Had a another wonderful experience at First Watch this morning. Was greeted at the door almost immediately. Name on the list and to my table within 10 minutes. I went here over the weekend for my birthday. Side note: join their e-club! You get a free meal with the purchase of one... great way to save money! Okay. Back to the review. I came here over the weekend with two friends. Unlike many restaurants, they don't take reservations in advance. Instead, they have a daily waitlist. You can easily join the waitlist online instead of calling. I joined the waitlist 40 minutes prior to my arrival time (the waitlist was 45-1 hour wait). I checked in once I got there and I was told they would text me once the table was ready. I believe 15 minutes later it was ready. I ordered the Trifecta with eggs, chicken sausage, and a waffle. I also ordered a side of potatoes. The waffle is a standard Belgian waffle but it is the berry compote that makes it amazing! Ahhh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Scrambled eggs were scrambled eggs... the chicken sausage patty was deeeeelicoous! The season potatoes unfortunately lacked seasoning. I had to add salt and pepper to it. And the oil they used or something didn't taste the freshest to me. So I deducted one star for that. I definitely say they are worth a try. Their menu had a lot of different options. Each time here, I chose to sit down, always crowded and loud and the wait was rather long but that was balanced out with how delicious the food was and fresh. Over the years, service has definitely changed. The portion sizes have gotten smaller and the quality of ingredients seems to have taken a hit. Today I ordered the following: Smoked salmon and veggie frittata with a side of seasoned potatoes: the salmon frittata in itself had a good flavor, but like another review pointed out, you do not taste herbs and for me, I barely had any tomatoes but the overall flavor profile was good. I can not comment on the seasoned potatoes because I was instead given a few pieces of lettuce without any lemon, dressing etc . Side of fruit: everything was fresh, however the portion size was very small considering the cost. Side of sliced avocado: very small portion, very small. Would I come back to this location, more than likely not. I will however give another location a fair chance before ruling out First Watch altogether. read more

I ordered the Sunny Seoul Hash which has shaved seared pork tossed with freshly seasoned potatoes, diced red bell peppers, kimchi, Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Perfect, but it gets even better! The hash is topped with two cage-free eggs cooked any style (I chose scrambled), scallions, sesame seeds and gochujang aioli. I paired the meal with the Purple Haze drink (Lemon, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea and a hint of lavender). I've also experienced dietary requests being missed such as not using cheese. The employees are nice, it just doesn't seem like they take the time to understand what is being requested. Today an item was missing from my online order, I called, I was put on hold, only for them to tell me I could come back later to get the refund manually processed or to call corporate. I get that the rules have changed, but now due to their mistake (yet again), I have to either waste gas to return to the location or waste time on the phone with corporate...over $5 bacon. We have come here so many times and each time we keep saying it's our last and like suckers we think it will be different and go back. The service was lackluster, the waitress had too many tables and didn't write anything down. She forgot our water, our sugar free syrup and when I asked for half and half she gave me a bowl of French vanilla and hazelnut cream instead. Our grits and bacon came first and 10 minutes later the rest came out cold as if it had been sitting around and someone forgot to bring it to us. The new Blueberry muffin pancakes were cold and hard on the bottom. Not good at all and that's why I wanted to come. We had to wait over 5 minutes after we got our pancakes/French Toast to actually eat because our waitress forgot our sugar free syrup and by then the food was just way too cold and not good. We asked for containers and I was grossed out seeing the waitress walk around giving her other tables things with our containers under her arm. (The place where the food sits was literally tucked in her armpit) After getting 2 new under arm free containers we packed our uneaten food and left defeated. I love First Watch but unfortunately I do eat at this location anymore. There is a 90% chance that if you order to go, your food will not be ready at the pickup time. And if you eat in, you will wait 40 mins to be served. I try to take in account that there are staffing shortages however it's hard to justify spending your money there when you see the waiters standing around. My last straw was when I ordered the farmhouse hash to go and when I got to my destination, seeing 1/3 of the container filled. Came in for a quick breakfast pickup after a Drs appointment and the customer service is still superb! There contactless payments, the menus are discarded after each customer, the pens for signing your receipt are sanitized after each customer and there is PLENTY of hand sanitizer to keep everyone clean and safe. There is inside seating and the social distancing is in full effect. Food: I have always enjoyed the food at First Watch Bowie. I eat there at least every two weeks- Kudos! Ambiance: The new restaurant layout is great and provides excellent ambiance. Service: My challenge is with my experience today at the entrance. I was there @ 10:30 am. There was one young lady at the front (probably relatively new - I had not seen her before). She got backed up - still every nice - but when the person I believe was the manager, came to assist her, the way he spoke to her was unacceptable. She was both checking out people and adding people to the waitlist. The manager took this time - when the young lady was about to seat the three of us (including my 80 year old friend) - to "train her" delaying her ability to lead us to our table. And there were still other customers that needed assistance. When I checked out, she again was doing both the register and waitlist. After about 15 minutes of waiting to checkout the manager finally came to the register to assist the young lady. When I paid a compliment about the young lady to the manager - crickets. The manager definitely needs another lesson in customer service. read more

