Who needs IHOP when you have The Original Pancake House, so close to home?! Stopped by today for Brunch with my mini me and they did not disappoint. We were seated right away, our server was very attentive and our food was brought out quickly. My son switched things up and went for the Waffle works with a Strawberry Chocolate waffle today and let me tell you he was loving every bite. I opted for my normal Pancake works with Strawberry Pancakes, which were also delicious. It's just something about that Strawberry Syrup and fresh whipped cream! We did have a mishap with the ketchup bottle, so both our hash browns got a little extra love :) All in all we had another great visit and definitely won't be our last!

First timer at the Original Pancake house for breakfast. The restaurant looked clean and it was a quiet Friday morning there. The customer service was okay , I wished the server would have vocally checked in more especially as a solo diner. I ordered the strawberry waffle and the strawberries tasted fresh and the waffle was just your average waffle you probably could make at home.

This is attached to the mall so there was plenty of parking available. The customer service was really good and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I ordered Swedish pancakes and I'm not sure exactly what I received it seemed like thick crepes. I asked them and showed them a picture and they mentioned that this location wasn't aware how they were made at the other locations. It was too thick and not good, so they offered to replace them. i was pretty disappointed because they were the entire reason I went there. I got the regular buttermilk pancakes. They were fluffy and delicious. I asked foresee strawberry puree and they provided me with sliced strawberries. I think this would be a great place with good food for the basics. But I'm not sure how the food will be of it varies outside of french toast/pancake territory.

This is a casual breakfast experience, but they have loads of pancake options and friendly service. So it's giving as advertised, which I love. Luckily I found this place when I did. We were originally heading to a brunch spot that only opened in Sundays. So I love that this Saturday late morning I was able to do brunch. The sliced strawberries was not for decoration, but flavorful impact.

My hunnie suggested we give this place another try before writing them off. Really wanted this to be our go to breakfast spot since they have strawberry crepes!!!!! I just love strawberry crepes minus the eye lash/hair mine has come with in the whip cream!*** I mean fool me once...but I guess since the 2nd time was his sour cream, he suggested we just give them another try... So we decided to order for pick up and hold the whip for me! Hahahaaa!!! & hold the sour cream for him. Today's order was ready when I arrived and was even better when I made it back home to enjoy!! Happy Yelping!

This was my first time @ The Original Pancake House at Annapolis Mall. I had passed it several times & always wanted to visit, so while doing some shopping, the Wife & I said: what the heck. Why not? Keena got Steak & eggs w/ Hash Browns, Banana Pancakes & Coffee. We nibbled off of each other's plates & while her steak was delicious, the star of the show was those pancakes, which I admit, I judged & wanted no parts of. I admit it, I was wrong bc those things were amazing. I got the Country Fried Steak & Eggs w/ potatoes & Blueberry Pancakes w/ a Hot Chocolate(bc it reminds me of what I'd get as a kid - don't judge). My meal was fantastic. I can't pick a winning dish, bc truthfully? The winner was me. The sausage gravy on my steak perfectly complimented it, and my eggs were cooked perfectly. My service was great too, and for as much food as we ordered, there wasn't much of a wait. The vibe of the location was pretty good as well. It was crowded, a little noisy, but nothing that bothered me. Everyone seemed happy & so was I. We'll be visiting again whenever we're in the mood for a good breakfast.

My mom orders from here all the time. I've had solid experiences here in the past, but yesterday was a bit of a let down. Listen -- I get that with delivery, the food might not be piping hot. I am fine with that. However, this was a quality thing. I ordered a burger from here yesterday. And while it was fine, I was disappointed to discover that the hamburger patty wasn't the "half-pound steak burger" I was anticipating. I guess technically it fit the description, but normally when restaurants describe a burger like that, it's a hand-formed, higher quality cut of meat. This was essentially a well dressed Bubba Burger from the super market. I felt cheated. The bacon on the burger was the best part. I also opted for onion rings -- they were solid. I won't be ordering this again and will probably stick to my normal order going forward (the chicken and waffles).

It's located in the mall and it's a bit of a hidden gem when you want a quick reasonably priced brunch or breakfast. Sure it's great anytime of day but we went for brunch. The food came out fairly quickly and was good. Our waiter was great. And it's a pretty good place for families to get together. It's located in the mall so you have lots of options nearby but I'm pretty sure this is one of the anchor restaurants in the area. They do brisk business and the popularity is well earned.

