Breakfast Burrito with egg, cheese, bacon, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and ranch dressing.
    John L.

Opened in 1980, this counter service cafe is a third generation family owned business that is a local favorite for breakfast and lunch. The previous owner's daughter and her husband run the business now. I saw their ad on the Yelp app and decided to see what keeps them going for so long. My wife and I bought 4 items for breakfast. 1) Breakfast Burrito You have to pick the ingredients for the filling. It comes with eggs and one choice of meat. The choices for filling can be found under salad toppings on their menu. A few of the choices have an extra charge, like green peppers and mushrooms. My wife chose bacon, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and ranch dressing with salsa on the side. The burrito was big. It's not as big as a Chipotle burrito, but it costs less. The bacon was crispy, savory, and not too salty. The amount was just enough. This combination of ingredients was quite flavorful and of good quality. The salsa tasted like a store bought salsa with fresh chopped onions added. It was not worth buying. You can make a great burrito if you pick the right stuff. 2) Home Fries The home fries had chunks of potato that were either small or very large. Better prep work is needed. They were lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. They tasted fine in a typical way. 3) Half-smoke Platter with Chipped Beef It had one deep-fried half-smoke, 2 eggs, home fries or grits, and toast. The half-smoke was tough and chewy on the outside because it was deep-fried toooo long. This was just an absurd way to cook half smokes. They're supposed to be grilled. The meat had a good blend of spices and seasonings, but it was a bit salty. It probably would have been good. I ordered the eggs cooked soft scrambled, and it was done right. You can add toppings to your eggs, home fries, and grits. Extra meats and sides can be added to platters. Very nice options! I added chipped beef to my home fries. The chipped beef had thinly sliced tender beef in a creamy sauce. It had the flavor of prepackaged creamed chipped beef at the grocery store. The sauce wasn't rich tasting because it lacked butter flavor. It was okay, but I've had better. FYI, creamed chipped beef on toast is called SOS by some veterans. It stands for "Shit on a Shingle" or "Same Old Stuff." It was a staple in army mess halls in WWII. The choices of toast were white or wheat. There's an extra charge for other bread. They have honey wheat, multigrain, rye, Kaiser roll, croissant, English muffin, and bagels. I picked wheat. It was buttered and typical. 4) Coffee It was a strong, heavy coffee blend. It wasn't bitter, but it had a bit of an acidic burnt flavor. This is middle of the road diner coffee. They have half-and-half creamer and flavored creamers. No milk or alternative milk choices. The employees were friendly, polite, and helpful. Orders are taken at the counter. The food took about 10 minutes. The place was old and decorated with wall displays of boxing matches and area boxers. The two dining rooms and restrooms were old, worn, and relatively clean. I see why they've been here for so long. It's a simple place that has a large variety of food, snacks, and cold drinks for breakfast and lunch. The food can be good. The prices are fair and quite affordable.

Food is good! Your usual mom and pop breakfast! BUT the service they are friendly & make you feel like family!

I have gone to Casablanca off and on for about the past 6 years for breakfast. I found the food pretty good, they are 10 miles from my house and the biggest plus for me is that they open at 5 am in the morning. So this morning I tried to order a breakfast sandwich online so I didn't have to make the drive. I tried to order online however the actual Casablanca website said I had to wait until they were open. Hmm it was 5:30 am and they opened at 5 am?? Oh well, I will drive the 10 miles there. I get there, and there is no line and only 2 customers seated that are waiting on their order. I go to the cashier I order a Pepsi, a small salad and a "ribeye steak sandwich w lettuce, tomato and A-1 sauce". I specifically ask the cashier to have my sandwich cut twice cross-wise. Cross-wise like a "plus sign +", or the letter "X". Cross-wise like a BLT. I just recently have had some dental work and it is a lot easier eat a sandwich in smaller pieces. So I ask the cashier to have my sandwich cut into fours. I open the foil before I leave out and guess what it is only cut in half. So I go "BACK" to the cashier and ask her to please cut it again into 4's. So she takes it to the chef and he cuts it. She brings the sandwich back to me in the original foil that she first gave me the sandwich in, and the sandwich is falling out of the bottom because the chef cut thru the foil. I ask for another piece of foil around the sandwich because the foil is falling apart. So she puts the sandwich in another piece of foil. So now the sandwich should be cut into 4's. I open the foil up and guess what !!! The sandwich is still cut into only 2 pieces OMG !!! So for the last time, I approach the cashier and say very nicely would you please understand I want the sandwich cut into 4's like a BLT. Cashier went BACK to the chef again and he cuts it the correct way. So then this shorter guy that works there comes up asks her what is going on. Mind you everything was cordial. Cashier tells him that the customer "me" wanted the sandwich cut into 4's. He then says to her ok only this time but never again in front of me. I say to him hey I am asking for the same 2 sandwich cuts I would get from a BLT and he snaps no, we don't cut twice WITH A SCOWL. WTF this over a second cut ? So on the website it states I can order a BLT and add ribeye steak on it !!!!! WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE., SAME THING, DAMN. I would tell you I will just order a BLT add steak to get it cut both ways.............But I am done with this Casablanca Café. I will go back to Marlboro Grille, Keith's Café or Ritchie Road Deli here on. All of drama over an extra cut for the customer with arrogance, never again !!

