We had a table of 6. The food was very good. We had the steak with Chimmichurri Sauce, the Smash burger, a breakfast smash burger, a crab cake sandwich and the lamb chops. All items were delicious. The service was top notch. We came to see Ty. It was worth the trip from Georgia for such fantastic service. He made fantastic suggestions that were spot on. I found myself at Silver Diner for breakfast with some colleagues for breakfast before our conference started. We eyed it the night before while driving into National Harbor, and thought it would be an ideal place to go - so off we went. Silver Diner is a chain with several locations in the MDV area. It wasn't crowded when we arrived shortly after 8am, so we were seated right away. The space is large with a combination of booths, tables, and a counter - very typical diner. There was a hint of retro vibes here, and as a whole the space looked great. Like many a diner, the menu is extensive with a variety of cuisines. The breakfast selections were pretty standard, but we noticed they offered some specials on weekdays that consisted of a breakfast dish, coffee, and juice. We all decided to order a special - and I went with the jack cheddar cheese omelette. I had a choice of meat to add (I went with sausage), and the dish also came with hash browns and a biscuit. The food itself was good - solid diner fare. The reason why I'm giving such a low rating is that there were major breakdowns in service. Coffee service was relatively slow, we did not get any juice nor were we asked to order it despite being part of the specials we ordered, my colleague wasn't offered any breakfast meat with her dish despite it being advertised as it being included, and my dish was served with a side of fruit instead of hash browns. These were fixed, but there was just a multitude of misses that really impacted the meal. Perhaps we came on a bad morning, but my experience at Silver Diner wasn't the best. I was in town for a book festival and stopped through for an energizing breakfast before a long day. I was pleasantly surprised by the options for me as a gluten free pescetarian. I had avocado toast with gluten free bread along with some eggs and fruit. The price was a little high but the breakfast was indeed filling and good. Great breakfast experience at the Silver Diner at National Harbor! We were able to walk in around 8am on a Friday morning. Perfect timing apparently because when we left there was a line waiting about 10 deep. Our waitress was pleasant and professional. She took our beverage orders quickly and returned to take our meal orders. There were 6 of us. Our meals came out pretty fast and everyone's order was accurate. The prices were reasonable. I think I expected a markup because of the location. There were even specials on the menu. Okay. I had Belgium waffle, bacon and eggs. While it wasn't life changing...it was delish. My meal was fresh and hot upon arrival to the table. I love that it was nicely plated with garnishes. A little fancy! Silver Diner is located at the main entrance of National Harbor, in what was the former Elevation Burger. Interior is surprisingly large and even with this space, there was a 15-minute wait due to a large event happening in the harbor, so I decided to sit at the counter. Menu is reasonably extensive and includes all-day breakfast. I ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast with and coffee, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The eggs and coffee were average, with the bacon being good and the sausage link was thick. Home fries came with caramelized onions that were a pleasant surprise. Pancakes came with warm syrup. Service was good, and overall, this was a decent stop, with the biggest problem being the price. With tip my breakfast ended up being almost $30 and that's high even for this area. Breakfast was just ok this visit . I felt like it was a waste of money. The pancakes were dry and almost seemed like they came out of the freezer and went into the toaster over. The fruit was fresh and sweet but the only thing that was good to me were the eggs and bacon. The bacon was the star of the show. It had a maple sweetness to it and it was cooked to perfection. My potatoes were sorta dry-and overloaded with green onions. My waiter was pretty nice and attentive, she kept my water refills coming so I didn't want to give her a hard time. I came to visit the national harbor, and my family decided to stop by Silver Diner for a quick bite. The service was very nice, friendly and quick. They were able to accommodate my entire family (10 of us) into one table. The ambiance was very nice, mellow and cozy. As for the food, it was very delicious. My entire family enjoyed what they had. Our waiter was very