I stopped by Cracker Barrel because I saw what looked like a meal deal advertised, but when I got there it was more of a "choose three country entrées" option with sides. For about $18 (before tax and tip), you get three selections and two sides, plus biscuits and cornbread ,which is definitely a good value for the quantity of food. I chose the fried chicken, meatloaf, and chicken & dumplings with turnip greens and mashed potatoes. The restaurant was pretty empty, and while the country store area is always charming, the dining room itself felt very cold .....literally. I will say my waitress, Tamara,was amazing. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure my drinks stayed full. Truly top-tier service. As for the food, it just wasn't good. The fried chicken was crispy but had a strange, almost watery taste. The meatloaf was dry and not appetizing. The chicken & dumplings were the only decent item, but it's hard to mess that up. The greens and mashed potatoes tasted old, and even though the biscuits and cornbread were warm, they tasted like they'd been baked earlier and reheheated. The peach sweet tea was good, though. I usually come to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because their pancakes (with the crispy edges) are good. But lately, even breakfast hasn't tasted as fresh as I remember. It could just be this location, but overall the quality feels like it's declined. The value is there for the portion size, but the freshness and flavor just aren't. This Cracker Barrel is so gross... We haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years, but we decided to check this place out for breakfast while we were in the area. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering all-day breakfast, chicken/turkey/beef/pork/seafood entrees, sandwiches, salads, and daily specials. We ordered: +the Cracker Barrel's Country Boy Breakfast - this came with 3 eggs, prepared your way, 2 breakfast sides, and a choice of sirloin steak tips, sugar-cured or country ham; we opted for the sirloin steak tips, which came out super well-done, dried out, with no flavor; not sure how the staff thought this was even appropriate to serve The scrambled eggs and bacon were fine, but the hash brown was super bland and served cold. In addition, we were hardly ever checked on, and there was also some weird leak from the ceiling, which got all over our food. They were happy to replace the dish, but not sure why this was not tended to. The tables and chairs were just not clean, with sticky surfaces and remnants of previous diners. Stopped by cracker barrel for the first time in a long time. Great host, didnt have to wait at all and he was cleaning tables in his down time. Server was a lil discombobulated. We got our order in and food came out decently quickly for a busy Thursday am shift. Got a 3 egg platter that came with 2 sides and meat. I upgraded and got 2 pancakes and a side of their loaded tots. I wish there was some kind of sauce on the tots like ranch or sour cream or something. I did get a side of sugar free syrup which was served cold. The pork sausage I got was definitely a different texture than I was expecting and I actually thought it was a meat free option but didnt see server to ask. My eggs were overcooked and they were plated on the same plate as the sausage so maybe I just got the wrong plate. Kevin got a platter with a basket of biscuits and gravy. The gravy is sawmill so beware of the flour-forward flavor profile. His platter was country fried steak, cheesy potatoes, and 2 eggs. His favorite was definitely the cheesy potatoes. The food was amazing, service was amazing, with amazing atmosphere and cozy. BUT, the new manager was insanely rude to us for no reason. Usually the place is fast there, were barely any people there, so there was no reason to be slow with cooking our food. Joy oh joy! Stopped to get a homelike meal. I was greeted by the most courteous host and seated very quickly. Great atmosphere and watermelon aura in the place. We had dinner on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm. It was a little wait for service but, they continued communicating with us. Mrs. Sharon was our waitress and she was super. She communicated with us the entire time of our stay. Recommend Specials they were having. I'm not a catfish lover (bottom feeder) but, she recommended it and I tried it. Well, I had high hopes for this place even after this location was in the news. Back in December 2024, a Cracker Barrel in Waldorf, Maryland, faced public backlash after it allegedly refused service to a group of special education students and their teachers on a field trip, leading to protests and the firing of three employees. This place needs a good amount of improvements. The service was decent from the front to the back....the initial host that takes the guests who have to be on the waitlist, she was slammed with people around her. And you could obviously tell that it was somewhat getting to her. That hostess' podium was too close to the entrance of the place period, that area can easily get congested. Then the main host podium where they get the menus and what not, he seemed to have a better handle on things, but not by much. Our server was very courteous, so that was a star for me. I ordered the Southern Half 'n Half, and I did say make sure it's sweet tea, but I got just sweet tea the first time then unsweetened the next. My wife ordered the peach mimosa and it was strong, she said it had more champagne than juice. We like to go for a balance when it's the day time. Then my kids wanted the cheeseburgers and you know we could've just gone to McDonalds if this was the case. But anyways, they looked dry and flavorless. My son just went ahead and devoured them because he was hungry. And also our waiter wasn't around like he should've been. We saw him many about 3 times total in an almost two hour period. I just don't what else to say about it. SO....to the main dishes, my wife's meal she couldn't enjoy because she gave it to our son because with so much going on in the restaurant, I forgot to order our oldest son's food. He's 10 and we told him to read the menu and not just order a picture he sees. Well it was