Came in and immediately asked a staffer what I was looking for. Was directed precisely to where I needed to be. This purchase should've lasted 30-45s tops. Was asked to provide a lot of personal information at the register. Got impression that's how I would get my receipt but apparently it was just so I could get spammed constantly. Didn't appreciate that. read more

Harbor Freight is a candy store for guys. Yes, the stuff is cheaper. Cheaper to buy and cheaper as in lower quality. We all know it. For the most part, it's like a Bic lighter. Made to be thrown away. Some things, though, should not be reordered and shelved. Plastic furniture clamps are in that category. The ones that you squeeze the big trigger to tighten. After a few squeezes, some little internal part gives up and the clamp doesn't have enough grip to hold itself up. Then, you get a stink eye when you return it. Yesterday, I bought a rotary tool kit. Definitely not a dremel tool. Smaller and much less power. Cheaper to buy, about 10 bucks, with a load of bits and things. The tool has a chuck to hold spinning bits and a button that locks the motor so you can tighten the chuck. You wouldn't want the spinning bit to come out. Anyway, the button that locks the motor didn't work. Unfortunately, the rotary tool set came in one of those clear, hard plastic packages that is sealed around the edges and you have to wear lots of PPE when you open it so there are no serious injuries. The result is a package that has to be stapled back together for a return trip to th store. This did not look pretty. Sorry, but I didn't take a picture of it but a have a sceenshot of the online listing. Darien, at Harbor Freight, is a nice guy. Friendly. He asked me if something was wrong with it. I explained the problem and he issued my refund. Thanks for taking care of that. Now that I've looked at my return receipt, I see that the reason for the return is "restock". I ope that somebody decides that this item shouldn't be sold to someone else. Just to be on the safe side, if you happen to go to this Harbor Freight store, looking for a cheap rotary tool, don't pick the one with a plastic package that's been stapled together. read more

I went to the store to purchase casters on Tuesday. William was manning the register and was engaged in conversation with 2 other employees as I approached. He then included me in the conversation. He did not provide a sales receipt which I thought a little unusual but he had requested my phone number so I wrongfully assumed they tracked transactions via your phone. Returned to the store today (Friday). William was again at the register. I said I wanted to return the items purchased on Tuesday. He asked for the receipt that he did not provide.... When I told him he didn't give me a receipt he relied.... "Oh no, I give everyone a receipt " .... Perhaps if William spent a little more time concentrating on his job and a little less time engaging in banter with fellow employees Harbor Freight would not have lost a customer for life ...... read more

I was needing some tarps so decided to stop in here to see what they had. The employee I talked with was helpful and got me to the wall where they were located. They have lots of choices at reasonable prices. Looked like 3-4 different thicknesses. Unpon checking out their card reader wouldnt read my card, he said & these machines don't have the swipe feature. I knew nothing was wrong with card he then said this happens alot. I was embarrassed and the line was getting long behind me, after about 4/5 tries it accepted it. Next time I may take cash since he implied this is a normal. problem. read more

I have to admit that I had never even heard of Harbor Freight Tools until last weekend. Since the pandemic, my husband has picked up woodworking as a hobby. For any tools, we normally head over the Home Depot. I will definitely consider this store over HD now. It is located in a sad plaza but don't let that deter you. The prices are SO much cheaper! Yes, it is a small store but they offer a wide variety of auto, gardening and wood working items. My husband was searching for a dust bag for the saw. The employee was very nice to help us locate where it is shelved. Unfortunately, they were out but she went out of her way to search another of their stores for ones that had it in stock. This is a secret gem of a store! So much nicer employees, too! read more

