    Corned beef hash omelette
    Kenny D.

I was excited to finally get to Marie's following all the rave reviews I heard from people and read on Yelp. Ultimately, for me it was a mixed bag. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and in true diner lore I observed them being even more engaging with the regulars. I ordered a corned beef hash omelette and grits. The grits were solid but I was less impressed with the omelette. While I appreciated the significant bang for your buck with a huge omelette worth twice the sticker price on the menu, the meat was perhaps too plentiful and overpowered the eggs - making the dish less balanced than I prefer. The eggs also lacked the "real eggs" consistency and taste I love. It was ok, but when I cannot finish a dish that says a lot - I have a huge appetite after all! I am, however, glad my table mate said they have delicious cakes. When you first walk in there is a display of many wonderful looking cakes, and they do taste as good as they look. I tried a slice of chocolate and a slice of blueberry lemon. They were both succulent delights, making it a darn near certainly that I'll be back to the diner even if only to buy more cake!

First time here and definitely won't be our last! We came during the snow storm and called ahead to make sure they were open. Their lot was cleared of the snow and ice, but they were packed with people! We walked into a warm restaurant with lots of smells hitting our noses. We glanced to our right and found a whole case of desserts which looked so appetizing. We got seated almost instantly and had a great waitress named Kim. She knew the 6 paged menu like the back of her hand. We took advantage of some of her favorites, and they didnt disappoint! I ordered the iconic sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy was definitely homemade and poured generously over the top of the freshly made biscuits. I also got 2 eggs and some scrapple. Kevin had the chicken fried biscuit pictured on the menu and subbed loaded brunch potatoes for his side. The portions for everything were way larger than expected and caused us to have leftovers. We will definitely be back soon! Jake n kev

We were greeted by our server and immediately seated. The place was actually more crowded than we thought it would be on a weekday evening. Ordered two fried chicken dinners. Each came with two sides plus a side salad and a biscuit, for 10.99. The food was average, but considering price and the amount of food, a great value. Not super fancy, definitely a no frills place. But if you're on a budget and super hungry this is definitely the place for you. Weekends during brunch hours are typically packed, so maybe try a week day for a shorter wait time. Oh, and how can I forget...the cakes. For the price point, serving size, and taste, these cakes are definitely worth trying. Whether they're home made or not is up to you to decide, but for cheap eats....no complaints here!!

This charming, family-run spot may be small, but it delivers big on flavor and hospitality. The food is consistently excellent, and the customer service is top-notch. The biscuits are absolutely incredible, and the steak is cooked exactly to your preference--mine was medium, and it was perfect. Be sure to try a mimosa; they're delicious and come in a variety of flavors. Arriving early is a good idea, as there can be a wait, but trust me--it's well worth i

This place never disappoints. The food is delicious, portions are beyond generous and the prices can't be beat! We purposely take a longer route when traveling through to make sure we grab a delicious meal no matter the time of day!

Marie's Diner offers that warm, Southern, home-style vibe with generous portions at incredibly reasonable prices. I've tried everything from breakfast to lunch and dinner, and every meal has been excellent. If you're planning to visit, definitely check their website to join the waitlist ahead of time--there's usually a bit of a wait, which speaks to how good the food is. The seating can feel a bit tight, but the delicious meals and great service more than make up for it!

Today I finally visited and was a bit disappointed to see the underwhelming interior where it is strictly carry out and cheap metal guest chairs to wait on while the food is prepared. But it's really about the food right?! Meh. It was very hit and miss. I ordered the (4) sliders with grilled onions. They were slightly charred which was nice, and they were juicy, but they could have been cooked a little more (they were like medium to medium well and I prefer well done - I should note they didn't ask how I preferred my burgers cooked). I also ordered their jumbo fried wings and picked sweet and sassy sauce. The sauce was tasty and the wings had a nice texture, but beyond the sauce the wings had a plain flavor suggesting they didn't season the wings before frying and then coating them with sauce. Overall the food was solid but not awe inspiring. I was less impressed with their cakes. I ordered a strawberry slice and a carrot cake. The carrot cake was moist and wasn't bad at all. I've had much better, but it was edible and satisfied my sweet tooth for the day. The strawberry cake however was dry and grainy. Perhaps it was old. It was definitely a waste of $7.99! On a Saturday afternoon, the wait time for a table for two was about 20 minutes, which is fairly typical for the weekend rush. Once we were seated, the overall atmosphere was comfortable, but the service left a bit to be desired. Our waiter was polite but very slow to make rounds, and it took quite a while to get refills or check in on our order. When it came time to pay, the checkout process dragged on for nearly 15 minutes, which definitely tested our patience. That said, the food itself was delicious and came out hot and freshly prepared. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was worth the wait. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned, while the waffles were light and golden with just the right amount of sweetness. The butter was a pleasant surprise--rich, creamy, and flavorful enough to stand out on its own. Everything tasted freshly made, and the presentation was neat and appetizing. Overall, IHOP in La Plata is a solid choice for a casual dining experience when you're craving hearty comfort food. While the service could be faster, the quality and taste of the meal made up for it. For about $18 (before tax and tip), you get three selections and two sides, plus biscuits and cornbread ,which is definitely a good value for the quantity of food. I chose the fried chicken, meatloaf, and chicken & dumplings with turnip greens and mashed potatoes. The restaurant was pretty empty, and while the country store area is always charming, the dining room itself felt very cold .....literally. I will say my waitress, Tamara, was amazing. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure my drinks stayed full. Truly top-tier service. As for the food, it just wasn't good. The fried chicken was crispy but had a strange, almost watery taste. The meatloaf was dry and not appetizing. The chicken & dumplings were the only decent item, but it's hard to mess that up. The greens and mashed potatoes tasted old, and even though the biscuits and cornbread were warm, they tasted like they'd been baked earlier and reheheated. The peach sweet tea was good, though. I usually come to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because their pancakes (with the crispy edges) are good. But lately, even breakfast hasn't tasted as fresh as I remember. It could just be this location, but overall the quality feels like it's declined. The value is there for the portion size, but the freshness and flavor just aren't. I hope it's not the brand overall, because years ago Cracker Barrel tasted hot, fresh, and truly country. This visit just felt old and reheated.