kind! I had the tuna melt, and it was delicious! The toast itself was very warm and toasty. I also had some of my mom's açaí bowl and it was so yummy. They got it right!!! We were seated in what I call the VIP section. There's a few tables in the back by the bar which I thought might be a different place at first but I was happy to sit there. What they got right, almost everything but especially the volume on the music. The volume is the best I've ever heard anywhere anytime in life (at an establishment). And it may have just been me but the playlist was personal. I wasn't in my feelings or anything like that but it was my kind of music. Definitely had a Gen X vibe going. There are few things that have yet to miss at SD. 1. Mimosa & 2. Iced Tea. Both of these are always on point and I thank you for your consistency. What is a hit or miss is the chicken sausage. Often it's dry, mostly bc there's less fat in chicken but it is never bad. The food overall was good so there was no complaint there. The only complaint I have is how long it took to get service once seated. I can't really complain about how long it took to get a seat because it is the holidays and people gotta eat and there aren't a lot of full breakfast places here so I expected the wait to be seated. I didn't expect the wait for service to be as long as the wait to be seated. In their defense, there were only two people working the whole bar area. Brunch all day at Silver Diner absolutely delivered! The mimosa flight made with sparkling wine was FIRE -- refreshing, smooth, and beautifully presented with flavors that actually tasted distinct instead of watered down. A perfect brunch starter and definitely Instagram worthy. The food was equally impressive. The pancakes were buttery, soft, and literally melted in your mouth with every bite. Eggs were fluffy, bacon had that perfect crisp, and the breakfast potatoes were seasoned and cooked just right. Portions were generous without sacrificing quality. The atmosphere was clean, modern, and comfortable with a great brunch vibe. Most importantly, the staff was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and kept the energy upbeat throughout the visit. After checking out of the hotel Sunday morning, we had a late breakfast at Silver Diner. There was about a 45 minute wait for 2 for inside seating. We were seated in about 35 minutes! Once we were seated it took a little bit for someone to come to our table with water and ask for our drinks, so we made sure we knew everything we wanted to ask for at one time. We ordered our meals and they came out in a decent amount of time for how crowded it was. We both enjoyed our meals. I loved that they had healthy options. Silver Diner is spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of tables and booths. They even have an area with seating near the kitchen, kind of set up like a bar. Another visit to Silver Diner, and another fantastic experience. As usual, this location at National Harbor was hopping, but after only a short wait, we got a booth and dug into the menu. We got the chicken pot pie, a kind of deconstructed dish with the potted chicken served like a stew with two large halves of flaky pie crust on top. We also got the steak and eggs, and the avocado toast with eggs. And we finished it off with my favorite dessert - the World's Smallest Sundae. Good food and good fun, as usual. In National Harbor has a really spiffy and nostalgic diner called Silver Diner. The place cooks eggs raised in their area, along with a lot of vegan options. The plus is they even have turkey bacon! I rarely can find a breakfast spot that can cater to me not being able to eat beef or pork due to my religion. It was really nice! My brothers and mom loved their food, especially me. I haven't had pancakes in years. It was definitely a treat trying theirs with two eggs and turkey bacon! Swung by here for Happy Hour after a long day. The ambiance was pretty typical for any Silver Diner location. The waiter at the bar side of the restaurant almost tripped me up giving the wrong time for Happy Hour to end, but I showed her the correct time outlined on the menu. I ordered the Old Bay Wings ($8 for 5 or 6 halved wings), Avocado Toast ×2 ($6 each), a margarita ($8), and an Angry Orchard ($4 or $6). I was very pleased with everything. The Avocado Toast (had no idea that could be a Happy Hour menu item) was the clear winner! Very tasty & delicious. The wings were good too but I think were a bit too small for my liking & slightly overcooked. The sauces with the wings were amazing (I probably should've took some to go). The drinks were good. I ended up getting another drink on the house randomly so I appreciated that I would definitely come again for Happy Hour