Great casual American brunch spot with an upstairs bar located in Old Town Alexandria by the water. I ordered the Eggs Chesapeake with cheddar grits ($24), which was like eggs benedict with crab cakes. It was delicious and the cheddar grits were good too. Paired together, it was a good portion size and the price was reasonable considering the amount of crab. My only slight complaint is there were a handful of small crab shell bits in there. I also tried the Fried Green Tomatoes ($11), which were pretty good as well. The place itself has a nice chill cozy vibe with an old fashioned wooden theme. There are 2 levels to the restaurant with a bar on the upper level. The staff are very friendly and the service speed is quick. Overall, I would definitely recommend Chadwicks for a good casual brunch in Alexandria.
This is a staple in our rotation. This restaurant is always busy but not "you can't get a table" busy. Went on a Saturday without a res, party of four seated in 10 min. Drinks are all great. Food is always quick and tasty. The burgers are wonderful. The salads are fresh and I didn't get cyclospora ... winning. A tad loud but overall, fast, friendly, and a good local spot.
This is a gold mine for delicious and local seafood! Probably the best lump crab cakes I've had definitely! The fried green tomatoes here are on par, if not better than most we have in South Carolina! Ambiance is excellent and right on the waterfront.
First time at Chadwick's for brunch and let's just say I'd easily go back! Our server was amazing, she took good care of us from start to finish. I enjoyed their espresso martini with my steak and eggs off their brunch menu. It was quite busy so highly recommended to get there early! Now that I know how tasty their brunch is, I'll have to come back and enjoy some more things on the menu!
TLDR: Chadwicks is your typical divey local watering hole spot in Old Town Alexandria offering up variety of food. Would recommend for game watching but keep the bar of expectation mid to low. This was my wife's and I first time visiting Chadwicks we came here as a JMU Football location. The first critique was we came in and was told the TVs were at the bar sections and we sat at a table in the section but the host failed to inform us that we needed to ask the bartender for menus and silverware. We literally sat for like 5-10 minutes before I went back to the hostess to ask and that's when I was told. This interaction is on the hostess not the bartender. On to the food, we were here for brunch hours and I opted for the Monte Cristo which was recommended by the bartender that and the home fries were really good. The chowder lacked salt and pepper big time but once we added, it was decent. The clams in it were a bit chewy for my liking. My wife had the Au Jus she said she liked it but it was dry in some areas. In all I would come back here for sure to bar dive or to watch a game and grab a pub-ish bite. Chadwick's doesn't try to be something it's not and that's a good thing.
Haven't eaten all day. It was late night after driving for what seemed forever. Bartender was awesome. I ordered a side Caesar salad, new England clam chowder, and their crab sandwich with fries. Food just wasn't great. Considering I haven't eaten all day, I feel like that's saying a lot. The Caesar was ok but I wouldn't get it again. The clam chowder .... Nope, had way better. The bartender said they were known for their crab cake. Um their sandwich wasn't horrible but I wouldn't get it again. They should of had some tartar sauce with it... the fries were actually pretty good. I had a ginger beer there and that was good as well. Bartender was fast, social, great communication and honestly the only reason I'd come back for a drink or something. He was just one of those chill dudes id probably hangout with... Not in a gay way being that I'm a straight guy lmao
The food was decent for a late night bite or dinner. Vibes were cool and drinks were strong. The ambience and atmosphere gave sea vibes I love the that since it's by the pier. The service was fast and caring.
First time visiting DC, first time staying in Alexandria, Chadwick's was the very first restaurant we tried in the area. We stayed at Hotel Indigo, right down the block, and walked here for dinner after a late flight and hotel check-in. Food was great, service was meh, location is excellent. Parking would have been a challenge had we not been staying at the hotel, which included a garage parking space. Overall, I'd recommend trying Chadwick's. We ended up finding other spots in Alexandria with better ambiance but wouldn't mind coming back.
This place is a perfect place to go for a happy hour. I thoroughly enjoyed the crabcakes and the buffalo wings. They were cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is perfect to go after work. They have also really great prices for drinks like $5 drafts. Overall, my favorite food has to be the crabcakes and the apple pie with ice cream not picture because I ate it all. :) I highly recommend you check it out and the parking is not too bad.
Really enjoyed this spot. Wasn't super busy so I was seated upstairs immediately. Took a moment for the waiter to come but he did come with water in hand. For brunch mimosas at 5 bucks so I ordered a pineapple one. I always ask the staff what they enjoy on the menu. He recommended anything with salmon. I opted for the spicy chicken egg rolls and chicken francios with a side of home fries. The egg rolls were amazing, Crispy and hot. The chicken francios was good but i wasn't blown away. The French toast had a ton of butter sitting on top of it so it made it soggy so I wasn't a fan. The play list they had going was great. The ladies next to me asked for the pandora station because it truly was a vibe. I would absolutely come back.
This is a great bar for going to hangout and drink with friends or grab a quick bite after a walk along the river. It is very spacious and I haven't had to wait when I come. The food is also actually very good for a bar! The service is great and if you don't know what to get, they make great suggestions.
From the moment we entered until we left, it was so cozy and family friendly. Seeing so many families on a Sunday early afternoon was a good sign. We enjoyed all of our food and we had a full spread. After church, you want a heart warming meal that meets everyone's needs, some went lighter with a wrap, and some of us went full throttle brunch with mimosas & chicken Francois! The service was friendly and attentive. It was a perfect location just off the water in Old Town Alexandria. Huge fan and I will be back over and over!
I've been to Chadwick's twice within the past two years and it was decent. However, I recently went and I was not impressed by the food. I had the crab dip and it was very watery in consistency and didn't have much of a taste. I also expected more from the fried chicken sandwich because I've had the wings before and they were tasty, but the fried chicken sandwich was bland.
Reviews are mixed. Many praise the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, and enjoy the good drink selection. Most find the food tasty, though some report mixed food quality.