All the right tools in one spot! I could spend an hour just looking around each isle and daydreaming about all the projects that I would love to do! I can't avoid the sales tables without thinking about "I really NEED this" I just can't believe all the great prices that are already available even without any coupons. The store is clean , organized, and well lit. The staff is friendly and attentive! I am thankful for the help and also thankful that they just wander around the isle drooling about the perfect workshop and crafting areas in my brain. I can look forward to each week having the next cool sales and adding to my wish list. There are so many ways to get the tools to work SMARTER and not harder! I love the proper equipment for the promise of a great completion of a project. And this trip tool boxes were on sale!!! Harbor Freight is a great resource for affordable tools and supplies like nitrile gloves that get the job done without breaking the bank. So far all the tools I have bought from here have served me well. I've gotten tools for working on my car, fixing things around my house, and the nitrile gloves. I buy them in bulk! The folks who work here are helpful, know where to find whatever I'm looking for. Pro-tip: there's always some sale, or coupon special. Everything is super cheap when compared to Home Depot or Lowes and as long as you understand that most everything here is not made in the USA and may break eventually, you'll be fine. I've honestly never had any serious problems and I've been shopping here for years. Always look for 20% off coupons in your mail as well as free item coupons for items like flashlights, screw driver sets and tape measures. This place is great for so many things. Even though it's not all made in America, that doesn't mean that it is all sub par quality. In fact, a good amount of the products are just as fine as you'd get at the big box stores. Go check it out, bring a coupon, I promise you'll leave with something you didn't know you needed/wanted. read more

Wow! Rachael, 60yo cashier with the rhinestone jeans, was so rude! First, she acted like doing a price match was illegal, when the only reason I did it was because the manager advised me to do so. She tired to say price matched are not applicable on promotional items...thankfully her supervisor corrected her right away. She wouldn't let me speak to explain what I needed to get refunded on, quickly and assumed My new purchase was my return. Causing undue confusion. She visibly rolled her eyes and audibly sighed because I guess I was making her do her job?! So Ms. Rachel....ma'am....if you hate your job, or if providing decent customer service is a problem, maybe find a job that you can do with a smile on your face. Because doing a price Match is part of your job and being a decent person should be also. Next time, I'll take my business to a place where the employees actually treat people with respect and decency. read more

This is the only Harbor Freight store I have ever been to, so I have no others to compare it to, but this store is great! The staff is always friendly, helpful, and the store is always clean with stock where it is suppose to be. Prices are very reasonable, and they send me coupons in the mail that offer even greater discounts. Most products are of a comparable quality to national brands, if not exceeding them, yet priced far more competitively. I must admit that some items are cheaper because they are probably imported, and are of a lesser quality, but for the most part, they are mostly disposable products that you wouldn't really demand much more. Whenever I need a tool in the middle of a project that I don't want to spend a great deal of money on, I'm headed to Harbor Freight. Great store, Great staff! read more

I was greeted with a "8 mins and close" As I ran from Arlington to buy a generator for my mom and her friend that came to visit me in Dallas with the goal of buying a new generator so they can have some form of sustainability after the hurricane that hit them in Puerto Rico. We found the generator and they guy told us that we can't take it on the plane...turns out you can....but since they were closing we had no chance of making sure...as we were trying to call American Airlines to double check that information they kicked us out.....and the same person who said "8 mins before closing" (girl with red hair) was looking at us LIVID! I just wish my mom and her friend were treated with a bit more mercy after having lost so much with the hurricane...very sad....and disappointed because this store did not represent the TEXAS heart of compassion. read more

There are more tools here than I have a need for but whenever I'm in the middle of a home project or need just a roll of duct tape, I head to Harbor Tools. Being of the fairer sex, I don't always know the difference between a miter saw and 3\4 in. sockets so I appreciate the assistance from their fairly knowledgable associates. However, the check-out staff is another matter. These ladies are always too busy chatting and gossiping and tend to ignore the stares of customers waiting to be rung up. And don't ask them questions about anything because they never have a clue and can get snippy and rude about what aisle a certain item is as if the customer should automatically know. Do sign up on their company website for coupons and mailers. They usually have handy little giveaways, like compact flashlights and work gloves. You can never have enough of those! read more

