Pj's in Bowie is truly a staple, the beignets are served hot and are much fluffier and a much better quality batter than that of Cafe De Monde in THEEEE New Orleans. Those beignets I often found that the mixture was lacking, think pancake batter without the fluffiness and the butter. These are by. far the best. beignets I have ever had, I was taught in New Orleans that in order to fully enjoy the beignets you must also order a cup of hot coffee and dip the beignets in order to eliminate the dryness of the pastry, however here at PJ's I had no need for this. I did enjoy a cup of the buttery rum latte but had no desire to dip as they both deserved homage independently. The beignets were so filling I only needed one and will enjoy the rest at a later time....hopefully I can figure out how to reheat while preserving them. My only gripe is the need for more spaced out seating but maybe that is what provides and adds to the intimacy of this space. I felt bad having to share a table with another group that were there for bible study. Some of the tables are awkwardly spaced and it was difficult to find a table that would protect me and was a good distance from the door as it is getting chilly. Either way I will return and I do know that expanding establishments can at some times impede on the quality of the product. read more

I stopped in today and was so glad I did! Black Owned and New Orleans inspired. Everyone was so friendly and the staff was very professional and nice. I had the Velvet Granita with almond milk. I also had the applewood bacon sandwich with egg. The place is buzzing and the music was relaxing. I'm a fan of Starbucks but I think I found my new place for coffee. read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere here. It's a well decorated store. When you first walk in, you can smell the beignets cooking, followed by the smell of coffee. The first time I went, I got the praline and cream latte. I didn't love it. Today I got the honey oat milk latte and it was magnificent, truly. I want to try their matcha tea latte next. read more

I wanted to try a new coffee shop in the area and ran into PJs. It's a cute and quaint shop if you want to catch up with a friend, but be warned it's very loud so it's not the ideal place to work out of. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu which is an added plus. I ordered one of their special coffees and beignets, both were delicious! My only complaint is the lack of food options, most coffee shops have a good selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches/items but I was a bit underwhelmed with the options. I think I'll be back, definitely for those beignets. read more

I saw this place being reviewed on the clock app and decided to give it a try. Ever since I've been back from New Orleans I've been wanting some beignets, and this place has them! It's a nice size coffee shop with plenty of seating that has some regular chairs and tables, a high-top table with chairs, and then some couch-like chairs at a low table. My son and I sat at the couch chairs with the low table. Food: I ordered the maple bacon cheese and egg biscuit. This breakfast sandwich was underwhelming. The biscuit was too doughy for my liking and that lone piece of bacon just wasn't it. I also ordered the beignets with a praline cream latte! The beignets were nice, soft, and fluffy with a nice amount of powdered sugar. That latte was exactly what I needed! *Chefs kiss* My son ordered the Turkey egg and cheese on an English muffin, beignets, and mocha frozen latte (probably got the name wrong). He raved about all of his food and said he wants to go back later in the week! We will most definitely be going back for the beignets and drinks. read more

My goodness! I have never had a tougher, hard to chew, almost broke my tooth cinnamon bagel in life. The bagel was so hard like it was made for dogs. Maybe they don't toast them. Perhaps they put them in a microwave as it felt like when you leave bread in a micro waaaay too long and it makes it inedible. Geez! I thought the Bix bagels were tough. Wow! My latte was decent but dang that bagel was awful. read more

The sugar free vanilla latte that I had was very well brewed, lots of body, good quality beans, good serving size! I recommend you visit this coffee shop when you visit Bowie! Service is efficient and staff friendly! The cinnamon roll we shared was large, fresh, delicate and tasty with the perfect amount of dainty sweetness. The quality was in the perfectly made dough!!! Good job, PJ's!!!! read more

Love this place ! Their beignets are too tasty, flaky and soft in the middle, just how I like them. I also usually get their chai latte because I'm a chai lover lol I am yet to try anything else honestly because I always go for the beignets! The place is a nice spot to do work and chill as well so definitely check them out. read more

Love this coffee shop with a New Orleans theme! I can't come here without getting beignets which are nice and hot and powder-sugary, just like they are at Cafe Du Monde in Nawlins. The shop is tastefully decorated and it's got a spacious & comfortable seating area. The workers are so hospitable and many times that I've waited for my coffee or vanilla latte, and my hot beignets, they've walked my order out to me as I'm seated. Definitely worth stopping by and it's become one of my favorite coffee shops! read more