I was back in town, and it happened to be on Monday. They still have their 1/2 priced burgers, cooked to your liking. I enjoyed it along with my Kettle One Dirty Martinis. KAILYN was great - attentive and friendly and knows how to make great cocktails. Chadwicks was very busy outside, upstairs and around the bar....seems many were enjoying the delicious eats and drinks as well, a must when in town ! read more
In Old Town Alexandria early in the day and didn't have time to eat so decided to check out a nearby restaurant for brunch. Chadwick was closer and I have never been to this place before. I came here without reservations they didn't have any open tables downstairs but told me I could go upstairs to the bar and place my order and possibly sit outside. Fortunately, there was a table available outdoors. The table was dirty and needed to be wiped down, which no one did by the way. I ordered the Francois with a brunch cocktail (can't remember the name). The food was good, but definitely underwhelming nothing to write home about. I was also taken aback when I saw the small portion. The drink was ok. Another con was they only have one bathroom area and in the women's bathroom, one of the stalls was out of order. A recipe for disaster. All in all, I wouldn't come back. read more

They have comfort food. 1. you can walk in, they are a big establishment that can seat many 2. Food: 4 stars Crab cake - good ceviche - not so good, needs better seasoning burger - amazing 3. Drinks: 4 stars Strong, but nothing special. The look or the taste is rather ordinary especially for the price 4. On Sunday morning our family of 7 gathered at Chadwick's for Brunch, celebrating s 1st birthday. Our server Augie was delightful, a perfect combination of knowledgeable, efficiency, and charm. He quickly served drinks, described menu items , and then returned with our food. The shrimp & grits was delicious as was the Eggs Benedict. When Augie learned that it was the baby's birthday, he surprised us with a slice of warm apple pie & ice cream, topped with a single lit candle! I highly recommend! read more

A great restaurant and place to grab brunch! The seating area next to the brick wall is beautiful too! My husband, son, and I grabbed brunch there with a friend. One thing I absolutely love is that it is kid friendly! We shared the French toast, omelette, and grilled cheese for my son. Everything was delicious! My son was a fan of the grilled cheese and French toast! Location is right next to the water front, so it's in a perfect location to stretch your legs after a meal. Love it here and hope to visit again soon! read more

When you walk into this establishment it gives an old unique spot. I love the ambiance and decor inside. The service was amazing. I asked for a mock tail and my server made sure it was the best mock tail I've had. Also, she ensured I was well taken care of until my friend came. The food came out at a great time and it was really fresh and delicious. The crab dip was very flavorful and the bread was fresh. The spicy cocker egg rolls were my favorite l. They were just packed with so much flavor and seasoning. My friend enjoyed his Cobb salad he s a chef so he approved of everything. The wings were a nice size and had a great taste. I give them a 5/5. And I heard they have a late night menu and stays open very late. This is good and I will be back soon. read more

Good food in a rustic setting. Our server was nice but rarely checked up on us and never offered to refill our empty waters. My eggs chesapeake was really tasty, but they skimped on the crab cake and overcooked the eggs/the yolk was already popped. I liked the bearnaise - it was really buttery and slightly tangy. I tried my friend's francois and it was delicious - the fried chicken was so crispy. I did enjoy my meal and while nothing was terrible, nothing really blew me away. There was also a surprise appearance of what looked like a green bell pepper piece in my fruit, which was odd. Overall, I would not come back and I do not recommend this restaurant. The food tasted good but presentation was lazy, and the ambiance and service was just okay. read more
Chadwicks is one of my favorite spots to sit on the barstool with a friend and let the time pass. The atmosphere is one of an old pub, but it is off the main street by the water which makes it unique and set apart from the other restaurants of Old Town Alexandria. The food is always consistent and always very good. They have the best burger and the best fried chicken sandwich anywhere. I order these, along with a Chadwicks Amber most of the time I am there. The fried chicken dinner is also recommended, as well as any daily specials they may have. Friendly staff that makes you want to come back again and again. read more

