Shrimp & Grits
Ashlee S.

Worst First Watch experience! I've visited several First Watch locations and this is by far the worst one. From the wait time to the hosts to the servers. We were quoted a 30-50 minute wait time which we understand given it was the Saturday before Father's Day but the hosts didn't do a good job of seating people as tables cleared up. When we were finally seated, our server took nearly 10 minutes to greet us and when she did she said she would be back in 5 minutes. That made no sense given she didn't have anything on her tray. She could have at least taken our drink orders. I guess another server could sense our frustration so he came and asked if he could place our orders. We really appreciated this and were able to order our drinks and food. Our original server never came back to check on us or say a word. As far as the food goes, I got the shrimp & grits which was a huge portion and pretty flavorful. I also appreciated that they substituted the andouille sausage for chicken sausage since I don't eat pork. My one issue is that the onions were not cut up. There were huge ringlets in it. My dad got the market hash which he enjoyed but it's pretty hard to get wrong. For drinks, the mint iced coffee was delicious but there was more ice than actual drink. They should tone down the ice so people get more of what they're paying for. I did the pomegranate sunrise which was much sweeter than I thought it would be. In terms of the actual restaurant, it's one of the smaller First Watch locations and it doesn't have a bar. There are a ton of large booths for large parties but they were seating parties of 2 at some of them. Overall, I don't plan to visit this location again.

Always a true winner at everything they do and they do it very well! The Holiday Menu features some items that relish in Cheesecake, Cinnamon, Lavender and Cane Sugar. The customer service is top notch and depending on location and time of day, you are never going to want for much, meaning I needed some syrup and as soon as I look up there it was. Warm and thick.

Took a chance in going there after listening to folks say it was just all right, but my experience one morning was pretty good the food was good and my waitress was good. I had no complaints and I will go back.

We stopped in for a quick bite. I ordered the Club and the way it was worded I was led to believe the bacon was turkey bacon versus pork bacon....not. Explained the situation and a new sandwich was quickly brought to the table. I was impressed, the server left the original sandwich on the table...so I knew the sandwich was freshly made. The service was excellent t and the ambiance was low key Sunday family oriented.

Went here before going to the movies and loved their fall menu. Got the pumpkin spiced pancakes, chicken sausage, eggs and the sunrise drink with alcohol in it that my friend and I could split. Everything was delicious and the service was great.

Not our first time at First Watch, but first time here at the Bowie location. No one likes a wait but it was suitable enough. Took about an hour for a table but service was quick and good. Food was great. Pancakes are always a great size. I think I am a strong eggs critic but the eggs were okay. Ambiance was cool. Lost my shades! :( Overall, First Watch always is good food with family feels. 8/10 Food-8/10 Service- 8/10 Ambiance- 10/10

I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture I will say since it's a rather small place the wait times can be long so it might be best to make reservations.

When I arrived they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't so they asked us to hold. I was worried we wouldn't get in but was very happy they found space for us. I must say everyone we encountered were very friendly (a tad slow at times but made up for it with friendliness). Their signature sweet tea is to die for - the mint infused delight was so great it was worth a second glass! The milk and honey latte was a hot cinnamon joy as well. I ate the smothered chicken and biscuits. It has a slightly spicy Cajun sauce, I got to pick the style of eggs and I opted for scrambled. Good choice! The biscuits (2) were soft and the chicken and eggs paired with them well. The chicken was a bit tougher to cut so they should offer people a steak knife or something sharper than a butter knife to cut it. But that is a mild complaint because the dish was delish. I also tried the berry French toast. It was super thick and, while it was a bit light on berries, the flavor was good and so was the syrup. One of the two slices tasted a bit on the greasy side but I still ate quite a bit of it. I finished the meal off with a fabulous sweet potato bread pudding. I love bread pudding and this was my first sweet potato variation to the dessert. Me likey....me likey a lot! This is my new favorite bread pudding, hands down!

Food and service so good you'll forget you're in a mall parking lot!…read more We were out running errands and decided to grab a bite. Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? You should make the drive to Waugh Chapel Station and get some fresh, delicious, better- than-home-cooked food.

When we arrived, our table appeared to be ready right at our reservation time, but we still had to wait to be seated. It wasn't a long delay, but it was a bit confusing and felt like a service issue. The ambience is beautiful and well done, and the bathrooms were clean. The food itself was solid across the board, and the chicken and biscuit was actually even better the next day as leftovers. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest drawback. Refills only happened when we asked, and splitting checks for a large group was more difficult than expected. At one point when a correction was needed, a member of our party noticed the server visibly rolling her eyes, which didn't help the experience. Drinks are also served by the can rather than fountain style, which made them feel overpriced without refills. For a place that presents as upscale, the experience shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed. Overall, nice atmosphere and good food, but the service needs improvement before I'd consider returning.

It's a Caribbean spot with a full brunch menu, so yes, the food takes a little time... but that's part of the experience, not a flaw. Given the size of our party, the service held its own. It was steady, attentive, and friendly without feeling rushed--which honestly matched the vibe perfectly. If you come in expecting lightning-fast turnaround, you're in the wrong mindset. Come to enjoy your time. Now let's talk food. I ordered the steak, and it did not disappoint--well-seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the real surprise? That biscuit and butter. Listen... I could've made a whole meal out of that alone. And the mimosas? Nice and light--exactly how our group likes them. I didn't get the oxtail and grits, but I didn't need to. One look across the table told me everything I needed to know--full-on bowl-to-the-chin action. If you know, you know. It wasn't overly crowded for a Sunday, but the weather had randomly dipped back into winter mode after teasing us with 80 degrees, so I'll give them that. Overall, great experience. There's a small Wyndham hotel next to it, so if you look up and see the Wyndham signage, you're in the right spot! I've never dined at this spot and it's been here for YEARS! I believe it started off as a Howard Johnson's many moons ago, but don't quote me on that..LOL. The restaurant itself is really nothing to look at. It's seems more like a diner than a restaurant but it's surprisingly large, just a little outdated. I sat at the rather small bar since I was there for HH. The bartender was extremely pleasant and attentive. I ordered the wings and bacon wrapped dates that were on the HH menu and I also ordered the calamari which was on the regular menu. I must say, the calamari and bacon wrapped dates tastes as good as any I've ever had! The wings were very good as well. The HH priced margarita was extremely good and $4 off the regular price!
