    Salmon Cheesesteak
    Erika J.

I went here cuz I heard they had good salmon steak and cheese. Order 2 for me and my husband, I ordered no onion on mine. And I ordered chicken wings and french fries for my kids with no sauce. When I got home, I realized that they had put onion on my sub and not just a little bit but huge cuts of onion. I also realized they didn't give me the macaroni and cheese that I ordered but instead me sweet potatoes. My kids wings were completely naked. I assumed that they were going to be fried wings w/breading , but they looked so bland. My kids wouldn't eat it. Which could be my fault for not asking. The steak and cheese was decent but for $25 I don't think I will buy it again.

The chicken & yams were good! The mac & cheese was soupy which was a disappointment. Also ordered collard greens which the few few bites were good. After eating and reaching the bottom the greens were like a spinach consistency. Weird .

I ordered the Big Mama's Chicken Basket. I ordered the yams instead of french fries. The chicken was so good, I devoured them once I got home. I should've ordered another side of yams. The food was delicious. This was my first visit, and I will be back.

Oh I really didn't want to give this place a bad review but this was the last straw. The fish was salty, the Arnold Palmer drink was diabetical. To make matters worse, my son went there for greens and it had a sour smell and looked gritty. I guess it was not enough that there was hair in my green beans. I'm sorry, the third time was it for me. Wear hairnets and use gloves when placing food!

Starting with the pros: our server Milano was great. He gave great recs and was patient with us, he was also our bartender initially. I enjoyed my cocktail and my biscuits! The biscuits were fresh and I loved the sweet potato butter and peach jam. Cons: My entree. I ordered the tale of two fish with all catfish. I will note it took a while to get our food and I wonder if some of it had been sitting because it wasn't hot hot. But my fish was darker than one of my sisters who ordered the same thing and hard. A part of me thinks maybe the grease was old ? My grits were stiff and couldn't even be stirred (also not hot). As I was eating I noticed a hair in my fish, I let out sever know and he asked me if I'd like something else or for a new dish. I opted for a new dish and asked for it to go. That fish was cooked perfectly and the grits were edible. I also ordered a side of the crispy smashed potatoes and the potatoes were just small round potatoes with unseasoned onions and green peppers tossed in the bowl. Across our party someone's chicken (chicken & waffles) tasted old. And 2 people didn't receive their sides (eggs, potatoes) from the kitchen so they just ensured they were removed from the bill. I will say there was a lot going on that day (a pedestrian was hit in the parking lot) but I don't think that would have an impact on the kitchen staff. I'd possibly be open to trying another location but wouldn't return to this one.

