Save this as your next go-to brunch spot! What a fabulous experience! This was the first place I've visited in awhile that had multiple different dishes I really wanted to order. They have so many cool entree options, both sweet and savory. Everything we tried was great. Pleasantly surprised that the food also came out super fast. We stopped by around 10:00 am on a Sunday and were sat right away. We had drinks within just a few minutes and then food in what seemed like 10 minutes or so. There was no wait when we arrived, but by the time we left around 11:00 am, there was a pretty solid line. They don't do reservations, so the vibe is to just do athleisure and sunglasses and get there as early as possible. Overall, fantastic brunch! Only a few small annoying things - 1) There are a ton of interesting mimosa options, but all except the orange are made with syrups. No fresh juice in sight. Not a big deal, I was just really excited for a fresh peach mimosa. 2) Tables were itty bitty and the chairs were super cramped. My chair was touching both my table and the person's chair behind me the entire time. Felt like a mimosa-filled Shrek sitting at the tiny table on the tiny chair. Smoked Duck Breast with Quince Sauce Hash - inventive, sweet n savory, and just a great new thing New England Lobster Roll - hearty and tasty. Also not too different from other lobster rolls you'd get elsewhere, but still well done and delicious Sausage & Shrimp Grits - a surprise hit with our table. Worth a try if you're a grits fan. We all agreed their potatoes were well-seasoned and flavorful. The mimosas were delightful. Can't wait to come back here the next time I'm in SF and try more. We started off with hot matcha latte which was delicious! I had a hard time choosing a drink because they have tons of drink options from Red Velvet Latte to White chocolate mocha! We ordered the PJ's Sweet Flight, Coastal Benedict, and Chorizo Ave Scramble! The Sweet Flight was my favorite! It came with one Red velvet pancake, one Fluffy cottage pancake, Pain de mie custard French toast! My favorite was definitely the french toast out of the flight but I like how we got to try a little of everything! The Coastal Benedict Dungeness had a good portion of crab meat, garlic shrimp, garlic sautéed spinach, and served with crispy potato! One of my favorite brunch places in SF!! I've been here a few times already, this time we got the chipotle honey fried chicken & red velvet waffles and the norwegian benedict. The fried chicken was sooo juicy, cooked to perfection! And the red velvet waffles were very tasty as well. The portion was huge! I could not finish on my own. The norwegian benedict was delicious as well, I love smoked salmon eggs benedict, it is the best combo out there. We saw the wait and thought we'd try this place. Is this place worth a $80 bill without tip for two people? Not in my opinion. Pj flight with 3 different pancakes was okay. The biggest dissapointment was the half French toast. First off it was super dry and hard to chew. Secondly it needed more vanilla and cinnamon or something to give it some flavor. Crab Benedict was just okay. I felt the crab tasted too fishy for my taste. I can definitely say that my crab was not fresh and the shrimp was way too overcooked. [Pre-Covid Review] Tried Plain Jane before the pandemic with a friend - meaning this review is almost 3 years overdue! I remember getting here right around prime brunch time which meant there was a good amount of waiting. I can't recall what my friend ordered, but I noticed the Pain de Mie French Toast was one of the most popular items so I ordered that and a hot matcha latte. I had a difficult time choosing what drink I wanted since they had really unique flavors. The food is definitely very Instagrammable, but also tasted delicious. The French Toast was very decadent - nice and crispy on the outside, with a creamy, custardy center. This dish is served with maple syrup, fresh berries, and cottage sweet cream. Prices are on the high side - the French Toast was $17 - but that's the price you pay in the city, and especially with inflation making just about everything going up in the ingredient and supply chain. I would recommend the Red Velvet Pancakes over the other two. French Toast is good but suuuuper sweet in the middle. The Cottage Cheese Pancakes were pancakes with Chocolate (I think chocolate-- my memory is so bad I'm sorry) and cottage cheese on top. Although unique, I couldn't get my taste buds to enjoy the fluffy pancake with the cottage cheese. But it was still good! It is a brunch place. I don't have much expectations for brunch and this place is kind of no different. It is a solid eatery that sits among the other 'good' brunch places. But I have to say I think for me brunch places don't stand out in my eyes and come across as overly priced breakfast foods. I got the grits, which on its own perhaps needed a touch of salt. The texture was nice with the slightly melted cheese. Shrimps kind of disappointed me, I would've preferred larger ones considering how much I paid for this dish but the presentation was beautiful. The sausage was an amazing part of this fish and was absolutely flavorful if only for a fleeting moment. I cleaned up my palette with the matcha latte. Definitely sweetened but I thought it was a nice finisher. Service was what I would expect. Not sure if it was that day, but for some reason it took me and a couple of other folk to be seated despite having open tables available. But once seated, service was good. The english muffin was really hard to cut through, and I don't think the benedict was anything special compared to other brunch places in SF, especially for the price point. I think it is slightly more expensive than other brunch places by making $1 or $2. My table also got 3 carafes of mimosas to split between 6 people. We got peach, mango, and orange. The peach mimosa just tasted like rosé, which I do enjoy but it definitely did not taste like peach. The mango and orange mimosas were more on point with their flavors. I wish I could give it six stars. The food, staff, and shop are all perfect. I wouldn't change anything at all. I hope this can be a static fixture in my life for the years I live in the area. Definitely a top tier breakfast spot for me that I need to a timely avoid going to in order to give other places a shot. It's just too good. I had a very delicious breakfast today with my wife and my brother. We walked in and were seated quickly. We all ordered and our food came out pretty fast as well. I enjoyed the Peasant Lorraine Flatomelete. It was perfectly cooked, squarish sheet of eggs that had sliced rounds of asparagus, cherry tomatoes, green onions, bacon, and melted Swiss cheese all dappled in the perfect eggs. The dish also comes with slices of seeded bread, and your choice of greens or potatoes and I went with the potatoes. It was enough food to feed me for lunch later on! We all shared the PJ's Sweet Flight which comes with the Pain De Mei custard French toast, a cottage cheese pancake w/ fruit and Oreo crumbs, and a red velvet pancake w/ bananas chocolate chips & maple syrup. My favorite was the French toast with custard in the center! It was so, very delicious! We ordered a mimosa carafe since they don't have bottomless, and we were satisfied. They have a lot of different mimosa flavors, but we opted for the classic OJ and they were made well. Split among 3 people, 2 carafes was enough to have a good buzz which would be about the price of bottomless anyways. The brunch itself was good. The chicken tender and chorizo fries were bomb, the fries were well seasoned and loaded up, though I'm not sure how well the chicken went with the fries. Still good though. The fried chicken and waffles were also good, though some pieces of the chicken were a little dry. My friend got the chorizo scramble which was also solid. I'd come back to try the pancakes and other dishes. It was kinda pricey but I think eating out is just like that now, so just be aware. Overall a solid brunch option in the Mission.