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time this morning. We were seated promptly upon entering the restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and inviting. After we had been sitting down for no more than two or three minutes, our waitress, Nikki, was over to offer us coffee while we looked at the menu. She was very pleasant and personable. I ordered these strawberry crêpes. When I ordered, Nikki asked if I would like any sizes and when I asked her how large the crêpes were, she said it would be very filling and so I opted not to get any size. She was correct! The portion was huge. My husband ordered the chicken tenders and waffles. He is a bit of a chicken and waffle snob so he prefers chicken thighs over chicken tenders, but if the breading and flavoring is decent, it helps make up for it. He said that the breading was very crispy, but could have used a little bit more flavoring. The menu has a lot on it! So, we will definitely be back to try out some of the other options that they have. If you like pancakes, and the other usual breakfast fare, you'll definitely want to check them out.

I was so happy for find out they opened a location in Annapolis. I don't care if it is a 30 minute drive. The pancakes are divine! I love that the bacon isn't thin and see through. The pancakes are chefs kiss. Our server was great. I'm one of those people that want to put on my own toppings to my liking. My server made sure to have everything on the side. She was very attentive and made sure we didn't want for anything.

I've been wanting to try this location out for some time, and we finally got that chance! I've actually only been to one other location in Virginia, and that was years ago, so I went in without much of an expectation or recollection of any other experience. The vibe in here is pretty chill! They have almost diner (Denny's) -like booths with VERY yellow cushions. It had a nostalgic feel about it. The mugs for coffee are shown on the wall and are those hand-thrown looking ceramic jobs... very nifty! We weren't sure what we were getting coming into the joint, but we each found something we liked. The kid got the M&M pancakes off the kid's menu, my wife got the strawberry-nutella crepes, and I got the Hawaiian pancakes. Wife and I got the above as specialty add-ons to breakfast combo meals (eggs + meat kinda deal). Everything... and I mean everything... was delicious! The pancakes by themselves were not sweet, which was perfect! The add-ons and syrup add enough sweetness, personally, and you can adjust to your likes. So, these were a huge win. Mine were AWESOME! There was pineapple in the batter (yum) and the tropical syrup was so good (double yum)! I got mine with eggs over medium (slightly undercooked, but not a deal-breaker), bacon, and fruit (instead of potatoes). These were all great too. But, you know what's special about this place? They have SCRAPPLE!!! LOL! I know I might be in a very limited crowd here, but I really do enjoy scrapple, so I'm always happy to see it on a menu. Plus, they clearly cooked it on the flat top grill, not deep fried like some places do. That gives it the perfect consistency! Not gonna lie, this place was fantastic. And I wish I'd gone exploring for it sooner. It's in a somewhat busy place in between the Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen, but it's less crowded before those two lunch-dinner joints open up. Just watch out for the crazy brunch crowds on weekends. Overall, a great breakfast spot with a ton of flavorful options for your standard pancake breakfast. Looking forward to going back!

Bottom Line: Consistently good service and tasty breakfast. Many months ago my husband and I tried the Original Pancake House on a whim thinking it would be a "one and done" for us but instead it's part of our breakfast rotation. Service has consistently been attentive and friendly. While we're not ordering fancy breakfast, the meals have always been satisfying. I typically get a black coffee and the 2x2x3 which is two eggs, two pieces of sausage or bacon and three pancakes. I get the classic buttermilk pancakes but they offer plenty of pancake flavors including some seasonal flavors. Original Pancake House is located at the Annapolis Mall on the end where Nordstrom used to be and next to California Pizza Kitchen.

We must have come in on an off day for the kitchen. My parents and I came in on a Thursday in August a little after 9 am. There weren't too many people in the restaurant, but the place was packed by the time we left. We were seated immediately. It took about 7-8 minutes for someone to come to our table. I ordered an iced coffee. It wasn't that great. It was very sweet. I ordered the chorizo scrambler (3 scrambled eggs, chorizo, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, onions) with hash browns. I believe the kitchen left off the cheese because I didn't see or taste any. The hash brown was terrible. I wish I would have ordered the home fries instead. The hash brown was blander than bland. No salt, pepper, or any kind of seasoning. The eggs were cooked perfectly. There was a ton of chorizo throughout and it certainly had a bit of a kick to it. My mom ordered the senior pancakes (2 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 bacon). It was a great deal at $8.99. She enjoyed it. Her pancakes were a decent size and were fluffy and delicious. Her eggs were fine. The bacon was cooked a little harder than she likes, but she still liked it. My dad ordered the create your own omelette with cheese and ham, and home fries. My dad cut into his omelet and discovered the kitchen left out the cheese and the ham. Our server apologized and another omelet was brought out within a few minutes. There were huge ham chunks inside and plenty of cheese. He loved the home fries. They were seasoned and crispy. I'm rating 3 stars because of the issues with the kitchen. My mom enjoyed her entire meal, so that was good. Service was just okay. Our server was nice, but not all that attentive. I believe she was one of two other servers at the time (and by the time we got our food the place was packed), so that's probably why. The music was also entirely too loud. I could barely hear my parents speaking to me. I'd probably return again to give this place another try since this was my first visit.