In the words of JJ Walker, "This place is DYNOMITE." I had such a nice experience here over a light breakfast with a girlfriend. Although we ate on the patio out front, the inside is really cute, and I like the fact that its branded to not look like Starbucks (nothing wrong with this), but they have their own color scheme, décor, and vibe. Maple Sausage & Cheddar on Ciabatta was very tasty. The baristas were very nice and polite. One recommended the Green Tea Mojito Tea Mixer made with numi citrus Green Iced Tea sweetened with a mojito syrup. It was very good and perfect for a summer day! PJ's was also putting together a school drive of some sort, where lots of local people came in and were making these care packages with school supplies. That really made me glad to see, this black owned business giving back to the community, and investing in tomorrow's future. So, I'll be back for the beignets and next time a real cup of coffee, at this rate I'm already impressed with this PG County gem! read more

So excited I finally got around to driving out to Bowie to try PJ's Coffee! I absolutely loved this lively and social coffee shop. From the moment, I stepped into the door, I felt welcomed. They have music going and the employees are nice. I also got a chance to meet the owner, Tyra, and she was so kind. I ordered the Iced Mocha Latte and it was yummy. I could definitely taste that strong coffee coming through. And the beignets are a MUST TRY. I like how fresh they are, they come out hot! I felt like the beignets had a good amount of powdered sugar... you don't really need to much because the dough is sweet itself. It's the perfect match to your coffee. There is plenty of parking and they have outside seating. Try them out! I'll definitely be back. read more

Visited PJs as the location for our bookclub meet up last month & it was awesome! When you walk into the place, it just gives you a warm feeling a you step in! It was my first time visiting PJs and boy have I been missing out! It was relatively crowded as expected on a Saturday morning, but the service was good and the staff was nice and friendly. I had the veggie sausage, egg and cheese; it was your typical coffee shop, premade breakfast sandwich but it wasn't bad at all. I had the Southern Wedding Cake iced latte. It was soooo GOOD. Several of the ladies ordered beignets, so I had to try them. OMG! They taste like they're straight from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans! I had to take a to go order of beignets for my kids. I returned last week with my husband and he too was pleased. We will definitely be going back really soon! read more

I was looking for a coffee shop in the area to get work done. This places seemed to be a a neighborhood favorite. I went in on a Sunday. The line was long, I maybe stood in like for about 15 minutes. The breakfast sandwich was the best thing I ordered. The bagel was soft and the sandwich was tasty. I ordered the Hot oat latte, it was decent. The beignets were very sweet and soft. I would've preferred it to be cooked just a little longer. The coffee shop is a great size and can hold quite a few people. It was pretty loud to complete my reading, so I sat outside. Overall, it was great to experience but I don't think I'll visit again. read more

My good good girlfriend and I have been planning for 2 months to visit this location. Well actually it was between this location and the other location Maryland but I appreciated the reviews on Yelp for this one more. We were dying to taste the beignets and specialty hot drinks. When we arrived we immediately found location within shopping center and ran in to order. Great layout for the cafe. A lot of bakery items. Looking forward to returning and getting a Butter Croissant. Great hot tea options and the latest snacks on top of bakery display counter to choose from. Extensive beverage menu along with plenty of options including limited edition flavors. The staff here are very nice, young and vibrant. After I ordered my Beignets and Butter Rum Cappuccino, I just took in all of the atmosphere. I love the layout. Due to Covid, we were unable to stay but I enjoyed the décor. I really enjoyed the Christmas tunes with the jazz band in the background playing overhead. This place was a total New Orleans feeling/ mood. While I waited for my order, I struck up a conversation with a gentleman that worked there and he mentioned that this location is the only one that sells the Beignets locally. We drove an hour here today! Words cannot explain how disappointed I would have been if I would have went to the other location and not been able to partake in the New Orleans tradition of Beignets with my specialty beverage. Outdoors there a few seating options if one chooses, I chose to eat my car. My cappuccino and Beignets were so good! Words cannot explain how good they were! There were so fluffy and light, very tasty. The absolute best I've ever had. My cappuccino had just the right amount of everything. It was smooth!! I will totally get that again if available. I am so impressed with everything experienced today and I cannot wait to brag to everyone about it as well as visit again. Job well done PJ's! I am so impressed with everything. We needed you and you're definitely worth the drive. read more