Came to meet friends from out of town. Anyplace with eggs/omelets are good for keto diet. Seated quickly, server was nice, but food quality and speed definitely not great. So 2 stars mostly due to the atmosphere and the server. Our friends were there well before us and ordered bacon and donuts, but those hadn't come out yet, with our friends even commenting they wondered where the order was. We all ordered, i ordered a ham and gueryere(?) Cheese, pretty basic no modifications except no sides. After a bit, server came back and said they couldn't make it because they had no ham. I said just make it without ham (seemed reasonable). But that must have been too much because my food was way delayed. 3 meals came out together (5 of us total), our turkey sauage then came out... then a extended wait (other order was a cheese omelet) by this time others are 1/2 done, sausage cold. Finally one omelet came but not mine. By the time mine came everyone was already done, sausage ice cold. Also the lack luster omelet was flat with a slice of cheese on top, maybe one inside if so couldn't tell. Tasteless, had to add lots of salt and hotsauce. Would have taken a picture but was starving (just finishing a fast). Would not go again if I have a choice. Coffee was good :) read more

This update is a downgrade for First Watch. My wife and I have always enjoyed our meals here. Their food is fresh and innovative. There's always a twist to the ingredients in their recipes. Their tasty uniqueness is what draws us here.  Unfortunately, we got a disappointing dish this time.   We tried some items that were new to us, the Smoked Salmon & Roasted Vegetable Frittata, the Cauli-Rizo Breakfast Tacos, and a Purple Haze juice. The Smoked Salmon & Roasted Vegetable Frittata had Wild Alaska Smoked Sockeye Salmon, roasted shallots, and tomatoes topped with Parmesan cheese, a chive cream drizzle and fresh herbs. It was served with ciabatta toast and a side. The side choices were home fries, cheesy grits, buttered grits, side salad with lemon vinaigrette, or toast. We picked the side salad. The salad was just a mix of different lettuces and vinaigrette, nothing else. This was ridiculously minimalistic as far as salads go. It'd be funny if I wasn't paying for it. The smoked salmon in the frittata had great taste and texture. The eggs were cooked well, but it was typical tasting. That's because there were hardly any roasted shallots, herbs, or cheese present. This frittata could have been great. The chive sour cream drizzle was fine tasting. It and the salmon helped save this dish from mediocrity. The ciabatta toast was a breadstick cut in half lengthwise. I do mean breadstick, that's not a typo. It was toasted and buttered. It was good, but they should give more than one piece. Not much food in this dish, so if you're hungry, don't get this!    The Cauli-Rizo Breakfast Tacos had chorizo-spiced cauliflower, scrambled eggs, Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, and fresh, seasoned potatoes on three wheat-corn tortillas. They were topped with fresh avocado, lime crema, pickled red onions, and cilantro. It was served with seasoned black beans or you can pick a different side dish. We picked home fries. The home fries were fried and seasoned well. This was a good example of home fries done right! The tacos had a great combination of flavors and they were somewhat savory even though there wasn't any grilled meat in them. This dish was very satisfying and filling. It can be found on their brunch menu. I recommend it.    The Purple Haze juice had lemon juice, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea, and a hint of lavender. The flavor was like a tasty lemonade with a hint of lavender and tea. The tea flavor was like green tea. This can be found on their brunch menu.    The dining room and restrooms were clean. The service was polite, helpful, and attentive especially since this restaurant is always busy for breakfast. The service and food have always been excellent until this visit. I'm lowering my rating a star for now, even though the frittata dish was very disappointing; because all of our previous visits were great. We plan on returning and I am still willing to recommend this restaurant. read more

