Haven't eaten all day. It was late night after driving for what seemed forever. Bartender was awesome. I ordered a side Caesar salad, new England clam chowder, and their crab sandwich with fries. Food just wasn't great. Considering I haven't eaten all day, I feel like that's saying a lot. The Caesar was ok but I wouldn't get it again. The clam chowder .... Nope, had way better. The bartender said they were known for their crab cake. Um their sandwich wasn't horrible but I wouldn't get it again. They should of had some tartar sauce with it... the fries were actually pretty good. I had a ginger beer there and that was good as well. This is a short review, but I think this is only my second time coming here. I stopped by for happy hour and ordered the lychee martini--and wow, this thing was amazing! It was so good it actually reminded me of the lychee martini at Jinya, so 10/10. I was honestly surprised to see it on the menu (maybe it's seasonal?), but I'm so happy I tried it! TLDR: Chadwicks is your typical divey local watering hole spot in Old Town Alexandria offering up variety of food. Would recommend for game watching but keep the bar of expectation mid to low. This was my wife's and I first time visiting Chadwicks we came here as a JMU Football location. The first critique was we came in and was told the TVs were at the bar sections and we sat at a table in the section but the host failed to inform us that we needed to ask the bartender for menus and silverware. We literally sat for like 5-10 minutes before I went back to the hostess to ask and that's when I was told. This interaction is on the hostess not the bartender. On to the food, we were here for brunch hours and I opted for the Monte Cristo which was recommended by the bartender that and the home fries were really good. The chowder lacked salt and pepper big time but once we added, it was decent. The clams in it were a bit chewy for my liking. My wife had the Au Jus she said she liked it but it was dry in some areas. In all I would come back here for sure to bar dive or to watch a game and grab a pub-ish bite. This was my second time visiting Chadwick's. Monday night, after a long night at work, and was expecting chill vibes but basically getting ignored by a bartender is never fun. I put in my drink order, to a passive bartender, and even tho I actively had a menu in my hand, she didn't ask if I was interested in ordering food and moved on from me very quickly. A good amount of time passes before I could put in a food order. The food was good but the service was really lackluster. My sister joined me later in the night and we were both attempting to get the attention of the bartender to no avail, to the point where my sister got up and went to the car to wait for me to pay the tab. The whole experience was really soured by the service. I unfortunately doubt we'll be back. read more

I ordered a local beer and it was honestly one of the best beers I've ever had. I would suggest there fried green tomatoes as well from the appetizer menu they were really tasty. I also like this place because it's right by the water and u can walk around after your meal and enjoy the views . First time visiting DC, first time staying in Alexandria, Chadwick's was the very first restaurant we tried in the area. We stayed at Hotel Indigo, right down the block, and walked here for dinner after a late flight and hotel check-in. Food was great, service was meh, location is excellent. Parking would have been a challenge had we not been staying at the hotel, which included a garage parking space. Overall, I'd recommend trying Chadwick's. This place is a perfect place to go for a happy hour. I thoroughly enjoyed the crabcakes and the buffalo wings. They were cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is perfect to go after work. They have also really great prices for drinks like $5 drafts. Overall, my favorite food has to be the crabcakes and the apple pie with ice cream not picture because I ate it all. :) I highly recommend you check it out and the parking is not too bad. read more

I opted for the spicy chicken egg rolls and chicken francios with a side of home fries. The egg rolls were amazing, Crispy and hot. The chicken francios was good but i wasn't blown away. The French toast had a ton of butter sitting on top of it so it made it soggy so I wasn't a fan. The play list they had going was great. We had our Bookclub meeting here last night and it was great. The place was pretty packed so we sat outside. The waiter was very nice. The appetizers were delicious, we had the crab dip and the green fried tomatoes. I ordered the salmon with rice and green beans, it was maybe missing a sauce on the salmon but that than that it was cooked to perfection. We stopped in here per recommendation of a Ferry Boat worker after we got off of our Potomac River tour. Good call on his part. Upon entering we were met by Nick who was tending bar. We sat at the bar and the experience began. What do I mean by experience.... Just a pleasant conversation with Nick