PJ's is one of the many things that I'll miss about Bowie living. For months, I've enjoyed this New Orleans inspired shop being right around the corner. The staff is friendly and helpful. This coffeehouse also serves as a pit stop during our Sunday recovery (cycling) rides. Cycling and Coffee are like PB&J. The vibe is always upbeat with New Orleans inspired tunes playing & that theme informs everything else including menu offerings. Speaking of the menu, there's so much to try. For beverages, we've had the French Roast, Viennese Blend, and Carnival Blend. This small batch coffee is smooth, but the Carnival blend may be the favorite of the three. In addition, the cappuccinos, butter rum, gingerbread lattes, and hot chocolate hit the spot on chilly days. PJs offers an assortment of rich buttery pastries that can be warmed if you desire. I mean, when was the last time you had a moist scone? However, I'll likely order the beignets when I'm ready to indulge. You can order 3 for $4.25 or a full or half dozen. +Tip: Sign up for loyalty rewards to get free treats. read more

I ordered a vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso (breve with half and half) and a blueberry muffin for delivery. While the order arrived on time, it wasn't my order that was delivered. The driver was kind enough to apologize and later brought the correct order. The blueberry muffin was delicious, but unfortunately, the coffee was a disappointment. It arrived cold, watered down with milk instead of half and half, and I couldn't even taste the extra shot of espresso. I don't play when it comes to my coffee, and this just wasn't good. read more

PJ's Coffee is a cool place for good coffee, tea, bakery items, and sandwiches. The shop has a New Orleans themed atmosphere with music that is reminiscent of the city. I prefer it over the other mainstream shop. I had the Green Tea Mojito, and not one but TWO orders of their delicious beignets. The tea was good and had the right amount of mint flavoring. When you visit PJ's, you must order the beignets! You will not be disappointed. They are served hot, and are buttery and flaky. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. You had me at beignets!! I first experienced PJ's in Nola while attending Essence Festival. I was wishing they had one back home here in the DMV! Now I'm happy to know they're here. It was honestly some of the best coffee I've had and I'm a bit of a coffee snob! I've had alot of coffee!! Yesterday on a gorgeous 75 degree November fall day and a historic day in our nation, I met up with a friend whom I hadn't seen since pre-covid days. We sat outside and enjoyed our beignets - it was so good, we got more! I ordered the butter rum latte, it's one of their seasonal drinks! Sooo good. I loved it. My friend enjoyed his frozen drink. Excellent customer service, everyone was following covid protocols! Thank you PJ's! I'll definitely be back. Cozy coffee shop with an array of coffee options for every type of coffee drinker. I'm an iced coffee girl and they offer a few southern inspired options. The founder is from New Orleans and well the beignets do not disappoint. It's honestly the main reason I come! There are snacks, breakfast options and tea on the menu as well. Friendly service, inviting ambience, and delicious treats you can't go wrong stopping by for a coffee date, remote working (or studying). It really is a gem. Both locations offer the same menu. I love to see Black Owned Businesses thriving and achieving its goal, especially during a pandemic! I've been on the look-out for PJ's for a while because my Nextdoor App mentioned it coming to the neighborhood. When they decided to open up, they sent out fliers with coupons that included free options to try a few of their beverages and/or pastries to the surrounding neighborhoods. I thought that was a great marketing idea to get the community involved in the new business! Located in the previously owned yogurt shop that has now closed, PJ's Coffee of New Orleans was founded in 1978. They serve hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages, as well as organic tea and breakfast pastries and sandwiches. Bags of coffee beans and single serve pods of PJ's coffee can be purchased in-store and online. The inside is very clean and chic, with New Orleans jazz playing on the speakers. Seating for relaxing and working on your laptops and a few sofas for lounging is available throughout. Sidewalk seating is also available. Now I'm not a coffee drinker nor am I hot beverage drinker, but my mother is, so I already knew I wanted to stop by for her sake. Oh, but I am a fan of beignets and the ones served here would make New Orleans proud! They are soooo delicious!! I stopped in and was greeted very pleasantly by the staff. I tried the mini maple sausage waffle sandwich for myself and the egg white and turkey sausage on English muffin for my parents. The food was very delightful and my mother thoroughly enjoyed her Ethiopian Blend coffee. I thought it was a real class act that the owner wrote a message on the Nextdoor App to personally invite the community to PJ's. A really nice touch! Welcome to the neighborhood PJ's...I'm a fan! Keep thriving PJ's! PS That frozen hot chocolate is on my radar!! #BlackBusinessesMatter read more

