I visited on a Friday for late lunch. I parked in one of the nearby garages and walked to the location. There was no wait and I sat at the bar, and it had a great view of the water and wheel. The bartender was so really friendly and attentive. I ordered a frozen margarita and the birria quesatacos. The portion was small and the price is pretty expensive; BUT I can confidently say that those were the BEST tacos I have ever eaten. Came here for brunch on Saturday. You're not limited to brunch menu. Restaurant had nice views (natural light) with high ceilings. Nicely decorated interior. Service was semi-attentive. Lots of seating - seemed ADA friendly. Ordered: *Queso dip ($13) - my friend who doesn't like queso thought it was amazing. *Baja tacos ($17) - really yummy (some taco had too much lettuce/green), good size fish the price for 3 tacos seems eh. *Tres leches French toast ($18) - average (not anything amazing), could've skipped ordering, wouldn't order again. *Steak tacos ($22) - yummy (price for 3 seemed eh). *Guava colada ($7) was delicious - would absolutely order multiple of these since they were sooo good. This place has the best guacamole I have ever tasted! They make it right in front of you in a molcajete and you can choose your spice level! I wasn't the biggest fan of the enchiladas as the red sauce had a marinara flavor, but that didnt take away from the rest of the wonderful dining experience. It was a last minute decision, but I decided to do bottomless brunch while I was at the harbor for a convention. I made a reservation with little effort and was even able to push it back last minute when my friend and I were running a little late. We went in and got settled right away. Our timing was perfect, as it was 1:30 and there was a 90 minute limit for bottomless brunch (which ends at 3:00). We could pick from mimosas, sangrias, frozen margaritas, bloody marys, and the La Tradicional which is a very fancy and yummy margarita on the rocks. I tried everything but sangrias and bloody marys, and loved them all. As my entree, I got the bacon, egg, & cheese torta. It was a solid, tasty sandwich. And I have to say overall I enjoyed everything. Was I blown away? Not necessarily... but did I love the vibes and how great the service was? Absolutely. My partner & I came for brunch on a Sunday at noon. There were few people in the restaurant when we arrived. We were quickly greeted by the hostess and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. It seems they were having issues with the AC. So we chose to sit inside, were seated at a booth, and were quickly tended to. Who doesn't love Rosa Mexicano guacamole? It is SO GOOD! That's the first thing we ordered ... spicy guac! The salsa is good as well. My partner is a chips & salsa maniac. I'll handle the guac! She ordered a mimosa flight. I just ordered the mango mimosa. I could have gone for more champagne and less mango juice, but I'll take it. My partner ordered the huevos rancheros, and I got the bacon & egg torta. I think both orders were Rosa Mexicano's take on the dishes. The huevos rancheros didn't look like I expected them to look, but my partner really enjoyed them! The torta was tasty. The bun was very soft and flavorful. You can't go wrong with bacon & eggs! It also had a sauce, I don't recall what it was, but it added to the sandwich. It came with fries. Four stars for the service! My server was awesome once she finally got to my table. I waited for about 15 minutes for anyone to come bring me water or take my order. By the time someone showed up, I was ready to order. Now, for the food. I used to come here, maybe once every month or two when I first moved to this area. I really enjoyed this restaurant then. I hate to say this, but it has definitely fallen off quite a bit. Chops and salsa: chips need a little bit more salt and the salsa is bland. Guac: healthy portion size. Very fresh ingredients. Made it your table. I needed a little bit of salt. Chicken enchiladas: this really hurt my feelings. I used to enjoy these, but I would say these were a solid 2.75 to 3 stars out of five. They were cold, and the flavor was nothing like I remember. These were not as good as they should've been or as they used to be. Tortilla soup: lots of chicken and avocado, but the base was giving a burnt/roasted flavor and it was very oily. I wouldn't repeat it. Overall, I think this is the type of restaurant that gets visited by the conference goers in the area. It's definitely not the type of place. I would recommend my friends and I go to anymore. The ambience inside is very busy. I do recommend making a reservation if you do want to go. I've been here a couple of times for business meals and it's not too bad. Definitely have some things on the menu that are misses, but the stuff that's good makes up for it in my opinion. The fresh guacamole is really good and it's a huge portion! We always order at least 3 of them for the table. I've ordered the birria tacos and was slightly disappointed due to how small the tacos are. They taste good but leave you wanting more. If you have chips and salsa before, it may be enough food. I personally prefer the fajitas. They have a lot more food and also taste really good. Careful though because they are really REALLY hot (temperature wise). I burned my tongue a little when I had them due to how hot the bowl stays. The churros for dessert was good if you're craving a little something sweet after your meal. The service here is typically good. We are typically a larger group so they're usually pretty quick for how many people we have. The server this past time was a little pushy on trying to get the group to order more drinks than we wanted. We kept insisting that we were good with our 2-3 drinks each. The ambiance is nice. Overall a great experience for upscale Mexican food with a small hiccup that was quickly amended! Came here in March for a conference dinner. The price point is a lot steeper than a typical Mexican diner. However, the whole National Harbor area is expensive. We got appetizers of chips + guac and nachos. The guac was . We also had chicken enchiladas which were also delicious. For entree, I ordered Tampiquena which was recommended by the waitress. The steak was amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the whole meal hot as my food mistakenly got cleared when I went to the