I wanted to try a new coffee shop in the area and ran into PJs. It's a cute and quaint shop if you want to catch up with a friend, but be warned it's very loud so it's not the ideal place to work out of. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu which is an added plus. I ordered one of their special coffees and beignets, both were delicious! My only complaint is the lack of food options, most coffee shops have a good selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches/items but I was a bit underwhelmed with the options. I was looking for a coffee shop in the area to get work done. This places seemed to be a a neighborhood favorite. I went in on a Sunday. The line was long, I maybe stood in like for about 15 minutes. The breakfast sandwich was the best thing I ordered. The bagel was soft and the sandwich was tasty. I ordered the Hot oat latte, it was decent. The beignets were very sweet and soft. I would've preferred it to be cooked just a little longer. The coffee shop is a great size and can hold quite a few people. It was pretty loud to complete my reading, so I sat outside. I saw this place being reviewed on the clock app and decided to give it a try. Ever since I've been back from New Orleans I've been wanting some beignets, and this place has them! It's a nice size coffee shop with plenty of seating that has some regular chairs and tables, a high-top table with chairs, and then some couch-like chairs at a low table. My son and I sat at the couch chairs with the low table. Food: I ordered the maple bacon cheese and egg biscuit. This breakfast sandwich was underwhelming. The biscuit was too doughy for my liking and that lone piece of bacon just wasn't it. I also ordered the beignets with a praline cream latte! The beignets were nice, soft, and fluffy with a nice amount of powdered sugar. In the words of JJ Walker, "This place is DYNOMITE." I had such a nice experience here over a light breakfast with a girlfriend. Although we ate on the patio out front, the inside is really cute, and I like the fact that its branded to not look like Starbucks (nothing wrong with this), but they have their own color scheme, décor, and vibe. Maple Sausage & Cheddar on Ciabatta was very tasty. The baristas were very nice and polite. One recommended the Green Tea Mojito Tea Mixer made with numi citrus Green Iced Tea sweetened with a mojito syrup. It was very good and perfect for a summer day! PJ's was also putting together a school drive of some sort, where lots of local people came in and were making these care packages with school supplies. Visited PJs as the location for our bookclub meet up last month & it was awesome! When you walk into the place, it just gives you a warm feeling a you step in! It was my first time visiting PJs and boy have I been missing out! It was relatively crowded as expected on a Saturday morning, but the service was good and the staff was nice and friendly. I had the veggie sausage, egg and cheese; it was your typical coffee shop, premade breakfast sandwich but it wasn't bad at all. I had the Southern Wedding Cake iced latte. It was soooo GOOD. Several of the ladies ordered beignets, so I had to try them. OMG! They taste like they're straight from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans! I had to take a to go order of beignets for my kids. So excited I finally got around to driving out to Bowie to try PJ's Coffee! I absolutely loved this lively and social coffee shop. From the moment, I stepped into the door, I felt welcomed. They have music going and the employees are nice. I also got a chance to meet the owner, Tyra, and she was so kind. I ordered the Iced Mocha Latte and it was yummy. I could definitely taste that strong coffee coming through. And the beignets are a MUST TRY. I like how fresh they are, they come out hot! I ordered a vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso (breve with half and half) and a blueberry muffin for delivery. While the order arrived on time, it wasn't my order that was delivered. The driver was kind enough to apologize and later brought the correct order. The blueberry muffin was delicious, but unfortunately, the coffee was a disappointment. While I waited for my order, I struck up a conversation with a gentleman that worked there and he mentioned that this location is the only one that sells the Beignets locally. I prefer it over the other mainstream shop. I had the Green Tea Mojito, and not one but TWO orders of their delicious beignets. The tea was good and had the right amount of mint flavoring. I really enjoy the local PJ Coffee. Having recently returned from NOLA, seeing the locations there reminded me that these locations trike bring the spirit of New Orleans to our area. The beignets are warm, covered in sugar and delicious. I often opt to get them sugar free for a different feel but I'm weird, so there's that! Lol! I enjoy sitting outside of the location on warmer days and the local clientele are always warm and friendly. People are typically reading or working while drinking coffee. Customer service is typically fast and on numerous occasions, I have called the local managers for permission to use the outside of the store for video shoots and they have kindly obliged. They have always been VERY