Solid, modern eats with a nostalgic vibe! Always a fan of Silver Diner and this location does not disappoint. The vibe here is of a casual diner, with an expansive menu that changes often with the seasons and local eats. I came here after visiting a friend out in the Waldorf area and decided to grab take-out before heading back into DC. I will admit I almost did not stop here because it was near closing time and I hate order from place near closing. I got here near closing and the food was just as fresh as if it was opening time. We all know how it is getting somewhere to eat near closing time.... You tend to get subpar service and food. You subject to getting a scraps, bad orders, guilty eye rolls from your server, "ain't got this, "ain't got that," issues....lol. But, this was not the case at this Silver Diner. It was a great experience from beginning to end. Our bartender/server was Cameron C. and he did an amazing job serving us and making us feel welcomed. He's truly a people person. He kept the drinks on point while we waited for our food and made sure our orders were prepared exactly how we requested. During this visit, I tried the Short Rib Burger, Loaded Fries as a side & Buffalo Wings. Everything was delicious and fresh. And, the burger was the star!...A juicy 1/2lb burger pattie cooked to perfection....topped with bacon & tender braised short rib!! It was complete meat overload, super fresh and sooooo good! For anyone that is "meataholic" like myself...you gotta try this thing. My wings and the loaded fries complemented my dish well too. Not to mention, everything was packed well for the long haul and drive back to DC....of course, I couldn't resist and snuck in a few bites of the fries at each stop light heading back down Route 5. Let's just call it a #qualitycheck! lol ;-) In all, I enjoyed my visit. This location gets two thumbs up in my book. We wanted breakfast but didn't feel like cooking so we decided to head to Silver Diner. Figured there would be a wait, since it was Sunday afternoon so we anticipated waiting for a table for about 30 minutes. It was packed in the lobby with no seats. We went in,added our name to the waitlist. The hostess took our phone number and said that she would send a text when our table was ready. We were fine with that and went back to the car to wait for the text message. Almost an hour goes by, and the crowd visibly dies down, so we go back inside to check on the wait times. The hostess said that someone had accidentally marked us as a "no show". She apologized and sat us immediately. I wish it would have ended there but when the food came out it was already cool (not hot). I mentioned it to our waitress and she apologized and got the manager. He offered to remake the food, but I am not a fan of sending food back to the kitchen so I declined. Plus we were starving and didn't want to wait extra time to eat. I reiterated that the taste of the food was fine, but I just wanted to make him aware of the temperature of the food. Instead he gave us 10% off of the bill and a $10 gift card for the next visit. I commend the staff for handling this very professionally. I'm pretty sure I'll still end up going back at some point because Silver Diner is local and one of those quick "go to" spots in Waldorf for all day breakfast, but just won't go on super busy days. I think three stars is a fair rating for this visit considering we never received a text and the temperature of the food. I'm looking forward to a different experience next time and giving five stars read more

Brunch with hubby after voting, Tues., 6/23/26. Today's wait was only about 15 minutes ... MUCH better than their weekend rush. Shout out to Tori for her EXCELLENT service. LOVE the coffee sooo much, we bought a bag for home! Super cute, artsy establishment. Presentation is always on point buttt the food was wayyy too salty. I feel so weird saying that because I'm typically disappointed in the lack of seasoning in restaurants. NOT HERE. Hubs agreed ... his eggs and my salmon frittata and potatoes were just not edible. Today, the standouts for hubs was the million dollar bacon; for me, the cheese grits and honey biscuits and, for both of us: the coffee. Worth the visit. Will return. We ordered DoorDash and everything was pretty good. They did leave out my niece's apple pie . I got a lobster melt and bread pudding . Bread pudding was okay . I asked for it to be warmed but it definitely wasn't. The triple chocolate cake was decent. The kids loved their chicken and waffles. O loved my lobster melt. We did go the day before to sit and eat but we ended up leaving because nobody really had a taste for anything. But it was a family friendly spot. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst during my visit. For an award-winning chef and Food Network winner, he was incredibly humble and courteous. He truly has a wonderful listening ear, which makes the "local flavor" of this diner feel even more personal. Came on a Wednesday morning and they were quite busy which the staff didn't seem prepared for. The hostess when you first enter was pleasant, welcoming, and informative. Our server was very slow. She mentioned how busy the restaurant was and seemed overwhelmed which I don't think needs to be shared with the customer. The manager on duty was making rounds and helping out as best she could so the effort of some of the staff is very much appreciated. The food was great. The kid enjoyed her hotdog with strawberries. My mom had a smash burger with fries- ok, bun was dry. I had a ribeye steak sub add mushrooms with fries- delicious. The restaurant was clean and recently renovated by replacing some of the booths with tables and refreshed all the seating. read more

