I have been shopping at Jabo Ace Hardware in Coppell for over 30 years, so I have a long-standing appreciation for this store and the people who work there. Today, that appreciation grew even more! I reached out to Jabo's on behalf of Reach Out Honduras as we were gathering donations for our annual fundraiser and Jabo's Ace Hardware was very generous in supporting our event. We are so grateful for their willingness to support a cause that is helping provide educational opportunities and a brighter future for vulnerable children in Honduras. The manager I worked with, Mr. Spalding, was kind, gracious, and genuinely happy to help! As an extra-special surprise, we discovered that he was actually a former Mockingbird Elementary student where I taught years ago! What a fun connection and such a small world! I'll never shop there again. Over a decision as simple as making a key. They are now prioritizing making 4-5$ over taking care of local people. I have shopped there for 12 years, perhaps 2-300$ a year. I brought in a blank key I had purchased many years ago and asked them to make a copy of my house key. They told me I had to buy a new blank or they couldn't do it. People shop at places like Jabos to get the service you can't get at the box stores. The young man couldn't figure out how to operate the machine and wouldn't admit it. Then he got a lady who gave me the "you have to buy from us" routine. Neither were friendly. Then the manager finally came and gave me the same routine. Finally I asked him if he was going to be able to help me. I asked the question in a way that got to the point and made him decide. He stammered around and never did answer. At that point I did say "shit" to which he got immensely offended and started pointing his finger at me. "The new machine won't let us". Surely there is an override and in the rare event that there isn't, I hope the owner takes note. Needless to say, but I won't be returning to the local small business because of two things. Poor attitude and poor service. As the manager of a small store, you have to make big decisions. they made me feel as though I was at one of the big box stores. The sad thing is that I shop there because I had come to enjoy and expect the service, in a world that service is hard to find. Before you judge me, let me ask you. I needed tools for an errand. When I entered, I initially had difficulty finding someone who could assist me. Finally, I found the full-time employee. With his helpful guidance, he changed my approach on how I would complete the errand and helped gather the necessary hardware. I went inside Jabo's Ace Hardware asking kindly for business card and to meet the manager for purpose of buying materials and equipment for my business. I was respectful, I was yelling or saying anything inappropriate. I tried to shake the manager hand -refused. I never have had a negative experience doing business with ace hardware since I was 12 years old in 1996 til now. The Service was toxic and Gate Keeping disrespectful. The Value has been there with Ace Hardware, if you are a home owner or a contractor Most Ace Hardware will meet your needs. The Selection is always god as well. The Value is legendary in the construction world. I just don't understand why that GM feels he needs to cherry pick what contractors to do business with and who he personally doesn't like. I am an Iraq War Veteran. I feel it's in my best interest to tell all landscaping and Construction contractor to use other Ace Hardware Businesses instead of that Location. This might sound crazy but I had never been inside an Ace before! We never had one close by until we moved. I love it here! It's awesome to be able to get hardware in such a small, more "local" feeling place. I love the vibe. Everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. They are regularly asking you if they may assist you. I'm done with other hardware stores. This place is great. Reminds me of going to our cool hometown hardware store named "Elliot's Hardware" with dad when I was a kid (it got replaced with a tacky Frost Bank...ugh). Another cool fact: they do glass cutting here, too! Not all locations offer this (as far as I know). Good to keep in mind. To be honest, I never thought I would be shopping at an Ace store. But we bought a house that we're doing stuff to so here I am. I acted like I knew what I was doing when I first got there and strolled directly to the wrong aisle. An employee helped me out, showing me the correct aisle and then when I still couldn't find it he came over, located it and placed what I needed directly in my hand. I definitely appreciated it. I had the misconception it was going to be a boring store with a bunch of hammers hanging all over the place but it's like a small Lowe's with all kinds of stuff and helpful employees. This is the place to shop! Everyone is so warm and welcoming. I didn't know this but Jabo's is a family owned business and the difference can be felt throughout the store. This year, I joined a Christmas Lights business. Michael and the knowledgeable team at Jabo's have helped me tremendously! I was new to the light business but needed to acquire the necessary materials to work with; as stores like Lowe's and Home Depot quickly sell out of light bulbs, spool and so forth. Jabo's is like "Christmad Lights Central." Anything needed, imagined or even thought of can be found in the isles. I'm supremely thankful for all the positive experiences, for the efficiency of being able to call or text ahead orders and have them ready for pickup. I love this place! read more