FRIENDLY. My only feedback...due to Covid the sugar, creamer, and other coffee needs have been removed. I hate it. The employees are busy filling orders so if you realize that you need anything you have to stand and wait to ask for your needs. It's the worst. I love to see Black Owned Businesses thriving and achieving its goal, especially during a pandemic! I've been on the look-out for PJ's for a while because my Nextdoor App mentioned it coming to the neighborhood. When they decided to open up, they sent out fliers with coupons that included free options to try a few of their beverages and/or pastries to the surrounding neighborhoods. I thought that was a great marketing idea to get the community involved in the new business! Located in the previously owned yogurt shop that has now closed, PJ's Coffee of New Orleans was founded in 1978. They serve hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages, as well as organic tea and breakfast pastries and sandwiches. Bags of coffee beans and single serve pods of PJ's coffee can be purchased in-store and online. The inside is very clean and chic, with New Orleans jazz playing on the speakers. Seating for relaxing and working on your laptops and a few sofas for lounging is available throughout. Sidewalk seating is also available. Now I'm not a coffee drinker nor am I hot beverage drinker, but my mother is, so I already knew I wanted to stop by for her sake. Oh, but I am a fan of beignets and the ones served here would make New Orleans proud! They are soooo delicious!! I stopped in and was greeted very pleasantly by the staff. I tried the mini maple sausage waffle sandwich for myself and the egg white and turkey sausage on English muffin for my parents. I loved my experience at this local Bowie gem. As a self-proclaimed coffee lover, I had read about this local business and had wanted to support this black owned business. On a Friday morning a few weeks ago, I finally got the opportunity to stop by. It was just after 10 am, but the PJ's was pretty busy for a weekday morning. I ordered two coffees -- an Americano with almond milk for myself (my usual) and a Caramel Granita for my husband. And, of course, I had to get the beignets! Let me just say I got two orders of the beignets, and I wish I had gotten three orders. They were THAT good. I loved the vibe of the coffee shop too. Very swanky, spacious, and nice decor. I saw a couple of people on their laptops, and I know that they have wifi as well there. The ordering process was pretty easy. Wait in line, then walk up to the counter, place your order, and take a number and wait until your order is called. This was my first time out in Bowie so I decided to try out PJ's Coffee. Being the closest location to me so I thought, why not. First and foremost, I want to say that the person working cashier was super kind and friendly. I had lots of questions since I'm a coffee novice and he answered all of them. Very personable and gave me all the time I needed to decide. I eventually settled on ordering a medium sized Café Au Lait with skim milk and a shot of sugar free vanilla syrup. The drink came super hot and the taste was on point. The coffee I had them use was a Southern Pecan flavor which was really good with the little bit of syrup. Overall, good value for my money and I liked the atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi (as expected in a coffee shop) is available as well. This isy go to when I want a delicious hot & fresh beignet. Seriously folks, they're pretty amazing! The texture is light and fluffy with a delicate chew to the dough which is sprinkled with powered sugar. Make sure to cover your clothes if you're dressed up because the white powder will get on you. They are sold 3 pieces to an order and I get a couple orders weekly because my family also enjoy them. I also enjoy the cranberry orange scone and get it warmed but the last couple of times it hasn't been as fresh as it used to be. Yet, it's still pretty good. The breakfast sandwiches are also enjoyable and they have turkey sausage; pork bacon; pork sausage and ham. I haven't tried the new sandwiches: turkey; ham; or the Cuban, but they look delicious. Sadly, I'm not a fan of the coffee there and I've tried several types including lattes, cappuccinos, and regular. It's just not for me. Service is generally solid and I applaud their staff overall. I first discovered PJ's in New Orleans back in 2016 and let me tell you, when I found out there was one in Maryland... well I couldn't wait to introduce my husband. During the pandemic we went here a bunch of times (how have I not reviewed it yet though?!)... my friends were jealously thinking we were jet setting to New Orleans for some good coffee and powdery sugar beignets. The coffee is great and the service is even better. It is always prompt even when the line is out the door, which is often is based on its location. But it is also home to the most wonderful community support you will find. On any given weekend you will find a peloton of bikers returning from a ride, a local author showcasing her newest book, revivals and politicians meeting with people. It's king Cake season, so i was super excited to see their's on display. They had other flavors but i like cream cheese and got that.
