's where they get hard to find hardware for guitars and amps. Shop this store. They really need to stay in business. And oh yes. Did Turners have my banjo parts? Foggy Mountain Breakdown never rocked this good. read more

This is a traditional hardware store like there used to be in every town when I was a kid (before the big box hardware stores came to town). They have absolutely everything here! I was shopping for a magnet in the shape of Texas. You'd think it would be easy to find, but it wasn't. I went to several other stores and finally found what I wanted here. The employees are so friendly and greet you when you come in the door. They are also very willing to help you find what you're looking for. The one down side was the pricing. I paid much more for something I could have bought elsewhere for 1/3 the price. I was disappointed, but too lazy to go elsewhere to buy it :-) read more

Not only has Turner Hardware managed to compete in the local market place, they continue to do it well!!! Not many people these days understand what it is like growing up with a "true" hardware store that serves your community. At Turner Hardware you are always you greated by familiar faces when you enter and exit the store; some the same for 20+ years. Also they are truly interested in helping you find what you are actually looking for as well as lending advice based on their experience... They always have hard to find stuff and even though it may be priced slightly higher; I'm always glad to pay it as I know they will have whatever it is I am looking for the next time I am there!!! Turner Hardware is like hardware stores were when I was a little kid, before giants like Home Depot and Lowe's came on the scene. They have a little of everything, including unusual gifts and toys. I'm in the process of updating a mid-century house, and Turner's has been VITAL in supplying me with items I have needed. In one case they didn't have a plumbing part but directed me to a plumbing supply place nearby where I found what I needed. Amazing service. I also love how the same people have worked there for years. They recognize you when you walk in and are pleasant, helpful and really knowledgeable. So take the kids, park them in front of the wall of model horses and dinosaurs, and take a walk through Turner Hardware. You're sure to see something cool you'll just HAVE to have! Prices might be a little higher, but it's worth it and you will get individual, fast service. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because that's reserved for Elliotts. We could walk in and get what we wanted because we knew the store or the area to ask someone. People cared and were willing to assist even if it meant going elsewhere to get what you need. The stock of wood metal and plastic was better than any one store I have ever found. I felt like I was with family talking and asking questions. If you kept the inventory you could have made quite a profit. Finally it took many man hours to disarrange a fully functional store. I hate going in there, it reminds me that I am old and that no one much cares anymore. There is no place for old men. read more

I'm a plumber and I always use Turner as my first and last option meaning that if they don't have the parts I'm looking for, most likely nobody is gonna have it. I was looking for a polish brass angle stop 1/4 turn valve and supply line. I check first this traditional hardware stores that they been here in Dallas for a while, NOBODY had the parts in stock because nobody sells the gold color anymore. I've been around the metroplex for a long time so pretty much I checked my other sources...to make the story short I got the first offer to get me this valve, YES THE TINY ONE UNDER THE SIDE OF THE TOILET TO SHUT THE WATER OFF in gold color for $250.00, other places $150.00 plus taxes and finally CARLOS in the plumbing department, ordered the part for less than $30.00 . He is very knowledgeable and professional . IF YOU WANT TO KILL SOME TIME JUST CHECK THIS STORE THEY HAVE STUFF THAT YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE EXIST. I DO IT ALL THE TIME HE,HE!! read more

To go into a hardware store and have someone actually help you find something is almost like going back in time. My kids don't remember going to a small town and visiting all the locally owned businesses that thrived in the pre-WalMart era. Turner Hardware, this store's predecessor, was that kind of place, everyone in the place knew my dad by name. It's not quite that but I don't go to the hardware store as much as Dad did. It does feel like some of the old-timers hung around so it's probably as close as you can get these days. read more

This place is fantastic and stocks items that you can't find anywhere else. The closest thing to an old fashioned hardware store that I know of. From canning jars to grill parts or how about a pot belly stove! They even have a kids section with things like model horses and cars. It is worth a visit just to look around at all the cool stuff. Great personal service you just don't get in a big chain store. Some items cost a bit more than a chain store but it is well worth it! As a matter of fact, you may well end up saving money as I have seen them direct people to a dollar part when they were looking at a more expensive multi-part kit. I hope this great hardware store can stay in business in this day of save a penny chain stores. read more
