This is a very popular diner, where you most certainly will have to wait to be seated. There is an option online to be placed on a waitlist if you are on your way. Server was prompt and efficient. There was a bit of a wait while the food was being prepared, but it's well worth it. Huge delicious portions. I had the ham & egg omelette, home fries and biscuit. I couldn't finish it all. First let me say that the service was great & the prices are right. No issues there. However, If you're looking for African American southern comfort breakfast, this is not the place. Respectfully, this is a Caucasian owned establishment. Nobody that works here is black, and you can absolutely tell by the quality of the food. I was deceived by Yelp & Tik tok reviews -no seasoning on anything, meaning most of the food, lacks flavor, Including the French toast. When we arrived on Monday morning at 11am, this place was packed & there was a 15 min wait. I think we were all here because of the way it's been surfacing social media. This is far from where I live so I just wanted to give a disclaimer that it's not worth the hype. :( I ordered the farm hand: 3 pieces of French toast, fried potatoes, bacon, & eggs. The French toast was a 2/10 - soggy, and absolutely no flavor. Almost taste like wheat bread. Not brioche or high quality French toast whatsoever. They look amazing on camera but had absolutely no brown sugar or vanilla flavor. This is just bread dipped in milk & egg. Im a hard French toast lover and these were EXTREMELY underwhelming ! I took one bite and I wanted to cry. I want to add that I've been a Head Chef for a breakfast restaurant, so im not just talking here Steak & Eggs: They don't season the steak & they don't have A1...they offer something else. But it def needs sauce because it lacked flavor. The steak was supposed to be medium well & it was still chewy & tough. Ambiance: 2/10 this place needs a lot of work done inside. They have the art work covered with white canvas that's turning brown. It has a nasty feel & it's pretty closed in. Utensils and condiments need to be replaced, maintained better. Overall: The potatoes were the only decent thing I ate and they were ok. 5/10 nothing to be raving about. We're back at square 1 for Maryland residents and good breakfast options. cooking at home is the only way to go. read more

Came on Saturday with my Husband and kids. My husband arrived before me and he waited. When were were seated we were waited on a older woman who calls herself "grandma" she gave legit grandma vibes. Like firm but sweet lol I ordered the French toast with eggs and turkey sausage - 8.5/10 it was good I would definitely order it again. He: ordered the rib-eye and eggs with hash browns and biscuit. 8/10. He like his food m, he felt the area had a lot of "chewy tendon" pieces. Kids: ordered 1 waffle and 1 pancake. My son ate all of his food and ate some of my French toast. My daughter at half her waffle and took how the other half. We would definitely return, but the wait can be outrageous at times. read more

The server was great, and the place is cute inside. However, the breakfast was mediocre and underwhelming. The bacon wasn't cooked how I asked. The potatoes lacked seasoning (and I didn't care for the crunchy onions mixed in). The waffle had a nice vanilla-y flavor but was undercooked. I'm not sure how this place got 4.5 stars on Yelp. Perhaps quality has gone downhill or it was the cook working that morning? I think it's hard to maintain quality as well when you have such a huge menu. If you enjoy Cracker Barrel this place will be fine for you. If you are looking for something a bit more flavorful/better quality, I would go elsewhere. read more

I went here to get breakfast food and take it to my mom after church. Just know these pancakes are the size and thickness of actual cakes. This is one of the best places to have breakfast in Maryland. It's a small place but the food is amazing. I have been coming here for years anytime I come to visit my family in the DMV area. There will always be a wait, so if you come on the weekend be prepared. You can join the waitlist online before you get there, which is really nice. All of the breakfast is fantastic, but be sure to get the pancakes, but warning they are huge and really cover the plate. This place serves home-cooked breakfast like your grandma used to make. There is even a terrific server that works here who is called Grandma. She took great care of us and really loves her job. If you come in definitely ask for Granny to be your waitress. read more

We had the kids pancake breakfast (for a one year old), the two stack pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuit with home fries, and I had the French toast with eggs, turkey sausage, and grits. The service was amazing. We were seated immediately when we walked in and our server came over right away to get our drink orders. She smiled the entire time and even welcomed us once I told her this was our first time. The inside is giving old vibes which I like because I haven't seen an old restaurant with great food and service like this in a while or even in the DMV area. Ive been coming to Marie's for many years. At least 20 years. The selection is unbelievable. They have breakfast all day long. The food is pretty good also. They try to get everybody served in a timely manner. Their portions are very generous. I would give B+. Just because sometimes their bathroom and areas are not the cleanliest. Foodie friends of mine have been raving about this place forever and I finally made it over there today and it's everything they said it was. The food is not only super generous but well seasoned so the quality isn't sacrificed. I had the 14 oz rib eye. It was good quality and not filled with gristle like diner steaks typically are. Shockingly, they even cook it to order, so I got my medium rare. The home fries didn't come with green bell peppers, but they added some delicately chopped ones instead of the giant chunks you typically get thrown in disrespectfully from most places. My egg was cooked perfectly fluffy and didn't have to be sent back. Guest had chicken fried steak.... Which I tasted and it was juicy hot and well seasoned. I understand that they source locally both produce and meats. Terrific prices, and on-site parking....and speedy service. Since it's a local favorite the wait times can be quite stiff so you want to check their website and try to go during the beginning of the week. This here diner food rocks. A hole in the wall breakfast spot that gets pretty crowded. It's giving mom & pops so though the aesthetic isn't top of the line, you know the food will be good! And boy was it! Plus the serving they give you??? I got the chicken biscuit with eggs and it literally could've covered my whole head. It wasn't what I envisioned but I enjoyed plus it wasn't a sausage based gravy. 4.5 stars! The wait time can be a hindrance but if you're willing to wait, the food is delicious and the prices are so reasonable. I'd recommend a week day if you don't want to wait an hour on the weekend for breakfast/brunch. We tried the crab cake, breakfast burger, corn fritters, and chicken tenders the other day and had no complaints. The chicken tenders were a bit thin and therefore on the drier side but aside from that everything was wonderful! I will definitely have to try some cake next time! read more

We have patronized this diner for years, however; I will never return after today. My husband and I came for breakfast and was told a 5-10 minute wait. No problem as we enjoy the food and service. After checking in another couple came in about 2 minutes after us and added their names to the list and was told the same wait time. Within about 6minutes one of the managers walked over and signaled to them and said "come on" and sat them. I asked the host why did they sit them before us and he responded the person who sat the couple was one of the managers and knew them and there was nothing that they could do. After standing there waiting another 6minutes or so I asked for a manager and explained my disgust in how that was handled. Regardless of whether the manager knew them or not, the order is set for a reason and should not be changed due to "friendship!" It's sad to say that I will not return here. Marie's Diner do better! If excellent diner food could be summed up, it would be Marie's. We made a reservation for three with an 80 min wait time and that was extended by another 20 mins which was annoying but the food was pretty damn good so kinda worth the wait. I ordered the carb cake benedict with poached eggs which was perfect and the english muffin was toasted perfect and buttery with strawberry jam on the side. The home fries was a super win - crispy and hard but perfectly tender in the middle! SOOOOOOOOOO good! Also their sweet tea was SO excellent that I had two glasses! (Hangs head in shame!)