Customer service used to fantastic here. Not so the last couple of years. Today while I was at the register the cashier said "wow my coworkers are really pissing me off". The reason for this was 2 people asking if anyone was in the paint department and a very long line of people waiting to check out. This is pretty systemic of the last couple of years where there is never any sign of management in the store. Used to that every time I went in the employees would say hello and ask if I needed anything. No one has greeted me or asked if I need any help in a long time. The location is convenient and they seem to carry the small things I need for home repairs or gardening projects though a bit more expensive than the big box stores but I don't mind in exchange for the convenience and the employees are nice. My main annoyance here is that every time I come they seem to have people outside soliciting donations. At first I was like "cool, they're helping the community" but now it feels like it's every time, some are pushier than others and it's starting to feel like a shakedown every time I just want to buy some potting soil or something and get in and out with as minimal contact as possible. When one buys a bag of insecticide, and it turns out to be caked and growing mold, the store ought to exchange it or refund the money. The manager said the insecticide was usable and I just needed to break the caked crap and use it. So much for customer service. It is definitely not this store's hallmark. I was looking for an item and Ace carries it so I called and talked to a staff at Jabo's Ace (closest location from me, 15 minutes away). He said they don't have it in stock but if I order it today, I can pick it up the next day at their store. So I ordered the item that day (Wednesday) but per the order information, it won't arrive until Sunday. No big deal as I wasn't in a hurry to get it but that staff should still give me more accurate information. Saturday comes along so figured I check the status of the order and it showed that it was "canceled" and no one notify me about it. Little confused so I called Jabo's Ace to see if they know what's going on since the item is being sent there. The young lady I spoke to ("Jenna" or "Jenai"?) asked me for the item number so I gave it to her. Then she said someone from the back of the store just informed her that it already arrived so I drove there to pick it up. When I arrived it was the wrong item with a different item number so the other staff that gave "Jenna" the wrong information probably didn't even bother to verify the item number and thus, wasted my time and gas driving there. While at the store, they also informed me that the item is coming from "Arkansas" and there has been a "delay". Another staff, an older gentle man said that if I order again in the store, it'll arrive on "Wednesday" so I ordered the same item again and he gave me the order form to take it to the register to pay for. It's one of those older type hand written order pad that has a copy for the store and a copy for the customer. Then I paid for it and left the store. Fast forward to Wednesday, I didn't hear from Jabo's Ace so I called them. A young man picked up the phone and check their system and didn't see the item. Then he said, the Managers are in a meeting but will let them know so they can check it and give me a call back. I waited all day and no call back so I checked with another Ace store that's a little further (Westlake Ace) and they have it in stock so I drove there and bought it. The next day I stopped my Jabo's Ace and did a return. Overall, the staff are nice but the inaccurate information given, not being able to keep their words such as not calling me back, and lack of communication is a turn off so I don't plan to shop there again in the future. This is the cleanest, most organized, and awesome hardware store on earth! They stock everything from paint to plants, wind-chimes to wall anchors, candles to crazy-glue, and decor to demolition equipment. The staff were approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful. Not only did they ensure I found exactly what I needed, I overheard them going above and beyond for a phone customer. The location is convenient with great parking. Their product selection ranges from economical to top-of-the-line for every category. They even have an incredible gifts section full of unique, useful, and original items. I can hardly believe that I'm looking forward to my next visit to a hardware store, but I'm excited to come back! Thank you, especially, to the young lady at the front counter (she had several bracelets on, but I don't remember her name) who helped me with the color of an item I was looking at. We seem to find ourselves at our local Coppell ACE hardware every few months for various garden/paint and home improvement needs. I wanted to write to express my gratitude for the fantastic customer service I received this evening from the gentleman working the tool rental area, and from his manager. I was returning a garden tiller my son had rented to finish a project he'd started to re-sod our backyard as my mother's day gift. My son rented the tiller -- and between his HS finals today and having to work tonight -- he asked me to return it for him. It was dirty, may have had a broken wheel, and it was returned late. I just experienced horrible customer service at the Ace Hardware in Coppell Texas on Denton Tap. I went there to get a mower blade sharpened and the associate that I was talking to couldn't help me but he was doing the best he could. He then asked a more seasoned associate for assistance and the older male was rude and abrupt. This is my first time going to Ace to have a blade sharpened so I had no idea what to expect. I asked for clarification on the process of when the blade would be available and the second associate became even more rude. I was so upset by the experience that I decided to take my blade and went to Home Depot and purchased a new blade, hedge trimmer and other items which I had intended on purchasing at Ace. I usually try to stay loyal to Ace because it is the closet thing to your small neighborhood hardware store. There customer service is USUALLY EXCEPTIONAL and to me, this is worth paying extra for the products I buy compared to the big box hardware stores. Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this store because this person is employed there. I will not spend my money where I am made to feel like a bother. read more

Good store for the local community to provide for hardware and other household needs. Prices are not competitive with other hardware stores. I don't expect the prices to be competitive with big box stores. However when prices are twice that of big box then I think the pricing is inappropriate. Had a recent experience where I wanted to purchase an item on a flyer mailed to my house. When I went to the store to find the item I found they don't even carry it. It would be better for the store's reputation to have the items that they advertise in their fliers. Sometimes the customer service is not as good as it could be. I was a customer for 9 years, I always wanted to spend my money locally and support stores in my community, but that's changed now thanks to the employee ZAK from Coppell 's Ace Hardware. Within the last few months I had my Lexus keys cut at this store once for $25 and then after that another time for $20. but the employee ZAK wanted $60 this time so I don't know if it was greed or if he just didn't like my face.
