I stopped in to treat myself to a latte and dessert. I wanted my drink customized, but they said they don't allow any modifications at all. I ended up going with just the dessert and decided in the carrot cake. The cake itself was ok, but I'm not a fan of how they're displayed out in the open. As I was leaving I looked at some of the other choices and watched gnats landing on the food. I probably wont be back. read more

Cute bakery, great location. We stopped in late one evening near closing time for some chai tea lattes. The location appeared very clean and the overall aesthetic was consistent with other Tatte locations that I have visited throughout DC. WIth the exception of a few people working, it was not very busy, so we were assisted immediately.The staff member who took the order was cordial and efficient. We ordered the beverages, took the stand with the order number to our table and awaited the drinks to be served. The time between ordering and receiving our beverages was between 5-10 minutes. The lattes were served in the usual plastic Tatte cup, so it had the typical presentation. From the first sip, we realized that the drinks were watered down with essentially no flavor. At best, there was a hint of chai flavor, but definitely not on par with others I have ordered elsewhere. I would return again because of the location and ambiance, but I certainly would not purchase another chai tea latte. read more

Visited Tatte numerous times and was excited to try this location. Sadly, my visit here was a bit disappointing. The food was lackluster, my breakfast sandwich was nothing special, just a little messy to eat. My latte was decent but the milk foam on top was cold. The pastries were also cold, but you can ask them to reheat. To me there wasn't anything spectacular about it. The shakshuka wasn't bad, had nice flavor, slightly heavy on the garlic (keep in mind if you're not a lover of garlic). This dish was actually hot. Although, I've had just ok experiences at other Tatte locations, I was hoping this would be better. They're also on the pricey side, which would be fine if the food was better. I did like the layout of the cafe, and there were a lot of places to sit esp. for a Saturday. The overall ambiance inside is relaxing and comfortable. read more

BLUF: Gourmet sandwiches, cafe fare, gorgeous pastries and coffee served in a pretty but potentially loud space at Annapolis Town Center. Tatte Bakery & Cafe moved into the spacious stand-alone spot vacated by Brio and my husband is over the moon. My husband works near a Tatte in DC and he is a very faithful customer there so he was excited to finally share his love of this Boston-born bakery with me. Yep, I see why he thought I would like it! Immediately, I was struck by the gorgeous decor inspired European cafes and reminiscent of the early 1900s. After I finished marveling at gleaming white subway tile, gold industrial-esque lighting, marble-top bistro tables and such, I was salivating over the bakery case. Desserts as far as the eye could see! Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration but with the line on an early Saturday morning I couldn't see much of the 20-ish foot long dessert case initially but as soon as I made my way through the line I caught glances of cookies, croissants, morning buns and other fancy pastries that are not familiar to me. I should note that the menu definitely reflects European, Mediterranean and Israeli inspiration. As much as I love sweets, I definitely needed some protein so my husband and I ordered sandwiches to start our day - I had the smoke salmon, avocado and egg sandwich served on a homemade challah roll with fresh sprouts and a creamy herby dressing. It was messy and absolutely delicious! My husband had one of his favorite go-tos - a Bacon Lettuce Tomato Avocado sandwich. And let's be real, since it was my first visit and a special outing for us, we also shared a vanilla donut and monkey bread. I actually liked the donut more than the monkey bread because I wish the monkey bread had more cinnamon. We washed all of that down with two servings of black coffee, tipped the cashier/runner and just like that it was a $50 breakfast eaten at a small cafe table. As for the coffee, it was average.(O So while I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and this lovely early Saturday morning with my husband, I can see where Tatte will be reserved for the seldom early Saturday morning. First, unless you are at the shopping center early and can score a parking spot on the street nearby, you have to park in the garage and walk over. Second, the space is very open, only has hard surfaces, has tall ceilings and nothing to dampen the noise so I have to think that when crowded it would be very loud. (On nice weather days the outdoor patio might be a nice reprieve.) Third, I think its pricey. Not to say you aren't getting what you pay for, I just don't see myself treating myself to Tatte on the regular. (But clearly my husband does!) Plus, there are other local bakeries that I also want to continue supporting. read more

I'm sure there were some issues when they first opened as happens with many new restaurants in the beginning, but the day we went, the food was hot, quickly served, and service was great! No rude employees for us. The only thing that took awhile was our drink. We ordered a hot chocolate and it wasn't ready until after our food came, but the barista was apologetic and gave it to us directly rather than waited for the wait staff to come by and hand it to us. We sat right at the coffee bar and saw how busy they were. They were making drinks non-stop so I can't fault them or say they were too slow. I didn't try any of the pastries because none of them seemed that appealing to me flavor-wise, but I'm sure they were tasty. They don't have whipped cream for the hot chocolate, but the flavor was good and definitely didn't taste like generic hot chocolate. It tasted like real chocolate. The spinach, Jerusalem artichoke and egg plate I got was so good! I wish the plate was even bigger because I could have kept eating it. The bread it comes with isn't warmed and I think I would have preferred that as the crust was too hard for my taste, but other than that, it was an amazing dish that I definitely already want again and I hope to one day try their pastries! read more