I have come here a few times and if i did recommend this place I would point you to the omelette because I don't think they'll mess that up. The presentation of food was terrible and the French Toast was over cooked to the point it was hard to cut, the pancakes were not as good as pancakes you buy from the grocery store in the box. Let me start by saying I am a regular First Watch customer even when First Watch was only in CA and FL (St. Pete-both restaurants, Tampa, and Miami). So I was surprised and excited about the Bowie location opening. I didn't have much to complain about (outside of waiting a long time to get your food) at this location UNTIL NOW.   Yesterday 7/5/21, was HORRIFIC. There were MULTIPLE failures. Not just with the UNEDITABLE food (Florentine Eggs Benedict-SEE PIC), but with a DISTRESSING situation that neither the Host nor Manager on Duty handled adequately.   I HOPE after this review, First Watch will make the appropriate changes and take this as a coaching opportunity for ALL of their employees.   At approx. 11:30 am on 7/5/21, I checked in with the Host. Shortly after that, I started to feel a bit faint. I asked her if I could get some water because I felt faint. Her reaction was, "LET ME CHECK-IN THESE CUSTOMERS FIRST." So I waited, IN DISTRESS, while she checked in MULTIPLE customers.    Her cavalier attitude towards a customer WHO WAS IN DISTRESS is disturbing. That response was NOT NORMAL. Checking in customers should have NEVER taken precedence over a customer in distress.   I took it upon myself to find someone who worked here to get me water. One of the waiters finally got me some water. I sat down and started to feel better.   I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER. IT GETS WORSE FROM HERE....   The Manager on Duty (I guess that's who HE was) finally came over. Our conversation happened in front of EVERYBODY waiting to be seated. I explained what happened and wanted to understand the policy for situations like this clearly. I also asked for the name of the Host, His, and the Waiter who got me water. (I plan to write a formal letter to corporate).   He stated that First Watch's policy was to dial 911. This is interesting because all I wanted was water, but the Host certainly DID NOT follow that policy either. He kept asking me LOUDLY do you want me to call 911. I said no, now that I have WATER I'm fine, which I told him several times before.   I explained my concern that I had to wait for water until the Host checked people in.   HE STATED that she is doing the best she can, and we are very busy. And then he said loudly, "I'M SORRY SHE COULDN'T PUT YOU FIRST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE" as if that was the issue?   His response didn't make sense. Again he said, "I'M SORRY SHE COULDN'T PUT YOU FIRST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE." I can only conclude that he was trying to be impressive, or what he thought was clever, to other customers by humiliating me condescendingly and sarcastically. His response SHOULD HAVE been, We're sorry that we couldn't get you help faster and that you had to get help on your own.   His focus should have been more on the distressed customer who didn't get what they needed...WATER...simply WATER.     NOW FOR THE FOOD.......   I ordered Florentine eggs benedict. The first time it came out, it was over-poached. The center was EXTREMELY HARD. They made it again, and well, look at the video. HORRIBLE! The eggs were practically RAW. AND the avocado was left off.   Finally, I asked to speak to the manager again and explained ALL of my concerns.   Eventually, my breakfast was comped for the meal errors, but it should've been comped from the beginning (in my opinion).   MULTIPLE TRAGIC blunders in one visit is UNACCEPTABLE.     IN CONCLUSION.....   What took place at First Watch on 7/5/21 was TRAGIC. It was a blatant disregard for humanity as there was NO EMPATHY OR HELP for a First Watch customer in need.   If the restaurant has a video, it needs to be observed for quality assurance purposes. I do hope to hear from corporate because this was horrific!   I genuinely hope that this does not happen again to another customer and that First Watch takes this as a coaching opportunity to ensure this does not happen again.   If not, NEXT TIME, the result could be even worse for that First Watch customer. read more

Great place for breakfast! They have Crab & avocado, toast on their seasonal menu and it's really good! It's lump crab meat, avocado and pickled red onions. It also comes with a basted egg. I would've preferred poached, but it was still really good. I always get the Works omelette which is really good too. It comes with Ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes with cheese and topped with a dollop of sour cream. Everything tastes fresh & flavorful. They got me again. Went there this morning with my daughter. Everything was fine until the food came out. I got the short rib omelette. They short rib meat was scorched! They is no way that someone took that meat out of the microwave or the off of the grill without smelling how burned the meat was. Seriously, it tasted like someone had dragged the omelette through chittering juice . I sent it back and the waitress said the manager offered to make a new one. I expect the manager or at least the chef/cook to come to the table and explain what happened. Otherwise, why would I want another one? It was terrible.