my fault because im Dad and with so much going on in the place, I totally thought my wife ordered for him. So basically, the place was abnormally loud, even I started gettin annoyed by how loud it was. Oh and did I mention that it took about 55 minutes to get our food, other patrons were visibly getting upset just as much as we were. And we were about to leave too, because I mean it shouldn't take that long at all. I would think that restaurants would be prepared for this sort of thing, especially on the weekends when you know that you are going to be slammed on weekends. But what do I know, I've just been in the subject of eating food....all my life. Either way, I can tell you that my catfish order was wrong, I ordered two fillets and got one. The catfish was so dry and even being fried, it was so bland. I couldn't taste a bit of salt or even pepper. And when did the catfish fillets get so dang small!?!?! The hash brown casserole was bland as well, the grits were not done, the eggs looked small. OK so with grits, they should be creamy, soft and buttery. My friend and I was in the area and visited this location. Honestly, after reading the reviews I was reluctant to come but it was the closest location to where were staying. We didn't have to wait when we arrived. We were seated but had to ask the staff to wipe down the seats that weren't fully cleaned. The staff were very pleasant and professional during our visit. It was crowded for an early Saturday morning. I haven't been to a cracker barrel in years and was excited to eat. I eventually settled on the grandma sampler which was Two Pancakes, two eggs, turkey sausages with Fried Apples and 100% Pure Natural Syrup. I also ordered a side of grits and ate every last thing on my plate. The food was absolutely delicious. OMG, I forgot how amazing their syrup was and would've purchased some in their store but their power went out towards the end of us eating. It was unexpectant but the staff handled it very well and checked in with their customers. The customers continued eating and used their phones for light when needed. We had to use the old school credit card machines to pay because we didn't have exact cash. When we left, we noticed there was a power outage in the entire area because the traffic lights were out and highway patrol was directing traffic. We had almost given up on Cracker Barrel when we found this one in Waldorf, Maryland. We arrived on a Friday morning without calling ahead were seated quickly. The restaurant was clean with a steady stream of guests. I Our waitress was informed, pleasant and not pushy. She delivered our drink order and placed our breakfast order which arrived quickly. My wife placed an order today through the Cracker Barrel app. The app said the order would be ready at 11:59 am. I went into the restaurant at 11:50 and was told the order wouldn't be ready until 12:16. When the order came to our car, there was no quality check done. My order was missing along with the sides. Terrible Service & Unprofessional Management My wife and I had a horrible experience at this Cracker Barrel on February 16, 2025. Our original server took our drink and food orders but disappeared after that. We waited 40 minutes with no food and no updates until we had to flag down another server just to get any help. After finishing our meal, we waited over an hour just to get our check. During that time, two managers ignored us multiple times despite us trying to get their attention. When we finally got our check, it had no discount, even though a manager promised to take something off for the inconvenience. When we questioned this, another manager rudely dismissed our complaint, balled up our check, tossed it aside, and told us to leave. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we've had. First time visiting the Wardolf location. It was like any other location in terms of decor. Omar did a great job as our server. I was craving their blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were buttery and the bacon and eggs were great. The only thing that caused my review to be lower is the long wait time to be seated and the long wait to be served out food. Also, the bathroom was not well kept. There was one that was out of order and had a sign written on a receipt on the door. Also, there was toilet paper on the floor and some stalls didn't have toilet paper. If you are gonna go, I suggest maybe try a week day. I've eaten here many times over the years, so I figured it was time to add a review. The ambience is always family like. My server Monique was very friendly and was attentive to my needs. I've ordered various dishes on my visits to this classic restaurant, so I decided on the Momma's Pancakes breakfast. It comes with crispy bacon, three pancakes (butter and syrup), eggs (scrambled with cheese & onions) and loaded hash browns. I ordered coffee with my meal; best tasting one in the area. As usual, a very good meal. My main issue (today) is that the food was barely warm. It probably sat for a little too long before making its way to my table. Also, it would be nice if the syrup was heated. Nothing worse than cold syrup on pancakes (at least for me). A little more expensive than my last time there a few months ago. Even though this particular Cracker Barrel has been around for a little while now, I feel as though i've never had the chance to go in and check it out. The closest Cracker Barrel used to be hours away so when they built one closer to my house I was pretty stoked. ANYWHO, enough about me. Our family recently stopped at this location for a quick dinner but it ended up being a marathon. We were told it would be a 35-minute wait and there was only one section of the entire restaurant that was open, probably due to staffing. We waited much longer than that -- I joined the waitlist on the app and it said 5 minutes When we did get seated, service was very slow. Our waitress was trying, but it took probably 20 minutes to get biscuits after we finally got drinks. Our food took probably 30 minutes and nothing was super hot when it came out, plus everyone who got hash brown casserole agreed that it tasted like it was made yesterday because it was so dried out.