Great brunch option in Old Town On Saturday and Sundays until 3:30. I've eaten here twice for brunch and the food has been pretty darn good!! I had the French toast a few months back and it was super yummy. This recent visit, however, I pigged out and ordered Eggs any style (scrambled for me please), bacon and a chocolate chip pancake! Soooo yummy!! Alex was our server and he was super energetic, attentive and just got the job done! He gave us the run down - how much longer we had to order brunch (on Sunday, brunch was over at 3:30pm) and the brunch cocktail specials. Good stuff!! Everything was great! I really enjoyed the flavorful cheddar grits! Seasoned to perfection! Overall, if it's not toooo busy, try and grab a yummy brunch at a great value! read more
Great location in Old Town. Standard fare. The place was crowded on a Friday night. It was mostly couples and SINGLE MEN watching the game. I couldn't believe how many men were there. I was with my boyfriend and I wanted to send up a bat signal to let all the single women in the area know that the men are here. Lol. The service at the bar was fast and friendly. The drinks were good. We ordered a Rueben and crab cakes. The Rueben was a hit. The crab cake was meh. They said it was lump, but tasted like backfin to me. The fresh fruit that I ordered was truly fresh and delicious. Parking is plentiful. Cute, casual date night spot, and people were friendly. It looked like a great place to meet someone. read more

5/5 Blackened Salmon Greek salad, whether or not you're on a keto diet. The pickled onions have sugar, but live a little. I'm in town for five nights and have been surveying the lands for keto-friendly options. Most places offer burgers and some offer seafoods (grilled octopus, mussels in stew form). $20+ for lunch before tip is the norm and many creep closer to or surpass $30. This Blackened Salmon Greek Salad clocks in under $21 pre-tip and is my happiest find - virtually no simple carbs, high healthier fats with olives and salmon, and plenty of leafy and green vegetables. I'm also interested in the Seafood Cobb for later in the week! read more

Came here for a late lunch with a party of 5. We ordered: - clam chowder (one of the better items on the menu) - crab cake sandwich (also good) - veggie burger (a bit bland and underwhelming but does the job) - ribs (they came out barely warm. The person who ordered had to send it back to be heated up. Once that was done, they said it was better) - burgers with a side of veggies (veggies here = a bowl of broccoli). One of the burgers was over cooked. Overall just average food. Although the location was nice, I won't be returning. read more

BARELY a 3 star. Sunday service is slow and bar staff are inattentive, portions are woefully small. I ordered tenders and fries... $12 for 1/3-1/4 sized serving (of most other places) cut into thin overly breaded strips. $4 for 1/2 serving of fries. Served room temp. Brought this up to bartender and was told, 'well have a nice day'.., literally. Everyone has different expectations, but I believe this would universally be a thumbs down. Day staff service and quality (of everything) here has suffered in the last few years. Evening/late night staff is on point. Suggest going elsewhere unless you're here at 1AM. read more
Cozy atmosphere and lots of life in this restaurant. It was a busy Friday night yet we were able to be quickly seated. Server was quick and friendly, which we really appreciated. We started off with the crab poutine and it was just what you would expect of it. Wasn't really that hot but outside of that we had no complaints. Buttermilk fried chicken was made amazingly. It was made just right and hot enough to last the meal, which I definitely appreciated. Macaroni may not have been lifechanging but it was still good, and when I finally finished my chicken I realized there was a biscuit just waiting to be devoured. All in all, it was a good time! Got there when they opened on a Saturday for brunch. Delicious food! Had eggs Benedict with bacon and cheese grits and biscuits and gravy. Brunch specials were their Mimosas and Bloody Marys. Service was good, asking a few times if we needed anything. Love that this restaurant is in an old historical building. Great character! read more
Had a delicious dinner here on a Saturday night. It was chilly outside but warm and cozy inside. The crab cake sandwich was delicious and well-portioned. We were able to get a same-day reservation for 4 + 1 toddler so that was nice! Prices were fair and the service was good. Great experience all around. read more
Perfect spot for a mid day snack or dinner. I liked the Coleslaw the best, very yummy! The blue carb dip was a great appetizer that is decent size to share. The chicken quesadilla was a 5/10, would not recommend ordering if you like authentic Mexican food. The quesadilla was soggy on one side and crispy on the other, could be better. The service was okay, the waitress was busy most of time and left mid conversation when ordering. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty and aesthetic, as seen in the picture below. We are about 18 blocks from the metro. There is a free trolley that’ll give you a ride to the waterfront. We are only 2 blocks from the waterfront trolley stop.

Unfortunately bottomless mimosas are not legal in Virginia. We do have very cheap mimosas however. $4 mimosas and $14 bottles of bubbles. GOOD bubbles.