I'm posting the same review for the two locations I shop at because it applies to both. Harbor Freight is a US Company that offers tools (hand tools and power tools alike) at a very affordable price. Admittedly, this is done by importing products primary from China but some stuff comes from other parts of the world. Many of the tools bear US sounding names like Pittsburgh, Chicago, US General, etc. But these are not actual companies and are just the brand that HF slaps on their products. If you know how to shop at HF properly then its a great store otherwise you'll be very frustrated with it. Basically if your life or income depends on it; don't buy from here. You're fairly safe buying their hand tools with lifetime warranty as you can take them back and replace them no questions asked. Also, many power tools carry a very short (30 day) warranty so only buy what you plan to use in case it breaks the first use. Also on power tools I never buy their lowest price. Typically, they'll have bushings which will wear out quickly. The "higher end" models will have ball bearings and should last a long time. Lastly, these tools don't have parts kits you can buy so once it bellies up you'll be buying a new one. However, if you use a tool enough to break it or wear it out... probably time to spend some $$$ on a more professional quality tool. If you sign up for their emails you can get coupons which offer many of their good products for silly prices. Example, their $30 torque wrench for $13. Their non-durables are also a good buy. Non-durables being saw blades, grinder wheels... IE anything that is an accessory for power tools. Sometimes (but I've had good luck) an item won't work right and you'll need to return it for a working one...this is more common on the very very cheap power tools, etc. But again, for the price I don't think you can complain too much. read more

They have everything. They do not carry Name Brands and therefore do not charge Name Brand prices. It is pretty much you scout around, find what you are looking for, and bring it up front. At some of their prices, if you lose or break it, if stops working you cannot get too awful upset because you paid for what you got. read more

Overall five star! The tools are kind of chintzy however the prices are rock-bottom. Great selection and prices you can't beat.

Store would be a lot better if you could actually get some customer service and the staff working weren't rude. With a Lowe's and an Ace hardware within a few minutes of this store, I will not be returning. read more

My bf took me here because I wanted a power drill. He thinks they have better prices than Home Depot & Lowe's. Selection was decent, with a good ranges in prices. Browsed the store to see what else they got. Flashlights, power tools, tool boxes, saws, etc. Hmm...might consider this place for my next home improvement projects! HA. I have shopped at Harbor Freight for years and very please with everything I have purchased and the friendly staff at the Richardson, TX location especially. Make sure you always buy the ESP (Extended Service Program) on any item that merits it for sure. If you use the program to its full potential you can buy a high dollar item or even a $30 item and be protected for life on the item if anything at all happens. You should also join the ITC club (Inside Track Club), I have saved up to 83% on items being a member of this club at a cost of only $19.99 a year. I save the 20 bucks on my first purchase and $1000's of the years. You need to use these two programs to your advantage and you will be a happy camper. If you visit the Richardson, TX store ask for the guy Jessie, he is very knowledgeable and friendly! read more

Great prices great kits but the cashier was rude and dry. Nancy was her name, very bland and no sense of humor. We tried being nice and she stared at us blankly or wouldn't make eye contact. Bummer that people don't realize that even being a cashier makes a big difference on how we view their store.. customer service is important people. read more

Yay! Who doesn't love those free product coupons?! Of course I could use another cheap crappy LED flashlight! :-) It's really difficult to find specific coupon products, we walked around the entire store a few times looking for an anti-fatigue mat. Finally, we tracked down an employee that showed us where it was located, it ended up being a cheap kinda crappy looking mat (figures...), didn't end up picking it up. The cashiers were ridiculously slow, maybe it was just the customer in front of me trying to carry on a conversation while paying with exact change but it made me feel excruciatingly impatient. Definitely the place to go if you want to build a DIY emergency kit for cheap though. read more

They continue to sell the worst nail guns in the history of carpentry, even though they know they are terrible products. A cashier even hinted at how unreliable they were as I was buying one--they are very cheap. It's unethical for a store to sell crap when they know its crap. read more

I shop Harbor Freight quite a bit. I purchased a work bench Drill Press, then proceeded to lose the Chuck key. Guess what? They do not carry a replacement key for their Drill Press. Nor will their home office supply you with the name of their manufacturers so you can buy one from there. Also, the Chuck is a non-standard size, so other keys will not work. The headquarters suggested I purchase a complete chuck, which cost more than the entire drill press cost in the first place. Thanks Harbor Freight.....for nothing. read more