bathroom. Luckily, the owner was kind enough to pack me a replacement meal to go, which I ate the following day. The churros as dessert were crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside. Very well done. I would rate them higher if they communicated better. Last time we were there they didn't tell us there was an AC issue until we were seated. Let us make that decision. Everyone was complaining. Didn't even try to give us a discount for our troubles either. Much improved and lovely!! They've done some reorganizing of the space and it looks a bit more generic but the flow for guests and waitstaff is TREMENDOUSLY improved. There were no insane lines even near peak dinner times. I recommend the cheeseburger tacos, though be warned as I was craving them again for days afterwards. Rosa Mexicano at National Harbor (Saturday Brunch) We had such a great experience at Rosa Mexicano this past Saturday. The Mexican Fried Rice was incredibly flavorful. I didn't even need the sauces that came with it. The guacamole was made fresh and paired perfectly with the warm, crispy chips. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of. We were seated immediately, but we arrived at 11:30 a.m. because the weather was beautiful and we knew it would fill up fast. The view from the outdoor seating area was just perfect. Overlooking the water, the Ferris wheel, and the lively National Harbor scene made for an amazing brunch atmosphere. This is a spacious spot with seating available in both the bar and restaurant areas. When we arrived, there was a 25-minute wait, but the lobby had plenty of seating to accommodate us. True to their estimate, we were seated right around the 25-minute mark. Our waiter promptly brought chips, salsa, and water. He answered our questions and took our order without any issues. My wife chose the chicken enchiladas, which came with a generous amount of flavorful sauce (maybe a little too much). There were two good-sized enchiladas served with a side of rice. She thought they tasted good but mentioned she would have preferred a red sauce instead. I went with the Fajitas Molcajete (Steak & Shrimp). It arrived sizzling, which was a nice touch. The steak and shrimp were served on a bed of sautéed onions and bell peppers, accompanied by tortillas, rice, and refried black beans. While the presentation was appealing, I felt the $40 price tag didn't quite match the portion size--there were only four strips of steak and four shrimp. My wife and I were going to DC and stayed at National Harbor only to go to Rosa Mexicano. The last time we were there we went to Rosa Mexicano for dinner and liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch. This time it was a terrible experience. We sat at the bar, there were 2 bartenders...and they were both terrible. We ordered margaritas and 2 ice waters. It was 80 degrees out so we were thirsty. The margaritas came right out...the water we had to ask several Times and still didn't get it in a timely manner. They kept making mixed drinks for other people. We ordered Guacamole, Queso, and the salsa was free. We got one serving of chips that came with the Salsa. They never came back to check on us. We didn't get chips with the Guacamole nor the Queso. We sat there with no drinks (we had already consumed our first margaritas)...queso, Guacamole, and Salsa with no chips left. We were going to order dinner, but they never checked on us. The one bartender was making drinks for the restaurant and didn't t check on anyone. The second bartender disappeared several times and started to wait the high tops! Since we had no drinks, chips, or ice waters....we paid our bill and left. It was also Happy Hour, and neither bartender told us and we did not get the happy hour menu. We only knew it was happy hour by the people coming in with Happy Hour Menus. When we stopped by the Hostess stand to Look at a Happy Hour menu. When we went to hostess stand to look at the happy hour menu, she did not have one, and was painting her fingernails!! This restaurant was terrible. There are many other options in the area. The bar was not crowded...they were simply bad at their jobs. This is a chain restaurant, so there's probably little to no oversight. What bothers me most is we stayed in National Harbor solely for Rosa Mexicano.... We could have stayed closer to Cap one. read more

Rosa Mexicano does a lot of things well. -Guacamole en molcajete: artfully prepared tableside with fresh avocados, jalapeños, red onions, and cilantro - super tasty. -Chips and salsa: the chips are sturdy which is very important for transporting large scoops of salsa from bowl to mouth. -Ambience: artfully decorated with liberal touches of pink. A few areas for improvement: -Lack of vegan options. While there are many dishes marked vegetarian and gluten free, the only actual vegan items are the guacamole and the jackfruit fajitas. None of the starters, empanadas, tacos, soups, salads, ceviches, enchiladas, or signature dishes are vegan. While I'm sure the jackfruit fajitas are lovely, when dining at a Mexican restaurant I anticipate having the option to choose. I really wanted tacos, however our server informed me none of the offerings could be made vegan, so instead I opted for the roasted mushroom enchiladas without cheese. The enchiladas themselves were delicious - excellent flavor with perfectly cooked mushrooms. The salsa verde wasn't my favorite - very tart, which overwhelmed the rest of the dish. -Speed of service. We were seated quickly, however it took more than a few minutes for our server to arrive, there were large gaps in between the timing of menu delivery and return for orders, and when we were ready to leave we had to proactively flag down someone to deliver the check. Pricing is in line with other restaurants in the area - a little steep but not catastrophically so. Overall Rosa's is fine, but it needs to add more plant based options and focus on streamlining the service. read more

Four of us ate dinner here on a Friday night. There was a 45 minute wait and the time was pretty accurate. It is a loud and large place. My friends had the fajitas which they really liked. I had fish tacos and was more than disappointed. The fish in each taco was less than the size two half dollars. Very small and a lot of batter. My friends and I shared the guacamole, which is freshly made and so good!