First and last time ordering from here. Initially I ordered a salmon breakfast sandwich which was sold out..so I just ordered a steak & egg sandwich on croissant. I don't like anything burnt, which the bread is. Bread options should be.. slightly toasted, not toasted, burnt Egg had tooo many shells

Chicken philly omelet, toast and home fries. "Omelet" was just folded egg and chicken, no cheese or anything.

Ordered breakfast for delivery today. I requested the chicken philly omelet and was disappointed when I received folded egg and chicken. No cheese, peppers, onions, just dry chicken. Home fries and toast were fine but the egg was salty. Not at all what I expected.

#4 Chipped beef on toast w/ side of sunny side up eggs
    Leichardti F.

Had the #4 Chipped beef w/ home fries and a side of sunny side up eggs. Didn't mind the long wait since the food is cooked to order. Finally got my food and started eating the home fires, completely bland. I liked how the toast for the chipped beef was cut up into little squares so I didn't have to cut anything. But whoa, can you say salt lick? The chipped beef was way too salty! I tried to mix my eggs into it but one of my eggs was completely cooked! Sunny side up Ithink not. I barely ate half and had to throw it away.

My only complaint is that the food is too salty which we Amerikuns expect and love as our blood vessel linings get damaged. blood pressures rise, and congestive heart failure flares. However, from the start, the service felt disorganized. There was confusion at the front with seating, and guests were being moved around while staff seemed to be sorting out table assignments in real time, which came off a bit unprofessional. After being seated, we waited about 10-12 minutes before being acknowledged by our server. During that time, service already felt slow across the board, as even nearby tables were experiencing delays. When our server (a lighter-skinned woman with twists pulled back into a ponytail) came over, we were told several menu items were unavailable after we had already attempted to order them, including drinks and fresh fruit that were still listed on the menu. As someone who has worked as a server before, I feel communication like this should be handled before service even begins. Items that are 86'd should be communicated during pre-shift meetings and clearly shared with guests upon greeting the table so they can make informed choices upfront. It helps avoid frustration and gives guests alternatives before ordering. Our food also came out not hot at all--it honestly felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while and was not up to standard. Overall service remained inconsistent, with limited check-ins and needing to flag staff multiple times. While the bus staff was friendly and helpful, the overall experience fell short in organization, communication, and quality, especially for a first visit.

The waffle situation was more frustrating. I initially received cornmeal waffles, but I had told my server ahead of time that I strongly avoid cornmeal. She said she would substitute them, so I was surprised when the plate came out with the original cornmeal waffles. I didn't realize at first and ended up taking a bite before noticing. I let the server know and she had the kitchen remake it. The replacement Belgian waffles were overcooked and dense, so they didn't really improve the experience. The butter though was genuinely delicious, just very rich and more of a holiday-style flavor than something I'd personally crave in warmer weather. I also had a basic cup of coffee made with Rise Up Coffee Roasters, which was $4.50. That felt overpriced for what it was. I could have walked right across the street and had a specialty coffee from the source for very little extra cost, which honestly would have been the better choice. Overall, the experience had some clear issues, especially with the waffle mix-up and consistency, but it wasn't completely disappointing.
