Combo Steak and Shrimp Brochette Fajitas
    Kevin E.

Absolutely amazing. Stopped in for lunch with a coworker, our 1st time here. We were kinda worried when we arrived to an empty place but we ordered. Food was fast to come out a was amazing. I had a shrimp and steak combo. By far the best steak I've ever had at a Mexican place. 10/10, will be back!

The place was spacious and can cater big groups. They have bar area and indoor seatings available. But apparently they also have an outdoor which I didn't see at the time we visited. The staff were fast and accommodate us immediately. Got us a seat as soon as we enter the restaurant. We went here on a weekday night so this probably why not too busy. All of the food and drinks we ordered hit the spot like we are in Texas again. Food was good and will surely come back again.

We've been to Dos Jefes (2 Chiefs) three times. It's like a bar and grill with lots of TV screens. There's a deck out back too. Last night they were playing Carribbean music at a good volume. Service is consistently very good, including nice touches like sweeping crumbs off your table and promptly taking away used dishes between courses. Dos Jefes's exterior sign indicates the cuisine is Tex-Mex. No, it isn't really; it's Salvadorean. Unfortunately, prices are very high. For example, the Azteca steak (carne asada) is over $27 (not $25.95 as shown on the website menu). Three tacos are gonna be over $15. The one dish I can recommend is the birria beef tacos. These are deep fried and served with some kind of thin red sauce (not consommé as the menu advertises). They have a good flavor and lots of meat. The Chile Con Queso is a Velveeta-like cheese sauce with bits of red pepper. It has a good flavor, but last night the tortilla chips accompanying the queso dip were somewhat burnt. The Ground Beef Enchiladas with red sauce come with Mexican rice and refried beans. The enchiladas are not bad at all even though they have very little red sauce. The rice, with bits of vegetables like scallion, peas and corn, is just so-so. The refried beans were excessively salty and inedible. The horchata was definitely not Mexican horchata. It was curiously dark and tasted like peanut butter.

    Mango margarita, medium spicy guacamole

A whole in the wall joint you have to try at least once. We came in right when they opened and sat at the bar. We only ordered margaritas and guacamole. The area is a little sketchy but we decided to still give it a try to say we did on our self created bar crawl for Sunday football in Alexandria. My mango margarita was great!! I wouldn't steer you wrong on this. The guacamole was excellent!! We ended up getting 2 orders...Medium spicy. We decided to head to another place to get wings but I'm glad we tried it and the bar tender was attentive and friendly. He even changed the tv to our preferred game.

Love the food at this neighborhood restaurant. I recommend this place to everyone. Good service and a nice atmosphere and they have a back patio for outdoor dining. Happy Hour is 3-7 M-F and they have all day Happy Hour on Mondays & Wednesdays. Don't park in the pizza place parking lot next door, they will tow you.

Service was decent . Food was also decent. We went twice and both times had bad stomach issues after. So can't recommend. Prices weren't bad. Drinks were pretty good also.

I came here for lunch with some friends because I love. Tex-mex and wanted a margarita. The restaurant is located within a small strip of a few other businesses, however the parking lot is divided by poles, so you'll want to be sure you enter the lot on the same side as the restaurant. When we got there it was pretty quiet which was fine by me. The waiters were very attentive and nice. I started with a passion fruit margarita which was really good. One of my friends got a bloody Mary with tequila but didn't like it, take that for what it's worth since she didn't get it with vodka. Chips and salsa come with the table which is nice. My friend ordered queso and chips, I wasn't a fan of the queso, you can probably skip it too. I ordered the lunch tacos carbon with steak. The tacos were really good! The steak was juicy, tender and flavorful. My friends enjoyed their meals as well and had positive reviews. Overall I would definitely come back for more margaritas and the food, just not the queso. Salud!

I visited 2 Jefes on a late night and it was as a good experience. I had the sangria margarita and the chicken quesadilla. I will definitely be back because the food was delicious! The service was quick mainly because we were the only ones in there lol.