Love this place. Looks super cool on the inside and the staff is always so friendly. My daughter and I stopped by after a long day of shopping during her fall college break. We ordered food, drinks and pastries. Everything was delicious. I got a craft fig and mint soda and loved it. Not overly sweet and the mint shines through. My daughter got an iced chai latte. She wasn't a huge fan. She prefers her chai to be more milk forward vs water. No doubt they would have remade it, but she didn't want to trouble them. We also ordered lunch to go. I got a salmon grain bowl. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely order again. Food came out fast, fresh and hot. My daughter got a grilled cheese which she also really liked. We ordered several pastries. All were sooooo good! My favorite was a meringue style cookie. Wonderful bite. Nice mix of chewy and crisp. This place is pretty neat. Its very clean and organized. They sell sanwiches, salads, bowls, all day breakfast and it all looked yummy. I ordered the BLAT and it was delicious and evenly toasted to perfection. They have a separate coffee bar. The pastries all looked yummy and was hard to decide what to get. All their coffees are the best around. Service is always excellent and this place is well managed. A once in a while type of spot. Tatte brings a modern industrial take on the cafe lifestyle. While the seating goes quick, I'm not sure how long Tatte will be around. Prices are high and the menu is extravagant. The sandwiches were delicious but the price is steep. Coffees and pastries are so so unfortunately, which is the biggest faux pas in my opinion. I was excited to try the Iced Honey Halva Latte but the flavors just weren't working together. I think it's worth trying once just to try it out, but not a sustainable pick to be a reoccurring spot. read more

This coffee shop falls under the category of 'nice but loud.' I ordered the pistachio croissant (amazing) and a sesame latte which was also enjoyable buttttt I was not expecting the bottom 1/8th of the drink to just be sesame seeds. I assumed that they would use a paste however I found myself chewing on mouthfuls of sesame seeds! Overall while I wish the pastries could've been warmed, they were exceptional. My main gripes with this location is that the ceiling are so high that it's definitely a noisy shop. Not an intimate feel at all which is what I lean more towards these days, and the drinks were just ok. I would revisit but maybe as a grab n go and then walk around the shops in the town center. read more

Nice ambiance but I went there solely for a kouign amann. That was not it. Soft bread is not a flaky, croissant like texture. Dipping the bottom of your soft bread in some syrup is not the same effect as carmelization. Ignoring the salt element on said "carmelization" is just leaving out flavor. NO. I stopped by Tatte during the Christmas lighting event at the Annapolis Town Center. The place was fairly busy, which was a good sign. You have an option to get your food to go or sit down and eat. They have a huge glass case in the middle with all types of cookies, cakes, pies, biscuits, and croissants. They have a pastry chef there who explains all of their offerings and they even allow you to heat up your item if that is your thing. On this visit we tried the chocolate croissant, buttermilk biscuits and the chocolate chip cookies. I will say that everything was delicious. I like my cookies on the sweeter side but these were still good. I will definitely be back and you should check it out as well. read more

Had a lovely brunch at the new Tatte in Annapolis. The Shakshuka is a 10 out of 10 and so is the Croque Monsieur! Delicious! My friend said the chicken salad sandwich was pretty good, but it didn't come with any side and it was not a lot. I don't know if she would get it again. And we don't have a picture of it, but one of the ladies ordered the Farro bowl and I don't think she was happy with that. It was pretty small and you couldn't modify anything. Cranberry pistachio cookies are delicious. Overall great experience definitely coming back for shakshuka. It is a little noisy in there, so next time we might sit outside. read more

My first visit to Tatte was today, to meet a group of friends around 11 am on a Thursday. The space is bright--high ceilings and all done in black & white tile. The seating and traffic flow took a few minutes to figure out. There are about 3 small tables out near the door, then the big ordering & pastry counter is right smack in the middle. You walk around behind that to where the majority of tables are situated. There is one big farmhouse type table, which would seat 8 or so, but there were several smaller parties sharing that. Most of the rest of the seating was smaller, bistro-type tables and chairs. We were able to pull three little round tables together to seat our group of 7. We took turns going up to order--they give you a number to take back to the table. I ordered the Tatte House Special Latte, and I enjoyed that. Others in our group tried various pastries or breakfast items. I was told that the apple turnover was very good. When it gets busy, the staff bringing out the food & drink have to wander around a bit to find the right customers. All in all, we had a nice coffee hour. The noise level is energetic, due to all the tile surfaces. I think it would be great in warmer weather, when you could take your coffee or treats outside. read more

