BECAUSE ITS BETTER. Now after a couple decades of going to the big stores and shockingly ending up at Ace for what I need .. I now start at Ace .. and go somewhere else if needed. They just have more of the precise things I'm looking for and most often they greet me when I walk through the door .. McGyver!! Yes because the salespeople recognize me ... they don't have 100 full time employees and 200 part time employees... they do generally have the same knowledgeable folks that I see each time I come in. .... I've always wondered why people go into those big impersonal mega stores when they're Ace Hardware in most neighborhoods.

They produced more tomatoes than I can remember getting from 4 plants (and we've been growing tomatoes for 35 years here in Carrollton) I will definately check out other plants from this location.

One where you can actually ask for advice on a project you are working on and deepen your perspective on the project. THAT is Ace Westlake. I came here today and really enjoyed my visit and discussing my project with them. They really did add the perspective I reference and that has me taking a step back before moving forward, just to make sure the direction I move is the way I want to go! While there for my project I noticed some "Managers Special'" shelves and yes, I bought a few things I probably don't even need, because the price was so good!

It took us one month to get the dishwasher delivered and installed. That was unacceptable. Because of that poor experience, we chose Home Depot. On the 20th of April, Rick sold us a LG, dual ice maker, 4 door refrigerator. It was delivered and installed on 4/22/26 at 9:30 AM. Our old one was taken away. From the salesman to the delivery and installation guys, it was an stress-free and pleasant experience.

Placed online order for pickup of mulch etc. two hours later received email & text notifications order was ready for curbside pickup. Upon arrival an hour after I was notified, I followed online instructions to notify them to load my order. 20 minutes later and watching multiple employees just walk by and look at me then go back to playing on their phones, I went in to customer service. Three ladies working at desk. Only one customer being served in front of me in line. The other two saw me but never greeted me or asked to help. Ten minutes later, it's my turn and I tell them I've been waiting in pickup for 20 mins. The lady looks at her machine and says "sorry. I don't know why I didn't see this". She walks around confused and asked other ladies for help and comes back to tell me to go to Garden center and show them a barcode she handed me. I pull around to the Garden center where they told me and nobody was there. No order in sight. I walked in to the young girl at register (who was recording selfies) and explained my situation and asked where I needed to go. For 10mins she struggled on the computer, her cell phone and even my cell phone. A long line formed where other customers were badgering me because I was waiting on the girl. She looked at me after 15 mins and said "none of my stuff is working and I can't call anyone. G to customer service" where I just was. At this point, after an hour struggling to pick up and online curbside order, I walked back to customer service and ask for a simple refund. After struggling at register for 10 more minutes, they tell me the system is down and can't process a refund. I asked for the store manager several times. After 15 more minutes, not a single manager appeared or responded. Several employees attempted to help but none of them knew what to do and seemed to be annoyed with me and my issues. After almost 1.5 hours, I gave up and told them to load my order so I could leave. Again, they could not find my pending pickup order so they had to run all over the place to fulfill the order like I just asked for it.

When in the gardening section the gentleman there was giving great advice, but mentioned he wished that someone else was there. He stepped away to call the person whose day off it was, who agreed with his advice, and then came back and followed up with us to ensure that we were doing the best thing for our new landscaping. I don't know when I've had better customer service, these people know their stuff and actually care about your home. Do not hesitate to give them your business!

Everything was well-stocked, and the layout made shopping simple and stress-free. Staff were friendly and attentive, making the trip even more enjoyable. So I opened the app and searched for the folding table I was looking for. They had a few options. So, I walked into the store, with the exact shelf location of said item indicated in the mobile app. That's handy. I saw the options available to me, I touched and felt the items, and thought "yeah, this is perfect. I'll get it." THEN I looked at the price on the shelf. $39. - wait - that's $10 more than the app says it is. ...aaah! The item is $10 if you buy "online" (or with the app) So, here I am, holding the desired item in my hands, but with the opportunity to save 25% if I buy "online". Ok. I'll buy on the app and do store pickup. Annoying but that's $10 I can spend on AI tokens or lottery tickets (whichever my AI agent instructs me to do) So I order and pay for the item. Now I have to wait. And wait. And wait. Why oh why oh why can't I just take the item in my hands and pay the same price in the store as buying "online"? It's cheaper to take this same item, have a store associate look for it, stick it in the pickup storage, send me a text, and have me either come to the pickup line or wait in my car for this item right here in my hands?? What the hell kind of logic is that? I sat in the parking lot for almost 2 hours waiting to see how this would go. When I finally got the notification that it was ready, I went back into the store, interrupting my epic streak on my "Pawdoku" game to go to the pickup counter. The pickup counter? The customer service desk. Yep. Get in line buddy, behind all those people at the customer service desk. Another 15 minute wait. What a joke. Corporations beware: THIS is what happens when that CEO sets goals like "we want to shift 40% of our sales to our digital channels" or some dumb crap like that. The customer's actual experience that looks oh-so-good on paper and oh-so-good on the executive dashboard, goes right into the toilet and what do people remember? The product? The prices? No. The EXPERIENCE. Stop doing dumb stuff, Target. Think about customers and their actual experience, and stop having different prices for the exact same product that's sitting on the shelf as a "lure" to make those digital engagement numbers look good. You suck. ALERT TO UX people at Target!! - print this review out and do a customer journey map, starting with "customer touches and feels the item and decides they want to buy it for the price they saw on the app that led them into the store". And don't inject crap like "with increased customer dwell, they're more likely to buy convenience items and coffee" - NO. The customer is annoyed. Write that down. The customer doesn't want your coffee or your convenience items. He needs a god-damned folding table and to spend his gift card. Write that down too. Whenever I'm there the wannabe Martha Stewart in me emerges and feels compelled to take home all the beautiful things in sight. Oh the possibilities! Realistically though, I'd have no idea how to make use of most of it because I'm just not that creative in addition having neither the funds nor the space. Of course there are times when this store, or any of the others for that matter, won't have exactly what you want, when you want it. For example, you might find slim pickings on some of the Christmas stuff before you've even thought about carving your Thanksgiving turkey. Therefore, it's best to shop early and get seasonal items as soon as they hit the shelves. Also, it's imperative for those on a budget (and who isn't right now!) to take advantage of sales and/or coupons whenever possible. Much of the regular priced merchandise isn't what I would consider inexpensive and things can add up pretty quickly (especially if you listen to Martha!).