I'm constantly seeking out great Tex-Mex. My cravings for nachos, enchiladas, tamales, and queso runs deep. While I was delighted to find 2 Jefes, I wasn't 2 thrilled with the food. The chicken burrito was just OK, nothing too exciting. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I was also disappointed that they were out of the draught beer I ordered. Prices seem to be average. Service and atmosphere was good. Plenty of parking in front. My next visit might be to check out their happy hour!

Came here with friends and solo on Taco Tuesday, which is a good deal. Service at the table was a little slow, understaffed, but didn't have any issue at the bar. The place is what you might expect from a tex-mex place. The parking lot is small for the number of businesses here, so don't make the mistake of parking next door at Old Chicago, but you can park across the street.

Dos Jefes is a new Tex-Mex restaurant in town, taking place of the old Pilar's. When we entered, we were welcomed warmly and were seated right away. It really does make a difference when everyone is dressed with a smile! The menu offers various appetizers, soups, salads, fajitas, taco platters, Tex-Mex items, seafood/chicken/steak/vegetarian options, and desserts. They also have a brunch and a lunch menu. We ordered: +the Carne Asada Fajitas - comes out in a sizzling platter with sauteed tomatoes, green peppers, and Spanish onions, with a side of Mexican rice, flour tortillas, a bowl of a la Charra beans, and a plate of guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream; it also comes with a little cup of Mexican butter, and OMG, this makes all the difference in the world! It was this nice garlic-y drawn butter and it just added a whole level to this meal - YUM! +the Beef Chimichanga - filled with shredded beef, this came with a side of Mexican rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream; I requested mine to have refried beans and cheese inside, but not sure if they forgot to include them; I did have queso on top, which was a delicious touch! The chimichanga is more like a lightly pan-fried burrito, so I wish they actually deep-fry them (or, if that even was an option) You get complimentary chips (that are thin and crispy) and chunky salsa. A great addition to the Huntington area - would love to go back and try out the rest of their menu! Plenty of parking in the strip plaza lot. +Mexican butter! +items can be customized +friendly staff! +parking in strip plaza lot

You know the place is solid when the table salsa is flavorful and fresh. Top tier service. Great local spot.

Our server was quick, friendly, and kept things moving without making us feel rushed. They actually have a true happy hour menu. Not one of those "$1 off" situations, but legit deals across both food and drinks. Everything we ordered hit. The margaritas were refreshing, well-balanced (not overly sweet), and definitely did the job. For food, we kept it classic. The tacos were simple but flavorful, with tender, well-seasoned meat and fresh toppings that didn't overpower anything. The nachos were good but in my opinion, the portion size wasn't worth $11. Everything tasted fresh and came out hot, which I always appreciate, especially during a busy service. The vibe outside really pulled it all together. It's one of those spots that feels lively without being chaotic...perfect for catching up, people-watching, or just unwinding after a long day. You can tell it's a go-to neighborhood spot for a reason. I'd definitely come back--especially for another round of margaritas and to try more of the menu.

The background noise is pretty high. That said, I'm challenged in writing a glowing review. Last two times that I have went there (most recently last weekend) the food was underwhelming. I've not ever had fajitas where green peppers weren't included in the dish, except this last visit. To the waiter's credit, he pointed out that they were not included on the menu; I am still surprised. They emphasized fajitas as being a featured item on their extensive menu, and reviews seemed quite positive, so hey...why not give it a try? We arrived around 4 and sat at the bar. We were the only customers at the time which seemed a little odd since it was a Friday and a very pleasant day outside. We were greeted by the bartender/server and given complimentary chips and salsa, both of which were quite nice. We also had basic salted rim jalapeno margaritas, which were ok. Not bad, not outstanding, they were poured out of a large plastic jug. We then opted to split the steak and shrimp fajitas with the usual accompaniment of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, refried beans and rice. For $28.99, this was a huge disappointment. 3 shrimp and 5 strips of thin beef with fried onions and a few peppers. The shrimp was actually tasty and very well seasoned but 3 shrimp? Please. The steak was difficult to evaluate since the pieces were so tiny. The refried beans, rice etc were fine, but the dish was overall a total disappointment and a terrible value for the price. There was only one other party of people that came in during the entire time we were at the restaurant which I feel is telling. With so many other Tex Mex options in the DMV, I would not consider returning to Dos Hermanos again.