I was so excited to see a Tatte in MD, to avoid having to go to DC and deal with traffic and parking. I visited yesterday and while it ended up turning out ok for the most part in the end, it didn't start off that well. I really wanted a cookie, so I came and to my surprise the dessert section was about 80% empty! I was confused because it was about 3pm and they don't close until 8pm. Very slim pickings, so I settled for a brownie with nuts (I preferred a regular brownie w/o nuts, but they ran out of that as well). I also got an iced coffee. To my surprise I loved the brownie, just didn't like the nuts so I picked them off. The coffee tasted a little more bitter than usual, wasn't a fan. However, it was a nice day and nice sitting out on their outdoor patio. Looks like there was an outdoor event that day, which is probably why they ran out of pastries, but still, you're a bakery, I would expect you have enough to last mostly the entire day. Anyways, I'll probably be back once in a blue moon to get a regular brownie and try other pastries when they're fully stocked. read more

The service was absolutely horrible. One of the male workers wearing an orange knit sweater (turned out to be one of the managers) was extremely rude to our family. When he brought the pastries to our table, he slammed the plates on our table. When my sister asked if we could get it heated up, he snatched the croissants away and rolled his eyes. When he brought the pastries back, he dropped all the forks on the table and proceeded to grab them and put it back on the plate while our pastries were sliding off the plate almost touching the table. Usually when that happens, new forks are offered or an apology is offered. My sister had to get up and ask for new forks, and that request was returned with a judgmental comment of "what, why? Because the fork touched the table?" Yes, because the fork touched the table (which we had to wipe the crumbs left from the previous customer ourselves before we sat down). And then, while he walked away he raised his shoulders, waved his hands, and rolled his eyes again. This whole encounter was very irritating for us to endure as a customer despite the pastries tasted good. I just can't believe that rude worker is a manager. read more

Love the retro atmosphere in this tiled bakery cafe. Friends took me here for a birthday lunch. The North African dishes are amazing-- I recommend the shackshuka skillets. Ate at Tatte for the first time last weekend. Came in before the rush on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised at the airy feel and the complete transformation from what had been a mediocre Italian joint. First impression was very good! Resisted the urge to order one of the decadent pastries in the counter and stuck to a ham and cheese croissant (me) and avocado toast (her). Both came out within a few minutes and were delicious. The downside: our coffees didn't get to us and so by the time we finished eating, we had to ask after them. Management, to their credit, were profusely apologetic- and even comped them for us. I had to leave the premises 30 minutes after order time (order 28) and the crew never even bothered to look for my order. Really? What a very poor service from a business that just came to town. Service crew just chatting near the coffee bar and one was even putting make up while sipping beverage on a very busy time when customers are hungry. I've been a huge fan and frequent goer of Tatte in the DC locations and was thrilled when they opened a store in Annapolis. Unfortunately, my visit was far from the standard I've come to expect. I ordered my favorite drink, a pistachio latte, but it was so sweet it was undrinkable. When my partner and I politely asked for a possible fix, the barista's customer service left much to be desired. We were immediately told we'd need to pay for new drinks and, after waiting another five minutes, were instructed that we would need to get back in line to reorder--no effort to problem-solve or make it right. On top of that, we waited 40 minutes for a single breakfast sandwich that never arrived. After 40 minutes of waiting, we had to leave for an event and talked to the manager. My partner and I were very appreciative of the manager who offered a refund for our poor experience; however, we were refunded only $10 for the sandwich. By the end of it, I paid $23 for two coffees that went untouched. I'm so disappointed because I know this chain is capable of better. The staff at this location seemed disorganized and unhelpful, and it soured what should have been an exciting visit. I hope they address these issues, but for now, I won't be back to this location anytime soon. read more

I was excited to learn about a new Mediterranean styled eatery in the area. Coming in for lunch we thought we were being greeted and seated. Ha! Stood there like dolts. I went to find a table and my wife went in search of menus and learning the process. Ha! Since when is New York rude trendy?! The menu was weak. The food overpriced and mediocre at best. The guy we thought was the manager was glued to his cell phone. These folks definitely didn't have NYC speed and no one bussed the few tables that this large space seemed stretched to accommodate. I guess Tatte's business model is they're doing customers a serious favor by existing. Well grandma and her recipes as the marketing hype portrays, does not match up with reality. We were so unhappy we cancelled our plans to give the expensive bakery a try! When the boss gets off the phone mama tell him to buss the tables. read more