Solid, modern eats with a nostalgic vibe!…read more Always a fan of Silver Diner and this location does not disappoint. The vibe here is of a casual diner, with an expansive menu that changes often with the seasons and local eats. I came here after visiting a friend out in the Waldorf area and decided to grab take-out before heading back into DC. I will admit I almost did not stop here because it was near closing time and I hate order from place near closing. I got here near closing and the food was just as fresh as if it was opening time. We all know how it is getting somewhere to eat near closing time.... You tend to get subpar service and food. You subject to getting a scraps, bad orders, guilty eye rolls from your server, "ain't got this, "ain't got that," issues....lol. But, this was not the case at this Silver Diner. It was a great experience from beginning to end. Our bartender/server was Cameron C. and he did an amazing job serving us and making us feel welcomed. He's truly a people person. He kept the drinks on point while we waited for our food and made sure our orders were prepared exactly how we requested. During this visit, I tried the Short Rib Burger, Loaded Fries as a side & Buffalo Wings. Everything was delicious and fresh. And, the burger was the star!...A juicy 1/2lb burger pattie cooked to perfection....topped with bacon & tender braised short rib!! It was complete meat overload, super fresh and sooooo good! For anyone that is "meataholic" like myself...you gotta try this thing. My wings and the loaded fries complemented my dish well too. Not to mention, everything was packed well for the long haul and drive back to DC....of course, I couldn't resist and snuck in a few bites of the fries at each stop light heading back down Route 5. Let's just call it a #qualitycheck! lol ;-) In all, I enjoyed my visit. This location gets two thumbs up in my book. I'l definitely visit this SD again if I am ever in this neck of the woods hungry and in need. * Yelp Elite Tip & Honorable Mention: Sign up for their "Eat Well Do Well" Rewards Program. Today I finally visited and was a bit disappointed to see the underwhelming interior where it is strictly carry out and cheap metal guest chairs to wait on while the food is prepared. But it's really about the food right?! Meh. It was very hit and miss. I ordered the (4) sliders with grilled onions. They were slightly charred which was nice, and they were juicy, but they could have been cooked a little more (they were like medium to medium well and I prefer well done - I should note they didn't ask how I preferred my burgers cooked). I also ordered their jumbo fried wings and picked sweet and sassy sauce. The sauce was tasty and the wings had a nice texture, but beyond the sauce the wings had a plain flavor suggesting they didn't season the wings before frying and then coating them with sauce. Overall the food was solid but not awe inspiring. I was less impressed with their cakes. I ordered a strawberry slice and a carrot cake. The carrot cake was moist and wasn't bad at all. I've had much better, but it was edible and satisfied my sweet tooth for the day. The strawberry cake however was dry and grainy. Perhaps it was old. It was definitely a waste of $7.99! When I brought this to the server's attention, she went back and talked to the manager who also agreed the broccoli was overcooked so they comped the meal. The initial rating was going to be 2 stars but 9 times out of ten, this place makes really good food and the fact that the Customer Service saved them from losing a regular customer stands out over one bad meal. The server herself was embarrassed when I brought this up to her and I had to advise her this was not her fault, as she was always within reach and not hard to get the attention of. The wife had ordered a salad with chili vinaigrette and bleu cheese was initially brought out in a separate container. When we brought this to the attention of the server, she immediately corrected it and brought out two containers of the vinaigrette. The ambiance of the place was like a family owned establishment and all of the staff were on point and available at all times. It was cozy and didn't feel like we were being rushed while the place was hopping, the parking lot was full and the turnover was very quick. Never felt pressured or rushed, but the process was as smooth as silk. Still one of the best Italian restaurants in the area, which says something for a business that looks like a hole in the wall from the outside.

Alexa, play "always time" by Miguel…read more Cracker Barrel in Waldorf will always hold a special place for me. It's the kind of spot that makes you imagine Sunday mornings with your person, the two of you settling into a table sharing life, and growing old together without even noticing time passing. I probably won't make that long drive from the city again, but the good memories tied to this place are ones I'll always keep close. I never had any real issues here, aside from one cold cup of coffee and even that feels small now. The wait staff was always warm and friendly, the kind of people who make a place feel familiar. And that little store inside? Still one of my favorite parts. All the cozy, quirky things you don't need but somehow want anyway. That's the charm. Parking is plentiful, and if you go, take that left when you exit. Trust me, it will make life easy. And well, life should be an easy and pleasant journey as possible. Let's get into it! For about $18 (before tax and tip), you get three selections and two sides, plus biscuits and cornbread ,which is definitely a good value for the quantity of food. I chose the fried chicken, meatloaf, and chicken & dumplings with turnip greens and mashed potatoes. The restaurant was pretty empty, and while the country store area is always charming, the dining room itself felt very cold .....literally. I will say my waitress, Tamara, was amazing. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure my drinks stayed full. Truly top-tier service. As for the food, it just wasn't good. The fried chicken was crispy but had a strange, almost watery taste. The meatloaf was dry and not appetizing. The chicken & dumplings were the only decent item, but it's hard to mess that up. The greens and mashed potatoes tasted old, and even though the biscuits and cornbread were warm, they tasted like they'd been baked earlier and reheheated. The peach sweet tea was good, though. I usually come to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because their pancakes (with the crispy edges) are good. But lately, even breakfast hasn't tasted as fresh as I remember. It could just be this location, but overall the quality feels like it's declined. The value is there for the portion size, but the freshness and flavor just aren't. I hope it's not the brand overall, because years ago Cracker Barrel tasted hot, fresh, and truly country. This visit just felt old and reheated.