I visited Silver Diner a couple of weeks ago, and my waitress, Nina, was outstanding. She had a great personality, provided excellent customer service, and made my experience enjoyable. I'll definitely come back just because of her! I sat at the bar, so I was able to observe the staff interactions. Nayeli had just started her shift, greeted everyone with a "good morning," and immediately got to work on the pickup orders. The kitchen manager also came out, greeted guests, and asked how everyone's morning was going, which created a welcoming atmosphere. The only disappointment was the front-of-house manager, Aaliyah. As a store manager myself, I understand how important it is to acknowledge guests and set the tone for the team. Unfortunately, she walked past the bar several times without greeting any guests or interacting much with the staff. Strong leadership starts with engagement, and I believe improving her people skills and guest interactions would make a noticeable difference in the overall experience. read more

I have enjoyed dining here because the food is consistently excellent. The shrimp and grits are outstanding, and the coffee is some of the best I've had. Unfortunately, today was the second time I've been served by the same waitress, Jessica, and both experiences were disappointing due to her demeanor and level of customer service. I encourage management to invest in customer service training for all waitstaff, with an emphasis on creating a warm, welcoming, and attentive experience similar to the standard of hospitality associated with Chick-fil-A. Consistent, high-quality service should be a priority for every guest interaction. I would also recommend revisiting the policy that allows servers to use their personal rewards accounts to claim points for customers' purchases. This practice creates the appearance of a conflict of interest and has the potential to encourage dishonest behavior. Customer rewards should benefit the customer who paid for the meal. Because the food is so exceptional, I hope management will place the same level of focus on the customer experience. Reinforcing expectations for professionalism, hospitality, and top-tier service through ongoing training would make this restaurant truly outstanding. read more

I ordered the country griddle for dine in and the country scrambler to go. The difference for $5 extra is that the scrambler includes fruit and two small pancakes. With the meal you get scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, onions and mushrooms. The eggs were a bit runny for my liking but otherwise the food was very good. I also always appreciate when I do not have to add any salt or pepper to my meal, and this one had the perfect compliment of seasoning. The biscuit that comes with the griddle was soft and delicious as well. My colleague had the American Favorite breakfast. You'll have to check the menu because he inhaled the entire plate down before I noticed what he had! My husband and I visit Silver Diner often, and each visit is always a pleasant experience. Ariel and Yasmin, who work on the line, do a really great job keeping the orders together. They probably don't even realize I'm paying attention, but it's refreshing to see people who genuinely enjoy doing their job and do it with a smile. Honestly me and my boyfriend just came here last week everything was great! However today I told my mom we should come and the food was horrible and so was the service. Everything felt very rushed our server didn't greet us just walked to our table with dirty dishes in hand and said "can I get you some drinks" I ordered the same thing I got the other day and it was horrible there was a bug in my salad and their solution was a free entree for next time. Why would I come back? It should have been free this time. And why is the lettuce not being washed? My friends and I came in last night after an event we attended. The young man who was our server was nice, but not a very good listener. We were waiting for the last person to join us (it was 5 of us total), so he asked what we would like to drink starting out. I asked for a sparkling water while my friends asked for alcoholic drinks. Now, he may have got sidetracked with my friends asking him about specific ingredients in their drinks, but he didn't bring my water until I asked him a second time after he had brought their alcohol. Then, with my entree, he said it came with either soup or a side salad, to which I responded, a salad (caesar). And my entree came with coleslaw to which I said no coleslaw please. Entree came back with coleslaw and no salad. My friend's entree also came with coleslaw she asked to be removed. The server also didn't understand the concept of splitting the checks (at first) and we had to ask him more than once for to-go boxes. I think the server needs to be more of a listener to get things right. My biggest pet peeve when going out to eat is being asked specifically what I want and how I want it, to then get NOTHING how I wanted. read more

I was reluctant to try it since I heard it was a tomato base and I usually go for the creamy version, but this was amazing. I used to eat here very frequently as the food is delicious and doesn't disappoint. However, last week I ended up ordering a burger to go and while it was very tasty, I took another bite and saw that a hair was pulling from the burger while the other end of the hair was in the piece of the burger that I just took a bite of. I immediately spat it out and threw the rest of the burger in the garbage with it. I was so disappointed because I loved this place. It's going to be a while before I decide to give this place a chance again. I get that things happen sometimes but seeing a hair pulling from my food was absolutely disgusting. We were greeted by the kind and thoughtful hostess that gave the founding history along with the local food sources also written on the menu. Food was great!! 7 year old had kids french toast with scrambled eggs and fruit. She had a kids small vanilla milkshake as well. That kid was quite satisfied. The 17 year old had a Smash burger with fries and OJ. She was happy with her choice. I had a country scrambler which consisted of eggs, potatoes, sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms with gravy and cheese on top!