I should take a step back, parking when driving east is literally right past the restaurant in the back. I personally think it's almost invisible that way, there is a sign but it looks like it's pointing to a grassy field (my SO felt the same way). I turned up further and U turned and it's more clear going west. The parking says free but the people caravaning with us got dinged for parking being free until 3 (we were there after that) which was not well advertised (SO only figured it out online) and there were no gates or cards when we went in free that I saw. I guess that's not really the restaurants fault but it did sour the experience a little and worth knowing getting there. Anyway, the waiting area is big but it's fairly narrow so if you're not on the bench you're sort of awkwardly standing in the middle of the entry area. But since it's big there wasn't any colliding with people unlike other places I've had to wait. There is outside seating but it was not available the day we were there despite it being 60-70s. Their menu has a good mix of breakfast and lunch foods. My first complaint is that a lot of the stuff is a lot. They don't have a lot of non-complex foods (e.g. plain hamburger) which may turn off some folks notably kids. That said their kids menu combo was pretty diverse itself, both kids with us seemed pleased. I got a pulled pork sandwhich with sweet potato fries. I also saw best pancakes in the country advertised so got 2 pancakes (apparently they have a short stack I did not see on either manu) which I felt was good to know. I was pleased with all my food, though it was understably messy. However, given the length of time it took to seat as well as eat, I did not think it was any better than IHOP or Dennys. So comparing price and boasting, does affect my rating. I suspect some of the price hike is location, perhaps they can afford to do that, they definitely had plenty of customers! NOTE: Usually I'll describe other peoples food but our party was big. No-one had any super remarkable praise or detraction which is another reason for the 3* leaning. If we had not been driving through, hungry and specifically targetted this place I'm not sure we would have stayed. When we left we were not hungry and were happy but I am hard pressed to give more than 3* since it didn't feel memorable just long and expensive. That said, 3 is average, I would eat there again if in the area or even recommend people to try. But I also know that strip has a ton of stellar foods, so...likely you could also find better places even for brunch :)

I made a takeout order and got the crab cake omelette (w/ a biscuit) $18.29, legendary scone: Blueberry $3, single blueberry pancake $2.89, single maple bacon pancake $2.89, and single cinnamon roll pancake $2.89. - The crab cake omelet was my 2nd favorite as they surprisingly didn't skimp on the crab additions. The biscuit was just alright, but luckily it's best once combined with omlette to make a good sandwich. - The blueberry scone was probably my favorite, as it was pretty good. It was moist, fresh, and well done. - The trifecta of pancakes ranged from just okay to decent, and my ranking would go blueberry, maple bacon, and then cinnamon roll. For some odd reason, the texture of the cinnamon roll pancake was notably inferior to the other 2. Overall, my experience was quite a good one due to the scone and crab omelet delivering the most. -- #issa.cheatday

However, the chicken was breast meat and sliced thin, which made it come across as dry. I did tell the server I liked it and didn't go into much detail since she seemed very busy and I didn't want to add stress in the moment. Still, it's not something I would personally order again. The waffle situation was more frustrating. I initially received cornmeal waffles, but I had told my server ahead of time that I strongly avoid cornmeal. She said she would substitute them, so I was surprised when the plate came out with the original cornmeal waffles. I didn't realize at first and ended up taking a bite before noticing. I let the server know and she had the kitchen remake it. The replacement Belgian waffles were overcooked and dense, so they didn't really improve the experience. The butter though was genuinely delicious, just very rich and more of a holiday-style flavor than something I'd personally crave in warmer weather. I also had a basic cup of coffee made with Rise Up Coffee Roasters, which was $4.50. That felt overpriced for what it was. I could have walked right across the street and had a specialty coffee from the source for very little extra cost, which honestly would have been the better choice. Overall, the experience had some clear issues, especially with the waffle mix-up and consistency, but it wasn't completely disappointing. I just don't think I would personally order the same meal again.