when it isnt gloomy & raining outside. Stopped by Silver Diner for an early dinner and hopefully so they would redeem themselves for my first visit. We got wings, crab cake sliders, steak and eggs, etc. all was soooo good!!! If you are going to get a drink, just opt for a glass of wine. Do not bother getting a mixed drink. This Silver Diner is easy, family friendly, obviously a cute vintage diner vibe/theme and the staff is super nice. I appreciate being to able to go somewhere local that has attractions but I am also able to eat affordably and with a child. The first time I went here was on a busy Saturday night for dinner with my sister and our daughters.. it was A MESS. Good food but literally a mess! They ran out of chicken wings and didn't bring me any. My 2y/o never got her drink.. so forth and so on they def made up for it this visit. I will be back! read more

Truly - I had trouble deciding because: -Avocado toast (I mean, obviously) -Warm roasted veggie salad (beets, squash, brussels sprouts, peppers, pecans, dried apricots, sunflower seeds) -Thai cauliflower quinoa pasta (!!) -Meatless taco bowl (barbecued Beyond Meat, guacamole, pickled ginger, and a variety of other festive toppings) -Just Egg Benedict (vegan eggs, tempeh bacon, veggies, vegan cheese sauce) -Just Egg breakfast tacos (similar to the taco bowl, but also includes vegan egg and comes with roasted corn, squash, and quinoa salad) -Oat milk protein pancakes (served with blueberries, pistachios, vegan whipped cream) -Most of the sides are also vegan I mean, how's a girl to choose? Our experience started off poorly and unfortunately never recovered. When we arrived, the host, Brandon, never greeted us or welcomed us. We simply stood there until he finally acknowledged us. There was no "Good afternoon," "Welcome," or "Thank you for coming." We followed him to a table, he handed us menus and walked away. He also automatically handed the children kids' menus without asking if they wanted them. They didn't, so my daughter had to get up and get the correct menus herself. The irony is there are multiple negative reviews online about the hostesses at Silver Diner being unwelcoming. As we were leaving from the restroom, I asked a group of young women who had arrived before us and sat behind us during our visit whether they had experienced the same thing with the host Brandon. They said yes. They told me rhey stood there for a while. Finally, he simply looked at them before saying, "Follow me," with no greeting or welcoming attitude. The biggest issue, however, was how my daughter's ID was handled. I was highly perturbed about this. My daughter turned 21 two weeks ago. She presented a valid, unexpired MD driver's license when ordering a cocktail. The only concern anyone raised was that it was a vertical license and not a horizontal license. Our waitress, Catherine (sp?), said she had to get her manager. Her manager Cabetha (sp?) then had to consult with restaurant bar manager Mario. At that point, ordering one drink had turned into what felt like an investigation. The license clearly showed my daughter's DOB and that she was 21. It was not expired. Yet we were made to wait while it had to be debated whether to serve her simply because the license was vertical. Additionally, my daughter's license is Real ID certified (this could have been proven online). I explained that she had just turned 21 and even told them I was her mother. Mario responded that my being her mother didn't matter because they had to verify the ID themselves. I understand the importance of verifying identification, but the way this situation was handled made my daughter feel as though she had done something wrong when she had presented a perfectly valid MD driver's license. I get that a business can refuse to serve alcohol if they aren't comfortable accepting an ID. However, show me the MD law that prohibits someone who is 21 or older from buying alcohol with a vertical unexpired license. Maryland law lists a MD driver's license or ID card as acceptable proof of age. Eventually, they allowed the cocktail. However, I should have been enjoying my family and a meal, not going back and forth with two different managers about a vertical unexpired license. Mario later checked on us twice to make sure we were OK, which I appreciated, but the damage had already been done. To be fair, our waitress Catherine was pleasant throughout the meal. She also caught and quickly corrected an overcharge on one of our drinks as soon as we pointed it out. I appreciated that she handled the mistake promptly. Unfortunately, between the unfriendly welcome from the host, and the unnecessary ordeal over a vertical MD driver's license, this was not the dining experience I expected. read more