who made us feel welcome into this foreign place. I had read a few reviews about this place and decided to come for dinner... As we walked in, there was a guy lounging on a chair right at the entrance, who asked us if we were looking to have dinner...we said Yes. He grabbed a couple of menus and showed us to a table....the odd thing is that he was not standing up waiting to greet people like most hosts would....but lounging....LOL. Chadwick's will always have a special place in my heart because it is where my husband and I had our first date. We have also continued coming here throughout the years. It has a great location near the water and a varied menu. They are open for lunch, dinner, as well as brunch. It is also a big place so typically not a wait to get a table, there is an upstairs as well as a downstairs seating area and a large bar. This time we came with a couple friends for dinner and we were sat downstairs in this side area. It is almost like an enclosed patio with a big front window, stone walls, and lots of pretty string lights coming from the ceiling. In my opinion it's the best area to sit at for ambiance. We started our menu with a round of drinks as well as an order of the Spicy Chicken Egg Rolls. They were warm and nicely fried served with a sweet chili sauce. A first we weren't given small plates so it was bit challenging to eat and dip until we asked and got some. But overall a solid starter. For my entree I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken which is typically a Fried Chicken breast, bacon gravy, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and a biscuit. You are able to swap the sides for whenever of your choosing so I got veggie of the day (broccoli) instead of slaw. It was a nice sized portion, but the taste of some components left a little bit to be desired. The chicken was moist and had good breading. But when fried chicken isn't on the bone it just is not the same. There was absolutely no seasoning on the broccoli. Thank goodness for the bacon gravy which was tasty and honestly wish I had a bit more of it. Their Mac and cheese wasn't anything special, but was fine. My husband however got the Short Ribs entree which were braised birria short ribs, consommé, mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach. He let me have a few bites and honestly he won dish of the evening. It was a well plated and executed dish. Everything on the plate worked well together and the consommé was so flavorful and helped to elevate everything else. Horrible service at the bar on a Sunday afternoon early. Not super busy. Rude women behind the bar, to us and other people. "I'm hard of hearing so speak up" in a very rude way to a dad with his daughter picking up food. He was shocked. It was embarrassing and uncalled for. Bar tender bothered by having to do her job. Drinks were awful. Simple tequila on the rocks with muddled limes (nope, she didn't do that), instead we got the tequila on the rocks with ONE wedge of a lime and a slice of orange. I came here without reservations they didn't have any open tables downstairs but told me I could go upstairs to the bar and place my order and possibly sit outside. Fortunately, there was a table available outdoors. The table was dirty and needed to be wiped down, which no one did by the way. I ordered the Francois with a brunch cocktail (can't remember the name). The food was good, but definitely underwhelming nothing to write home about. I was also taken aback when I saw the small portion. The drink was ok. Another con was they only have one bathroom area and in the women's bathroom, one of the stalls was out of order. A Dear friend of mine, Family use to own other locations in Washington DC area, her Beloved Mother was swindled by A Crocked Attorney from Washington DC, and During my time of working in Old Town. I do recall some very pleasant occasions at this location, although at times there were staff members that were not always polite or friendly to my self and other guest I may have brought in for A meal and perhaps even if we stopped in for cocktails. I do recall A bartender and I guess A Barack who were so ill mannered to put in as polite as I can be, I do recall the food as being acceptable. however if I am paying for the experience of the establishment I want to feel as if I will be treated with respect and kindness when putting out close to be $750 .00 dollars for A group of six for dinner and cocktails, I was left with the feeling not to attempt to come back, I wish the establishment well , but will take my guests and credit cards or cash to the Chart House , I truly am treated with respect and manners , and also made to feel welcomed. Been here a few times since i have lived in Alexandria. They have great drinks, delicious food and an awesome bar staff. There is one bartender who works here who has become almost like my go to guy. He make you feel so welcomed. Depending on the time of the year will determine the atmosphere. Siring football season you have the commraderie of xheering for your sport.