I loved my experience at this local Bowie gem. As a self-proclaimed coffee lover, I had read about this local business and had wanted to support this black owned business. On a Friday morning a few weeks ago, I finally got the opportunity to stop by. It was just after 10 am, but the PJ's was pretty busy for a weekday morning. I ordered two coffees -- an Americano with almond milk for myself (my usual) and a Caramel Granita for my husband. And, of course, I had to get the beignets! Let me just say I got two orders of the beignets, and I wish I had gotten three orders. They were THAT good. I loved the vibe of the coffee shop too. Very swanky, spacious, and nice decor. I saw a couple of people on their laptops, and I know that they have wifi as well there. The ordering process was pretty easy. Wait in line, then walk up to the counter, place your order, and take a number and wait until your order is called. We ended up taking our order to go, as we prefer to eat at home during the pandemic. I can't wait to go back. Next time, I'll try one of their (frozen & blended) coffee specialty drinks! read more

I really enjoy the local PJ Coffee. Having recently returned from NOLA, seeing the locations there reminded me that these locations trike bring the spirit of New Orleans to our area. The beignets are warm, covered in sugar and delicious. I often opt to get them sugar free for a different feel but I'm weird, so there's that! Lol! I enjoy sitting outside of the location on warmer days and the local clientele are always warm and friendly. People are typically reading or working while drinking coffee. Customer service is typically fast and on numerous occasions, I have called the local managers for permission to use the outside of the store for video shoots and they have kindly obliged. They have always been VERY FRIENDLY. My only feedback...due to Covid the sugar, creamer, and other coffee needs have been removed. I hate it. The employees are busy filling orders so if you realize that you need anything you have to stand and wait to ask for your needs. It's the worst. Is there anyway that the station can slowly be returned so that people can help themselves to sugar packets and creamer containers? Forks also? read more

They're smothered in powdered sugar so don't wear anything you don't want powdered sugar on. They come in a quantity of 3 which is more than enough. The beignets are better than what I had in NOLA! Great coffee, great customer service, and love the music! My favorite drink is the mocha latte. I also really love their beignets!

This was my first time out in Bowie so I decided to try out PJ's Coffee. Being the closest location to me so I thought, why not. First and foremost, I want to say that the person working cashier was super kind and friendly. I had lots of questions since I'm a coffee novice and he answered all of them. Very personable and gave me all the time I needed to decide. I eventually settled on ordering a medium sized Café Au Lait with skim milk and a shot of sugar free vanilla syrup. The drink came super hot and the taste was on point. The coffee I had them use was a Southern Pecan flavor which was really good with the little bit of syrup. Overall, good value for my money and I liked the atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi (as expected in a coffee shop) is available as well. Relaxed vibe inside and they have lots of food options as well, including Beignets. That being said, I know what I'll try on my second visit. Next time you're in Bowie, be sure so stop by. read more

This isy go to when I want a delicious hot & fresh beignet. Seriously folks, they're pretty amazing! The texture is light and fluffy with a delicate chew to the dough which is sprinkled with powered sugar. Make sure to cover your clothes if you're dressed up because the white powder will get on you. They are sold 3 pieces to an order and I get a couple orders weekly because my family also enjoy them. I also enjoy the cranberry orange scone and get it warmed but the last couple of times it hasn't been as fresh as it used to be. Yet, it's still pretty good. The breakfast sandwiches are also enjoyable and they have turkey sausage; pork bacon; pork sausage and ham. I haven't tried the new sandwiches: turkey; ham; or the Cuban, but they look delicious. Sadly, I'm not a fan of the coffee there and I've tried several types including lattes, cappuccinos, and regular. It's just not for me. Service is generally solid and I applaud their staff overall. I first discovered PJ's in New Orleans back in 2016 and let me tell you, when I found out there was one in Maryland... well I couldn't wait to introduce my husband. During the pandemic we went here a bunch of times (how have I not reviewed it yet though?!)... my friends were jealously thinking we were jet setting to New Orleans for some good coffee and powdery sugar beignets. The coffee is great and the service is even better. It is always prompt even when the line is out the door, which is often is based on its location. But it is also home to the most wonderful community support you will find. On any given weekend you will find a peloton of bikers returning from a ride, a local author showcasing her newest book, revivals and politicians meeting with people. I love PJ's and I still come to the one out in Bowie despite the fact that I am closer to the one in Silver Spring, just because of the community atmosphere in this location. read more
